Chapter 11 Records of Investigation and Inquiry

Halandil has become accustomed to death on the battlefield. It is common for half-elves to be burned, killed or crushed, but Miss Rose's death is even more miserable.

She was like a frog on the laboratory bench, beaten, cut open, and took out her internal organs by a clumsy intern.

The important witness was lost, but her death meant that there were clues to the truth.

Miss Rose's belongings were mainly personal clothing, most of which were relatively new, and were neatly packed in packages. Her property was also quite rich, including about five thousand silver coins, silver coins, and some notes and securities. According to the humans present, this money could be bought in the countryside.

In addition, Miss Rose had some dextrozine and other anesthetics, just like other humans living under the ground of Canaan. However, she had no habit of writing diaries and had no suspicious items to preserve.

After inspection, all the property of the victim, suspect and victim were transported to a patrol site on the nearby ground, where professionals were inspected. The official senior investigator also arrived quickly and organized an assault interrogation of Brutus.

A group of investigators, some elves and half-elves, surrounded Brutus. Then, the headed official came in from outside. He was a pure elves, and he could be seen as a wizard in terms of his dress and temperament.

An elf investigator immediately said: "His Excellency Samuel Sevicus, this is the suspect, Sequence 7 The Witchhunter Brutus, who appeared next to the victim and attacked the investigator..."

Chief Samuel raised his hand and said that he knew the situation without further details. He sat down on the chair, looked at the strong half-elf-hunter tied in front of him, and tapped on the table:

"Tell me. Cherish your few opportunities to speak. Why did you attack the Captain of Halandil Assault?"

"He didn't wear the investigator's badge and suddenly appeared there, and I suspected he was a member of the party. I felt the danger and fear and decided to leave as soon as possible."

"Where are your accomplices?"

Brutus shook his head: "I have no accomplices. Miss Rose was just killed when I arrived. A surprisingly twisted shadow flashed through the darkness. It's hard to describe, I've never seen a similar creature. Miss Investigator can prove that she pursued."

Chief Samuel glanced at Pilottis, the girl nodded and briefly described her experience.

Halandil was broken in the fight just now, and there were several wounds. After simple bandage treatment, he also attended the interrogation together.

Brutus was still calm. He pondered for a moment, as if he was sorting out his head: "I did not kill Miss Rose. Understanding the secrets that Lord Antiha had encountered before his life was the only thing I was concerned about. I appeared there just to ask Rose in person and get clues about Antiha."

"Why do you care about this?"

"Mr. Antiha had intermittent mania during the command process. He had talked to himself several times, not to give orders, but to murmur in a low voice," Brutus hesitated for a while, "Mr. Antiha, I owe my comrades an explanation."

What does this mean? Is it an explanation for some of Antiha's behaviors that owed a half-elf to die in battle? Halandil wanted to ask a question. He opened his mouth, and suddenly a pain appeared on his instep. The investigator lady stepped on his instep with a look of motion, indicating that he should not talk too much.

Samuel, the elf commander who led the inquiry, first looked through the case file he brought, and then asked dissatisfiedly: "Which whispered? What did he say? Why didn't you report it before!"

"Sir, even if I report it, before the bad signs appear, the superiors will regard it as a pressure from the battle," Brutus shook his head slightly. "He muttered broken words, chaos, nothingness, but it made me feel uneasy-"

Immediately afterwards, Brutus began to retell the whisper he heard from Antiha. The broken moan was so ethereal and mysterious that the investigators present did not react for a moment.

He repeated the following words:

“He comes from a faraway place, and the elect has been chosen, but I am not in it.

"That wasn't last time, and this wasn't, but I'm very close.

"This is not OK, but it feels OK."

The room was silent, and everyone stared at Brutus with wide eyes, immersed in the whisper he had just retelled.

"Which is this?" asked Chief Samuel.

"I don't know either," Brutus shook his head, "but I had a profound influence on this sentence. At that time, the squadron had been destroyed, and I was not instructed after asking for help. Just as I was about to die with my comrades, Antiha said this. I felt that he was not talking to me, but focusing on something else."

"time?"

"The day when the 103 Squadron was destroyed, May 12, 1443."

Halandil didn't feel anything about this date. This time was almost the day after he came to this world and merged with his current body. However, the continuous frozen sleep and the hypnosis and hints of the official stable warrior's emotions damaged his memory and made him unable to accurately grasp the clues.

"You unhonest miscellaneous," Chief Samuel shouted angrily, "Do you want to disturb the investigation with these divine things? Take him away and inform the headquarters to prepare confessions and seals for the psychic pathways. I will pry open his head in person."

After saying that, the elf chief stood up and said to Pilotis present: "Little girl, continue your investigation and submit it to me after the clues of the prostitute."

The investigator stood attentively and watched the senior investigator leave the scene with Brutus.

...

Next, Harandil was familiar with the visits and investigations. The investigator and lady worked with him until late at night, inquiring and investigating all relevant people who could be found.

When the heavy and trivial work was halfway through, the superior sent her a copy - the inquiry transcript of the victim Miss Rose, who had just been transferred from the archives room.

The inquiry transcript was from the Human Resources Commission and was produced several months ago. After Rose was expelled by Antiha, he was recorded by staff members who were also human.

"Let's take a look," Pilottis rubbed his forehead, "see if there are any clues, and then we continue to ask the prostitutes."

Halandir nodded. He had been busy for a day and had just been beaten and felt uncomfortable all over.

What's even more strange is that he felt soft and not as capable and agile as the extraordinary veteran of Sequence 8, but like a ball of light cotton.

"Are you okay? Your face is so bad," the girl tilted her head at him. "We'll go home after we'll handle this."

"Ros's Inquiry Record" records the following dialogue-

Rose: "Mr. Antiha rarely leaves his basement. I wait for him in the living room all night. If he is not allowed to disturb him, he will be furious."

Recorder: "Have he mentioned to you the research he is doing?"

Rose: "No, he had no interest in talking about this to me, and he didn't even have the interest to talk about whether the food was delicious. But sometimes, he would be very excited."

Recorder: "Mr. Antiha accused you of burglary and spying on confidential matters. What do you have to defend?"

Rose: "It's unfair! Really! I was so happy when I got this job. You know, a mate like me can have the opportunity to serve a real elf, with its own room and all kinds of food, and even... I can do whatever I want to do. I strictly abide by all the rules and do not dare to neglect at all! With such a good opportunity, why do I steal? What confidential matters are worth my peeking! If it's not for the service of the elf, I would have wanted to dig them down."

Recorder: "You mean Lord Antiha has falsely accused you, and his mental state is unstable?"

Rose: "No, no. I absolutely don't mean that. All this may be a misunderstanding. A few days ago, he was very excited and happy. I had a fellow villager who was pregnant last week and could get citizenship. Lord Antiha was so excited like her. I was deeply impressed."

Recorder: "Tell me specifically."

Rose: "I don't know why he was excited. But when he came out of the basement, he fell down and a few pieces of drawing paper scattered. I saw one of them, very clear, as if something was on the painting was placed in front of me."

Recorder: "What is that?"

Rose: "It looks like a disc, the metal shell looks very hard, but part of it looks like muscles and blood vessels, which is a bit scary."

Recorder: "Mr. Antiha is angry?"

Rose: "Yes, he was furious and accused me of being clumsy, but he fell down by himself. I was even half a living room between him and I. That night, I received a notice that I was fired."

...

It now seems that Rose may have witnessed images of some confidential objects and was dismissed. After that, she herself entered the sewer and became a prostitute, and Antiha continued her own research, and this irrelevant state lasted for a while.

Halandier collected the document and called in another prostitute waiting for inquiry.

The girl is over twenties, familiar with Rose, and has no legal identity. She is frightened and walks tremblingly, afraid that the investigator will deal with her. She looks at Halandil with a flattering face, and her flattering expression seems to make her do whatever she wants. Pilottis sat behind the table, her cold eyes like two sharp swords. The girl suddenly reacted and stood honestly in front of the investigator, and took the initiative to explain:

"Rose's financial situation is quite good. She recently got a lot of money and said she would not pick up customers."

The investigator glanced at the prostitute: "When did you say it?"

"Just a few days ago. This is true. Sir, Rose is preparing to leave Canaan and go back to her hometown to live. She has said more than once that she wants to buy a small farm and raise lambs and cows, and there is fresh cheese and milk every day. She also said that there is a boy in her hometown who has loved him since she was a child, and he is very hardworking and simple. After returning to her hometown, she can consider marrying him."

Halandil felt that the prostitute's face looked strange when he said this.

"So why did she go out to pick up customers again tonight?"

"I don't know that. She bought a lot of things in a few days and was going to take them out. You know, the outside world can't buy good things here. Perfume, good clothes, and leprazine, these good things are not available in the countryside."
