0328 Desolate City

Fortress of San Carlos.

As an important military fortress, the defense here was unexpectedly lax.

Lorraine came from the sensitive river with more than twenty fully armed people, without identification or guidance from acquaintances. She easily entered the city with just a port authority landing permit with an undried ink. She did not encounter any difficulties when entering the city.

The city scene is also very desolate, with uneven dirt roads and dirty and cramped alleys.

As a settlement in the center of the rainforest, most of the buildings here are wooden houses made of local materials. The boards have been simply cut, but there is little carefully decorated paint. The barks of the trees are mottled, with grass, wild flowers, crawling with vines, and even strange mushrooms can be seen.

The tallest building in the fortress is the chapel located in the center. The bell tower on the top is more than the height of the city wall and is about fifteen or sixteen meters high.

The most exquisite building in the fortress is the garrison commander's residence built on the lakeside. It is four-story high, with red roofs and beige walls. Even the vines have been trimmed and cover the left and right, but they are not stained with the main wall at all.

The carriage walked through the alleyway where there were few pedestrians, turned left and right, and stopped in front of a large three-story wooden house.

This wooden house looks history and is absolutely not well maintained.

The old wooden wall was patched like a Masek, and the wood was repaired. However, the owner did not choose a better replacement or inlay, but instead nailed it to the extreme.

When Lorraine saw the sign of the wooden house, Sincadiz, she was convinced that she had really come to a hotel.

He helped Henna jump out of the carriage, and winked, Freemany knocked on the hotel door.

"Come here, come here!"

Fengfeng's voice burst out from the room, and Lorraine looked at the signboard and shivered, and the thin floating dust flowed down the edge of the signboard.

The door opened with a loud bang, and a middle-aged woman with a big waist and round waist tied with an apron was blocked in the aisle, with a flattering smile on her face.

"Welcome to the comfortable Sincadiz! Gentlemen, what can Aunt Poriyani serve you?"

Freemany raised his chin proudly: "How many rooms are there in your hotel?"

"The east and west floors, a total of eighteen rooms."

"Eighteen rooms..." Freemany estimated, "Go and clean up, we'll have them all."

"All needs..." Aunt Polyani hesitated for a while, "Sorry, guests have already booked the eight rooms in the west building. I think the number of gentlemen is not large, so why don't you just stay in the east building?"

"Have you wrapped up?" Lorraine frowned in another place, "San Carlos in the dry season also has such a large abortion?"

"It's definitely not usually." When I saw that it was Lorraine's question, Aunt Poriyani became much more cautious. "It's just a coincidence that a few gentlemen of adventurers came from the other end of the lake more than ten days ago and occupied the west building."

"Mr. Adventurer?"

"It seems that I am here to find some ancient treasure. Twelve people entered the rain forest three days ago, and no news has been heard back so far."

"The adventure team of the Rainforest Treasure...is it an obsessed with the Mayan civilization?"

These brave men who pursued the mystery made Lorraine quite interested.

"Fremany, go check in, the time is... it should be almost the same in a month."

"Yes, sir!"

...

Perhaps the dirty and dilapidated hotel's store was infinitely lowering people's psychological expectations, Lorraine found that the room in Sincadiz was surprisingly good.

There are ten rooms in the West Building. Lorraine and Henna live in a luxurious suite with two bedrooms on the third floor. Leif, Daniel, Bartow and Freemanny each occupy a second-floor single room, with five standard rooms on the first floor, and ten stormtroopers live together, and it just happened to arrange all the people Lorraine brought.

Lorraine followed the maid to the so-called luxurious suite. She saw that the furnishings inside were not luxurious, but they were new, clean, and had a clear view. From the windows, you could see the scenery of the pier by the lake.

He stood by the window and looked at the San Carlos, which was parked quietly in the distance, and unknowingly he became impressed.

"Do you want to grab the boat?" Henna suddenly asked.

Lorraine subconsciously glanced at the room and found that the door was closed and the previous maid had long disappeared.

He sighed.

"Five companies and civilians, two companies of grenadiers, eight shore defense artillery, one Brigentine and full sailors. The information we already know alone is that San Carlos' armed forces are much more than Nelson's guess. With our current state, it is unlikely to conquer here."

"So you want to grab the boat?" Henna asked for the second time.

"Snatching a boat is just one of the means of reservation, not the only option." Lorraine pointed to the view outside the window, "Look, with the church square as the center, this small fortress presents a completely different scene."

"The West City is very clean, with stone slabs on the ground, flower beds on the pier, fountains and benches on the church square, and there are many people on the street, most of them wearing military uniforms."

"The northernmost red roof and yellow walls are, according to Mr. Pilot, the official residence of Commander Torresias. There is a stone barracks in front of his residence, and it is not surprising that it should be the military barracks of the civilian army."

"From north to south, next to the commander's residence is a beautiful lakeside pier. There are only two boats on the berth. Brigentina is obviously the San Carlos, and another large Srup, and if nothing unexpected happens, our neighbors, the adventurers' ships."

"The Port Authority at the Lakeside Wharf is very large, far exceeding the need for tax cards here. I guess the sailors will be there, and the playground on the back of the Port Authority is where they train."

"Further south is the gate of the San Juan River, a suspension bridge, with stone towers on both sides. There are also garrisons there. Since the civilian army controls the fortress, the two grenadier companies should be the ones controlling the suspension bridge."

"Did you see it? Mr. Pilot said this is a military city, but judging from the city's planning, I think the West City is the real military city, and the East City we are in... is probably the place used by the Spanish to accommodate stranded merchants during the flood season."

Henna tilted her head and thought for a while, but found that she couldn't understand the key points, so she simply asked, "What are you going to do?"

"Well...two things."

Lorraine walked to the desk and spread out the paper, writing and talking.

"The first thing is to establish a contact channel with Nelson. When I got off the boat, I arranged a task for Drogo, and he would come to the city every day on the grounds of delivering wine."

"Daniel stayed to connect with him, so that he could find a way to send my letter to Nelson without using the blue dewdrops, and bring back the troops' dynamics and plans."

Henna nodded.

"The second thing, even the little pilot knew that the commander and the two majors were not superiors and subordinates but collaborators, which only means that they were not getting along well, and it was manifested in the open mismatch."

"We need to understand the degree of this inconsistency. Is it a pretending to fight, betrayal, never interact with each other, or I wish that the opponent would bear the failure and die on the spot... This will determine the direction of our next action."

"If you want to understand this, we will get to the military city."

As he spoke, Lorraine put away her pen, folded her letter paper, baked it with red paint, took off the chest ornaments of the tuxedo and poked it hard on the paint, and stamped her private seal.

He stared at Henna maliciously.

"The Castiles and the Moors often have relatives, and there are many relatives of different skin colors in the family. How about being my cousin once?"
