Chapter 359 Arish(2/2)

The archers and cavalry divided a wave of people to approach the door, and they almost shot arrows directly above.

The ejected feather arrow pierced almost straight to the back of the gate.

A scream rang behind the door.

Although it is not clear about the specific casualties of the enemy under such blind shooting, a sudden burst of flames and the subsequent cry of pig-killing cry made Roger know that the enemy behind the door was suffering.

No more flames were dropped from the gatehouse.

So Chumu unscrupulously opened cracks on the door.

Roger waved his arm and Henk blew his horn.

Three teams of crusaders slowly approached the city gate.

In a loud bang and rising smoke, the enemy's door was knocked open.

The close crusaders shouted "God's will" and rushed into the door.

There seemed to be an enemy blocking the gate, which made the Crusaders' team blocked the narrow gate into a group.

Amid the shocking shouts of killing, the knights slowly squeezed in like toothpaste.

Then, as if the sewer pipe was unblocked, the accumulated water suddenly flowed down with a "rattle";

The knights crowded at the door cheered, and all of them rushed in at once.

The sound of fighting sounded in the open places behind the walls.

At Roger's gesture, Henk sounded the horn of the general attack.

The heavy cavalry outside the city rushed into the gate one after another according to the pre-arranged order.

When Roger led his personal guards to the door, the war inside was about to end.

The remnants of the enemy troops gathered in the stone house were chopped and killed by the dismounted knights one by one.

Finally, a knight ran up to the roof and cut the Egyptians' yellow-bottomed March flag with one sword.

The battle is over.

After nightfall, when Roger was having a banquet with the nobles and officers in the stone house, soldiers reported:

"Sir, the pagan Imam asks for advice."

Roger asked someone to bring in.

The elder whose white beard drooped to his chest saluted Roger, and he said in Arabic:

"My kindness, I have been entrusted by the people. Thank you for sending people to protect our mosques and restraining the soldiers and keeping the people of the town safe from the pain of war."

Roger smiled and said in Arabic:

"I am not going to occupy this town permanently, but I am just temporarily stationed here for military purposes. As long as you are willing to cooperate with me, I will not hurt anyone."

"Yes, we must cooperate," Imam praised a few words, and then said, "the people in the town have raised some gold and silver to thank the adults for their kindness."

Roger thought that he had brought out the gold coins he hired for Bedouin, so why did he still need money?

He said politely: "There is no need for gold and silver. I am here to fight, and carrying gold and silver is a burden.

"It's not easy for you, keep your own flowers."

Imam probably didn't expect that there was such a Christian who was not greedy for money. He seemed to be unable to believe it and said for a moment:

"How about I talk to the people and ask them to add some more money."

"It's really not necessary, I'm not short of money."

Roger smiled and refused, then he turned his head and said to the waiter:

"Didn't you see an elder standing here? Why don't you bring your chair over?"

The waiter brought the chair. After a few words of politeness, Imam took a seat next to the edge of the chair with Roger's insistence.

Roger smiled and said, "I have a hobby, I like to eat. When I get to a place, I like to eat local characteristics.

"What do you residents here usually eat?"

Under Roger's kindness, Imam gradually let go of his initial restraint.

He smiled and said, "This place is very desolate and has nothing to eat.

“We sometimes go fishing in the sea, but we don’t have big boats, so we can only fish offshore.

“In addition, you can sometimes pick up some edible aquatic products on the coast.

“When there is water in the Arishi River, we will grow some vegetables by the river.

"Many people in the town also raise camels, and camel milk is our main food.

“But all these foods are secondary because none of them can be preserved for a long time.

"What really needs to maintain the daily needs of the people in this town is the large field of date palm trees to the south.

"Date palms can fill your stomach, and more than a dozen are enough to maintain a person's needs in a day.

"And it can be stored for a long time, picked and placed in a cool and ventilated place, and it won't break even after being stored for a year.
