307 First Battle

When Koremiaka's company was fighting with the White Army in Milerovo, the main force of the First Machine Gun Regiment was still in Boguccal, a hundred kilometers away. It was not that the regiment was slow, but according to the central government's idea, Fulongzhi's troops should build a defense line along the Don River, while the First Machine Gun Regiment should arrive at the Boguccal line to build a position and act as the vanguard of the main force.

The new regiment commander Buluheer implemented the combat plan of Fu Longzhi and the Central Committee without fail, and sent a small number of reconnaissance troops to Milerovo. After all, with the strength of the White Army, if he really wanted to go north, he could completely crush Milerovo, which was flat. Not to mention a regiment, even a division could not stand it.

On the Boguchar front line, with the Don River backed by the Don River, it is easier to carry out defensive operations. Buluhell himself was more willing to block the White Army in Boguchar, so after receiving the information that Milerovo was attacked by the White Army, the first thing he thought of was to give up Milerovo.

In his opinion, since the central government decided to defend the Don River, Mirerovo had no particularly important military and political significance. Instead, he might pay a heavy price to defend the Don River, which is really unprofitable. At this stage, the more pragmatic approach is to build defense lines in Slaveyansk, North Donetsk and along the Don River, firmly blocking the White Army south of the Don River and west of the Volga River. After the main forces arrived at the Ukrainian battlefield, they were in a decisive battle.

Fulongzhi attached great importance to Buluhel's opinions, and the veteran's opinions are indeed worthy of them. But the only regret is that the defense lines of Slaveyansk and North Donetsk are easy to talk about, and there is no big problem with the defense lines along the Don River, that is, the direction of Chalizin to the east is very problematic.

A large number of White guerrillas were active near Chalijin and along the Volga River, which involved the attention of the local garrisons, which was originally small. If the White Army in the direction of Luhansk chose to advance eastward, a big hole would be opened here. Then there would be Urals and Siberia. It was empty, allowing the White Army to rush over to be like letting the tiger return to the mountain.

Moreover, according to the previous strategic guidance of the central government, the ideal state is to annihilate the White Army south of the Don River and west of the Volga River, and it is best not to allow a White Army to cross the Volga River.

To achieve such a strategic concept, you must put enough pressure on the White Army's route to escape east. Although Milerovo is inconspicuous, its position is just stuck at the nodes of the northward and eastward flight. If you lose it, you cannot effectively put pressure on the direction of Lugansk, and you can let the enemy perform calmly.

Therefore, when Buluheer called him to ask him whether he could give up Milerovo, Fu Longzhi flatly refused. The current situation not only cannot give up Milerovo. He also had to fight a beautiful blocking battle here, and he must strangle this node!

Although Buluheer regrets this result, as a soldier, he must first obey the orders of his superiors. He cannot only think about his own troops being comfortable, but also consider the overall situation.

Judging from the situation in the entire southern Ukraine, although Milerovo was small and difficult to organize defense, his existence was just a nail. If Milerovo was defended, the Red Army could continue to threaten the traffic route from Lugansk to Chalizin, and block the White Army's route of fleeing east.

"Emergency gathering!" Buluheer issued an order, "Let the first battalion leave first with light equipment. Be sure to arrive at Milerovo before dusk and tell the comrades stationed in Milerovo that they must persevere until dark!"

How is Mirerovo's situation now? It should be said that it is not bad. With the streets and houses, they repelled the White Army's three attacks and annihilated hundreds of White Bandits. Political Commissar Spannovic was very satisfied with the performance of his young man. He recorded in the battle log:

"In this battle, I knew the real value of these young men. When the enemy was shelling, they kept their positions strictly, and none of them showed fear and panic. They often squatted for half an hour, or even an hour... They had to guard against the broken branches and broken bricks falling from the blown-up houses. Every soldier showed no complaints. When the White Bandits began to attack, they bravely fought against the enemy with weapons, holding every inch of the position and every house... Although I could not see their expressions, the fighting spirit they showed deeply moved me... Without any orders, some soldiers ran to the injured comrades to rescue or take over them to continue fighting..."

To be honest, although the Red Army soldiers were brave and morale, their condition became worse and worse as the battle deepened. Keremiaka remembered it very clearly: "The enemy's shelling became more and more fierce. From the beginning, the shells fell down almost every second later. The enemy concentrated firepower to bombard our defense line, and the shells exploded in front of the yard we were stationed in. The whole house shook violently because of the explosion.

During the interval, I could hear gunfire and the shouts of the enemy... The smoke and dust generated after the explosion were everywhere. The company commander hid in the basement with his comrades, leaving only the observation post to pay attention to the enemy's movements... A row of messengers ran in. From him, we learned that a row of platoons had a fierce hand-to-hand combat with the enemy, but the enemy with the dominant number still broke through the defense line. The first row commander asked the company commander to support them immediately, otherwise the enemy would divide and surround us..."

The company commander wiped the bayonet. During the previous counter-charge, his bayonet drank enough blood. Whenever this happened, he would wipe the bayonet again, and the corners of his mouth cracked, showing a strange smile, and then he stood up with his gun firmly, "Cooking, come with me!"

Later, the first machine gun team battle history wrote: The battle became more and more intense, and the enemy's shelling hit the fragile houses like an iron fist. Many houses were blown up to crack the beams, and turned around and flew around... The earth was trembling violently. Although we fought for nearly 5 hours, we bravely blocked most of the enemies outside the city, and we will persist in fighting to the end... More and more enemies were, like a group of hungry wolves surrounding us... Soon the defense line appeared. The enemy launched a "bobo" attack with a ten-fold advantage of the number of people. A row of casualties was exhausted, and the defense line was in danger! At the most difficult moment of the battle, the company commander Comrade Xie Miaonov took the comrades from the kitchen team bravely and drove the enemy out of Mirerovo again with grenades and bayonets!

"asshole!"

Krasnov dropped his telescope. He just had just a little bit of it to break through the Red Army's defense line, but he still failed. The attacking troops escaped like a group of panicked rabbits.

This is not the first time. Five consecutive attacks were attacked. Krasnov didn't understand where the Red Army that Luhansk encountered was about to collapse? Could it be that the Red Army here was not afraid of death?

The current situation is beyond explanation. There are definitely not many Red Army soldiers in the city, but he can't fight in any way. After a few hours of fierce battles, apart from wasting a large number of shells and being harvested more than 200 lives, he didn't even take back a piece of Mirerovo's brick. Tsk, I'm paying a lot!

The staff advised: "Do you want to take a break and fight again in the afternoon?"

Krasnov's face was unstable and he was silent for a moment. He snorted coldly: "No! Continue to attack! Let the supervisory team be prepared, only to move forward but not retreat, and the escapees will be killed without mercy!"

It has to be said that Krasnov's decision was correct. After Koremiaka's troops repelled their last attack, they were almost at the end of their lives. If the White Army gave up on continuing the attack, they would have a precious chance to breathe. And now, they were like a rubber band stretched to the extreme, and as long as they applied a little force, they would break!

More than ten minutes later, the blood-covered company commander Xie Miaonov had to call his superior again: "Our defense line has been broken, and more than half of the soldiers have been sacrificed or injured. We can only rely on a few nodes in the city to fight against the enemy... We need reinforcements, and we will soon..."

Before he could finish his words, the communication was interrupted. The White Army's shelling destroyed the telephone line. Buluhell had to order the first battalion again, ordering them to speed up and reinforce Milerovo at all costs.

As Mirerovo's outer defense was broken through, the battle developed towards the most cruel and arduous street fighting. Relying on the company as the core, Koremiaka's company adhered to the buildings adjacent to the streets to deal with the White Army. Every second, people were shot and people died. Repeated competitions were held around the streets and houses.

Half a century later, Kagannov, the platoon leader of the White Army Chariot Company, who participated in the battle, was still scared when recalling this bloody battle: "The superiors did not intend to invest in the Chariot Company at the beginning. As a rare armored force in the entire army, all of our armored vehicles were treasures, all imported goods... To use it, we must get Krasnov's permission... When the battle was going on until three o'clock in the afternoon, we were exhausted by the enemy's tactics and urgently needed to open up the situation. Krasnov felt that it was time to use the armored vehicles..."

"At that time, we drove an armored car made by Renault, and looked at the situation on the street from the narrow observation crack. The smoke was filled with gunpowders and ruins everywhere. Of course, there were more corpses... There were all kinds of corpses, missing arms and legs, moving their heads, curled up in a ball. What shocked me the most was the two burnt corpses that were hugging each other. It was hard for me to imagine how they died, and I dare not think about it..."

"We moved forward as slowly as possible. Every minute and every second, the Red Army fired at us. The bullets hit the car body and made a clanging sound. The machine gunner Nicholas was quickly hit. He was hit by the bullets shot in the observation hole. He died without any sound. The smell of blood filled the car. None of us knew who the next one would die!"

"We are lucky. Apart from the unlucky Nikola, the shooting of the Red Army could not cause us much trouble. At that time, I was optimistic that I could crush all the way and end the battle! But I was too low on the cruelty of the war and even underestimated the creativity of the soldiers on the battlefield. The Red Army quickly changed its strategy and did not vainly shoot the armored steel plates of the combat vehicles, but aimed at the weak tires... Soon our armored vehicles broke down and were crossed in vain in the middle of the road. We looked at each other, wondering how to deal with this state - should we get out of the car and escape? Or should we wait for the infantry brothers behind to rescue us?"

"The stalemate did not last long. Soon we heard the infantry brothers outside the car shouting at us: 'Jump quickly!'. We didn't understand why we wanted to jump. At least in our opinion, the inside of the car is much safer than the empty streets outside. At least the Red Army can do nothing to us for the time being!"

"To be honest, that was one of the stupidest decisions I have ever made in my life. If we were outside the car, we wouldn't take it for granted... At that time, our fuel tank leaked, and the volatile gasoline could be ignited at any time. In fact, it was quickly ignited by the Red Army with incendiary bombs. Only Constantine and I escaped from the coffin before the explosion. Two other people, including the driver and the commander, turned into fireballs with the armored vehicles... Even though we were thirty meters away, we could still smell the smell of barbecue, but it not only could not arouse our appetite, but instead kept me away from this once delicious food for the rest of my life..."

When the White Army's chariot assault was also declared defeat, Krasnov was helpless. His troops had been attacking for a whole day, and the supervision team shot hundreds of people. Even the treasure-dash armored vehicles were used. But this little Mirerovo refused to surrender, and even the resistance became more and more intense.

Now, Krasnov must think carefully about whether to continue attacking or to withdraw his troops. To be honest, he was a little confused. Keep on attacking, I don’t know how many troops I have to invest and how many troops I have to lose. The current loss is enough for him to hurt. But if he doesn’t continue attacking, the daytime efforts will be wasted and he may be ridiculed by the Czechs.

After looking at Mirerovo, Krasnov was speechless for a long time. After a long time, he said: "Stay for an hour and consolidate the position first."

Krasnov will regret this decision for the rest of his life. As mentioned earlier, Koremiaka and his comrades have reached the limit. The battle behind can be said to be overdrawing their lives. As the battle progressed, the company commander Semenov was sacrificed, leaving only a dozen people in the entire company, and 80% of them insisted on fighting with injuries.

Their positions or bases have been compressed into a narrow range and there is no room for movement. What's more serious is that the ammunition is about to be consumed. Even the bayonets are bent. It can be said that they only have the last breath. As long as Krasnov is a little bolder and more determined, Mirerovo is his possession.

And it was at this most critical and difficult time that Krasnov hesitated and retreated, giving the first battalion that came to reinforce enough time. When the first battalion arrived at Mirerovo at dusk, it indicates that the battle here will develop in a direction of cruelty and tug-of-war.

Let us breathe a sigh of relief for a moment, and give the Red and White Army fighting in Milerovo a chance to breathe. This sudden outbreak of battle has attracted the attention of the Bolshevik Politburo sitting in the Smolny Palace thousands of miles away.

"Does the battle that took place in Milerovo indicate that the White Bandits have clarified their strategic intentions and whether it indicates that they have reached an agreement within them? This issue is crucial!" asked the instructor with a serious expression.

Indeed, after taking down Lugansk, the White Army did not show a clear strategic intention at one time. They flew around like flies, constantly making tests in several directions. Now the Politburo wants to know whether the fly has completed the test work and whether it has found its way. This question will determine their next countermeasures and the direction of the entire Ukrainian battlefield.

The tutor asked the most core question: "Is this a new tentative action of the White Bandits Army?"

Trotsky took a look at the telegram sent by Fu Longzhi, which was about the specific situation of the Milerovo battle. I have to say that if all the above were true, it would be a bit shocking.

"According to Comrade Fu Longzhi's telegram, I don't think this is like an enemy's temptation." Trotsky said calmly and vigorously. "The enemy invested a regiment of troops at one time, and also used artillery and combat vehicles. This situation was completely gone before... I think this shows the enemy's attention to Milerovo and their determination to fight!"

Although Trotsky did not say what the White Army's determination to fight was, everyone here could hear that Lao Tuo meant that the White Army was probably preparing to flee east.

Sverdlov frowned and asked, "Is this judgment a little hasty? After all, Milerovo's battle is not large. What if it was the enemy's trick?"

Trotsky asked, "What trick?"

Xiao Si really couldn't answer, because according to Fulongzhi's combat plan, the main Red Army forces would assemble Mirerovo and go straight to Lugansk to fight a decisive battle. If the White Army wants to distract the Red Army, it should avoid Mirerovo's direction and make a fuss. It is possible to feint attacking North Donetsk or Slaviyansk and shift the Red Army's attention to the direction of Kharkov.

Xiao Si thought for a while and said, "The White Army may also be preparing to go north, so he attacked Milerovo. Judging from the forces they put into battle on the first day of the battle, this possibility also exists."

Trotsky knew that this possibility was not without it. Who made Mirerovo go north and east? The White Army had too much room for play, so it was really hard to speculate.

However, Lao Tuo also had a bit of creative thinking. He felt that no matter what the White Army was going to do, no matter whether it was going north or flee east, Milerovo could not overcome it. Since that is the case, if we suppress our troops to defend this node, they would suffer setbacks whether they flee east or flee north!
