Chapter 308 COG Test
Under the crazy urging of the Imperial Dynasty Interactive Entertainment, the test date of Cog was advanced again, to February 13, before the New Year.
The relevant person in charge of GA said that this was already a very risky decision, because the current cog is not perfect. At least in the view of designer Raman Clive, it is a very stupid decision to test the time in advance.
What's the point of testing one week earlier?
Raman Clive and Ga really wanted to reject the proposal of Dichao Interactive Entertainment because they felt that a competitive game from a Chinese company was not harmful than their online product for a week or two in the morning.
Cog is for the global market. As for the "League of Legends" launched by the Chinese company, it may be at most acres of three-point land in China.
However, the attitude of Dichao Interactive Entertainment was very firm, and GA could not completely ignore the huge market of China, so in the end, the test date was advanced.
The reason why it is set on February 13th is that Chen Mo has already heard the news that there will be special Valentine's Day on February 14th and the week afterwards.
Including launching Valentine's Day limited skins, limited couple avatar frames and special game tasks, etc.
Obviously, Dichao Interactive Entertainment does not want to collide with "League of Legends" at such a critical point. After all, "League of Legends" Valentine's Day event is prepared. For players, Valentine's Day event only once a year, and cog...it doesn't matter if you play two days late.
If tested on February 14, the relevant data are likely to be squeezed into a very ugly way.
Lin Chaoxu's keen intuition told him that Chen Mo came prepared and that if he could not think of any solution, the situation would become very bad.
Everything depends on the feedback from players after Cog launches.
...
On February 13, cog (Chinese name "The Battle of Gods") started internal testing, and Dichao Interactive Entertainment promoted and warmed up through various channels, and even used some channel resources of the magical game platform.
Although it is uncertain whether Cog can succeed, the successful promotion of "League of Legends" has made Lin Zhaoxu more confident in this new game mode, so he invested a lot of channel resources in a test game for the first time.
Although many of the original players of Cog are die-hard fans of Chen Mo, Cog is also their favorite game type, so many people still choose to play and watch it.
Moreover, under the promotion of Imperial Dynasty Interactive Entertainment, many other players have also poured in, and a large number of them have played League of Legends.
After all, the games launched before the New Year are just the two more card-like and topical, and they can’t escape even if they want to.
The test version of cog is in line with the map of "Warcraft" in terms of core gameplay, numerical systems, hero skills, etc., and there is basically no big change.
Because in Raman Clive's opinion, his original design of cog is relatively complete, especially among the core player group, cog's art style, operation mode, etc. are some key elements of their favorite game. The rash change means giving up this group of core players, which is very unprofitable.
The main difference between the internal beta version and the original map is the packaging and derivative gameplay.
Cog did not get the copyright of the relevant heroes, so all the models could be redone, and the names were also fine-tuned to avoid legal risks.
After all, GA is a big company and is afraid of being extorted.
For example, the Death Knight was renamed as the Dark Knight, the Dark Ranger was renamed as the Shadow Ranger, the Jungle Guardian was renamed as the Elf Prophet, etc.
There are also people like Paladin, who just changed the model and did not change the name, because Paladin itself is a classic profession in Western fantasy, and there is no copyright.
Such changes seem to be a bit counterfeit in the old players of Cog, but they are not important, because in Raman Clive's view, this game will not only be limited to players who have played Warcraft, and the main players will not feel the incongruity of these models.
After all, it is a European and American company. Ga's artists are very skilled in Western fantasy themes. The scenes and hero models are very authentic, so this sense of copycat is not particularly strong.
There are some fine tunings in terms of map elements and hero skills, but no major changes.
In addition, there are some derivative gameplay and profit models.
Similar to "League of Legends", cog also has a friend system, matching system, mall system, etc. In terms of profit model, cog is also free for all heroes and skin charges, but there are two different contents from "League of Legends": card charges and unboxing.
Cog created a card mode, which is a bit equivalent to an additional skill enhancement system. Each hero can wear a card (including 4 cards) and enhance the hero's four skills.
For example, Dark Ranger's Dark Arrow has additional damage, and at the same time, the soldiers will summon small skeletons. There are 3 different cards for Dark Arrow, namely, increase damage, increase the blood volume of small skeletons, and increase the duration of small skeletons. Players can choose one of them to join their decks.
According to Raman Clive's idea, this card mode is equivalent to increasing the diversity of gameplay, allowing players to freely match their favorite decks, of course, to increase profits.
GA does not agree with the model of relying solely on skin profitability. After all, this model is too risky and it is completely uncontrollable whether players buy skins or not, and cannot guarantee the revenue capabilities of this game well.
Unless Cog can become popular all over the world, this idea seems a bit unrealistic in GA.
Ga's proposal is to either set a buyout threshold or add a charging system linked to the attributes. Raman Clive considered it and chose the latter because he felt that the buyout threshold might make him lose more players than a little unfair.
As for how to obtain cards and skins, it is very "European and American": unboxing.
Unlike the unboxing of "League of Legends", everything in the cog is obtained by unboxing and cannot be purchased directly.
Players can obtain gold coins through the game and recharge can obtain game coins. These two currencies will open different boxes. The gold coin chest mainly opens different cards and card fragments, while the game coin chest mainly opens skins and cards.
Of course, the speed of players obtaining gold coins is strictly controlled, and the number of gold coins required to unbox every week will increase. Players will definitely not be able to obtain all decks through gold coins chests in the early stage. If you want to form a relatively complete deck, you must recharge.
Moreover, after recharge, you need to find out what you unboxed and look at your face. You may find out the cards of heroes you can't play at all.
