040 Rudnev's ambition and rhetoric

Rudnev didn't know that his old friend Liang Bozev's situation was already in danger. After receiving Liang Bozev's confident declaration, he believed that recapturing the Kremlin was no longer a problem. Since the Kremlin was no longer a problem, he did not need to waste too much energy on this issue.

There are still many things he has to worry about in Moscow's great cause of counter-insurgency. For example, now he is considering whether to increase the attack and put more pressure on the Bolsheviks as much as possible, and it is best to let them collapse directly. In this way, he may be able to restore order in the second capital before Karekin's troops arrive in Moscow.

In that case, all the credit for quelling the rebellion will fall into his pocket, which will undoubtedly greatly enhance his political reputation. Perhaps he can compete with Kerensky for the throne of the prime minister.

After all, compared with the despicable prime minister, his actions in Moscow were extremely perfect, and comrades in the party should naturally appreciate his political talent. It would be useless to make such a talented person condescend to be the mayor of Moscow.

Just as Rudnev was planning his political career, the door to his office was knocked open by several angry Mensheviks and Cadets representatives.

"Rudnev, what are you doing? Who told you to give up the town hall, and who asked you to transfer the non-commissioned officers who patrolled the streets? Do you know how much damage this has caused to us!"

If it were a few minutes ago, facing such aggressive questioning, Rudnev would only feel overwhelmed. However, after Liang Bozev made a solemn promise, he no longer had similar worries, and even wanted the Cadets and Mensheviks to come and cause trouble. In this way, he could slapped the other party in the face.

Rudnev coughed lightly, and bought some time for himself to organize language. He had to show his momentum and suppress these annoying ghosts with iron facts.

"Gentlemen!" Rudnev said in an obvious and arrogant tone. "I don't know why you broke into my office so rudely! I don't know what you want to blame! I only know one thing, if you don't correct this attitude immediately, as mayor of Moscow and as guardians of the great Moscow, I will let you know how terrible I will be in anger!"

The Menshevik representative sneered: "The Guardian of Moscow. Who gave you this title, Lord Mayor? I know that some patriotic citizens who were extremely panicked because of your mistakes kindly called you stupid pigs! Compared to the former, I think the latter is more suitable for you!"

Rudnev was furious and slapped the table hard, "I won't be scheming with a bunch of stupid idiots. Now I'll warn you one last time, either exit my office and knock again, come in with my permission, or get out of here!"

"It's you who want to get out!" The representative of the Cadet Party responded without hesitation, "I don't know what else you have to be proud of. The National Rescue and Revolution Committee is already quite dissatisfied with you. If you don't correct your attitude immediately, the Committee will stop all your power without hesitation!"

"Do you want to rebel like the Bolsheviks?" Rudnev suddenly raised his voice, but he seemed even more guilty when he did this. Yes, he wanted to show his momentum, but this did not mean that he would really anger the Mensheviks and the Cadets, so his tone softened immediately.

"Now, gentlemen, I don't have time or interest in quarreling with you! This is meaningless to resolve the current crisis! So, although I don't like your bad attitude, I will try my best to suppress my anger and answer your questions patiently! Because I deeply believe that there is no problem at all!"

"Are you talking about tongue twisters? Mr. Mayor?" The Menshevik representative said sarcastically again, "Since there is no problem, please explain the question we just asked. I believe this is very simple for you, right?"

"Of course it's very simple!" Rudnev sat proudly back on his chair and said indifferently: "The reason why those troops were transferred was because Colonel Liang Bozev needed them now!"

The Menshevik representatives and the Cadet Democratic Party representatives exchanged glances. They had long guessed that it was the reason. Only when Liang Bozev was in a tight position would Rudnev make this choice.

"We have warned you and Liang Bozef that attack is not a good choice! Let's be right now? Did Colonel Liang Bozef touch his head in the Kremlin? Are you pitiful and asking for help from you!"

Rudnev shook his finger and corrected: "Gentlemen, I don't know how you could come to such a ridiculous conclusion! Colonel Liang Bozev's military quality is unquestionable. He is the best war-fighter in Moscow!"

Before he could finish his words, the Menshevik representative asked first: "Then please tell me why you sent reinforcements to this most war-going colonel. If our colonel is really as capable as you said, he will have enough troops to capture the Kremlin!"

The representative of the Cadet Party also continued without hesitation: "If Colonel Liang Bozefu had not asked you for help, then we would like to know more about the reasons you have drawn those precious troops on? Do you like to do stupid things that add to your own sarcasm?"

Rudnev was speechless. He did not expect the other party to attack him from this perspective, and this lie was indeed not easy to fulfill. If Liang Bozefu did not ask for help, then his behavior would be superfluous. Similarly, if Liang Bozefu asked for help, then Liang Bozefu's ability would be questioned.

Choose one of two, no matter which choice, it will be bad for Rudnev. Unless he can come up with a more clever lie, there will be a good show.

"Gentlemen, I really didn't expect that your thinking was so absurd, and your logical thinking ability was even more so... so unreasonable!" Rudnev tried hard to pretend to be a joke and indifferent expression. In fact, he was really a little guilty at the moment. At the beginning, he shouldn't have acted so aggressively that it's a bit difficult to end now.

"Please answer our inquiries positively. We are not interested in discussing IQ with you! Because we are very doubtful now if you have anything you can call IQ!" The Menshevik representative sarcastically said without hesitation.

"I'm preparing to answer your mentally retarded questions," Rudnev said bluffingly. "Because this question is so simple!"

The representative of the Cadet Party urged impatiently: "Then just say it quickly, our patience is really limited!"

"That's right," Rudnev began to cleanse Liang Bozev for him, "When attacking the Kremlin, Colonel Liang Bozev discovered a fighter plane that could severely damage the Bolsheviks!"

"What fighter jet?"

Rudnev laughed dryly: "We all know the meaning of the Kremlin. It is very important for us and the Bolsheviks. So Colonel Liang Bozev decided to surround the Kremlin and attract the Bolshevik troops to rescue. Yes! He was preparing to surround the points to fight for help, and was preparing to turn the Kremlin into a poisonous bait. He lure the stupid Bolsheviks to perish like moths to the flames!"

Speaking of this, Rudnev spread his hands: "But to implement this plan, it is not enough to rely solely on Colonel Liang Bozev's original military strength. I am very optimistic about this plan, so I transferred some troops to him. Is there any problem?"

Rudnev was very satisfied with the lie he made up. He admired himself for thinking of such a good explanation in such a short time. He felt that he was really eager and wise, and was born to be a politician.

The Menshevik representatives and the Cadet Democratic representatives looked at each other again. They really didn't expect that Rudnev gave such an answer. If things were as Rudnev said, it would make sense. But they instinctively felt that this explanation seemed to be problematic!

"Of course there is a problem!" The Menshevik representative glared at Rudnev, "The National Rescue and Revolutionary Committee had already made a decision on the operational plan and the allocation of troops. The Committee only agreed to retake the Kremlin and the General Administration of Posts, Telecommunications and Telecommunications. It did not approve you to do your own thing and change the combat goals at will!"

"You can't say that!" Rudnev quickly fought back, "Col. Liang Bozev's plan is perfect, and it is a great opportunity given to us by God! Just squander the opportunity like this, even God will punish us! Moreover, the battle situation is changing in a variety of ways, and it is very normal for you to adjust the combat deployment when necessary! Do you want to let go of this God-given opportunity?"

The Menshevik representative was about to speak, but the Cadets representative stopped him. He calmly said to Rudnev: "Is it a good opportunity? What you said to Liang Bozev does not count. Everything is spoken by the final result..."

Rudnev nodded impatiently and interrupted, "You are very right. The final result will definitely show that the decision made by Colonel Liang Bozef and I are very correct!"

The Menshevik representative sneered: "We are deeply suspicious of this!"

"What do you mean?"

The Menshevik representative sneered again: "I am very clear about the results of the war you mentioned. We are not optimistic at all!"

Rudnev pretended to be serious and asked back, "I don't know how you came to this conclusion!" But in fact, this guy was very happy, and he finally successfully turned the topic back to the results. As long as Liang Bozev can regain the Kremlin, he can explain it. As for what to do to attack the Bolsheviks on the spot, I believe Liang Bozev will know what to do, otherwise the diorama will be missed and no one will be able to do it.

"The reason we came to this conclusion is very simple!" Menshevik representative said aggressively, "The military representative sent by the National Rescue Revolutionary Committee to supervise Colonel Liang Bozefu, and reacted angrily to the committee--Col. Liang Bozefu is a military dwarf, and he doesn't know how to fight a modern war at all! In the words of the two representatives, Colonel Liang Bozefu's actions are simply crimes, and the colonel is an absolute stupid donkey!"

The muscles on Rudnev's face twitched a few times. To be honest, he agreed with this statement. If he hadn't stayed in the same boat as Liang Bozef, he would have made the same conclusion. But now, Liang Bozef, who is like a pig, is his teammate, and he can only stand up Liang Bozef to the end.

"To be honest, I feel very sorry," Rudnev spread his hands pretending to be, "I originally thought that the military representatives of the National Rescue Revolutionary Committee would be higher, but now I have to overturn this idea. In my personal opinion, Colonel Liang Bozefu is an excellent military talent and a gift from God. And a few laymen who do not understand military and are completely slandered a soldier who is upright and talented because of his narrow mind. This is really shameful!"

The Menshevik representative was angry with Rudnev's words. He stood up angrily and asked, "It's shameful that you, the idiot you praised, only knows to send our soldiers to the Bolsheviks' guns again and again to die. Half of the troops were ruined in two attacks! What kind of military genius is this?!"

Rudnev snorted and said contemptuously: "I don't know how you got the casualties. I only know that the battle is not over yet. Any figures obtained before this are unreal, even artificially created! And the reason why such a thing happened is that some people tried to erase Colonel Liang Bozev's military achievements! This is the real shamelessness!"

Rudnev turned his back and made a furious Menshevik representatives unable to speak, and the representatives of the Cadets immediately changed their faces, "Mr. Mayor, are you accusing the National Rescue Committee of the Rescue of the Revolutionary Rescue?"

"I am just accusing some laymen who know nothing and are narrow-minded!" Rudnev looked at the Menshevik representative provocatively and sneered: "I do not allow such a despicable villain to slander a hero who is truly defending Moscow!"

The atmosphere in the office suddenly fell to freezing point, and the three of them glared at each other, as if a fierce hand-to-hand combat was about to begin. The representative of the Cadets' Democratic Party looked at the "angry" Rudnev with a expressionless face. He could not understand why Rudnev was so strong. As far as he knew, the mayor of the Social Revolutionary Party had no capital to turn the tables. But why was he so confident?

Of course, the representatives of the Cadets' Democratic Party could not have thought that Liang Bozev drew a big cake for Rudnev. With this short cake, Rudnev would have the confidence to challenge. If he knew that Liang Bozev was already at the end of the day, he might have the chance to turn his guns off immediately, and push all the responsibility to the incompetent and stupid colonel, and openly cut off diplomatic relations with him.

After a few minutes of confrontation, the representative of the Cadets chose to give in. He was determined to find out Rudnev's trump card. "Since His Excellency the Mayor believes that Colonel Liang Bozev is trustworthy, please guarantee that you will provide a guarantee for Colonel Liang Bozev to ensure that he can complete the mission entrusted to it by the committee..."

Even if Rudnev wanted to support Liang Bozev, he would not be stupid enough to make such a guarantee. He interrupted the other party first and said confidently: "There is no guarantee at all! Just a few minutes ago, Colonel Liang Bozev informed me that he... had captured the Kremlin! He had already completed the mission entrusted to him by the committee, not only regaining the Kremlin, but also severely damaged the Bolshevik rebels!"

The Mensheviks and the Social Revolutionary Party representatives looked at Rudnev in surprise. Only then did they realize that the other party's trump card was this. If Liang Bozev had not lie, as long as the Kremlin was taken back, the committee would not have made things difficult for him.

"Can you confirm the authenticity of this news?" the representative of the Cadets' Democratic Party pressed.

"Very sure!" Rudnev replied arrogantly, "I believe Colonel Liang Bozev's character is a soldier with integrity and genius. It is impossible for him to deceive us in such a big event!"

Rudnev's affirmation made the Mensheviks and the Cadets' representatives very embarrassed. They came here to find fault and ruin Rudnev's prestige. But now, Rudnev actually had a life-saving trump card, which completely failed their plan.

According to the original plan, Rudnev was defeated and the power of the Social Revolutionary Party was further attacked, and more power was gained in the new coalition government after the victory in the rebellion. This was the wishful thinking of the Mensheviks and the Cadets.

However, Liang Bozefu actually succeeded. What should I do?

This question was heavily pressed on the minds of the Mensheviks and the Cadets' representatives. For a moment, their momentum was greatly reduced and they had no idea what to say?

"How are the casualties in the troops?"

At the critical moment, the Menshevik representatives responded quickly. Since the Kremlin has been recovered and cannot question Liang Bozev on this issue, they can only attack from the side and make a fuss about casualties, so as to strike Rudnev and Liang Bozev's arrogance.

"I don't care about any casualties!" Of course, Rudnev could not follow the other party's baton. He said enthusiastically: "I only know that Colonel Liang Bozev has completed his mission well, severely hitting the Bolsheviks' arrogance, and laying a solid foundation for our next step of action. In this case, we have no need to care about any casualties. That is nitpicking, and I will not do such stupid things!"

Looking at the frustrated faces of the Mensheviks and the Cadet Democratic Party representatives, Rudnev seemed extremely proud and happy. This feeling was so good that he was a little lost. So he decided to take advantage of the victory and try to further expand his results.

He said passionately: "In this case, the failure of the Bolsheviks is inevitable! As long as we continue to put pressure on them, they will soon collapse! So I decided to contact Zinoviev again and give them a final blow at the negotiating table!"

Speaking of this, he laughed out loud and proudly announced to the representatives of the Mensheviks and the Cadets: "So, it is very likely that before General Karekin's reinforcements arrive in Moscow, I will quell this rebellion! Our Social Revolutionary Party will show the citizens of the country that any rebel party that opposes the government is vulnerable. We have the determination and ability to lead Russia to the light!"
