Chapter 739 The Realistic Version of Infernal Affairs

Just in October, another eye-catching thing happened in Hollywood. Martin Scorsese released his latest masterpiece "The Walker of the Spot", which once again launched a charge at the Oscars.

After Ryan bought the copyright of the Hong Kong version of Infernal Affairs, Martin, the old man, brought investment from the B-Plan B-film company jointly established by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, gathering luxury casts such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg. After a year and a half, he returned to the gangster theme he was best at.

As one of the four major directors in the 1980s, Martin Scorsese has a great face. On the premiere, not only stars gathered, but even George Lucas, Stephen Spielberg and Francesco Coppola were all present.

Ryan also accepted the invitation. After he walked into the theater, he found that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, who were producers and investors, seemed to have already dispelled their knots after completing the property division and divorce procedures, and appeared under the media's camera at the same time.

If we include Angelina Jolie holding Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow who came with Godfather Spielberg, and all three girlfriends in Brad Pitt's front and back are here.

This is a normal thing in Hollywood and even North American society. Ryan has lived here for so many years and has long known that he cannot view the interpersonal relationships in Western society like he did in his previous life.

"Hi, Ryan."

"Gwyne, you're getting more beautiful."

Gwyneth Paltrow hugged Gwyneth Paltrow, who actively extended his hand, and Ryan praised him casually.

"Oh, is that?" Gwyneth asked, looking very happy, "Where is Nicole? Didn't she come together?"

"I went to another place and talked about copyright with an author."

Hearing Ryan's words, Gwyneth couldn't help but complain. "I really want to talk to her about fashion and babysitting."

She lowered her voice, "A few days ago, I took Aipol to see her sister. The two little guys are very close."

"Wait until Sunny is older." Ryan nodded slightly to Matt Damon passing by and continued, "They can play together."

"It looks like..." Gwyneth seemed to be seriously considering, "I should move back to Los Angeles from New York."

Her eyes moved behind Ryan, "Godfather."

Spielberg and George Lucas walked over together, and Ryan turned around and shook hands with the two, "George Stephen, it's been a long time since we met."

"Yeah, I haven't seen you for a long time," Spielberg said with a smile. "Ryan, we came here to say something to an old friend."

"Yes." George Lucas helped out his glasses, "I heard you helped Nath write a new script? It won't be released this year, right?"

"Nate is not Stephen." Ryan could roughly guess what they wanted to say. After all, among the four major directors, he was the most distant from Martin Scorsese. "That movie won't start filming until early next year."

"That's good." Spielberg attacked Ryan. "There will be no conflict. I believe we will have consistent goals this year and next year."

They are all senior Hollywood people, and there are some things that needless to say, Ryan nodded. "I am a Martin fan."

"Are you really a Martin fan?"

Just as Spielberg, George Lucas and Gwyneth Paltrow left at the same time, another familiar voice rang out from the side.

Ryan turned to see that the woman opposite was slim and had a very contoured face. She had a hooked nose, dark eyes, her lips were prominent and plump. When she smiled, her mouth was curled up, and her white teeth were revealed. This female director in her thirties still looked like a girl.

"This is not the tone a talented director should use."

When dealing with Sofia Coppola, Ryan didn't have so many politeness, "You are a woman that all-American feminists admire."

"The female director with the highest box office in a single film ever?" Sofia Coppola walked straight to Ryan, "What's the truth? You know better than me. It's not so much that I fulfilled "The Hunger Games" made me."

"So..." Ryan spread his hands to him, "I'm waiting for "Catching Fire" to create better box office results."

He walked towards the screening hall first, "It's about to start, go in."

"Ryan..." Sofia Coppola followed from behind, "I've read the manuscript of the third novel. I heard that Disney Pictures wants to make two of them?"

"I have this idea." Ryan turned his head and looked at Sophia. "I'm still studying and discussing it in detail. Don't tell me you want to put Disney pigeons."

"You marked such a large penalty on the director's agreement." Sofia Coppola took Ryan's arm and walked to the seat with him, "I can't afford it."

After Ryan sat down, she walked forward a row and sat next to her father Francesco Coppola.

After looking at Sofia Coppola, Ryan took his eyes back. This is also a person who seriously affected his fate. "The Hunger Games" eventually won a box office of $785.6 million from the world, which also created the status of the female director of Sofia Coppola's film history.

It is conceivable how high a feminists would have put her on such a success in the directorial community that was almost completely dominated by men.

"George..."

Sitting next to Ryan was George Lucas, who turned around and said, "I heard you are going to work with Stephen on the fourth part of "Raiders of the Lost Ark"?"

"You are well-informed." George Lucas nodded, "It is being prepared and is expected to start next year."

"I always thought you were really going to retire?" Ryan said casually.

"I won't direct any more films." George Lucas laughed, "I've retired from the director position."

"It's a pity..." Ryan seemed very sorry, "The only four directors left are Martin and Stephen, who are still releasing their works."

Like an actor, the replacement of new and old belongs to the law of nature, but Martin Scorsese is old and stronger. This "The Walker of the Stop" is undoubtedly a good example.

If it were in his previous life, Ryan would have said that what was filmed in "The Walker of the Side" completely destroyed the artistic conception of the Hong Kong version, but he would not watch it like this again now. In essence, Old Martin's film is only aimed at the North American market and is not filmed for Far East audiences at all.

The Hong Kong version of "Infernal Affairs" is a crime-type film full of romantic sentiments. It can be said to be a typical Hong Kong movie, but "The Walker of the Infernal Affairs" is not a simple remake of "Infernal Affairs", but it is more inspired by the human nature in the story.

In addition to using the same story clues, the script created by William Monaghan is also very different from the Hong Kong version. What really touches people is not the complex relationship between characters, but the strongest and most invincible side of human nature.

To put it bluntly, the Hong Kong version carefully exaggerates a "cool" infernal Affairs, while the beauty is less sensational, deep and cool, creating a more "real" infernal Affairs.

The most typical example is that in the middle of the two films, when the police boss was thrown down from the upper floor, the Hong Kong version used a variety of techniques and soundtracks to render, while the American version is simple, rough and direct. The protagonist only reads one word -!!...

Old Martin is a director deeply rooted in North America. He understands what gangster movies North American audiences like and knows how to cater to the tastes of audiences and even Oscars. This is not a typical Hollywood commercial film targeting overseas markets. From the perspective of the audience, it is even a bit similar to "The Hunger Games".

Therefore, this remake will be criticized very badly after it is released in the Far East, and the film will never be able to shirk the influence of the social and cultural environment.

Just like the Hong Kong version of "Infernal Affairs", it was introduced to North America by Hollywood last year. This classic film, which was even considered a rescue work in the Far East, only won $160,000 in North America...

Just a group of Chinese actors can be said to be a taboo in the film's success in North America.

Sometimes, ideals are full, but reality is extremely cruel. Ryan knows that foreign movies want to enter North America, especially to achieve great success in the box office, are even more difficult than what he said to those students when he was in China.

Many oriental expression techniques like the Hong Kong version of "Infernal Affairs" are definitely unacceptable to North American audiences.

For example, if you say this, Ximen Chuxue is not blew snow, but blood.

This sentence is enough for Chinese audiences. Even if just a line can make people think of the picture, the audience can even imagine such a scene in their minds - ancient towns, small shops, sunset, a sword dripping with blood, a person standing in white clothes without moving, the hem of the clothes fluttered slightly under the blowing of the wind - Sword God, how cool is it?

But what about North America? This typical Eastern method has no market at all, so it needs to be changed to "The Walker" style - staring at the enemy and saying '!'

Reduce sensationalism or pretend to be cool, just to show the true performance of people in fierce conflicts as much as possible. This can be regarded as one of the biggest differences between the American version and the Hong Kong version. Actually, think about the plot at the end of the film, two undercover agents met on the rooftop, one was extremely angry and the other was highly nervous. What would normal people do in this situation?

I'm afraid the situation in the American version is closer to reality, so I beat you up,...

If two people had to say artistic lines with extreme calmness - I'm sorry I'm a policeman - it's obvious that they were too cool in North American films, even the Matrix, which is the most cool movie, would not adopt this plot.

If this kind of scene that can be said to be a box office killer in North America, if it is placed in the East, the treatment will be different. No one can deny that the Hong Kong version of this performance is cool and very good.

(Today I still think the Hong Kong version looks better, but the Hong Kong version is indeed not suitable for North America. Its North American box office is more than 169,000 US dollars...) (To be continued, please search for Astronomy, novels are better, updated and faster!
