452 Advanced Power Fighter (Part 2)

The MiG-9 was not successful, at least in Li Xiaofeng's opinion, it was unsuccessful. Even after Migoyang canceled the 37mm cannon at the air inlet of the aircraft, he did not obtain the qualification for mass production. However, in order to encourage the "innovation" spirit of the MiG Design Bureau, Li Xiaofeng still gave the MiG-9 a quota for production of 100 aircraft. No matter how bad this thing is, it is stronger than Yakovlev's cargo. The combat radius of the Jacques-15 cannot even defend the airport wall.

Of course, the competition is not over. As mentioned earlier, Lavochkin was confidently invested in the shooting of jets. ********** wanted to surpass Yakovlev, and his carefully crafted product was La-15.

Many students may not be familiar with this La-15, and the output in history is extremely limited. But it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t seen La-15, you’ll have to see MiG-15. Because MiG-15 and La-15 are simply too similar, like a pair of twins.

In fact, they can also be said to be twins, avionics, and engines almost exactly the same. The only difference is that the performance of the La-15 is slightly better than that of the MiG-15. However, it is limited in strength.

In this time and space, the Lavochikin's La-15 made its first flight in October 1944. Just a month later, Migoyan and Glevic caught up. The two of them tried their best to design the MiG-15 also flew into the blue sky.

As mentioned earlier, the performance of MiG-15 is slightly worse than that of La-15, but there is not much difference. Logically speaking, Migoyan and Glevic are going to have a tragedy again, but this time the situation is slightly different. Because MiG-15 greatly surpasses La-15 in other aspects. For example, production is simpler, and maintenance is more convenient. These two performances are particularly important to the manufacturer and users. So the final result is that Lavochigin failed and fell on the finish line.

Starting from May 1945, the MiG-15 entered production. Although it failed to fight with the Germans, it was successfully given Japanese colors in the final stage of the Pacific battlefield, which also surprised Britain and the United States.

This also caused a later war of verbalism, and the British strongly accused the Soviet Union of espionage. They found that the engine used by the MiG-15 was almost exactly the same as the Neon engine of Rolls-Royce. Although this centrifugal jet engine is not advanced, it is better to produce simple and reliable production, which is particularly in line with the national conditions of the Soviet Union.

Anyway, the British were quite annoyed by this, and once again criticized the incompetence of MI6 and MI5, which made the Russians calmly steal the Nean engine, which made Learwin quite embarrassed.

Of course, we all know that the truth is not the case. This was bought by a certain immortal in a treasure pot and has nothing to do with spies. In fact, what the British are most angry about is not that the Soviet Union obtained the Neon engine. In fact, this engine technology is not stressful for sale in the UK. Even if it is sold to the Soviet Union, it is nothing. Because the technology potential of this centrifugal engine is quite limited, it is not the mainstream in the future at all. The mainstream in the future is still axial flow engine. It is also good to sell the backward centrifugal engine for a small amount of money.

For example, in history, the British generously sold the physical objects and technology of the Nion engine to the Soviet Union. Is there any problem with it?

However, there is a saying that the Labor Party was in power back then, saying that the Labor Party in the UK was the Workers' Party, and sympathized with the socialist Communist Party of the Soviet Union, so it sold relevant technologies with others. To be honest, this is really nonsense. If the Labor Party is in the same direction as the Bolsheviks, can Attlee and the US imperialists stifle the socialist and national liberation movements?

The reason why the British sold some "high-end" technologies to the Soviet Union in history was very simple, that is, although the UK has fully mastered these technologies, the Soviet Union is about to master them. The technological blockade is of little significance, and it is better to sell them for money. In addition, the international situation back then was also very subtle. Among the five hooligans, the three giants of Britain, the United States and the Soviet Union, and Britain had no advantage at all. For the sake of diplomatic balance, the British decided to win over the Soviet Union to check and balance the United States, which gave the Soviet Union some sweetness. When Fatty Qiu came to power for the second time, the iron curtain was pulled up. Look at what else behind it?

The main reason for mentioning the Neon engine is not the verbal battle with the British. It is because the manufacturer of this kind of engine is very special. This engine, which is already backward and has little potential, is produced by the Northern Industrial Aviation Power Department, and is produced under the special care of a certain immortal.

When the Manion engine was first launched, there was a lot of controversy within the Northern Industrial Group, because the most intimidating one was the piston engine. Whether it was the Northern Industrial version of the VK-100 series (formerly the M-100 series) or the Northern Industrial version of the North Industrial version of the B-2 engine on the ground, the sales were quite good. At that time, the orders could be said to be tens of thousands. At that time, what kind of jet engine was spent on that effort? Isn’t this full?

Those who hold this opinion include Victoria and a cheap daddy of a fairy. Both of them speak financially and are willing to do business as long as they can make money. In order to make a lot of money, they do not want to waste their precious time on the jet engine.

There was more than this internal objection at that time. Another type of technical flow objection belonged to a certain fairy's pseudo-girl, who looked down on centrifugal engines at all and believed that the axial flow engines on the German line had more potential and strongly opposed the backward project.

Objectively speaking, Constantine's opinion makes sense. The centrifugal ones in jet engines are indeed not very good, and their potential is limited, and they will be eliminated soon. However, Li Xiaofeng believes that the foundation of northern industry is still too thin. Although axial flow engines are advanced, their technical requirements are higher. Not to mention northern industry, the axial flow project was quite unsuccessful in the early stages of the Soviet Union's jet power development.

Li Xiaofeng knew very well that he should never want to become fat in one breath. Especially in terms of technology, he could not be careless at all. He had to go forward step by step with a scientific attitude and scientific method. If he wanted to take the shortcut, the final result would probably be haste.

The most typical example is the "Taihang" engine in later generations. At first, when the modeling was finalized, the experiments that should be done were not completed. Finally, in the production process, a lot of unexpected problems broke out. As a result, Taihang was not very good. In the end, it could only follow objective laws and make up for the paths I wanted to save before to solve the problem slowly, which made Taihang become a publication.

Not only the Turkish accomplices made this mistake. The American empire also fought on this issue back then. The famous -15 once became the hangar queen because the 100 of Puhui was a mess (of course, there is a saying. Although the 100 and the Taihang later both formed a group of hangar queens, the 100 that year were better in terms of both the status and lifespan of the 100 that year were better than the Taihang at that time. It can even be said that the Taihang used in the publication probably only reached the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level of the 100 level, which is the best reflection of the gap in the technical level between the two countries).

Li Xiaofeng decided to learn this lesson and never save time in basic research to lie. We will do whatever we should do. Let's chase forward step by step. Nian's technology is not good, but it is not good to use it for practice. Moreover, Nian's assembly users will be quite wide in the future. In terms of the output of MiG-15 and MiG-17 series fighter jets, it is enough for the Northern Industry *******.

So Li Xiaofeng insisted on this issue. It would be useless no matter who opposes it. So since 1941, Northern Industry began to launch the Manion engine project. By 1943, the first prototype began to be tested, and the progress was still quite fast. In 1944, Northern Industry began mass-producing the Neon engine, which just met the production needs of the MiG-15.

Looking at the jet engine projects officially led by the Soviet Union during the same period, most of them were not going well. The reason is that the axial flow was indeed a little difficult for the Soviet Union. For example, the Liurika, who had mentioned before, kept fluttering in the pit of the al-7 engine, and he almost rushed to the steel comrades with his brother Sukhoi. If it weren't for the steel comrades going around, these two really wouldn't even have the chance to turn around.

But then again, the Al-7 engine of Liurika is actually quite good, with much greater thrust than the P-13 used by Tumansky's rd-9 series and MiG-21 at the same time. Moreover, the Sukhoisu-7 series based on the Al-7 is actually good in performance.

Of course, these are all later stories. At this time, Sukhoi and Liurika, the brothers in distress, have to continue to endure hardships, especially Liurika, who have to slowly grind for the time being, and wait to fight the Su-7 fighter-bomber with Sukhoi!

Judging from the situation later, Li Xiaofeng's decision was right. After copying the northern industrial version of the Nien engine (Soviet model ni-1 engine). 15,000 units were sold in the Soviet Union alone. If we count the ones sold to China and the world class brothers, it would definitely exceed 20,000 units.

The great success of the ni-1 not only allowed Northern Industry to obtain huge economic benefits, but also cultivated a group of professional and technical personnel. Since then, the ni-2 used on the MiG-17, the ni-3 and ni-5 suitable for the MiG-19 and MiG-21, and the ni-4 used on the Sikorsky new generation general-purpose helicopter were both successful. This has made Northern Industry aerospace power giant after Rolls-Royce, General Electric, and Pratt-White.

What is particularly powerful is that Northern Industry not only has involved in aerospace power, but also has made considerable achievements in land-based and sea-based power. For example, in 1943, when the Soviet Union was producing massive b2 engines, under the request of Li Xiaofeng, Northern Industry began a new generation of replacement products to replace b2 power. This new generation of diesel engine will completely break through the rules and regulations of b2, and make a great breakthrough in maximum power and service life, and has achieved great success in non-traditional markets outside the Soviet Union.

At sea, the new 18-cylinder high-speed diesel engine produced by Northern Industry is widely used in the socialist camp's destroyers. By the end of the 1950s, Northern Industry was the first to come up with a ship-purpose gas turbine.

Of course, these are all later things, and it is useless to say it. Faced with the rapid improvement of German fighter performance, the easiest and fastest way is to improve the existing fighter. For example, the most direct way is to replace the power system. For example, Yakovlev did this and replaced the vk-108 engine for the Jacques-3m1.

Please note that this vk-108 is not a monster of the cylinder in history, but based on the depth improvement of the vk-107, it increases the turbocharger and optimizes reliability, and the maximum power is increased to 2,000 horsepower, which makes the various performances of the Jacques-3m2 equipped with this engine stable beyond the -190d, especially in high-altitude performance.

Not only the Jacques-3 has improved the engine, but the LaV-7, which has been put into production, has also begun to replace the AS-71 engine with a larger power. As mentioned earlier, this eighteen-cylinder star piston has been super damn bad in history and can only be used after it evolved into the AS-73. However, due to the intervention of Li Xiaofeng in this time and space, the performance and reliability of the AS-71 have been greatly improved. The Su-6 designed by Sukhoi used this engine. Lavochijin, who had previously used the AS-82 series engine, also liked this high-power engine. After a simple test flight, it was used in the production of the LaV-7.

I have to say that the ash-71 is indeed a hot commodity. Not only Sukhoi and Lavochikin are targeting this engine, but Tupolev, who produces bombers on the other hand, also likes this engine and is preparing to use it on a new generation of strategic bombers.

In fact, in history, Tupolev first applied the improved version of ash-71 version of ash-73 on the copycat version of b29, that is, the map-4. According to the comparison test flight, the Soviet version of b29 was stronger than the early version of the US original, at least the engine was stronger.

The star engine of the Wright Tornado, which Americans originally used on the b29, was quite reliable. The reason is very simple. The star engine is cooled by air, and its cylinders are surrounded by the transmission shaft. Generally, there are 5, 7 or 9 in a circle.

With more star engine cylinders, the engine diameter will naturally be larger, and the air resistance will be greater. Moreover, the space in the circumference is limited, and the larger the cylinder, the fewer the cylinders can be accommodated. If you want to increase the number of cylinders, the second row is added behind the first row of star cylinders.

Think about it, the cylinders need to be cooled by wind, so naturally the first row of wind-facing cylinders dissipate better heat, and the heat dissipation of the rear exhaust cylinders is definitely not as good as the first row. The most extreme thing is that at the end of World War II, the United States launched a 4-row 28-cylinder engine for the B-36 long-range bomber. Obviously, the 4-row heat dissipation will be quite difficult. In order to increase the range propeller, the b-36 is placed behind the wings (in fact, its engine is dressed in the reverse) and the design's most heat-resistant cylinder is placed at the front, and the most unheated cylinder is in the hottest place at the end, and it often catches fire. This is where the six engines that the b-36 are jokingly called are smoked. Two are on fire, and the other two have been burned.

The original version of the b29 was also a multi-row star engine, and its cylinders were always facing the problem of overheating. The Americans' solution was to directly replace a better four-row 28-cylinder.

Of course, the wealthy Americans could do this, but the Soviet Union had no confidence and could only hang themselves on the tree of ash-71 and slap them to create ash-73. What's more interesting is that when the Americans learned that the Soviet Union had copied the b29, they acted very contemptuous and believed that the counterfeit goods of the Soviet Union must be inferior to their genuine version. But to be honest, this understanding is problematic, because the Ti-4 is really better than the early B29. The reason lies in the engine.

The early B29 used 18-cylinder, which was not only a problem with reliability. The maximum power was only 2,200 horsepower. For the huge aerial fortress, this power was a bit insufficient. The Soviet Union's Tu-4 used ash-73. The maximum power was 2,400 horsepower, which was stronger, and the performance of the Tu-4 was naturally better.

However, Americans always think that the ash-73 is a replica and always look down on the Russians. But to be honest, the ash-73 has nothing to do with it. Although both are 18-cylinder star engines, the Russians really have no copycats. The source of its technology is the ash-71. Of course, if the Americans insist that the ash-73 has something to do with them, they can also find an American father for the ash-73. After all, this series of engines originated from the nine-cylinder engine of the Wright Tornado.

Back to the topic, when La-7 replaced the ash-71 engine, its performance was improved linearly. After all, the ash-82n engine only has 1850 horsepower, while the ash-71 is nominally 2400 horsepower. Of course, due to production technology and technology issues, most products cannot achieve this power, and the actual power is between 2100 horsepower and 2200 horsepower. However, this is enough for La-7. The increased horsepower increases its maximum speed by 30 kilometers per hour, which is enough to compete with the -190d.

What's more, it's only a matter of time before the La-9, which is better performance is put into production. It's slightly different from the La-7. The La-9 will replace the Ash-73 with a more stable performance, and the maximum power can be maintained at the 2400 horsepower level. Even if the La-9 increases the take-off weight, the maximum flight speed is still slightly improved. The only problem for the La-9 is that the Ash-73's life is not ideal. Fortunately, the Red Army didn't care much about the life of the aircraft, so they just used it. However, Ileushen was cheated very badly. The Il-18 (old) passenger aircraft designed by it used four Ash-73s, resulting in a very bad economic performance. It was not until almost ten years after the birth of a brand new turboprop engine that the new Il-18 found a way out... (To be continued.)
