Chapter 43 The Beginning of a New Conflict

"Okay, okay, okay!" Chu Sinan slapped the table in front of him with one hand, and said three times loudly, and the expression on his face also seemed particularly excited. There was no doubt that he had encountered something happy.

Under the current conditions of war, what else can make him happy? It can only be a victory, and in fact it is indeed the case. Just now, he learned a report of the results that was enough to satisfy him.

During the tank battle on October Farm, the armored brigade led by Sokolov defeated the German troops that originally organized the defense line here, as well as a German armored brigade who came to support later, and successfully occupied this important transportation site. In this battle, the troops led by Sokolov destroyed a total of 77 German tanks and armored vehicles in just half a day of battle, and seized more than 40 artillery types; and killed officers and soldiers below the German major.

More than 1,200 people were captured. At the same time, the troops led by Sokolov suffered little losses. The tank troops lost only more than 20 vehicles, and the losses of anti-tank guns and self-propelled artillery were only more than a dozen, which were lost in the German airstrike. The only loss of the number of losses was the direct infantry brigade that Chu Sinan gave him. In this victorious battle, the elite infantry brigade lost more than 500 people.

Chu Sinan didn't care about the huge losses of his direct infantry brigade. He was in a good mood now, so he also thought that the losses of these soldiers were completely acceptable, even though they were his direct troops.

Now, Sokolov has built a solid defensive position on October Farm. In his telegram to Chu Sinan, he said that if he could allocate two more regiments of infantry forces, he could defend this line for two days, and prevent the German troops from crossing the thunder pool.

Chu Sinan obviously treated Sokolov quite tolerantly. This tolerance even made the staff in the command feel like he had become a different person. Before this, who could say that this general who "killed without blinking" was a tolerant person?

Now, what made Chu Sinan happy is not just the victory achieved by Sokolov in the direction of the October farm. In the narrow direction of Karelia, Cuikov's northern front army also achieved a phased victory. The four Finnish divisions that were originally blocked on the north bank of the Sveri River might have been desperate because of the sudden retreat of reinforcements. So the lonely army, who had been besieged for nearly three weeks and completely lost logistics supplies and support, finally gave up resistance and surrendered to Cuikov's troops.

At this point, the battle of Karelia in the northern line was basically over. Although there were two and a half Finnish divisions and a Norwegian army resisting tenaciously, this could no longer affect the overall situation, and their final demise was just around the corner.

Under such circumstances, Cui Kov decided to draw out the troops of four entire armies from the Northern Front Army he led and support them to the Volkhov battlefield in the command of Chu Sinan to assist him in solving the battle on this line as soon as possible.

When Chu Sinan received this telegram from the Northern Front Command, the troops of these four fronts had already entered the full preparation period. Soon, they could go south and carry out assaults from the rear wing of the German Fourth Tank Cluster. In this way, the situation of the German Fourth Tank Cluster in a very awkward manner. There were encirclements and pursuers behind them, and the logistics supply was cut off. If in the short term, they could not break through the defensive positions established by the Soviet army in the outer area of Volkhov, then it would be a matter of time before they could not break through the Soviet army's defensive positions set up in the outer area of Volkhov.

The Fourth Tank Cluster is a main tank unit of the German army. There is no doubt that the German base camp will never allow them to completely destroy the land. Therefore, in this case, the German troops entrenched in Volkhov and Shipinthelburg will definitely launch a crazy attack on this area in order to save the unit. From this perspective, Chu Sinan can already guess that a new round of fierce battle is about to begin.

Chu Sinan was not afraid of fierce battles. Compared with the previous stage, the situation of the entire Beloye Lake Front Army has improved greatly. First of all, his troops were much more sufficient than the previous stage. A large number of new troops were rushing to this direction from the rear day and night. In addition to Cui Kov's four armies, the troops he could mobilize had already had nine armies with a total of nearly 150,000 troops. Secondly, compared with the previous stage, he also had a large armored force in his hand. As part of it, Sokolov's armored brigade had shown strong combat power in the battle that had just ended. With these two guarantees, Chu Sinan had unprecedented confidence in winning this battle.

Of course, the current situation is not very good. The biggest problem Chu Sinan faces now is that the area he occupied in the direction of Volkhov is still very small, which can be effectively demonstrated from his war zone map. Now, the vanguard of his advance towards the north, that is, Sokolov's armored troops, has just occupied the October Farm, and its offensive in the east and west directions has not yet been launched. On the west side, the troops attacking the southern suburbs of Volkhov have made little progress and have not yet been able to advance to the city's city. In this way, Chu Sinan's troops are equally attacked to the east of Volkhov, west of the Volkhov River, and in a narrow area of only a dozen kilometers, such a narrow area cannot establish a safe and effective strategic depth, and it is also impossible to spread the huge force in his hands.

It was precisely in view of this situation that Chu Sinan and his staff held a consultation after receiving Sokolov's telegram. After discussion, they unanimously agreed that the current battle deployment should be made by the front army should be divided into two aspects, namely, attacking the west and defending the east.

In the east, the Soviet troops were mainly responsible for defensive tasks to resist the offensive of German tank troops withdrawn from the northeast. As long as they could be firmly stuck on the east bank of the Volkhov River, it would be considered an absolute victory.

In the west, Chu Sinan decided to use the forces of two groups to launch a four-wave attack on the German troops guarding the front of Volkhov. The purpose of the battle was to seize the frontier position in the southern suburbs of Volkhov. At the same time, he mobilized another infantry division of an army originally scheduled to attack Kirish, and launched an offensive northward to plan to seize the outer passage of the swamp west of Volkhov. The purpose of the battle was to detour to the northwest of Volkhov and advance with all his might to the north, in order to open up the direct connection between Lieutenant General Popov's 52nd Army and the Front Command.
