234 Each has a ghost (Part 1)

The most important reason for the difficulties in the Eastern battlefield is not the disparity between the enemy and our strength and the difficult conditions. The most important reason is that China is inconsistent. Since 1939, the Democratic Party has begun to passively resist Japan. Not only did Wang Jingwei and others treason for the enemy, but other factions have reached secret transactions with the Japanese army to preserve their strength, and it is even more common for Chairman Chiang to shout the slogan of saving the country on a curve, allowing a large number of surrendered Japanese troops to act as puppet troops to actively.

For example, in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia area, the 800-year-old*, such as Hu Zongnan's 34th Army, was a so-called so-called existence. Yan Xishan's Jin army directly reached a secret deal with the Japanese Antong Qu. Anyway, during the stalemate of the War of Resistance, * was a group of onlookers and soy sauce parties. Unless the Japanese took the initiative to cause trouble for them, they would never take the initiative to fight. Even in 1944, seeing victory in sight, *'s negativity reached its peak, and he was a group of scum.

What's even more annoying is that a considerable number of generals, whether they are local forces or students of the Central Army, were not ashamed of the shameless behavior. They were as cowardly as Fan Paopao in foreign battles, but when bullying their own people, these guys became experts one by one.

For example, Hu Zongnan's 34th Army, as mentioned earlier, Hu Zongnan's true intention to manage his army in war was just that. Neither the 34th Army nor the first army of his direct line had any record that could be achieved during the War of Resistance (the same was true in the Civil War).

However, Hu Zongnan was not good at fighting, but he was a good at trying to please Chiang Kai-shek and was extremely arrogant. In January 1940, when Chiang Kai-shek launched his first victory, the emperor's disciple was the first to lead his army to attack Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia, and captured five counties in one fell swoop. He shouted arrogantly: "Destroy the border area", and then built a tight blockade line of more than 700 miles long around the Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia border area.

Not to mention after that, in the remaining five years, the Northwest King was basically unwilling to resist Japan and was determined to surround and block Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia. In Hu Zongnan's eyes, the Turkish Communist Party was just like that. If it were not for the interference of international and domestic public opinion, it would be easier for him to eliminate Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia to take advantage of the situation.

After receiving the order from Chiang Kai-shek to cut off the Soviet Union's aid to the Communist Party of China, Hu Zongnan immediately assembled all five armies under the 34th Army and began to move northward. During this period, Ma Hongkui, among the three horses in the northwest, also received Chiang Kai-shek's order to cooperate with Hu Zongnan in combat with his direct 11th Army. The battle later called the battle to defend the northern transportation line officially began.

At the beginning of the battle, Hu Zongnan's military deployment was like this. Kong Lingxun's 80th Army served as the vanguard, Dong Zhao's 16th Army was in the back to support him, followed by Li Tiejun's 76th Army and Zhao Xiguang's 36th Army, and the first army with the strongest combat effectiveness fell at the end.

It has to be said that this is a typical way of troop allocation of troops by the generals of the Kuomintang Central Army. Why? From the perspective of a national chess game, it is not a match for the Democratic Party and the Territory Communist Party, but from the perspective of the Democratic Party, there are many contradictions between the Central Army and the local army.

All over the country, Chiang Kai-shek was attacking the Communist Party of China. And within the Democratic Party, Chiang Kai-shek would never be polite to those local forces. For example, according to Hu Zongnan's deployment, Kong Ling-hsiung's 80th Army, who was fighting for the vanguard, belonged to local forces.

The 80th Army was based on the headquarters of Li Jicai, the Second Army of the National Revolutionary Army. After the Central Plains War, Li Jicai's troops were adapted into the newly formed 13th Division by Chiang Kai-shek, and then changed to the 79th Division in 1931. When the Kuomintang was reorganized in 1937, it was adapted into the 80th Army.

Anyway, since 1937, the 80th Army has been reorganized several times, and its troops have also been transferred. In May 1941, the army was transferred out of the 34th Army to participate in the Battle of Southern Shanxi. The defeats were severe and even the old commander Kong Lingxun was replaced.

As for the 16th Army, which followed closely behind, it belonged to the original Hunan Army system, formerly the 53rd Division of the Hunan Army. During the Central Plains War, in order to enhance its strength, Chiang Kai-shek expanded the 53rd Division into the 16th Army. He then participated in the second, fourth and fifth "encirclement and suppression". After the Lugou Bridge Incident, he participated in the Battle of Songhu, and suffered heavy losses.

Later, the 16th Army was rebuilt with the remnants of the army, but the commander was replaced by Dong Zhao, the commander of the 28th Division of the 46th Army, the direct line of the Central Army. In order to control the 16th Army, Chiang Kai-shek spent a lot of money and changed Dong Zhao's 28th Division to the 16th Army, and allowed Dong Zhao to continue to serve as the commander of the 28th Division. After the defeat of the Wuhan Battle in 1939, the army was transferred to Shaanxi to besiege Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia.

Objectively speaking, the 16th Army already belongs to half of the Central Army. The reason why Hu Zongnan placed the 16th Army behind the 80th Army was to ask Dong Zhao to monitor Kong Lingxun and force the 80th Army to take the lead as cannon fodder.

Kong Lingxun naturally knew what Hu Zongnan was planning, but there was no way. Who made the 80th Army unable to twist its arms? In fact, this is not the first time the 80th Army was cut. Since 1939, the organization of the 80th Army has been constantly changing. First, the 165th Division was transferred in, and then the 191st Division and the 26th Division were transferred in again. However, before the two divisions were hot, they changed again. First, the 191st Division was expanded into the 42nd Army, and then in the spring of 1940, the 26th Division of the new organization was transferred again, and the 165th Division and the 27th Division of the new organization were transferred into the army. In the autumn of 1940, the 97th Division, the last old unit of the 80th Army, was transferred away. In other words, what was left to Kong Lingxun were two completely unfamiliar units, the 165th Division and the 27th Division of the new organization were transferred.

At this time, Kong Lingxun not only reduced his strength in the army (three divisions became two divisions), but neither of the new two divisions were his own. Whether he would listen to commands or not when he went to the battlefield in the future was another matter. Moreover, the uneasy Hu Zongnan also let him, the weakest and most complex army, attack the vanguard. Isn’t this obviously going to use the sword of the Turkish Communist Party to chop his head?

Before going to the expedition, Kong Lingxun was very depressed. His army commander had been basically undermined. Will he only have mermaid meat in the future? Moreover, Kong Lingxun was different from the arrogant Hu Zongnan for the goal of this expedition. He didn't think it would be so easy. The territorial Communist Party was easy to deal with? Look at the trajectory since 1937, it was stronger and stronger. In 1940, it could launch a Hundred Regiments War. Compared with the situation when he just arrived in northern Shaanxi, it was simply in heaven and earth.

Can such an army that can only fight but not be afraid of war? What's more, what Hu Zongnan did to cut off the business of people and wealth, and cut off the Soviet Union's aid channels. Then the Turkish Communist Party is not fighting hard?

The desperate territorial communist is terrible! Kong Lingxun really doesn't want to participate in this bad thing. But Hu Zongnan just asked him to play the striker. Isn't this killing someone with a knife?

In fact, Kong Lingxun was still too optimistic about the future. Because he never expected that this time it was not the Eighth Route Army of the Turkish Route Army, but the serious Soviet Red Army. In Ulaanbaatar, Konev's 53rd Army was carrying out intense dress-up work, and of course it was not about changing weapons before the war, but about changing military uniforms.

The 53rd Army will replace the Red Army's uniforms and all other logos related to the Red Army, wear Outer Mongolia's uniforms and join the battle. This is also the Politburo's method to alleviate the pressure on international public opinion. After all, the Red Army is too sensitive to directly interfering in China's internal affairs and cannot capture this handle for the enemy.

While the 53rd Army was nervously changing clothes, Konev was not idle and sent out the 5th Army of the Outer Mongolian cavalry that he was assigned to him. He knew very well how important the initiative was on the battlefield. If he waited until the enemy was in place before fighting, it would be too passive and not his style.

According to Konev's order, the two cavalry divisions of the 5th cavalry army of the Outer Mongolian Cavalry Army quickly moved to the northern part of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia, went forward to occupy Guyang, Baotou, and built defense lines. Later battles proved that this was indeed a good move. The Outer Mongolian Cavalry units that came forward blocked the siege of the Democratic Party army and bought time for the subsequent main forces to arrive on the battlefield.

Of course, Hu Zongnan did not know what his opponent was doing. The vanguard of the three armies marched on the Hetao Plain without any haste, supervising or escorting the 80th Army slowly advanced northward. The 1st Army and the 76th Army, the main force of the army, were almost both left on the front line in southern Shaanxi without any movement. It seems that Hu Zongnan believed that the three armies would make a profit by holding hands to perform this mission.

It was not until January 25 that he ordered the 76th Army to start moving north, while the First Army continued to stay in Xi'an. It seemed that Hu Zongnan was preparing to have a good New Year with his direct descendants.

At this time, the 13th and 15th Divisions of the Outer Mongolian Cavalry, who were advancing wildly, had arrived at the periphery of Guyang. After a brief rest, they began to attack the city. Soon the puppet troops stationed in Guyang were defeated, and the Outer Mongolian Cavalry easily occupied Guyang.

This news did not attract the attention of the DPP. After all, Guyang was not their territory. At this time, Kong Lingxun and the 80th Army vanguard had just arrived in Wuhai. A sudden sandstorm caused the DPP army to suffer a lot and had to stop moving forward temporarily.

According to Kong Lingxun's idea, he should take the opportunity to rest in Wuhai, so he sent a telegram to Hu Zongnan, complaining that it meant to stop and rest. But how could Hu Zongnan allow Kong Lingxun to stop and rest? This time, Kong Lingxun was asked to hit the forward as the last time he beat the miscellaneous commander. Once he performed poorly, there would be an excuse to dismiss him immediately. As for what if he performed well?

Hehe, the 80th Army is good at competing with each other, and good performance must have caused death to the same 80th Army. With the current combat effectiveness of the 80th Army, I am afraid that even if it wins, it will be a terrible victory. At that time, the 80th Army will still be over.

Anyway, Hu Zongnan's plan was pretty good. Not only did he disagree with Kong Lingxian and stopped and rested, but he ordered him to accelerate his progress, and even loudly scolded him for "military opportunity" and threatened to "engage in military law."

At the same time, Hu Zongnan sent another telegram to Dong Zhao: "Jiesheng's brother (Dong Zhao's name) is a major plan for the party and state. I hope you can advance quickly and arrive at the designated area with Zhengzhai (Kong Lingxian) troops as soon as possible..."

Dong Zhao and Hu Zongnan are actually average. Although both of them are from Huangpu First Division, Hu Zongnan is from Zhejiang and is the flesh of Chiang Kai-shek. Dong Zhao is from Shaanxi and is not among the core confidants of Chiang Kai-shek. After arriving in Shaanxi, Dong Zhao and Hu Zongnan had a bad time around power. Hu Zongnan always had to suppress Dong Zhao. This time, Dong Zhao followed Kong Lingxun, which was actually deliberately beating.

Dong Zhao was also unhappy at this time. He thought that he was not bad at all compared to Hu Zongnan. Apart from cursing the principal, the ability to fight was just that. Dong Zhao was very brave in the Battle of Shanghai, Taierzhuang, Wuhan, Luoshan, and Xinyang. How could he be worse than Hu Zongnan?

Moreover, after arriving in Shaanxi, Hu Zongnan relied on Chiang Kai-shek's favor and squeezed away his dissidents, squeezing away his senior Jiang Dingwen (this is not a good bird, a famous corrupt general) and suppressed him more than once. You said he could be happy.

Especially this time, the order from the superiors was clearly that all the members of the 34th Army were dispatched to completely seal the foreign aid channel of the Governorth Communist Party. But Hu Zongnan was so good that his 16th Army had to eat sand in the cold weather against the northwest wind. However, his direct first army was very popular and had a spicy meal in Xi'an. What is this?

Therefore, when Dong Zhao looked at Hu Zongnan's urging telegram, he threw it aside, and directly replied to a telegram with bad weather and marched difficulties, and ordered the troops to rest on the spot. According to Dong Zhao's statement, "I am not Kong Lingxun, nor the 16th Army, nor the 80th Army, so I won't be a stupid camel!"

The 16th Army, which was not a fool, rested on the spot. However, Dong Zhao did not tell Kong Lingxun about this situation, and Hu Zongnan naturally would not notify him (once Kong Lingxun learned that Dong Zhao had rested, he would definitely not continue to move forward).

In other words, starting from the end of January, the 80th Army, which was fighting the vanguard, and the 16th Army, who was supporting, were disconnected. Kong Linghen's troops continued to advance along the Yellow River and arrived in Wuyuan on February 8.

At this time, the 16th Army, which "cooperated" with the war, slowly walked to Linhe under the repeated orders of Hu Zongnan. The distance between the 80th Army was more than 80 kilometers. As mentioned earlier, the combat effectiveness of the 80th Army was extremely limited. The entire army had only two infantry divisions, and they were not satisfied with the organization. Moreover, Kong Lingxun was not able to command the commander of the 165th Division and Wang Jun, the commander of the newly formed 27th Division.

So after arriving at Wuyuan, Kong Lingxun was not very nervous. He repeatedly telegrammed Hu Zongnan, demanding to stop moving forward and wait for Dong Zhao to follow him before moving forward. However, Hu Zongnan flatly refused his request. In Hu Zongnan's opinion, it would be best if Dong Zhao didn't follow him, so he just let the 80th Army fight against the Turkish Communist Party alone first and kill people with a knife.

Moreover, this is an extraordinary killing of people by borrowing a knife. In fact, it was a kill of three birds with one stone, weakening the 80th Army. There were naturally casualties on the Turkish Communist side. The most interesting thing is that Dong Zhao can be held accountable afterwards and the guy was charged with poor support. Maybe he can squeeze this bastard out of Shaanxi!

When Hu Zongnan thought of this, he couldn't help but be excited. He squeezed away Jiang Dingwen and then Dong Zhao, and then he would be the veritable King of Northwest. So in the next few days, Hu Zongnan ignored Dong Zhao's delay and waited to reap the benefits of the fisherman.

After looking at Konev's side, he ordered the cavalry troops to continue to advance quickly and go straight to Baotou. Because Baotou was so important, it was only after occupying Baotou that he could cross the Yellow River and ensure that the Soviet Union's military resources through Outer Mongolia were continuously sent to Yan'an. In Konev's plan, Baotou had a particularly important position, so he left only a few troops in Guyang, and the main forces of the two cavalry divisions went to Baotou.

It is not difficult to recover Baotou. The combat effectiveness of the local Japanese and puppet troops was too poor, and the Turkish Communist Party provided a lot of detailed information. It can be said that there were many defenders in Baotou and how many guns were pierced or not. For the Japanese and puppet troops, the arrival of the Red Army was completely unexpected. They were not prepared and soon collapsed in a swarm.

After occupying Baotou, Konev did not rush to develop south, but ordered his troops to build fortifications on site to build defense lines. Konev knew very well that Baotou was too important. No matter the Democratic Party troops coming from the west or the Japanese and puppet troops coming from the east, they would not watch this important city fall into his hands.

But what surprised Konev was that the first thing he came to Baotou was not the expected Kuomintang army, but the Japanese and puppet troops from the east. At that time, he wrote in his diary: "The slowness of the shackles of the Democratic Party army was simply incredible. I have always been told that from Mr. Jiang to Hu Zongnan, they all attached great importance to this operation and used the most elite troops for this. But why didn't they understand the reason why soldiers were more powerful? The military generals of the Democratic Party were not so bad, right?"

The officers of the Democratic Party were not that they did not understand the principle that soldiers were more powerful than speed, but that they could not do it. Look at the fact that the elite 34th Army was very serious internal infighting. They had to not only guard against the enemy but also guard against their own people when they sent troops to fight. This would be a big deal.

For example, Kong Linghen's troops, under Hu Zongnan's order, left Wuyuan reluctantly, but did not go far. The main force stopped east of Wuliangsuhai, and then sent a small group of reconnaissance troops to advance towards Baotou and Guyang.

Kong Lingxun was indeed very careful. According to the information of the Democratic Party, further forward was the Japanese territory. He knew very well what the result of a hasty exchange of fire with the Japanese army. Of course, more importantly, he had to be careful of the territorial communist south of the Yellow River. What if the territorial communist had crossed the Yellow River unexpectedly and was waiting for him?

Kong Lingxun refused to take risks. He could have been caught in time under the banner of battlefield reconnaissance. Wouldn't it be safer to wait for the 16th Army to get closer?

However, Kong Lingxun had no idea that Dong Zhao's 16th Army did not move in Linhe. Not only was it because of the bad weather and Hu Zongnan's intentional indulgence, Dong Zhao actually had a small plan, that is, to preserve his strength.

The current military configuration is very clear. Once the 80th Army exchanges fire with the Turkish Communist Party, he will not be able to continue to sit idly by. Even if he pretends to behave, he must move closer to the 80th Army. But Dong Zhao is very clear that the 16th Army is the capital for his life and cannot be easily damaged. Why does his 16th Army have to accompany the miscellaneous cards to play forward? It doesn't make sense!

Dong Zhao stopped in Linhe and was actually waiting for the 36th Army behind. As long as the 36th Army followed, he could rest assured. However, what Dong Zhao didn't expect was that he was resting on his side, but Kong Lingxun fell into the fire pit! (To be continued)
