153 Barbarossa (3)

Rokosovsky looked at the combat map with a worried look on his face. For three days, according to the command of the Front Command, his Ninth Mechanized Army and the Eighth Mechanized Army jointly launched a counterattack, easily defeating the German troops in the front and advancing towards Warsaw along the Povavey, Denbring and Galwasson railway lines. Among them, the 20th Tank Division, the main force of the army, has arrived in Galwasson, and Warsaw is already close.

It will take at most one day, and Rokosovsky will be able to attack the city of Warsaw. This is the Red Army's arrival in Warsaw again since 1920. According to the combat plan, the Ukrainian Front will cut off the retreat route of the German Central Army Group in one fell swoop, and cooperate with the Belarusian Front and some Baltic Fronts to annihilate the enemy Central Army Group.

But the closer we are to Warsaw, the more uneasiness in Rokosovsky's heart became. He could feel that the danger ahead was very dangerous, and continued to move forward, as if there was danger of the entire army being killed.

Why did Rokosovsky feel this way? It's very simple. The Red Army troops that were investing in the counterattack were too long. Several mechanized armies ran fast and inserted into the enemy's depth in one breath. However, the infantry army, which cooperated with the mechanized army, fell far behind. According to his understanding, the main force of the front army had just crossed the border, and the forward only arrived at the periphery of Lublin. Such a large gap, once it was used by the German army, the consequences would be unimaginable!

Rokosovsky was not only worried about the front line, but also worried about the situation in southern Ukraine. Fang - Chang - Feng - ◇ Wen - ◇ Xue, ◎∷.n∷et face army followed the instructions of the Military Commission, leaving only a few troops to restrain the Romanian and Hungarian troops that broke in, and all the main forces were put into counterattack. This was simply the head-on and the body was light. Once the restraining force was a mistake, the entire front would fall into the dilemma of being surrounded!

Rokosovsky really couldn't understand why the Military Commission had to make such a counterattack plan. Even in his opinion, it was not appropriate to choose to counterattack at this time. According to his understanding on the battlefield, the main force of the German army was not at the end of the strong. Although its assault spearhead was hit by a certain blow, it did not hurt the bones. The combat sequence of its troops was maintained quite complete, and its fighting spirit and combat power were also quite strong. At this time, counterattack was equivalent to meeting in a narrow road, which was equivalent to head-on collision. It would be fine if the Red Army could defeat the opponent in one go. If it could not be done, with the quality of the Red Army, it would probably be defeated after the three axes were cut.

What's even more terrifying is that Rokosovsky felt that the Red Army's three axes were almost exhausted. In this round of assault, his armored troops were stubbornly resisted by the German army, and almost every step forward had to pay a heavy price. Yesterday alone, fifty tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed, and the destroyed tanks were basically the best T34 and T35, which were the core of the army's assault forces. After this period of high-intensity consumption, the t34 and T35 of his two tank divisions and one mechanized division had dropped to a level worthy of vigilance. If you continue to attack like this, by the time you hit Warsaw, you may have lost all the advanced tanks and armored vehicles!

And at that time, it means that his troops have become the end of the mast and oars. Facing the big city of Warsaw, there is probably no way out.

"Catch me the Army Command!" Rokosovsky felt that the current situation was very dangerous and it was necessary to warn the Army. "Comrade Mostovenko, the situation here is very serious. The losses and consumption of the armored troops are very amazing. It is very likely that after arriving at the outskirts of Warsaw, the troops will lose most of their combat effectiveness..."

Rokosovsky talked endlessly about his concerns, but Lieutenant General Mostovenko was not very concerned about it. The army commander was quite satisfied with the results of the rapid assault of the troops, and the front also asked him to continue to advance boldly and resolutely, and to use the sharpest breakthrough to crush all the enemy's resistance until he attacked Berlin.

Now, Rokosovsky has just begun to complain. Didn’t he just consume part of the mechanized troops? Without T34 and T35, wouldn’t he fight? Mostovenko felt that Rokosovsky was too petty. According to his understanding, the mechanized troops of the Red Army had comprehensive advantages when facing German peers. Not only t54, t34 can crush the opponent, but even T35 has great advantages when facing German tanks One and Two. Besides, there are many BT7 and BT5. In this case, are there any need to worry? I’m afraid the German guys really need to worry!

Not to mention, the Germans are indeed worried. For example, Guderian, the armored monster wrote in the memorandum: "Russian tanks have overwhelming advantages. I originally thought that the deep-improved model of BT5 that appeared in the Spanish Civil War was the best tank in Russia. However, from the actual situation on the battlefield, Russia's armor technology has made significant progress. The emerging t34 and t35 are epoch-making designs, and its comprehensive performance is the world's first.

1... In addition to these two medium tanks, the fewer heavy t36 and t54 are even more amazing, especially the latter. I got a report yesterday. A t54 defeated a whole division. This monster-like tank resisted the shooting of cannons of all our calibers, destroyed twelve tanks and seven anti-tank guns... In view of the threat of the latest Russian tanks, our army must immediately develop tanks that can regain the battlefield advantage!"

Well, German tank designers are about to start to go crazy. Of course, the most crazy one may be the beard. This nationalist will never endure the German lion's loss to the backward Slavic pig. He will regain his advantage at all costs and means to earn back this face.

However, this takes time. At least in 1941, the Germans had no chance of regaining their advantage. For the time being, they could only use backward tanks to fight against the terrifying bear. Of course, the Germans would not resist stupidly. They would reasonably use tactical cooperation to offset the bear's advantages, such as open-ground coordination.

The pilots of Stuka who had been cheating finally had a place to use their skills. When the torrent of the Ukrainian Front rushed to the outskirts of Warsaw, the ready-to-go Stukas made the Red Army armored soldiers shouting sprints understand a truth without the cover of the Air Force. Even the torrents of the armor will be cut off!

Groups of Stukas rushed towards the prey on the ground like a wolves. Each dive and every round of strafing can achieve results. This one-sided massacre lasted for a whole morning. The Red Army commander, who thought about the war too simply, quickly tasted the consequences!

In just one morning, there were hundreds of Red Army tanks falling to Stuka's hands. The 12th and 34th Tank Divisions of the Eighth Mechanized Army suffered heavy losses. More than one-third of the tanks were destroyed, and the other third also needed repairs. What's even more terrifying is that just when the commander of the army, Major General Leahbisev, was preparing to suspend the offensive and reorganized the troops, the German grenadiers who had run away like rabbits suddenly turned around and killed them.

These damn Germans didn't have the intention of running away in a panic. They were like a group of evil wolves. Unprepared to guard, the 12th Tank Division fell into chaos, and then the 34th Tank Division also began to have a mess. Seeing that the 8th Mechanized Army was about to be made of dumplings, Rokosovsky arrived.

Unlike Liabisev, Rokosovsky did not continue to attack forward regardless of the orders of Mostovenko. Rokosovsky slowed down the attack speed and reorganized the formation of the troops. Although this made Mostovenko very dissatisfied and looked down upon, it turned out that Rokosovsky was right. The 9th Mechanized Army quickly rescued the 8th Mechanized Army in the chaos and repelled the German counterattack. Liabisov, who escaped, called Rokosovsky himself and thanked Rokosovsky for being so nice.

"Comrade Liabishev. The situation has not improved now! Our troops are too sudden and have serious lack of air cover! Without air cover, our troops are unlikely to break through the enemy's defense line. I think we should rest for a while, build a defense line first, and wait for the main forces of the group army to converge!"

Liabisev was a little hesitant because the orders of the front and the army were placed there, and they both stipulated that they would die. If they could not complete the task, they would have to bear political responsibility. He was not as thick as Rokosovsky's backstage. Yakir and Tukhachevsky held them accountable, and he, the small army leader, would be crushed to death in minutes!

"Comrade Constantine Constantine Lovich, we are soldiers and can only obey orders!"

Liabisev's answer disappointed Rokosovsky very much. He knew very well that the 8th Mechanized Army would continue to try to attack tomorrow, which in his opinion was just a meat bun to beat the dog. But he also knew Liabisev's concerns. The military order was like a mountain, and not everyone could not accept the orders outside the king.

However, Rokosovsky still couldn't watch the 8th Mechanized Army die. He first called the Army Command and strongly demanded the cancellation of this unreasonable order. After failing, he strongly asked the Front to send more fighter jets to cover their attack, and the Front's answer was: "It can't be done!"

Why can't it be done? It's very simple. Do you still remember the unsupported East Polish foot cloth? Their airport suffered a heavy blow before, and a large number of planes and facilities were destroyed. The cargo chose to run away. The final result was that there was no one to repair these airports, which made it impossible to use. The more advanced fighter jets of the Red Army, such as Jacques 1 and Jacques 3, were shorter legs, and they couldn't stay for long after flying over Warsaw, and could not cover the armored forces on the ground. In the Warsaw area, the Luftwaffle Air Force was not ordinary, so the air superiority god has changed hands, and Rokosovsky didn't think about any air cover at all.

What happens to the armored forces without air cover when facing the joint strangulation of the superior air-grounds? There is no need to talk nonsense. On June 17, the two assaults organized by Liabisev were crushed by the German army in minutes. Apart from destroying the last little assault force of the army, there was no more results.

In fact, not only was there a problem with the assault spearhead, but the foundation of the Ukrainian front was also somewhat unstable. The Soviet army, responsible for restraining the Hungarian and Romanian troops, obviously could not complete the tasks assigned to them by their superiors. They first retreated little by little, and then collapsed. Especially after the German army adjusted and deployed some of the Central Army Group troops to this direction, the collapse came faster!

In just three days, Kiev opened its doors, and the enemy troops of about 60 divisions rushed towards Kiev like a surging force. What's even more terrifying is that the Ukrainian Front had no reserve force to block the entrance, and most of the main forces of the Front went to East Poland. This entrance could not be blocked at all!

"Once Kiev is lost, the entire Ukrainian front will not have a retreat. It is likely to be surrounded by the enemy!" Triandafilov introduced the situation on the battlefield with a worried face. It was obvious that he had realized that this problem was quite serious.

Tukhachevsky's face looked very bad, because he was the one who advocated a counterattack immediately before. Now the worst situation has occurred, but he still refuses to believe that the Ukrainian Front is in danger of being surrounded and annihilated.

"The Ukrainian Front has basically defeated the German army on the front, and our army has advanced to the front line of Warsaw. As long as we continue to work hard, it will be no problem to defeat the enemy's central front in one fell swoop." Tukhachevsky said confidently, "As long as the Belarusian Front continues to put pressure on the German army on the northern wing and restrain the enemy, the Ukrainian Front is still very likely to eliminate the enemy!"

After a pause, he said firmly: "We cannot be timid because of a little risk. As long as we are more determined than the enemy, our army can occupy Warsaw before the enemy captures Kiev, and the enemy will collapse at that time!"

Tukhachevsky seemed very confident, and his confidence gave some of the swaying senior officers a reassurance. It was obvious that the generals were still willing to continue to gamble, which made Li Xiaofeng quite helpless.

He could only settle for the second best: "I can only keep my own opinions. I always think that taking the risk of counterattack when the war broke out is too high. Kiev also has important significance for maintaining the offensive on the front. I must ask my comrades to pay attention that Kiev has stockpiled a large amount of supplies. Once the enemy cuts off the traffic route from Kiev to the front, whether the Ukrainian Front's offensive can be maintained is a problem. I firmly demand that the troops be drawn immediately to Kiev, even if they cannot be drawn from the Ukrainian Front and the Belarusian Front, troops must be drawn from other directions, such as the Caucasian Front or the Central Front."

Tukhachevsky expressed his opposition to this: "We must never draw troops from the Central Front. As a vital reserve for the Belarusian Front and the Ukrainian Front, the Central Front is related to the success or failure of the second phase of the counterattack against Germany. No soldier or soldier of the Central Front can be mobilized!"

After some bargaining, the Military Commission finally decided to draw 15 divisions of troops from the Caucasian Front and the Crimean Front to fill the pit in Kiev. However, in Li Xiaofeng's opinion, this little force is not enough. Even if these 15 divisions and the troops left behind in the Kiev Military Region were added, there were less than 30 divisions around Kiev. Facing the enemy of 60 divisions, who dares to say that it is foolproof?

However, Tukhachevsky didn't care about so much. He had already been obsessed with the strategic idea of annihilated the enemy Central Army Group and could not get out of it. He was determined to attack and attack, and Trotsky, who was determined to solve the German problem as quickly as possible, and Sverdlov, who was unwilling to lose an inch of his territory and was upset by the crying of friendly countries in East Poland, was so difficult to change his combat plan.

Not only Li Xiaofeng complained about such adventures, but also the officers on the front line, such as Rokosovsky, Meletskov, and Konev, expressed considerable concerns.

For example, Konev, who is currently the commander of the 6th Mechanized Army, said: "The progress is not going smoothly. The enemy is tenacious in the face of the enemy, and the mechanized troops are very difficult to advance... After learning about the determination of the Front Command (Belarusian Front), I couldn't help but start to doubt that the reason why the North Wing of the enemy Central Army Group opposite us resisted so stubbornly was entirely to buy time for the South Wing of the enemy Central Army Group and the South Army Group that surrounded the Ukrainian Front in the south... What's even more terrifying is that the Ukrainian Front is still advancing deep into the enemy. If Kiev loses, what kind of disaster will it be!"

As the commander of the Central Military Region of Moscow, Yakir is not very optimistic about the current battle and reminds his good friend Tukhachevsky to be cautious. Unfortunately, Tukhachevsky did not listen and still urged the Ukrainian front to strengthen the offensive.

At the same time, senior German generals including Hald and Blaushich also realized a possibility that they could completely encircle and annihilate the blind and rash Ukrainian front at the junction of East Poland and Ukraine.

The always-failed little beard turned this idea into reality. He said to the senior officers in a seductive voice: "The Russians are falling into a trap! The reserve team must be mobilized immediately and ordered the Central Army Group and the Southern Army Group to eat these rabbits that were delivered to the door!"

The Germans were very quick to move. Soon, the German team, which was originally a reserve team and a considerable number of the servant teams, were transferred to the direction of Warsaw. The Northern Army Group, which was originally attacking East Prussia, was also transferred away a considerable number of troops because they failed to make much progress, and was specifically used to strengthen the northern wing troops of the Central Army Group.

After this adjustment, the Central Army Group was greatly strengthened, especially the number of German troops on the front line in Warsaw increased sharply, which doubled the pressure of the Ukrainian front that insisted on advancing. After arriving at the front line in Warsaw, it was almost impossible to move forward!

While the Ukrainian Front continued to invest a large amount of troops into Warsaw, with the cooperation of Romanian and Hungarian minions, the German army on the southern front finally arrived at the periphery of Kiev. For a time, the situation in Kiev was in danger... (To be continued...)
