378 Defence of Petrograd
The Baltic Fleet has turned against it!
Is this news spreading wildly, and is the great fleet that made great contributions to the October Revolution finally going their separate ways with the Bolsheviks?
The Petrograd Party Committee was shocked, and the Petrograd Soviet was also shocked. A timid person as timid as Zinoviev was instantly shrouded in pessimism. He was anxious and shouted at the party committee meeting: "Defending Petrograd has become an impossible task. The most urgent task is to withdraw the Soviet and the party committee from this city safely and decently!"
A certain immortal would never accept such a suggestion. Petrograd said that he could give up. You patted his butt and gave up the military factory, arsenal and millions of people to the White Army?
As soon as he rushed back to Petrograd, Li Xiaofeng threw all the people in Cheka on the streets and arrested all suspicious people who spread rumors and agitated the masses. He could directly kill them if necessary. Petrograd immediately imposed martial law and curfew, and all news published by newspapers shall not be printed without the approval of Cheka.
"What's the use of doing this!" Zinoviev scoffed at the response method of a certain immortal, "You are covering up your ears and stealing the bells. Even the Baltic Fleet has rebelled. What's the use of us controlling the mouths of the masses?"
Li Xiaofeng glared at him and asked angrily: "Who told you that the Baltic Fleet has rebelled?"
Without waiting for the big bloom face to answer, Li Xiaofeng slapped the table angrily: "The main forces of the Baltic Fleet are all in Vyborg Bay to support the Volunteer Army's battle. Before I return to Petrograd, they are still bombarding the Finnish White Army violently. Is this called rebellion? Use your pig brain to think about it carefully, how is this possible!"
Zinoviev said dissatisfiedly: "How is it impossible? Kronstadt took the initiative to cut off the liaison with us. According to the reaction of the liaison officers I sent to Kronstadt, the Red Mountain Fort has announced an uprising and they have joined the White Army. Doesn't this explain the situation?"
Li Xiaofeng gave him a blank look and snorted: "In other words, your people have not arrived at Kronstadt at all, and they don't know the actual situation there. Just relying on the situation at the Hongshan Fort, we came to a ridiculous conclusion. Is this how you do it?"
Just as Zinoviev was about to say something, Li Xiaofeng said flatly: "Send a telegram to Basilev in my name and ask him to send a fast destroyer back to Kronstadt immediately to find out what was going on the island!"
As he said that, he looked up at Zinoviev and said, "Before this, our first priority is to regain the Red Mountain Fort!"
Zinoviev laughed and said, "Are you kidding when you take back the Hongshan Fort? How can we get the troops to regain a solid fort? We should retreat immediately..."
Before he finished speaking, Li Xiaofeng slapped the gun on the table with a snap and said viciously: "From now on, according to the power granted by the central government, any words and deeds that ease their words and actions that spread rumors or exaggerate the terrifying atmosphere will be treated as counter-revolutionary behavior!"
Zinoviev: "You..."
"What are you?" Li Xiaofeng squirted his saliva, "Even if you dare to say nonsense, give up Petrograd, I will be the first to shoot you!"
Zinoviev was frightened. Facing the hideous immortal, he couldn't help but choose to retreat. Of course, this guy was eager to see a certain immortal touching a bloody head at the Hongshan Fort.
So what is the situation when Hongshan Fortress and Kronstadt get it?
As Li Xiaofeng said, it is absolutely impossible for all members of the Baltic Fleet to rebel. After Durbinko's lesson, with Trotsky's efforts, he gradually transformed the Baltic Fleet and slowly transferred or cleared out the fleet by those Ukrainian sailors. Overall, the party's control over the fleet is getting stronger and stronger, and it is basically impossible for a large-scale rebellion to occur.
The rebellion of the Hongshan Fortress actually has little to do with the Baltic Fleet, mainly because there was a problem with the Red Seventh Army stationed there. The 7th Army was responsible for defending the Petrograd Gate. The long-term garrison had an adverse impact on the morale of the troops, and the revolutionary vigilance was greatly weakened; some outstanding cadres and combat squads were successively transferred out to support other fronts with more intense struggles.
As the morale of the 7th Army continued to decline, and as some counter-revolutionaries in the officer class were bribed, the rebellion broke out. Under the instigation of Learwin, Colonel Lyudvest, the chief of staff of the 7th Army, chose to betrayal, not only leaked the entire military deployment of the 7th Army to Yudenic, but also, with the cooperation of a few "like-minded" reactionary officers, he instigated a large number of soldiers with unsteady will, turned their guns and occupied the Hongshan Fort.
Kronstadt is actually not a big problem. Although there are certain counter-revolutionary behaviors, such as destroying communication lines and spreading a lot of rumors within the fleet, the chaos caused is not too great and is still within a controllable range.
It was at this time that Yudenic's vanguard cavalry finally escaped from Vorolov's harassment and arrived in Gatchina. Even the forefront vanguard could see the golden dome on the Cathedral of St. Isaac.
It was at this time that Finnish radio stations first broadcast that Yudenic troops occupied Petrograd. The ambassadors of the Allied Powers to Helsinki also officially reported the news to their governments. As a result, news of the fall of Red Petrograd was spread throughout Europe and the world, and a Swedish newspaper even called it "Petrograd World Week".
In this chaos, Trotsky arrived in Petrograd. The mess placed in front of Lao Tor can be said to be a mess. The Seventh Army had almost collapsed completely. Except for a few troops who were still fighting to fight against Yudenic, the main force had fleeing back to Petrograd and was even preparing to continue to escape in the direction of Moscow.
Gatchina has been occupied by Yudenic, and the big bald troops are preparing to cut off the railway between Petrograd and Moscow. It can be said that Trotsky is a little late, so he is probably caught by the big bald troops.
Petrograd was in a state of panic. Everything was going bad; the army was retreating step by step and was defeated. The Red Army commanders and fighters looked at the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks looked at Zinoviev, and Zinoviev was the culprit of all chaos.
Trotsky later recalled: "Zinoviev was already silly."
Regarding Zinoviev's performance at that time, Trotsky kept sarcastic and ridiculing in his memoirs: "...Zinoviev was in a smooth time, in Lenin's words, he could climb to the seventh level in the day of "all good luck". But when he encountered danger, he lay on the sofa (not a metaphor, it was indeed). He sighed. From 1917, we found that Zinoviev's emotions were always at two extremes, not
The seventh heaven is the sofa, and there is no middle state. This is no exception. When I walked into Zinoviev's office, he was already lying on the sofa... Everyone felt this. It was affected by this emotion everywhere. I called the military garage from Smolny and asked them to send a car. The car came very late. I could feel a cold, despair and doomed emotion from the voice of the dispatcher, which had spread among the grassroots administrative organs."
Trotsky seemed very proud of his writing: "I decided to take firm measures because the enemy was at the gate. In this case, I could only rely on my train team members - they could trust in any difficult conditions. I was given heavy responsibilities. This time I sent them to various departments to check work, apply pressure, establish contacts, replace incompetent personnel and block gaps, etc. Since formal institutions are no longer trusted, I had to go several levels and go directly to the party organizations, factories and military camps in various districts. Many people think that the city will change hands in the short term. Therefore, they dare not show up too much. But later people felt from themselves that Petrograd would not give up, and if necessary, they would have to carry out street fighting to defend her, so they immediately became excited."
"...The brave and fearless people are excited and fighting spirit. Teams of men and women walked out of the factory with tools on their shoulders and came to the streets. Many women carried real rifles or stood beside machine guns. The city was divided into several districts, led by several workers' commands. The most important area was lacquered with iron caltrops, and the range was determined in advance. About 60 artillery pieces were set up at each square and important intersection, and all were camouflaged. The trenches, small street parks, walls, fences and houses were built. Trenches were dug on the outskirts and the Neva River, and the entire southern suburbs of the city became a fortress. Barriers were also built on many streets and squares. From workers' residential areas to barracks, the logistics forces and frontier positions were presented with a new atmosphere everywhere."
After writing this, Trotsky became more and more proud: "I issued a special order - not to lie about military information, and to say that the troops retreat in a hurry were tenacious battles. Although the positions were clearly falling, they did not report the information. Anyone who lies about military information was punished for rebellion. Militarily, mistakes were allowed, but fraud was not allowed, deceiving and deceiving themselves... When a retreating force almost rushed to the headquarters of Alexander Rovka, I immediately rode a horse around me and drove the surrounding troops back. In the beginning, there was chaos, and no one knew what happened, and some people were still retreating. I had to ride a horse to chase them one by one..."
"Until then I found that my messenger Kozlov, a veteran of a peasant from the outskirts of Moscow, had been running closely behind. He was so excited that he held a revolver in his hand, chasing the scattered soldiers, shouting: 'Don't be afraid, boys, Comrade Trotsky is commanding us..."
"... The retreating scattered soldiers saw me riding on the horse. At that moment, I felt that their eyes changed, no longer confused, no longer confused... The soldiers turned their heads and began to advance, and their speed was no less than that of retreating just now. No soldier fell behind. After walking about two miles, the bullets began to roar in people's ears. Several people fell, but none of the soldiers retreated and fled again... This scene made me deeply feel that I could definitely defend Petrograd!"
To be honest, Trotsky was quite outstanding in the battle to defend Petrograd. He stabilized people's hearts in time and played the role of a stabilizing force. However, in the battle to defend Petrograd, he was not only outstanding, but many people performed no less than him, but they were not reflected in his memoirs.
For example, before Trotsky arrived in Petrograd, his Cheka first began to stabilize the situation, arrested and executed a group of counter-revolutionaries who spread rumors, spread rumors and fled fearing the enemy. This prevented the situation in Petrograd from further deteriorating. It laid a solid foundation for Trotsky's overall stability.
Li Xiaofeng not only made strong political attacks, but also turned the tide in military affairs. The Red Mountain Fort located in the Gulf of Finland is like a thorn. If this crucial fort is not recaptured, when Yudenic's army arrived at the city of Petrograd, the heavy artillery on the fort could destroy Petrograd. It can be said that only by recapturing the Red Mountain Fort can it be possible to defend Petrograd.
Li Xiaofeng did this. When Trotsky was still on the way, when he was on the Second Regiment of the Volunteer Army, the main force of the Third Regiment had not yet fully arrived in Petrograd. A certain immortal took only one battalion of troops and took back this crucial fort with a beautiful surprise attack in the night. Colonel Lyudwest, who was leading the rebellion, and hanged Colonel Lyudwest and his gangsters on the square of the Palace.
The threat of the Red Mountain Fort was lifted, not only the century-old ancient city of Petrograd avoided the pain of artillery attack. More importantly, the connection between Kronstadt and Petrograd was restored, and the Baltic Fleet sailors who had obtained the correct instructions were immediately organized and transported 4,000 sailors to Petrograd in a very short time.
These precious sailors further stabilized the situation in Petrograd, and they immediately went to the front line to block Yudenic. It was the joining of these sailors that finally made the collapsed Seventh Army regain its foothold. Otherwise, what's the point even if Trotsky arrived at Petrograd? How can I resist Yudenic in just an empty city?
A certain immortal performed more than so many times. When Gatchina lost and Yudenic's army was aiming directly at the city of Petrograd, Trotsky was on the last line of defense in the Pulkovo Heights, and at the critical moment when he tried to make the Red Army soldiers burst out their final strength to fight Yudenic to the death. Li Xiaofeng arrived with his volunteer army.
Later, in the military history, only a few simple words were used to describe the battle that day: December 11 was a critical day. The troops retreated to the Pulkovo Heights. Retreatment meant that the battle was going to take place in the city. Before that, the White Army's attack encountered almost no resistance. On that day, the Red Army gained a foothold in the Pulkovo defense line and carried out tenacious resistance. The enemy's attack was curbed. On the 12th, the Red Army moved to a counterattack. Yudenic immediately pulled up the reserve troops and strengthened the defense line. The battle was very fierce. On the evening of the 13th, the Red Army recovered Pavlovsk. At the same time, the friendly 15th Army began to advance from the south, threatening the rear and right wing of the White Army. So the situation turned around.
The whole text is almost written in one stroke. Which "Red Army" unit has defended Pulkovo, and the "Red Army" general Yudenic pushed back, but he didn't even mention it. Instead, the Red 15th Army, who had been playing soybeans, had a chance to "show his face".
Of course, it is normal not to mention it, because the one who drove Yudenic away was not the "Red Army" at all, but the volunteer army stationed in Finland. This unit, originally called the Border Police Force, has no dime relationship with the Red Army, and does not even belong to the command of the Military Commission and the All-Russian Field Command. This is quite embarrassing to the Red Army, and the performance of the Red Seventh Army was really bad before. Whether it was to cover up shame or for political needs, it was an inevitable choice to downplay the image of the "Volunteer Army".
However, the "Volunteer Army" also won considerable honors for a certain immortal and the army itself because of its outstanding performance. After repelling Yudenic, after discussion and decision by the Central Committee, it was awarded the honorary title of "First Guard Division" of the First Division of the Volunteer Army, and a certain immortal also received the first Red Flag Medal.
What's more funny is that Yudenic was disappointed with the failure of this effort, but the bald man was also confused about which unit defeated him. Based on his own speculation and related reports from the Bolsheviks, he wrote in his memoirs for granted: "Trotsky came to the Petrograd front on December 9. His decisive style quickly wiped out the chaos of the Red Army. A few hours before Gatchina's loss, he tried his best to stop my attack, but after seeing that this was impossible, he hurriedly left the city and rushed to the imperial village, trying to build a base there to defend it."
"At that time, the large reinforcements of the Red Bandits had arrived, but Trotsky had already gathered the students of Petrograd and mobilized all men in the city. He also cruelly used machine guns to drive these hasty-organized mobs to the position... This executioner, as always, used iron-blooded means to kill the hope of the Russian people to resist the tyranny of the Bolsheviks. This fully made me understand one thing--if you want to overthrow the brutal rule of the Bolsheviks, you must be more iron-blooded and more cruel than them... The only thing that can save Russia is violence!"
When Sverdlov saw this so-called "the most realistic memory of war" that was not much better than street stall literature, he called a fairy immediately. He said in a teasing tone: "Poor Yudenic, he didn't even understand who defeated him, so he started writing memoirs... Andre, why don't you write a memoir too, tell the world the real situation of the Petrograd defense battle, and let some people continue to confuse the audience..."
