079 On the Road (Part 1)

Li Xiaofeng looked at Lin Mu who was quickly retreating outside the window and yawned boredly. He had been on this slow train for a day and a night. The leisurely and almost boring journey reminded him of the scene of guarding the communication room in the South Heaven Gate in his previous life. His nerves, which were nervous due to the revolution, suddenly relaxed and he was a little uncomfortable.

"How far is Helsinki?" he asked, yawning.

Erikson, who also felt tortured by time, replied anxiously: "We have just left Vyborg City, and there is still more than half the journey waiting for us!"

"What!" Li Xiaofeng jumped. He didn't want to waste another day or two on this slow train. He was already tired of it.

Constantine raised her head from the piles of drawings and smiled, "Andreka, you are still so frizzy and have no patience at all. You should be very happy that our train has been driving for an hour, which is a good sign!"

Li Xiaofeng sighed and sat back to his bed dejectedly. Indeed, this damn turtle train finally drove for an hour for the first time. In the previous day and night, they were forced to stop once every twenty minutes. It was not because of the mechanical problems of the train. The train was well maintained, and everything was normal except for a slight overload.

What really made the journey fragmented was social problems. Railway workers went on strike, switchmen were abandoned, and refugees flocked to stop the train. The most funny thing was that their radical drivers responded to the call of the revolution and left passengers behind in the city of Vyborg and devoted themselves to the revolutionary tide.

Even if bandits come to rob the train now, Li Xiaofeng would not be surprised. Anyway, any strange things could happen in the tide of revolution. This also made him feel that the revolution was too annoying for the first time since he broke through time.

"It seems you don't like revolution either, do you?"

Li Xiaofeng raised his head and the middle-aged man sleeping on the sleeper opposite him smiled and looked at him. For this new friend with a military temperament, Li Xiaofeng could not like him or dislike him. In fact, he had never said a few words to the other party. Apart from living in the same box, the two sides had no intersection. Moreover, the age gap is not small. Middle-aged man looks almost fifty years old, and Li Xiaofeng is less than twenty years old. The thirty-year gap is enough to create a generation gap. They almost have no common topics, but the middle-aged man came to Li Xiaofeng.

"Where do you know that I don't like revolution?" Li Xiaofeng was amused.

The middle-aged man said in a stern manner: "Although you didn't say anything, I can see that you are very anxious and seem to hate this trip very much. And you still miss your motherland very much, paying attention to every newspaper you can find."

"So what?" Li Xiaofeng didn't think the above said could draw the conclusion that he hated the revolution.

Middle-aged smiled and said slowly, "So I concluded that you were forced to flee your hometown and prepare to go into exile. Like those who fled outside, you would never like the revolution that caused all this."

Li Xiaofeng smiled, laughing very happily, and then the middle-aged man laughed too. He asked with interest: "I'm right!"

"No! It's ridiculously wrong!" Li Xiaofeng cleared his throat and said, "Although your observation is very detailed, I can't help but say that you missed something! And these will lead you to completely different conclusions!"

The middle-aged man asked in disbelief: "What am I missing?"

"Resentment!" Li Xiaofeng emphasized, pointing to Eriksen who was walking outside the box, and said, "It's not the revolution that annoyed me, but the guy outside who was more anxious than me. It was because of him that I had to take this damn train and endure the torture of boredom! If I could, I really want to turn around and return to Russia!"

The middle-aged man opened his eyes wide, as if he was judging whether someone was telling the truth or lies. To be honest, in order to pass the boring time, he had observed the young man for a long time and thought he had figured out the other party's psychology. He really couldn't believe that his analysis and judgment were all wrong. For him who was extremely confident, this was a blow.

"But from your words, I have analyzed a lot of things!" Li Xiaofeng suddenly said.

The middle-aged man became more and more curious. He had never seen such an interesting young man before. He asked, "What did you see?"

Li Xiaofeng pointed his finger and said, "First, you are a Finn..."

The middle-aged man smiled and said dismissively: "This is very simple, my Russian has a Finnish accent. People can't change their accent, right?" He shrugged and emphasized: "This is very simple..."

"Second, you are a soldier, to be more specific, you should be a cavalryman and have a high position."

The middle-aged man smiled again: "This surprised me a little. You can see it from my walking posture and military temperament?"

Li Xiaofeng didn't care at all and continued, "Third, you are the one who truly hates revolution."

The middle-aged man finally stopped smiling and asked curiously: "How did you see it?"

Li Xiaofeng said sternly: "You are a Finnish serving in the Russian army and a senior officer. What is the reason that allows you to leave your soldiers behind at critical moments of war and travel thousands of miles to your hometown? The answer is simple, there is only revolution!"

The middle-aged man curled his lips and smiled, "This only means that I care about revolution, doesn't it?"

Li Xiaofeng smiled: "You don't care about the revolution, you are afraid of the revolution! You are very worried about the impact of this revolution on Russia and Finland, and you are worried that the revolution will completely mess up the motherland and hometown you love! Will such a person like revolution?"

The middle-aged man shook his head for granted: "Of course such people won't like revolution!" After a pause, he asked meaningfully: "Sir, to be honest, I'm very curious about you. I always thought that young people like you are more interested in young and beautiful girls."

This time it was Li Xiaofeng's turn to sneer: "You are probably still old-minded. There are many young people who care about politics and are passionate about revolution nowadays..."

The middle-aged man shook his head and interrupted, "No, you are different from those guys who talk big. They only know how to follow the crowd, only know how to shout endlessly, act impulsively and recklessly, and make no achievements! Forgive me for taking the liberty, are you also a revolutionary?"

"That's right!" Li Xiaofeng didn't think there was anything worth keeping secret. "I like revolution! I'm happy to see the arrival of the revolutionary craze!"

"This is amazing!" the middle-aged man raised his voice. "I can see that you have a good family background and pay great attention to the interests of life. How could a person like you be a revolutionary? Don't you know what they want to do?"

Li Xiaofeng laughed and said, "I know very well what they want to do!"

The middle-aged man frowned and asked, "How could you agree with this absurd so-called revolutionary act, this is a trampling on order and a destruction action in the pure sense!"

"Isn't it good to destroy?" Li Xiaofeng asked back.

The middle-aged man screamed: "How can destruction be good! I love my hometown and fellow countrymen, I will never allow it..."

Li Xiaofeng suddenly stretched out his hand, stopped the middle-aged man from making generous speeches, and said calmly: "I thought you were a person who truly loves Finland, but it seems you are not!"

"This is simply ridiculous..."

Before the middle-aged man finished speaking, Li Xiaofeng stopped him again: "A patriot who truly loves Finland must be happy to see the collapse of Tsarist Russia... The collapse of an empire often means the birth of many new countries! Don't you want to see a New Finland that completely breaks away from Russian rule and wins a complete independence?"

The middle-aged man was speechless. Of course, he understood how important independence is to Finland. Finland has never been a powerful country. They were ruled by the Swedes in their long history, and then the rule was handed over to the Tsar in 1809. Independence and freedom were completely a luxury for the weak Finland. But the young man in front of him said that the disgusting violent bloody revolution could bring Finland's autonomy that he had never had before. Although he wanted to say this was a joke, judging from the recent news, Russia's rule over Finland has been greatly weakened. This seems to indicate some kind of hope?

"You saw it too, right?" Li Xiaofeng continued to talk, "The Tsar's empire has collapsed, and the land that was once conquered by this behemoth unexpectedly gained unattainable autonomy. I think soon, including Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland may all gain independence... It is the destructive revolution that has done the great cause you have not achieved in hundreds of years. What reason do you have to hate the revolution?"

The middle-aged man looked at Li Xiaofeng in amazement and murmured: "Is it really possible?" But he immediately woke up: "Even so, this revolution may bring about fierce confrontation and cause great bloodshed and sacrifice!"

Li Xiaofeng sneered: "Do you think people can get something for nothing?"

The middle-aged man fell into deep thought again, and after a long time he said, "Although I am reluctant to admit that you have made sense, this is the truth!"

Li Xiaofeng smiled happily: "So, do you start to like revolution like me?"

The middle-aged man shook his head and said heavily: "Although I long for the independence of the nation and the country, my fearless vendetta and bloodshed made me unacceptable. I can only say that you are cruel, and as you said, since a revolution will split Russia apart, why do you welcome him? Is this good for Russia? Don't you love your motherland?"

Why do I love Russia? Li Xiaofeng was very disdainful. The Russians brought to the Chinese people not good memories, let alone facing Tsarist Russia. For a certain immortal, the only thing that was meaningful to him was that a new Bolshevik Russia could bring him greater benefits, while the old Tsarist Russia could not! This is the only reason why he loved the revolution.
