Chapter 1 Ancient Temple Garan

The sunset is setting, and the yellow sand is everywhere.

On the desolate ancient road, two vague figures, one big and one small, were slowly moving forward in the wind and sand.

The black linen clothes were stirring in the wind and making a violent sound. The omnipresent sand hit the face through the curtain under the hat, causing pain. The figure walking in front bent slightly, and used its seemingly not strong body to block the wind and sand for its companions behind it.

This is the most common windy and sandy weather outside the Jade Pass. Although it is early spring, there is no green in the vast and bleak state.

Dang, dang...! A clear bell sound penetrated the rolling wind and sand and came into the ears of the two of them. The current figure stopped, stood up straight, and took off the gauze of the hat with one hand, revealing a slightly tender young man's face.

The boy is about fifteen or sixteen years old, with a slightly dark complexion and a straight body. Although there is a bit of fatigue between his eyebrows, his eyes are still lively and energetic. Under the straight nose, his lips are tightly pursed, revealing a kind of perseverance and calmness that is inconsistent with his age.

The boy narrowed his eyes and tried his best to look at it. In the misty distance, there seemed to be a building, which should be the source of the bell.

After determining the direction, the boy bent down again, lowered the hat with one hand, and held the companion's small hand tightly with the other hand, and took big steps to continue moving forward.

The sunset gradually sinks on the horizon, the sky turns dark, but the wind and sand show no signs of stopping.

In front of the collapsed mountain gate, a stone tablet is half buried in the soil. Due to the long-term erosion of wind and sand, most of the handwriting on the tablet is unclear, and only the four characters "Jalan Temple Stele" in the Yangwen seal quotation are still complete. Looking around, this ancient temple named Jialan has almost become a ruin, with broken walls everywhere, leaving only a dilapidated main hall, barely standing in the wind and sand.

Standing in front of the broken hall, a trace of vigilance flashed in the boy's eyes. The two of them came to look for the bell, but the ancient temple in front of them had been ruined for many years, without any human breath. Since there was no popularity, how could the bell sound come from?

Turning his head slightly, the boy reported his companion's gaze.

The young man's companion was silent for a moment, then nodded slightly.

A dazzling light flashed through the dim sky, followed by a rolling thunder that echoed the sky, and the air began to be filled with a damp smell, indicating that a heavy rain was coming.

The boy no longer hesitated and stepped forward to push open the two broken hall doors, held his companion's small hands and walked into the hall.

The hall was dark and wet and moldy. The young man was so excited that he could only barely distinguish the general outline of the hall. He was about to take out a fire sliver to illuminate it, but suddenly he felt a gust of wind blowing, and a light bang sounded, and the two hall doors behind him were strangely closed automatically.

The boy's body suddenly tensed, and he clamped his hand into a fist, habitually protecting his companions behind him.

Huh! Huh!…! Without any warning, candlelights ignited one by one, instantly illuminating the entire hall.

In the middle of the hall, the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha is sitting cross-legged, with his left hand horizontally on his left foot, and his right hand drooping to form a Taoist appearance. There are two venerables, "Kasyapa" and "Ananda" standing on both sides of the hall. In addition, there are also eighteen Arhat statues respectively on both sides of the hall, either happy or angry, sitting or sleeping, with different spirits and shapes.

Because of the age of time, whether the Buddha or the Arhats are covered with dust, spider webs, and even the body is damaged. Under the shaking of the candle, the light on the Buddha statue is dark, not only without a trace of compassion and harmony, but it makes people feel particularly gloomy and weird.

Boom! Another thunder thunder swept across the hall, and the entire hall seemed to tremble.

"Why don't you worship the Buddha?" With the aftermath of thunder, a majestic and magnificent voice suddenly rang in the hall.

"When you see the Buddha, why don't you worship?" After a sound, hundreds of sounds and thousands of sounds merged into a torrent, just like a morning bell and evening drum, which was deafening.

The statue of Sakyamuni in the middle of the hall suddenly appeared in thousands of golden lights, his eyes opened and closed with compassion, and his solemn Dharma image made people sincerely feel worshipped. The two Venerables Kashyapa and Ananda, together with the eighteen Arhats, also appeared in the same moment. The Sanskrit sounds of the entire hall were bursting with sandalwood, and the auspicious aura was filled with people, making people wonder if they were in the holy realm of Lingshan.

"Why don't you worship me when you see the Buddha?" This time, the young man could see clearly that the person who spoke was the Venerable Kashyapa standing on the left side of the Buddha. Seeing this strange scene, the young man's eyes suddenly appeared in raging fire. Within his sight, the so-called image of the "Buddha", "Venerable" and "Arhat" who descended from his true body immediately became illusory and blurred.

"Broken!" With the boy's whisper, the entire hall was shattered like a broken mirror. Whether it was the Buddha or the many arhats, as well as the golden light and auspicious aura, they all turned into countless pieces and splashed and fell.

The sound of the Buddhist chant ended abruptly, and the sound of wind and rain outside the hall was clearly heard.

The swaying candlelight, the worn Buddha statues, and the smell of wet mold, all prove that what you saw, heard and heard, was just an illusion.

In the shadow of the corner, a pair of eyes were secretly staring at the two of them. After a few breaths, it seemed that there was no chance, and the owner of the eyes shrank back his head in disappointment.

After the boy inspected for a week and determined that there was no danger, he did not hesitate to remove the altar in front of the Buddha statue. It was a stormy night, and the hall was damp and cold. If there was no fire to keep warm, the long night would be difficult to bear.

The rotten wood burned when it touched the fire, and the raging fire brought some warmth to the hall. The boy and his companions sat next to the fire, and the pottery jar filled with water was licking the flames with a hint of heat. The supper was two dry hard steamed buns, plus a small piece of pickles. Pour the hot water into the porcelain bowl, and then tore the steamed buns into pieces and soaked them in hot water. The two of them patiently sipped the hot water in small mouthfuls while chewing the steamed buns that had been soaked in soft water.

The sound of rain outside the hall went from sparse to dense, but in the end it seemed to be pouring.

The rain water seeped into the broken hole at the top of the hall, dripping onto the stone slabs on the ground, making a 'tick' sound.

Even when eating, the young man's companion did not take off the yarn hat, but just used one hand to slightly lift the yarn curtain and sent the bowl to his lips to sip it gently.

Bang! The hall door was wide open, and the cold wind poured into the hall with rain, and the burning candlelight was blown out in an instant.

The boy suddenly looked up and saw two burly figures walking into the hall.

The two took off their hats one after another, revealing two very similar faces. They had thick eyebrows, ring eyes, straight nose, wide mouth, and very tough in their spirit.

The boy held the porcelain bowl in one hand and looked at the two men who were constantly approaching, with alert hidden in his eyes.

The two big men stopped a few steps away from the fire, and their sharp eyes fell on the boy and his companions.

The boy immediately felt a sense of pressure, but instead of trying to resist, he naturally showed a look of surprise and shrank his body back.

It was observed that the boy's reaction was just like that of ordinary people, and other than that, he did not find any danger in these two people. The two great men's expressions were slightly relaxed, and one of them turned around and left the hall gate, while the person who stayed behind bowed and asked, "Where Ye Fan, how can you ask the two names of the noble surnames?"

Although the great man who claimed to be Ye Fan used polite words, his expression could not hide his arrogance.

"Here, Du Chongxiao is down, this is my younger brother Du Liuli." The young man bowed his hand and looked a little nervous.

"So it's Brother Du." Ye Fan nodded, glanced at the silent young companion, frowned slightly, and thought to himself that this man was so rude.

At this time, another man returned, and respectfully led a man and a woman into the hall. Ye Fan hurriedly walked over, bowed and said, "Young Master, it's okay to rest here, but I've aggrieved your daughter-in-law and Miss Lin!"

"It is a great blessing to be able to live in a place to shelter from the rain. Why do you still feel wronged? It is said to be 'Go to be content and always be happy', Wan'er, don't you?" The young man was dressed in white, his face was like jade, his eyebrows were starry eyes, and his smile on his lips was like the spring breeze in March. His behavior showed a very casual and calm manner.

He and the woman neither wore a straw hat nor a straw raincoat, but they had not even wet their hair around them.

"It's okay to sleep in the open all night. However, I always feel that there is something strange here!" The woman is in her youth, with beautiful appearance and gorgeous clothes. She walks like a willow to sway, showing her graceful posture. Her bright eyes glance around, and a slight doubt appeared on her pretty face.

Ye Fan and another big man felt embarrassed. It was obvious that Miss Lin Wan could not believe their ability when she spoke like this. The two of them felt a little angry, but then they thought that Miss Lin Wan was from the Biluo Immortal Sect. It is said that her cultivation had reached the level of enlightenment and skills, and her own son could not match, let alone the two of them!

"Where is strange?" The young man in white put away his smile, and a divine light emerged in his eyes. In terms of cultivation, the other party was indeed slightly better than him. It would be reasonable if he really found something wrong.

"It seems that there is a demonic aura!" Lin Wan's bright eyes suddenly condensed, and her eyes fell on the two people beside the fire.

Du Chongxiao suddenly felt like a needle pricking his whole body, and that sharp gaze seemed to be able to penetrate his skin, penetrate his flesh and blood, until it penetrated his lungs. He was shocked in his heart. The young woman's cultivation was probably several times higher than the two big men combined!

Lin Wan moved her jade steps lightly and walked to the two of them. Her eyes had passed over Du Chongxiao and completely locked on her companions beside her. After staring for a while, Fang softly spoke, "Can you take off your hat and let me see?"

Although the tone is gentle, it is hard to hide the strong meaning.

"My brother is sick and doesn't want to see anyone. Please forgive me!" Du Chongxiao stood up with his companion's hand. At this time, every muscle in his body was tense. Unlike the two big men's tests just now, the woman in front of him was clearly not good.

Facts prove Du Chongxiao's judgment.
