Chapter 18 Door-to-door investigation
Renn tried three other icons to figure out their functions.
One is to take photos, which can take photos and save the scenes you see in front of you, and it comes with a photo library, but they are all empty for the time being. The other is to be a translation dictionary, which Rennes cannot be sure of because there has been no change after opening, and it may be that the application method is wrong.
The last one is more interesting, it is actually a music player!
Renne likes music a lot. When he was a child, his mother asked him to learn piano. Although he didn't play well, he still knew a little about music. He usually played with friends and colleagues, and he would sing a few songs on KTV, which won applause.
He turned on the music player and found that there were nearly a thousand songs in it, all of which he had downloaded on his phone before.
This was a big surprise for Renn.
He was full of anticipation and a song was played on demand, and the familiar melody sounded in his mind. As he listened, he became fascinated. Suddenly, he missed everything on the earth, which was quite sad.
After listening to a few songs, Renne sighed softly and turned off the player.
It was dawn soon.
Rennes didn't sleep all night, but was full of energy. He had breakfast in the hotel lobby and went out.
Esberg and Ramsey are dead, so he can go back to the apartment openly, but considering that the bag of money, swords, and shotgun I got last night are not convenient to carry, so he did not check out immediately and hid it in the room first and then deal with it later.
He is now going back to the apartment and show himself to the landlord, otherwise the landlord may report to the city hall, causing trouble for himself.
Taking the bus back to the apartment in Los District, Renne knocked on the landlord's door on the first floor.
A fat middle-aged man in pajamas opened the door, and he had a newspaper under his arm. When he saw Renn, he looked a little impatient and asked, "Renn, what's wrong with you? Is the water pipe broken again?"
Rennes had looked for him twice because the water pipe in the apartment was leaking, which was an old problem with the apartment building.
This building has been built for decades, and the water pipes are seriously aging and are already unbearable. If it is replaced with new water pipes, it will cost a lot of money. This stingy guy is reluctant to pay.
"Good morning, Mr. Lenny."
Renn smiled and said, "The day after tomorrow is my time to pay the rent, but I'm busy these days and may not be in the apartment, so I'll give you the rent in advance."
As he said that, he handed over the prepared 120 copper lisso bills.
When Lenny heard that it was not a water pipe problem, his face calmed down. He took the money happily and nodded, "Actually, it doesn't matter how many days later, but it's better to pay it early. I'm having breakfast, Rennes, do you want to go with me?"
"Thanks to Mr. Lenny, I've eaten it." Renn simply refused and then said politely.
The landlord's stinginess is famous throughout the street, but he always likes to pretend to be generous. If he really agrees to invite breakfast, he will definitely try every means to deduct the money from this breakfast back.
Back in the apartment on the third floor, no one lived in it for almost half a month, and a thin layer of dust fell.
"If you want to live in the future, you still have to take hygiene."
Rennes cleaned the entire room in half an hour, then washed himself and changed into clean clothes.
He was about to go out and was about to find an alchemy shop for a soul test, but he heard a conversation between the two people from the street.
"115 Cosham Street, Captain, we're here."
This is a beautiful female voice. Judging from the sound only, her age should not be over thirty years old, and her voice reveals a sense of confidence. When she walked, she was accompanied by the sound of metal armor colliding. She was obviously wearing armor and her steps were very heavy. The sound made was different from others and was very easy to identify.
The response to her was a rich man: "It's this apartment building, right, let's go up, Room 308 on the third floor."
The man's steps were extremely light and agile, just like a cat walking.
Ren was shocked when he heard this. The door number of his apartment was Room 308!
Are these two people looking for me?
He immediately locked in the source of the sound, and two footsteps came from the first floor lobby. They had entered the apartment and soon stepped onto the stairs.
It can be judged from the sound of footsteps that these two people are most likely to be extraordinary, so it is unlikely that they will escape.
And this is the third floor. Even if your physical fitness is far superior to ordinary people now, you will be injured if you jump from the third floor and you won’t be able to run far.
"You must never escape, otherwise you will just stop telling yourself."
Various thoughts flashed through Renn's mind, guessing that the two of them should have been sent by the official. They found out that the owner of the manor outside the city was Esberg last night.
The reason I came to find myself was that I had been to the swordsmanship and knew that I was once Esberg's assistant, so I came to investigate and ask.
"They were very fast and they tracked me down in a few hours. They probably found the altar of the evil god, so they attached so much importance to it."
Rennes secretly felt fortunate that he did not bring the money and the shotgun back to the apartment, otherwise it would be in trouble.
As he thought, his mind calmed down.
Soon, a knock on the door sounded.
Renn opened the door calmly and saw a man and a woman standing outside the door.
The man looked like a thirties, wearing a black leather jacket and trousers, a gun bag hanging around his waist, and a wide-brimmed felt hat that looked very similar to a cowboy hat. He looked ordinary, had a slightly hooked nose, had a few shallow wrinkles on his forehead, and under his rough eyebrows were a pair of dark and deep eyes.
Behind him was a fully armed female swordsman.
She is very tall and has a pretty appearance, with long golden hair tied behind her head, wearing exquisite silver armor, carrying a two-handed sword, and a golden scale engraved on her breastplate, which is the holy emblem of the God of Justice.
"A level 4 ranger, but wearing a soul gun like a gunman, and a level 3 female holy swordsman!"
Ren had already opened the Eye of Soul, and saw the extraordinary professions of these two people, but his face showed shock and asked, "Two sirs, you..."
The man in charge took out a card from his leather jacket pocket and said, "I am Pollock of the Demons of the Security Bureau. She is my teammate Frida. This is my ID."
Pollock did not mean to hand over the card to Renn to view it, but just showed it in front of Renn for a second or two before retracting it.
If it were ordinary people, they would not be able to see the content on the card clearly, but ordinary people would not dare to ask about the identity of the visitor.
The Public Security Bureau of Longshande is similar to the Public Security Bureau in his previous life. The law enforcement officers people usually see are called sheriffs. There is one of the most special departments in the Public Security Bureau, namely the Demon Elimination Team, which is specifically responsible for cases related to demons or cults.
The members of the Demon Elimination Team are all extraordinary people, and the number of players remains between five and ten. They are combined with various professions and are collectively taken when going out.
The scene of Pollock showing his identity card made Rennes feel inexplicably familiar.
Isn’t this a scene I often saw in movies before?
If Pollock suddenly shouted fbi now, he wouldn't be surprised...
He complained in his heart, but on the surface he pretended to be a little frightened, quickly opened the door and said, "Sir, please come in, don't you know what's wrong?"
Pollock walked into the room, but the Holy Sword Frida stayed outside the door. She glanced at Renne deeply and then looked back.
Pollock looked around the room. The layout of the room was very simple and obvious at a glance. He couldn't see anything at all, so he asked, "Do you know Esberg Fern?"
"Yes." Ren said truthfully: "I used to be his assistant, but I only worked for half a month."
"Why just do it for half a month?" Pollock asked in a deep voice.
"Uh..." Renn felt a warning in his heart. This was the only place where he might be exposed. Because he didn't know how Esberg explained to the swordsman hall after he killed him.
Although the biggest possibility is that Esberg said nothing and pretended not to know where he was going. There is another possibility. Esberg reported to the Sword Museum that he was not suitable for the job of assistant and had already fired.
When Pollock saw Renn hesitating, his brow frowned and said majestic: "This matter is crucial. You'd better tell the truth, otherwise you can only take you back for interrogation."
"No, no, no..." Renn waved his hand quickly and said in fear: "Sir, I'll say."
"Half a month ago, Lord Esberg and Ramsey found me and asked me to bring my weapons and do something big with them. The kind that can make a fortune, but may have to kill people. I was very scared at that time and ran away when they were not paying attention. I hid in the countryside for a long time and didn't dare to come back until this morning."
Renne's half-true answer avoided the previous question so as not to match the statement from the Sword Museum.
Pollock didn't respond after hearing this. He stared at Rennes, scaring Rennes to his head, his body shivered slightly, and then asked: "You can actually run away, which is also a warning. But why don't you report it?"
Renn replied timidly: "I dare not, and there is no evidence."
He looked up, "Sir, has Esberg been arrested?"
"He's dead." Pollock replied expressionlessly: "And your classmate Ramsey is dead too. They are all cult believers. You are lucky and have not been involved."
"Ah..." Renn looked shocked, then quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing him like this, Pollock was no longer interested in asking questions. He turned around and left the room, waved to the female Saint Swordsman: "Let's go."
Renn watched the two leave, and waited until their figures disappeared at the stairs before closing the door.
He wiped his forehead and found that his palms were wet. He couldn't help but admire his acting skills. He shook his head and said intently: For the sake of his life, this is all forced out!
Downstairs, Pollock and Frida had already walked out of the apartment and the two began to talk.
"Frida, have you found anything?" Pollock asked in a low voice.
"No, captain. My mind detects everything is normal. He is just an ordinary person and has nothing to do with the evil god." Frida replied.
"Then don't worry about him."
Pollock snorted and continued, "This kid is not telling the truth. He is not an extraordinary person, but he escaped from the second-level shadow warrior. There must be some concealment here. But since he has nothing to do with the evil god, then forget it. It doesn't make much sense to continue chasing the young man."
The footsteps of the two gradually faded away until they disappeared completely.
