Chapter 309 Jerusalem

After arriving in Taipei, Ryan and his group changed their own plane. They did not continue to stay in the Far East. After waiting for the application for the route, they flew directly to Natalie's hometown, the holy city of Jerusalem.

Located in the mountains of Judah between the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean, this city is the holy city of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Jerusalem is its pronunciation, and if explained literally, it is the "city of peace".

But ironically, from ancient times to the present, the wars around the holy city have never disappeared.

Jerusalem is now the capital of Israel. Although it is not recognized by the United Nations and most countries in the world, the city is firmly in the hands of the Jews.

Since we came to the Holy City, Ryan and Natalie naturally have to go to a few holy places to see.

In front of the wall made of huge stones, hundreds of Jews or Jews stood there with solemn faces, and tears were rolling in the corners of many people's eyes.

For thousands of years, when Jews who were wandering in every corner of the world returned to the holy city of Jerusalem, they would come to this stone wall to pray in whisper and cry about the suffering of exile, so this place is called the "Wailing Wall".

"If you don't believe in Judaism, you don't have to cry." Natalie whispered.

"I remember your family doesn't believe in Judaism, right?"

The two walked to the "Wailing Wall". Ryan straightened the hat on his head, imitated Natalie's movements, and looked like praying devoutly.

Natalie first held the wall with her hands, then stuffed a note full of words into the cracks of the wall. Her pious face was like a stone on the "wailing wall", shining like tears and complaining.

Although he was a Jewish descent, Ryan did not know these things. Based on the principle of saying less and making mistakes, he had no unnecessary words or extra actions. After all, this place is not only the dividing line of the Eurasian continent, but also the first holy place for the Jews.

The girls around them have an extraordinary sense of identity with their own nation.

As a bystander and an atheist in his previous life, Ryan could not understand the God in the minds of the Jews, nor could he understand this nation that was a nation that was facing wars in several countries on the first day of its founding.

But he still maintained the necessary respect, which had nothing to do with faith, nor with blood, but with interests.

In any case, the Jewish identity provided too many incognito conveniences for his development in Hollywood.

“What is written on the note?”

After walking out of the square where the Wailing Wall was, Ryan took off the dome hat on his head and changed into his own baseball hat.

"It's prayer, the prayer about the future is a secret." Natalie looked back and saw George and several bodyguards following behind with all concentration, shook her head, "Ryan, the security here is not as bad as you think, this is the Jewish district."

"Hmm~" Ryan nodded without comment.

"Go to the Righteous Avenue and the Holocaust Memorial?" Natalie naturally knew another purpose for Ryan to come here.

Unlike the "Wailing Wall", these two places carry the most painful history of the Jews. Perhaps both of them participated in the filming of "Schindler's List" and had their own understanding of the cruel history fifty years ago.

Due to the limitation of geographical area, the latest certified "righteous man" of Israeli political axe no longer plant trees to commemorate, but the righteous tree here maintains a considerable number. After a few rounds, Ryan and Natalie quickly found their own goal, the most famous of all the righteous people - Oscar Schindler.

The influence of "Schindler's List" is huge. Such a character who was originally unknown and could only be passed down by word of mouth among some Jews, with the help of this movie, has completely become a hero and is remembered and admired by Jews all over the world.

Just as Spielberg and others said, no matter what his original intention of saving people was, it is an indisputable fact that he saved so many Jews.

Standing quietly under the tree for a while, the two turned to enter the Jerusalem Holocaust Memorial Hall.

The memorial is five thousand feet long and has a shape that is the lower triangle of the satellite. The missing part of the upper triangle means the six million Jews massacred during World War II, which is nearly half of the Jews at that time.

Walking into the memorial hall is like entering a time tunnel. In order to show respect for the dead, you cannot take photos or speak loudly. Before everyone enters, you will send a headset. The tour guide's soft whispers are all listened through the headset. On the huge screen that comes to mind are some children singing. This is when some Polish Jewish children sing "Song of Hope" before World War II.

"This is the national anthem of Israel." Natalie whispered.

Perhaps others don’t know it, but she knows that the guy around her has never read the Bible and has no idea how much he knows about the history of the Jews.

Ryan nodded, and did not say much, but used his heart and all his energy to experience all this. According to the scheduled plan, his role next year will inevitably intersect with the Holocaust again. The experience here will definitely be of great help to him grasp the role.

In addition to the fact that this is Natalie's hometown, this is one of the reasons why he made a special trip to Jerusalem.

Following Natalie, Ryan entered the "Memorial Hall of Names", the most dramatic memorial space in the memorial. The thirty-foot-high conical structure opens to the sky, and the names and personal records of millions of Jews died in the Holocaust were placed on the top, and the cones were carved out from natural rock beds to commemorate the unknown victims.

Looking at the densely packed archives on the shelves around him, Ryan didn't know what to say. When the Israeli political axe built the memorial hall, he vowed to find every massacre Jew. So far, detailed archives have been established for more than one million people, and the work of collecting clues about the death of Jews around the world is still underway.

People who visited the memorial, including Ryan and Natalie, remained silent and rarely spoke. Even if they needed to communicate occasionally, they would try to keep their voices down.

Finally, they arrived at the Children's Memorial Hall.

In the darkness, three candles were reflected in countless lights and shadows by the mirror, like stars in the night sky. There were no pictures or images. Only the name and age of each dead child was constantly played on the radio. This is a memorial hall donated by an American Jewish couple to commemorate 150,000 children who died early in the Holocaust.

In fact, since filming Schindler's List, Ryan donated to the memorial through the National Jewish Association for millions of dollars. If he removes his sunglasses and hat and reports his name, he will definitely be warmly received by the Israeli authorities.

After leaving the memorial hall, the two went to Mount Zion again. There were many tombstones of the "righteous people" here, one of which was a Chinese. Israeli Zhengfu specially built the tombstone of He Fengshan here to commemorate the issuer of the "life and death visa".

"This is the Jew, with a clear distinction between love and hate. We will remember that every person who has helped us, and will not let go of any executioner who has massacred the Jews." Perhaps seeing Ryan staring at the handwriting on the tombstone, Natalie whispered this sentence, and then asked, "Is it helpful to you?"

"Faced it bravely and survive with strength." Ryan took Natalie's hand, "I think I've grasped a lot."

"Do you want to listen to music?"

This is a very rare thing. Natalie actually wanted to sing to him. Ryan nodded quickly, "Okay."

Natalie coughed lightly, cleared her throat and started singing softly.

“As long as we are in our hearts,

The soul of the Jews is hidden,

Toward the east,

Still staring at the top of Mount Zion,

Two thousand years of hope,

It won't turn into a bubble,

We will be free people,

Based in Zion and Jerusalem.”

Recalling the movie with a cold smell in his mind, Ryan shook Natalie's hand hard, "Thank you, Nat."

"I hope it will help you."

Natalie gently touched his shoulder with her forehead and said in a complicated way, "Are you going to use this character to attack the best actor?"

"This is just one of the characters I've prepared."

Seeing Natalie's somewhat complicated look, Ryan said, "Nat..."

"Ryan!" Natalie naturally understood what Ryan was going to say and interrupted quickly, "You have helped me too much. Because with you, almost no one has made things difficult for me. Can I try it myself? If it doesn't work, I will speak up on my own."

"Oh well."

After the "Star Wars Prequel" series, Natalie will be completely popular all over the United States. The most difficult period of her transformation will not appear in a few years, and it is not too late for her to take action at that time.

"Did you get the authorization from Mr. Spearman?"

In the car back to the hotel, Natalie was still asking about the notes.

"It has been agreed that according to the agreement reached, half of the proceeds of this film will be donated to the Jewish survivor organization in the future."

"When will the filming start?"

"Probably next year." Ryan seemed to remember Oscar again, "I am only eighteen years old, don't worry, there will always be opportunities."

"Where is the director? Which director is going to find? Mr. Spielberg?" Natalie suddenly laughed playfully, "Ryan, aren't you a top student at the Film Academy of South China University? Why not direct yourself?"

“I have no interest in the director’s job.”

Ryan couldn't hear Natalie's weird tone when she said the word "top student". She quickly shook her head.

"If one day I became a director, the first movie would definitely be filmed in Jerusalem." Natalie looked at the yak building outside the window, saying it for herself and for Ryan. "Don't forget, you said that if I became a director, you would publicly declare on the three major TV networks that Ryan and Jenkins were not as good as Natalie Portman."

"Dear Nat, please don't confuse the concept." Ryan will naturally not forget the words at that time, "My promise is after you win the Oscar for Best Director!"

"Really? I seem to have forgotten." Natalie's expression was extremely serious.

"Nate, I think you need my reminder again." Ryan looked over maliciously. (To be continued.)
