How did you understand the madness under the tranquility of Chen Yishi?

The script was not written clearly. Before that, the French writer Faronce's "On the Madman in Literature" who was fortunate to read gave me a lot of inspiration, and made it clear that for this character, he should not play his madness, but the external reason why he was mad. This is the correct idea.

Why is Chen Yishi crazy? After getting the character setting from Liu Heping, I did three things.

At that time, I asked many teachers to read the role settings, guide me on my external performance, introduce the stories of such people, and even asked them to think for me: Why am I crazy?

(2) Write an autobiography of Chen Yishi

Combining your life experience, emotional memory, and indirectly obtained materials, making a biography for Chen Yishi is a good habit. From the current point of view, it should also be a compulsory course for a good actor.

(III) Living in roles

At that time, I didn’t realize the importance of making sketches, but I also worked hard to adapt to the role, walking posture, speaking tone, and even eyes... I tried to live in the role, especially the eyes. What I didn’t lack in this circle is the madman in peace. I combined the eyes of several friends and created the Shen Yishi I understood.

These three aspects of work have had a great impact on me, and have helped me grasp the most important things in the role and gained a lot.

What impact did the filming of "The Ming Dynasty" have on me?

The good part:

(1) Persist in deep life, sometimes even crazy, but it is basically correct.

(2) Established standards for acting and watching opera. I don’t like the image that acts correctly but is not three-dimensional and has a distinct personality trait. This kind of creation is difficult to arouse the audience’s imagination.

(3) Acting must first establish ideas. I have sympathy for Shen Yishi. On the other hand, as an actor, I need to expose that era when there is no justice and only the party is the same to attack different things through Shen Yishi. This is the idea of ​​this character.

In short, the purpose must be clear. An actor must organize the characters he plays with certain ideological logic, that is, consider what the characters he plays will bring to the audience.

The bad part.

(1) When writing a character's autobiography, it was written with emotion when making a biography for Chen Yishi. However, although I generally insisted on this approach later, I was relatively too rational in the writing process and the help to the creation was not as great as I imagined.

(2) Too much demand for the external characteristics of the characters, and believe that only by obtaining these external characteristics can I "live freely", otherwise I will become a form and be at a loss. Sometimes I have to piece together some things that are clearly not what I ask for, resulting in the poor effect of the creation.

In short, "The Ming Dynasty" is of great significance to my performance career. On the one hand, I adhere to the correct, that is, the realistic creative principles, and at the same time I lack the understanding of some other important principles and cannot fully grasp them.

Teacher Li Xuejian criticized me for formalism and did not pay enough attention to experience. I did not refute it at the time, but I was not convinced. However, I could not reach the state of pursuit by using my own methods.
