Fire, flickering firelight, the girl sitting in front of the old fireplace patiently pounding herbs, the heat wave dried the blood on her face.

Behind her, on the low bed, slept a slovenly man. He was unkempt, covered in wounds, and his shabby clothes were stained with blood. She didn't know whether they belonged to him or someone else.

The girl turned around and reached into the metal lunch box to grab some mashed herbs. She thought that without him, it would be difficult to escape from the homeless man today.
