974 Between Gains and Losses

The party last night was not only the first time Lance returned to Hollywood after the promotion of "Raging Road"; it was also the first party in Hollywood after Chaos Pictures showed its seventh player ability; it was also the first chess piece that Lance fell as a chess player after Chaos Pictures established a partnership with Marvel Pictures, using "Iron Man" as a cover to lay the groundwork for "Invincible Hulk", and at the same time, it was the first time that Hollywood was stormed and had a preliminary understanding of the interests.

There is no doubt that this is definitely not a simple party. When the party ends, I am afraid that all parties will gain something and then take the next move.

However, Disney was silent in this bloody storm, as if it had disappeared. Not to mention Warner Bros., Paramount and Universal Pictures, even Sony Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox also sent representatives to attend the party to test the truth and reality.

It can be seen that no matter how their attitude towards Chaos Pictures is, at least relying on their continuous strong performance since "City of Sin", Chaos Pictures has attracted wider attention from Hollywood, especially the "Rampant Road" has made a bloody path in the cracks of continuous suppression, creating history with the R-level and cult style positioning, and no one can ignore the existence of Chaos Pictures.

However, Disney is not included.

This is really an interesting thing, because Disney and Lance collaborated on Pirates of the Caribbean 2, and the global box office of this work has crossed the billion threshold. This result is very gratifying. Even if the two sides had previously had differences, a settlement should be reached in the face of interests - just like a sports game, there is no contradiction that cannot be resolved by a victory. However, Disney has no sound at all, as if he had not noticed Chaos Pictures at all. So, what's going on? Is Lance not sending an invitation to Disney? Or is Disney intentionally alienating Lance to show his position?

Everyone knows clearly that Chaos Pictures still has a long road and a hard battle to face if it wants to truly transform Hollywood from the "Six Majors" to the "Seven Majors", but it finally broke the blockade of Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures, but it faced Disney's ignorance. This good show has just been staged and it has been one after another, which is really exciting.

Many industry insiders have begun to look forward to it: Which Disney work will "Iron Man" confront you head-on? "Pirates of the Caribbean 3"? "Legend of Narnia 2"? Or "National Treasure 2"?

"So, what are your plans now?" Cole's mentality was relatively relaxed. After all, he was just Lance's agent. There was no direct interest connection between him and Chaos Pictures. What he needed to consider was Lance's next work. However, Lance could sit behind his desk and slowly select works. His task was to use Lance's momentum to win more box office dividends for Lance as much as possible. It cannot be said that it is difficult.

Warner Bros. DC Universe? Paramount’s “Star Trek”? Or the “Benjamin Button Miracle”?

"My plan, you have started to operate, right?" Lance asked back, and Cole burst into laughter. The negotiations of "Invincible Hulk" have been going on in an orderly manner. Cole cooperated with James Corden and Theo Strello to negotiate with Universal Pictures. The process was very good. The details of the contract have been basically confirmed and the details of the contract are only required to sign, and then the filming will be officially started.

Lance can receive 18% of the box office dividends by "Invincible Hulk", but the two parties need to further subdividends for cooperation at the company level. Chaos Pictures is responsible for the production and Universal Pictures is responsible for the distribution. However, considering that the copyright belongs to Universal Pictures, Chaos Pictures finally receives 35% of the dividends and Universal Pictures gets 25%.

Of course, it must be noted that in the surrounding aspects of videotape distribution channels, TV broadcast copyrights, etc. Chaos Pictures has opened up the situation with three works: "Raging Road", "Fruit Hard Candy" and "City of Sin". The surrounding channels are already negotiating contract details in an orderly manner, but they still cannot be compared with Universal Pictures. Therefore, Universal Pictures will be responsible for the surroundings of "Invincible Hulk", which also means that Universal Pictures will occupy the majority.

Even so, Chaos Pictures still stands on the same level as Universal Pictures to share interests, which has changed dramatically from the previous "day acquired" and "killing with a knife". It can be said that "Invincible Hulk" is the first work Chaos Pictures has cooperated on an equal footing with six major film companies - "Iron Man" is a cooperation between Chaos Pictures and Marvel Pictures, so Chaos Pictures is the dominant party.

"You know what I mean." Cole shrugged, "I don't mind working overtime. Is it DC Universe or Star Trek? If you have any intention, I can talk to them slowly. As for whether it starts in 2008 or starts shooting in 2009, it's all debatable."

Each of the projects in front of Lance is extremely important. If everything goes well, Cole can completely determine Lance's plan for the next five years. Especially Cole knows that Lance will not be able to devote himself to the shooting of these commercial popcorns, and will inevitably devote himself to his creation every once in a while, so Cole needs to master a timeline so that he can arrange time for Lance reasonably - in other words, squeeze Lance's time as much as possible and create more benefits. This is his true nature as an agent.

Lance tapped his finger on the desktop, "Don't think about these things for the time being. Even if they cooperate, they will cooperate as a company." Lance is talking about "Star Trek" here.

Once Warner Bros. knows Chaos Pictures’ plan, Barry will soon draw a clear line. DC Universe and Marvel Universe are definitely direct competitors, life and death. If Lance is just a director, Barry can poach the situation, just like "X-Men 3" and "Return of Superman" exchange directors, but Lance is the helm of Chaos Pictures, that is, the helm of Marvel Universe. There is no choice except opposition - at least in DC and Marvel works. As for works like "The Strange Things of Benjamin Button", it is another matter.

"My recent work is still mainly these two projects, and I won't consider the others for the time being." If I want to restart Star Trek, Lance's workload will rise sharply again, and he will definitely lose sight of the other. Therefore, Lance maintains a clear mind and has not lost his mind because of the recent ups and downs.

Cole spread his hands and sighed regretfully, "Okay, you are the boss, you are the one who decided the decision, I'd better do things well." The unconcealed depressed expression made Lance smile.

There are gains and losses, which is a truth that everyone must understand. Hollywood produces at least 2,000 works every year, of which at least 400 can be released in theaters - not including works that are only previewed in art theaters, one after another, no one can catch them all in one go, and there must be a trade-off. Since Lance has chosen the Marvel Universe, other choices must be put into place for the time being. This principle is clearer than anyone else.

What's more, there is a game between the six major Hollywood film companies, and anyone can be an enemy or a friend. Although Chaos Pictures is nominally the "seventh player", it has the weakest power and development still needs to be done step by step. The Marvel Universe is currently the best choice for Chaos Pictures. Whether it is Warner Bros. or Paramount, the current stage of cooperation may result in Chaos Pictures being led by the nose.

But what about "old has no place to rely on"?

After seeing off Cole, Lance suddenly remembered this work. "Old Nowhere to Belong" is different from all other works, and is also different from "Iron Man" and "Invincible Hulk", because this work has nothing to do with the company's strategy, it is just an invitation issued by the Coen brothers. It is aimed at Lance's actor identity. In other words, whether to perform this work or not is Lance's personal decision.

This is really a new thing.

Since "City of God", every footprint of each work has been closely related to the prospects of Chaos Pictures. Lance has served as the responsibilities of producer, director and screenwriter in every work, and three of them have been involved in performance. This is undoubtedly arduous for Lance. Each work must put in 400% energy and does not allow any relaxation. Not only that, but also requires taking every detail at all times. Any negligence may lead to the failure of the work. This is like mountains, pressing tightly on the shoulders, making people breathless.

Six months have passed since the completion of the "Raging Road" filming, but Lance has not fully recovered. It is not that the publicity activities are so intensive and exhausted, but that the mental overdrawing makes people feel infinitely exhausted. Just one position is as heavy as a tremendous amount, but Lance has shouldered three or even four.

Now, the Coen brothers have sent out a unique invitation, which also means that Lance does not need to consider scripts, cameras, scheduling, sets, storyboards... It only needs to concentrate on the performance and concentrate on studying in the world of acting. This also means that putting aside the company's interests and the cumbersome affairs of the crew, it may only take one month or two months to complete the shooting work, and even shorter, the possibility of cooperation has risen sharply.

What Lance is sure of is that he is not used to this pattern - the feeling of powerlessness of losing control, the feeling of relaxation that put aside the tension may make him at a loss and even begin to be anxious; but the question is, is it worth Lance's attempt to see the work "Old and Nowhere to Belong" and the friend of the Coen brothers, and the role of Anton, worth Lance's attempt?
