Chapter 28: Qi Jiguang's Military Book

Before we knew it, it was the end of December, and the weather became even colder. During this period, it was a few heavy snowfalls. Perhaps for many people outside the Zhao Family Tun land, they might face the fate of hunger and cold, or even starvation to death, but for the people in the Zhao Family Tun land, this was a busy winter.

After farming in the village, I began to enter intense training.

The Military Weapon Bureau established by Zhao Yan has built a spear for every young man, and at the same time, it has also created thousands of longbows and distributed them.

Most young and strong people are training hard to get a ranking in the team training competition, so that they will get money. The young and strong people who were originally a little resentful about the hard training had no complaints after receiving the subsidies from the Zhao family.

Gun skills, archery and queues are items that every young man must train. Gun skills and queues rank first and archery rank second. After all, not everyone can become a long archer, but it is not that difficult to become a pike.

The purpose of training is discipline first. While training discipline, training courage is also one of the projects arranged by Zhao Yan, so there is a "cliff jumping" project, and each village hero jumps off a two-meter-high stone.

This is what Zhao Yan saw from Qi Jiguang's "The Real Documents of Military Training", and at the same time he remembered that Yu Dayou, who was also in the same period, also had the same thoughts.

The training method of stripping down from the stone is to learn Yu Dayou's method. Fujian still retains Yu Dayou's "training gallstones".

Recently, Zhao Yan has been reading "The True Military Training" and "The New Book of Ji Xiao" all day long, except for building a factory. These two military books were written by Qi Jiguang.

In the 39th year of Jiajing (1560), Qi Jiguang used the battle gap to write the "New Book of Ji Xiao". In the preface, he said: "Ji Xiao is not a simple word; it is said that the new book is clear, so it is clear that it is based on the law, but not sticking to the law, and it is appropriate to be in line with the times." The book explains the selection of soldiers, orders, tactics, camps, martial arts, guarding whistles, and water battles, and also absorbs the valuable experience of contemporaries. For example, Volume 12 includes Yu Dayou's "Sword Sutra" and Volume 14 includes boxing techniques from various boxing schools. This book is a summary of his experience in fighting Japanese pirates, and it is also the teaching book for him to train the Qi family army.

"The Real Estate of Military Training" is a military book written by Qi Jiguang when he was guarding Jizhou. It was completed in the fifth year of Longqing (1571). In terms of military training, Qi Jiguang advocated strict control, understanding kindness and power, and correcting his status. During training, he should practice the methods of army, courage, ears and eyes, hands and feet, and camp formation. Regarding the shape of the army, marching rules, camping arrangement, camping rules, combat discipline, and precautions, Qi Jiguang also made a systematic explanation. In terms of general training, Qi Jiguang believed that generals must have both morality, talent, knowledge, and art. In terms of military training, Qi Jiguang introduced in detail the organization of the horse camp, the siege camp, and the baggage camp, as well as the selection and training methods of various military training. "The Real Estate of Military Training" is a summary of Qi Jiguang's experience in guarding the border.

These two military books are simply Zhao Yan's supreme guidance, because they stipulate various regulations of the army.

Qi Jiguang believed that although the "Sun Tzu's Art of War" was subtle, it was like the so-called superior teaching of Zenists, and the lower scholars were caught off guard.

It means that although Sun Tzu's Art of War is exquisite, for those who have never experienced war, they don't know how to do it even if they know it.

Zhao Yan deeply agrees with this view. He has been so sad about Sun Tzu's Art of War, but that is something that only masters can use. If they do not reach a certain level, Sun Zhi's Art of War can only be a theory on paper.

The victory of the Qi family army is also based on strict and even harsh military laws: if the battle is not effective and the battle is defeated, the main general will be killed in battle, all the side generals will be beheaded. All the side generals will beheaded. All the Qian Generals will beheaded. All the hundred generals will beheaded. All the hundred generals will beheaded. All the flag generals will beheaded. The flag generals will beheaded. The captain will beheaded. The captain will beheaded. The soldiers under the army are not captured, and all the ten soldiers will beheaded. The reward for the killing level is also quite abundant, with a reward of 30 taels of silver at each level! In this way, every soldier will fight with all his strength and fight until he wins or dies in battle.

The first level reward of 30 taels! Zhao Yan's face twitched a little. Such a generous reward of 30 taels was supported by the country.

At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court did not have so much money, nor did he have so much money.

At the same time, the Ming court's "first-class system" also had many criticisms. This happened when Zhao Yan faced the bandits last time.

Everyone is snatching the heads, so there is no time to cut the heads during the battle.

Whether it was the Japanese pirates in the south or the nomadic people in the north, they all used the Ming court's system of commemorating the first-level meritorious service to deal with the Ming army.

Generally, some heads are used as bait, and then they take advantage of the Ming army's opportunity to fight for the heads. This military merit system has caused many defeats, which instead weakened the Ming army's combat effectiveness.

At the same time, the most criticized thing is to kill good people and make achievements. The reason why there were so many examples of killing good people and making achievements in the late Ming Dynasty was because of this military merit system.

Some military books written by Ming people also proposed that "the merit is based on combat performance" is placed above the "first merit system", and there are many suggestions.

The real application of the suggestion is Qi Jiguang. It is stipulated that soldiers responsible for rushing are not allowed to carry untied swords. When they encounter a trap, they will rush forward. The soldiers who specialize in cutting their hands in the team will be responsible for the head level. After returning to the camp, they will be divided equally according to the different types of troops.

At the same time, if you fight for the head and behead the party if you lose the blame, the captain of our team will also be punished.

These systems are clearly stated in Qi Jiguang's two systems, and Zhao Yan's admiration for Qi Jiguang increased a little more at this moment.

Qi Jiguang's experience is like a shining beacon that can guide Zhao Yan forward. Although he worships, he is determined to transcend.

...

After the glass factory was completed, Zhao Yan led his men to build a cement factory and a gunpowder factory.

In terms of cement, it is made of limestone, clay, gypsum, and several other materials mixed and calcined. This formula was prepared by Zhao Yan during a later research institute.

The strength of this kind of cement is pretty good, similar to that of ordinary cement, but the conditions are limited after all, so don’t think about those special cements.

At the same time, due to the lack of machinery, we can only use animal power to grind, and the production speed is relatively low.

There is also a shortage of talent in craftsmen!

If there are talents, Zhao Yan can just draw a drawing for them. Don’t expect steam engines, water presses are still feasible.

It just so happens that there is a relatively turbulent river next to Zhaojia Village.

In terms of gunpowder factory construction, it was also all built by Zhao Yan. The Ming court strictly controlled firearms and gunpowder, and the people generally did not know how to make them.

The most important thing for a gunpowder factory is the fire kiln. Only by treating saltpeter and sulfur with white radish and egg whites can we create satisfactory gunpowder.

However, the source of raw materials for gunpowder is worrying. There are very few saltpeter ores in Shandong, and there are almost no gunpowder. If you want to use saltpeter to make gunpowder, you have to buy it. Fortunately, although the Ming court has strict control over this, it is also possible to buy corruption in the officialdom and stuff silver. In addition to saltpeter, you can only use the method of collecting nitro earth to make gunpowder, which is just a bit troublesome.

The gunpowder factory is located outside the fort, and Zhao Yan has formulated strict regulations to restrict workers, hoping that there will be no explosion, but he is not sure. Many accidents have happened and accidents...

The research on flintlock rifles has progressed smoothly. The structure of flintlock rifles is actually very simple. Later generations of this kind of gun-fired device has become a toy for many children. They are equipped with circles of gunpowder and fired it. However, the materials used by those unscrupulous manufacturers are very cheap. I don’t know whether it is copper or something. Anyway, it is not iron or steel. It is always broken after a few days of shooting.

Generally, after the toy gun is scrapped, Zhao Yan will bring the rounds of gunpowder to the school, press it with a stool, and then... a loud bang.

For this reason, Zhao Yan was punished by his teacher for a whole morning when he was a student.

In the study of flintlock rifles, the Ming Dynasty was not much later than in the West. Bi Maokang, a firearm researcher in the Ming Dynasty, built a flintlock rifle in 1635. The flintlock rifle is equipped with a flint automatic ignition device, so it is not afraid of wind and rain, and does not require a flint ignition in advance. The firing speed and accuracy have been greatly improved.

In 1635, the eighth year of Chongzhen, now it is the end of the sixth year of Chongzhen. In this year, after Kong Youde surrendered to the Qing Dynasty, he found the emptiness of Lushun and took the opportunity to capture Lushun. Huang Long, the general of Jiangdong, left behind the poem "I didn't love a five-foot body during my lifetime, but only had a three-foot sword after my death" and committed suicide.

The structure of a flintlock rifle is not difficult, but the hammer needs to be paid attention to in the material. It is best to use steel bars. If you use it a few times more, you will be interrupted.

The real problem is still in the manufacturing of muskets. Although Zhao Yan has studied muskets, drilling of muskets is really a problem. Using primitive methods to drill slowly is too slow and it is time-consuming and labor-intensive. His skills in this regard are definitely not as good as those of the craftsmen in the army who specialize in building firearms.

But he doesn't have those talents at hand.

If you use hydraulic power to drill holes, you have to create hydraulic machinery, which will take some time...
