Chapter 17 Lack of Funds
The Renwall Mountains, the Duower Fort.
It has been a while since the battle ended. The bloody smell between the mountains gradually faded with the winter sunshine, regaining the fresh air of the past.
In the simple room, Modrian woke up from his sleep, and his tired look on his fair face could not be concealed. With his current body training, he could not stand the many things that happened recently.
The Noxus Empire cavalry's food, clothing, housing and transportation, as well as the consumption and distribution of various urgently needed materials were something Modrian had never experienced before. Fortunately, with the help of Dryus and Gregory, it was a little easier.
"Mr. Modrian, breakfast is ready."
After hearing the movement inside outside the door, Cranfogs knocked on the door and said that the captain of the war stonemason had served as the butler of the dying Fort Worde for some time.
"Yeah, I'll come here right away." Modrian cheered up. The harder he worked now, the better the future would be.
The main fort of Duower Castle has three floors, with Modrian's room on the top floor, the kitchen, reception room and study on the second floor, and the conference hall on the first floor. Although it is not big, it has all the internal organs.
"What are Crane, what are Dryus and Gregory doing?" Modrian asked while having breakfast.
The breakfast was pretty good, with vegetable soup, white bread and jerky wild boar, which suited his taste.
"Mr. Modrian, Lord Gregory took the Noxus Expeditionary Cavalry to explore the Remwall Mountains the day before yesterday and has not returned yet. Lord Dryus just went to the foot of the mountain to pick up Captain Cooper, and the next batch of supplies and food should be shipped."
Cranfogs stood aside and said with a smile that the Dowborg was moving in a beautiful direction at a speed visible to the naked eye, which was a good thing for them.
When Modrian heard Cooper's name, he looked a little resentful, not to the individual, but to the Golden Shield. Every time Cooper's arrival means the consumption of the Golden Shield.
The expenses for all the Noxus Empire cavalry in the Fort Dower were used for nearly 100 gold shields. Coupled with daily consumption and horse food, Modrian felt that the gold shield was not enough.
Of course, compared with the powerful force of the Noxus Empire cavalry, he felt that the consumption of the golden shield was still very cost-effective.
After enjoying the delicious breakfast, Modrian wiped his mouth with a napkin, and he began to think about how to maintain the basic expenses for everyone.
It is not Modrian's style to sit and eat. The most important thing is that he calculated all the expenses after leaving Perris Castle, including the previous upgrade of troops. One-third of the 3,000 gold shields given by his father Viscount Brook had been used, and the remaining one could last about half a year.
“The funds are quite scarce!”
Modrian was full of helplessness. Recently, he had completely fallen into the golden shield, otherwise the daily consumption of the Noxus Empire cavalry could have dragged down his finances.
A burst of noisy sound came into the small building. Modrian put down his thoughts and walked out of the main fort with Cranfogs to greet him.
There were many carriages loaded with cargo staying on the wide road, and Cooper was directing people to unload supplies and food, which was the daily consumption of Fort Duower in the next seven days.
Dryus also arranged a dozen Noxus Empire cavalry to help and speed up the unloading speed. It was hard to see that the Noxus Empire cavalry resounding throughout the continent of Valoran would do unloading work.
"Mr. Modrian, good morning!" Cooper was the first to see Modrian and saluted respectfully from the bottom of his heart.
Thinking about the recent rumors in the town of Irvingdale, Cooper was still a little unbelievable. Mr. Modrian, who was once extremely mediocre in Perris Castle, became unfamiliar and invisible to see clearly.
If it weren't for the wandering life together for more than a month, Cooper would have confirmed that Master Modrian was in front of him, and he would have doubted whether it was the legendary miracle that had changed Master Modrian.
To eliminate the wolf thieves and jackdaws, there are knights and a very elite cavalry team, which have nothing to do with mediocrity.
However, for this, he began to be glad that he had made the first choice to become a follower of Master Modrian, and perhaps he would have the opportunity to become a knight who was out of reach in the future.
"Cooper, early, I hope you can bring good news."
Modrian jokingly patted Cooper on the shoulder, his first follower. If nothing unexpected happens, he began to prepare for the next plan to allow Cooper and his original subordinates to develop power in the town of Irvingdale and become an outpost-like existence.
During these days of sleeping in the Duower Fort, Modrian not only arranged the Noxus Empire cavalry to eat, clothing, housing and transportation, but also thought about the future development direction. Duower Fort is just his starting point.
"Sir Modrian, I happen to have some good news and bad news here." Cooper said respectfully.
"Hungry... Let's tell the bad news first." Modrian looked a little surprised. He didn't expect Cooper to report the news.
"Recently, news leaked in the town of Irvingdale, saying that it was the pioneer knight, Lord Modrian, who removed the wolf thief jackdaw to the north of the kingdom, and that you have a Knight and an elite cavalry team under you." Cooper said carefully.
Modrian half-squinted his eyes, and a faint cold light flashed by. Unexpectedly, someone was digging out information about his battle with the wolf thief Jackdaw. Could it be the Jeffrey family?
"Good news?"
"There are three good news." Cooper looked at Modrian's changing face and clarified his thoughts. "The first one is that all the seized weapons and armor were sold, and there was a revenue of 105 gold shields."
"The second is that when we were developing our power in Irvingdale town, we received the help of the garrison officer Manan Zerom, and now we are gradually controlling the underground power in Irvingdale town."
"good!"
Modrian couldn't help but say admiration, and he also recalled the situation reported by Gregory before. While cleaning the battlefield, he met the garrison officer of Irvingdale Town.
Perhaps it was Benniez's influence, or perhaps it was Gregory's forceful oppression, but now things are moving in a good direction.
"The third one is that before I came, I met Lord Mananzerom. He gave me a crystal card with 500 gold shields inside, saying that this was the reward for the wolf thief jackdaw in Edalas City." Cooper continued, and at the same time took out a purple crystal card from his arms.
After hearing Cooper's news, Modrian couldn't help but smile happily. This should be the most good news he has heard in these busy days.
After taking the purple crystal card, the golden shield inside alleviated his lack of funds, but what he should do should be made should be arranged in advance.
"Good job!" Modrian nodded to Cooper. "I hope you can master all the underground forces in Irvingdale town as soon as possible. If there is a lack of manpower, people can be sent to help."
"Okay, Lord Modrian."
Cooper said respectfully, he knew that this was Mr. Modrian giving him a chance. Through the recent observation and understanding of transporting supplies, there were many existences in the Duower Fort that were not inferior to him, and even powerful people made him feel fatal danger.
