Chapter 3: Second Uncle

The summer evening breeze blew away the remaining heat waves in the streets and also blew away the unhappiness in Hu Shanshan's heart.

After walking out of the cafe, the little resentment was soon relieved. Facing the gentle evening breeze, Hu Shanshan hummed a little dick and rode her bike home.

Hu Shanshan is a girl who grew up in a single-parent family. She has never seen her father since she was a child and has depended on her mother Du Meiling for life.

The mother and daughter live in poverty and are embarrassed, but they are comfortable and warm, which makes her develop a kind of contentment, carefree, not making or jealous, and live happily every day.

Hu Shanshan’s greatest life ideal is to find a good husband for herself and a good husband for her mother...

My mother’s job is difficult. That old woman has been a widow for half her life and may have lost interest in men!

Whenever Hu Shanshan thinks of this, she can't help laughing. She secretly speculates:

"Maybe this is her cleverness, Uncle Xia, Uncle Li, Uncle Zhang... There are many attentive uncles in the neighbors!"

...

While thinking about it, the bicycle turned the corner and stopped in front of a small red brick building that was incompatible with the times.

The community is an old building from the 1970s, with no property or community security, and there are no street lights in the corridors.

After parking the bicycle, Hu Shanshan looked up at the balcony on the third floor, where there were swaying figures and mottled lights reflected on the glass, which made her feel a headache!

"It must be my second uncle again!"

Among relatives, Hu Shanshan hates this second uncle the most.

Maybe it can be said that he is a rich man! Among the relatives, only the second uncle is the richest.

The second uncle is a commercial giant who does antique business. His store is his store in half of the antique street in the provincial capital.

Hu Shanshan heard from others that his father was also an antique businessman. The two brothers started from scratch and had a good business journey, but on the way to the countryside to receive goods, his father was harmed and never went home again.

Since then, the second uncle rarely comes here again. When he comes, he also advises her mother to remarry. Whenever this happens, Du Meiling will always have a fight with the second uncle and throw away the things at home.

So in Hu Shanshan's impression, as long as the second uncle comes, he has to buy the dishes, vases and even TVs at home. The mother and daughter live in poverty, and sometimes the mother needs to work for several months to earn enough money to make up for them.

Although the second uncle is rich, he has never helped his sister-in-law and nephew. His attitude towards Hu Shanshan is not kind enough, and he always makes her feel a domineering aura.

After Hu Shanshan was admitted to college, she often passed by antique streets while shopping with her classmates. Occasionally, she ran into her second uncle. He looked at Hu Shanshan condescendingly, as if she was afraid that her niece would rely on his property.

...

Hu Shanshan turned around and looked for it. When she saw a black Mercedes-Benz of Cen Liang, she became more convinced of her guess.

She seemed to realize something, but she hurriedly climbed the stairs to go home. She muttered as she walked: "Tomorrow is my big day, don't let Da Lingzi (mom) smash the house again!"

Sure enough, as soon as he entered the house, Hu Shanshan saw her mother sitting at the dining table, wiping her tears angrily, but her second uncle had a stance to seek punishment. She stood in front of her mother, her fingers were pressed upside down on the dining table and smashed them densely.

"You are still so stubborn. If my brother is here, he will not allow you to make such arrangements..."

Halfway through his words, the second uncle saw Hu Shanshan coming home, and his eyebrows tightened, and he swallowed the words behind him.

"Shan Shan, come here..."

Uncle Er waved to her coldly, took out a cigarette box from his arms, popped out one, pinched the cigarette butt and slammed the back of his hand...

"Get married tomorrow?" Uncle Er suddenly asked with his face on his face, frowned slightly, and his eyes were arrogant and cold.

Nodded, Hu Shanshan walked to her mother.

Holding my mother's shoulder, Hu Shanshan bit her thin lips and raised her face and asked, "Uncle Second, I am 25 years old, isn't it early to get married?"

Uncle Er narrowed his eyes slightly, looked at Hu Shanshan, pinched off the cigarette butt in his hand, and lit it in his mouth...

As the smoke and dust spread, a tense atmosphere rippled in the 60-square-meter room.

But the second uncle didn't ask anything again, sat down and took a few deep breaths of cigarettes, and vomited them out.

"Yes! It's been 25 years!"

He murmured, stunned for a while, suddenly his eyes tightened again, threw Yanxing on the ground, stepped on his shiny leather shoes and crushed them.

"Then let it be! I still have something to do. I'll see you and my mother in a while..."

The second uncle was serious and indifferent. Even though Hu Shanshan was full of dissatisfaction, she did not dare to act rashly in front of him.

When he saw Mercedes-Benz driving outside the window, Hu Shanshan felt relieved, wrinkled her nose outside, and bulged her mouth and complained: "I'm crazy! What's your business with my marriage?"

Sora complained, and Hu Shanshan hugged her mother's shoulder again, raised her eyebrows and said, "Da Lingzi, you performed well today and didn't smash things. I thought..."

Before Hu Shanshan could finish his words, Du Meiling suddenly grabbed her arm in a daze, and asked with her breathless eyes, "Shanshan, tell your mother honestly, what kind of person is that Lu Xia?"

"ah?"

Hu Shanshan was confused and looked at her mother with her eyes blinking. She didn't understand what she was asking for for a while.

"He...is that's it! You're also satisfied with it when you come to our house so many times?"

Hu Shanshan suddenly began to worry that her mother would change her mind. She was about to come to welcome her tomorrow. At this time, she would review her character and family background. Is it a little late?

Du Meiling looked slightly lazy with her eyebrows, her palms were smoothing down Hu Shanshan's temples, and she said earnestly: "Shanshan, mom is the only daughter like you. You must keep your eyes open for marriage, don't..."

Halfway through, Du Meiling couldn't continue to say anything. She covered her mouth and choked up. After a while, she continued the previous sentence: "But don't be like your mother, knowing people without checking them, which will make you lonely for half your life..."

"Where are you lonely? Don't you have me!"

Hu Shanshan walked around her mother's back, pinched her shoulders, hugged her, and rubbed her face against her mother's hair.

As he shook hissingly, Hu Shanshan laughed: "Da Lingzi, are you afraid that you will be alone after I get married? Otherwise... you can marry me too! I see Uncle Zhang on the back street is pretty good..."

Du Meiling's body stiffened, shook her arms violently, patted her daughter and scolded, "How old is she, she still talks nonsense!"
