Chapter 773 The trend of opposition between North and South

Suiling and Huaipu live on the north bank of the Huai River. The two counties are two hundred and fifty miles apart. There is a Huaiyin County located on the south bank in the middle. Due to Yuan Shu's intervention, Huaiyin County has also become Yuan Shu's territory. Just as the two ends of a shoulder pole are in the hands of Dong Hu, the midpoint of the shoulder pole is in Yuan Shu's hands. If a large camp is not set up on the other side of Huaiyin County, Yuan Shu can break through the central army of Huaiyin County, like a conical military formation piercing the linear military formation.

But if a large camp is set up on the other side of Huaiyin County to resist, the conical army formation will no longer face a linear formation, but a goose formation. It will not be so easy to break through the defense, and the initiative is in the hands of Dong Hu.

Dong Hu confronted Guangling County across the river in Xiapi. The same habit as the main flanking forces of the Roman military formation, the focus of Dong Hu confrontation was not the Huaiyin camp of the central army, but the Suiling camp on the western front.

There are two main reasons why Suiling Camp was chosen as the main force on the western front. One is that Suiling is at the intersection of Sishui and Huaihe River. Xiapi County, the Xuzhou capital, can directly enter Suiling along Sishui, so Xiapi County is easier to reinforce Suiling; secondly, there is a Huailing County on the south bank of the Huai River 100 miles west of Suiling. Like Huaiyin County, Huailing, which belongs to Xiapi Kingdom, has also become Yuan Shu's territory.

The one confronts Xutai County across the river, and Huailing County is a hundred miles west of Suiling County. In other words, once Suiling Camp is restrained by Xutai County, the flanking Huailing County can kill the Huailing River and attack Xuxian behind Suiling.

Xu County itself is not important. What is important is that Xu County cannot be lost. Once it is lost, Suiling Camp will fall into the enemy's siege. However, Suiling is very close to Xu County. As long as the main force in front of the enemy is Suiling County, it has enough ability to divide troops to garrison or reinforce Xu County.

Dong Yue, Yu Shuang, Dian Wei, Xu Chu, Wu Dun, and Yin Li will all be transferred to the front line for garrison. Not only them, Zhang Xiu, Dong Shang, Wu Ba, Liu Pi, Zang Ba, Sun Guan, Huang Long, and the others will also be transferred to the front line. The soldiers and horses in their hands are mainly composed of three components: one is the Dong Zhuo group, the second is the Qingzhou army, the Taishan army group, and the third is the Luoyang military farming prisoners, which were originally affiliated with the prisoners who were besieged by the Guandong princes.

Compared with Dong Zhuo and the Qingzhou Army (including the Taishan Army), Dong Hu believed in Luoyang's military farming prisoners. After all, Luoyang's military farming prisoners had been honestly farming for nearly three years.

The total number of troops in the three different systems is about the same, all around 30,000. They will eventually set up defenses along the Huaihe River against the prefect of Guangling County Lu Bu and Shouchun Yuan Shu, while the safer and more reliable Hu San, Zhang Liao and Dong Gu remained in Yuxu.

Due to the obstruction of the Dabie Mountains, if the north wants to conquer Jiangnan to the south, there are only two attack directions, namely the Eastern Front of the Lianghuai and the Western Front of Jingxiang.

From Jingzhou along the river flows into Jiangdong, controlling the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and attacking Jiangnan naturally achieves twice the result with half the effort. However, Dong Hu was unable to take Jingzhou in a short period of time, not only because of the "neutral zone" of Nanyang County, but more because his expansion was too rapid, which made him feel more and more uneasy and urgently needed to stop and stabilize his position.

The Central Plains have not been completely taken over and the people have not completely surrendered. Continuing to expand will be at risk of being overwhelmed, but he does not intend to let Yuan Shu, Lu Bu and Cao Cao develop with peace of mind, and it is necessary to give them appropriate pressure.

Dong Zhuo, Qingzhou Army and some prisoners were all unstable factors. They sent them to the front-line battlefield for consumption, so they could not affect the large but hollow Central Plains, which gave the Qingyan, Henan and Xu people enough to rest. At the same time, a hundred thousand troops were pressing along the Huai River. Yuan Shu and Lu Bu were all under tremendous pressure, and they would also maintain a considerable number of troops to fight against them.

In name, the territory in Yangzhou belongs to Yuan Shu, but the territory he can actually control is Runan County, Jiujiang County, and Lujiang County. Among them, Runan County has a population of about 500,000, Jiujiang County. In other words, once Yuan Shu lost two million people in Runan County on the north bank of the Huai River, Yuan Shu's greatest war potential was only 100,000 soldiers, while Guangling County where Lu Bu fled into 400,000 people, and the maximum war potential was 400,000 soldiers.

Since Dong Hu launched the Yuzhou and Xuzhou War, he would definitely attack Runan County. However, Zhu Jun killed Zhang Miao too suddenly, and many deployments were not in place. Runan County was densely populated and numerous cities were numerous. The Yuan family was deeply rooted in Runan County, and fierce siege wars would definitely break out. This required more heavy siege equipment. Whether it was to transport the heavy siege cast by Luoyang to Runan County with ships or temporarily built in Runan County, it would take time. Therefore, Dong Sizhong, Jia Xu, Zhang Xiu, Dong Shang and others were allowed to set up defenses on the border of Runan County, rather than starting a full war immediately.

It is extremely stupid to start a war on multiple lines, unless Dong Hu has enough troops to support him, so he gave priority to the main battlefield of Xuzhou. After taking Xuzhou, he concentrated on dealing with Runan County and pushed the front line to the north and south sides of the Huai River.

Once the action is taken, Dong Hu will take over Runan County. In this way, Yuan Shu and Lu Bu's greatest war potential will be only 140,000 soldiers and horses. The total strength of the two sides confronted each other on both sides of the Huai River is equal, but this is the greatest war potential that the people can bear, and it is actually impossible.

One million people, excluding the elderly, weak, women and children who cannot go to the battlefield, can have up to 500,000 young and strong people who can fight. In other words, four farmers support one soldier. Doesn’t the farmers need to farm to support their own young people?

The food and supplies needed by 100,000 soldiers is a huge number. Only four men support one soldier, which puts great pressure on the people. Moreover, there are many mountain and forest barbarians in Jiujiang, Lujiang and Guangling. Are mountain and forest barbarians easily bullied by Yuan Shu and Lu Bu?

But once Dong Hu stationed 100,000 troops on the north bank of the Huaihe River, Yuan Shu and Lu Bu must maintain 100,000 troops to confront him, but it is difficult to support so many troops based on the territory they actually control. In this way, he can only ask for the prefect of Danyang County Zhou Xin, the prefect of Wu County Cao Cao, the prefect of Yuzhang County Zhou Shu, and the prefect of Kuaiji County Wang Lang... The key is, will Zhou Xin, Cao Cao, Zhou Shu, Wang Lang and others honestly take out money and food?

Zhou Xin, Cao Cao, Zhou Shu, Wang Lang is unwilling to take out money and grain. Yuan Shu, Lu Bu is probably the most powerful and will send troops to rob. Jiangnan will be in a melee. Dong Hu does not think that Yuan Shu, Lu Bu will be Cao Cao, Zhou Xin's opponent. He just needs to wait quietly and wait for Caozhou's coalition forces to enter the north of Jiangbei Lujiang, Jiujiang, and Guangling County. He can take the opportunity to enter the Huainan land and push the front line to the north bank of the Yangtze River again...

These are normal speculations. Dong Hu does not think that Yuan Shu, Lu Bu, Cao Cao, Sun Ce and others will pee in a pot. In a short period of time, they may unite to fight against the strong north, but once they form a balance between the north and south sides of the Huai River, their conflicts will definitely erupt completely.

Of course, these all take some time, and Dong Hu also needs time to stabilize the people's hearts and needs to solve the problem of Yuan Shao in Jizhou and Gongsun Zan in Youzhou. So he is not in a hurry. He just needs to send all the restless men to the two Huaihe Rivers routes and continue to put more pressure on Yuan Shu and Lu Bu.

Some things are only in the plan and need to be supplemented and improved, but this is the big goal.

Xuzhou needs to move the capital from Tancheng to Xiapi County, but this does not mean that Dong Hu does not pay attention to Donghai County. In fact, he pays more attention to it than anyone else.

At this time, the Yellow River had not yet diverted into the Yellow Sea. It was not until the Southern Song Dynasty dug the Yellow River that the Yellow River diverted into the Yellow Sea from the Bohai Sea. Because the mouth of the Yellow River is in the Bohai Sea, the salt content of the Bohai Sea was also much lower, and the amount of silt and sand also caused the Bohai Bay to have no natural deep-water ports. When Dong Hu took over Bohai County and Qingzhou, he deliberately searched for deep-water ports along the seaside, but he returned disappointed.

The Bohai Bay is like an extremely huge bowl-shaped, and Donglai County is more prominent, just preventing the spread of mud and sand to the Yellow Sea... Of course, it cannot be called the Yellow Sea at this time. After all, the Yellow Sea was changed to the Southern Song Dynasty, and a large amount of mud and sand flowed into the sea to turn the sea water yellow. This is called the Yellow Sea. Now it is more appropriate to call it the "East Sea". The Bohai Sea should be called the Yellow Sea. It is just that Dong Hu is a habitual person in later generations.

But no matter what, the prominent position of Donglai County prevented the spread of silt and sand into the Yellow Sea, so that there are some deep-water ports in the Yellow Sea, such as Jiaozhou Bay in later generations, Langya County Bay in Langya Country, and Langshan Bay (Lianyungang) between Donghai County and the island Yuzhou Mountain. These places are deep-water ports. In addition, the salt content of seawater here is also higher, which is more suitable for large-scale salt drying to get rich.

After Dong Hu drove Dian Wei and Xu Chu away, he took a hundred and ten people to the beach. After seeing what he did, he felt a little uneasy. Xuzhou and Yuzhou did not do so many troubles, especially the Qingzhou army's troubles were introduced to Dong Yue, Yu Shuang, Wu Dun and Yin Li's army. The Chang'an camp and Taishan army were also a little uneasy. How could they not do their jobs and run around?

The soldiers were neither stupid nor stupid. Shanziying retired and transferred 5,000 people at one time. Regardless of whether Dong Zhuo, Qingzhou Army, and Taishan Army were qualified, they were a little dissatisfied. Everyone was the same, and they should be assigned some more or less.

The soldiers below were dissatisfied. Just as Dong Yue, Yu Shuang, and Wu Dun and Yinli were discussing whether to return to Tancheng and win more or less some quotas, Dong Chong's handwritten letter came over...

"well……"

Dong Yue threw the letter onto the small table and looked at the people in the hall with a wry smile.

"What should be said and what should not be said, Dong Shuai said it clearly. It is better to strictly discipline the soldiers, otherwise..."

As he said that, Dong Yue shook his head and smiled bitterly. He was too familiar with Dong Hu and knew that Dong Hu was serious. Dong rewrites the letter to inform him, rather than writing the letter himself, he must have been dissatisfied with them in some matters.

After listening to Dong Yue's words, Yu Shuang, Wu Dun, Yin Li and others looked at each other. Yu Shuang was a little hesitant and spoke carefully after a while.

"Will Dong Shuai be dissatisfied with us? I don't want me to wait..."

"Don't think about it randomly, Dong Shuai is not that kind of person."

Dong Yue spoke unhappily, and Yu Shuang hurriedly closed her mouth. Among the four, Dong Yue was the least worried. He was not only from Lintao, but also inclined to Dong Hu early on. Moreover, the Beidiying was originally affiliated with the Dongbuyicong Group.

Dong Yue frowned and said, "I won't talk about the affairs of the North and South Army in Chang'an. You all know that we were either included in the Eighth Battalion of the Southern Army or the Auxiliary Battalion of the Southern Army. Dong Shuai regarded us as his own people."

Dong Yue picked up the letter and shook it in public for a few more times, with a particularly cautious expression.

"It has been clearly stated in the letter that the Four Cavalry Camps of the Southern Army, Sun Niu and Hu San's first and second-infantry camps are all old troops of Dong Shuai. After following Dong Shuai for ten years in battle, he will naturally retire and change his posts earlier than us."

"Dong Shuai is kind and unwilling to the soldiers to harass the good people... You can tell me yourself, is our soldiers in line with Dong Shuai's wishes?"

Dong Yue threw the letter down and looked at Yu Shuang and said unhappily: "Qingzhou Army, Taishan Army is under Hu San's control. We can't control them, but Yu Shuang, you must strictly restrain the soldiers and read this letter to the brothers below."
