Chapter eight hundred and ninety fourth experiment with Tubo

It is not difficult to see from this example that if religion wants to gain power that can override the regime, the first thing is to get support from secular regimes, so that they can have room for missionary preaching. Furthermore, secular regimes decline, and the sects have a large number of believers at this time. At this time, religion can transform the spiritual leadership in its hands into secular influence.

Of course, there was no such thing as the power of the church subverted the regime in ancient China, which is not difficult to understand.

Just like the Orthodox Church of the Eastern Roman Empire, it has a profound civilization tradition and will not easily allow religious forces within its territory to threaten their own rule. More importantly, there is no influential religious doctrine and church in China that has the only "messenger representing heaven."

In other words, it is impossible to transform the spiritual influence in the teaching power into secular influence at the right time.

On the contrary, the supreme emperor of secular power, that is, the emperor, is always known as the son of God. The so-called king's power is granted by heaven. I was ordered by heaven, so there is a religious meaning here. At the same time, if there is a drought and there is a tradition of the emperor's sacrifice and rain, part of the divine power will be given to the emperor. This is also the divine meaning that affects religion.

In China, the emperor is the embodiment of the integration of regime and theocracy, so religion has never entered the political field in China. It has to be said that this is a kind of luck.

Of course, it is not without precedent to use religion to subvert the regime. In the Yellow Turban Rebellion in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Jiao founded the Taiping Road, with millions of believers.

But it was eventually destroyed because the religion founded by Zhang Jiao has too deep worldly significance, which has prevented the Taiping Cult from truly developing.

Millions of believers are poor people. They do not receive the support of the rulers, and they do not have the support of the middle and upper classes. They have too few resources to use for war. At the same time, they are also the doctrines against the rule of the Eastern Han Dynasty that forced them to be incompatible with the current dynasty until they were destroyed.

Without the support of the regime, this matter will not be possible.

"I think, if you don't believe me, we can do an experiment." Zhang Nan said with a smile.

"Do an experiment? What kind of experiment?" Comrade Li Er asked in confusion.

"We can do an experiment with Tubo to see if this religion is as powerful as the ministers said." Zhang Nan smiled.

In fact, when Songtsen Gampo did not rise to power, Buddhism had not yet entered Tubo.

The traditional belief in Tubo is the Yongzhong Ben Sect, which has long incorporated many primitive Buddhist factors of its own growth. It also worships natural gods and has professional masters.

These natural worship, ghost worship, totem worship, as well as divination, taboos, witchcraft, blood sacrifice, etc. are important features of the original primitive religions that were originally popular in Tibet.

Primitive religions attach great importance to exorcising evil spirits and taboos. When holding a prayer ceremony for exorcising evil spirits, one must first cleanse the body, followed by burning cypress and vanilla, which is a climax. According to Chinese historical records, small prayer activities must kill sheep, dog, macaque, and large prayer activities must kill horses, cattle, dog, donkey, and human sacrifices. Although the rise of this religion, the common people's family sacrifices have been rarely held and replaced by models, this tradition was still retained in Zampu and the nobles. It was not until Buddhism flourished.

The entry of Buddhism into Fan really started from Songtsen Gampo, but it was not the prosperous period of Buddhism. In fact, Bon religion still dominated until Qili Sulong Lizan ascended the throne. Although Buddhism was spread, it did not firmly gain the upper hand.

So Zhang Nan felt that it was not impossible to do an experiment with Tubo at this time.

"What kind of experiment do you want to do, please tell me first." Li Er asked with interest.

"It's simple. Since you don't believe that this religion has such great power, let's use religion to destroy Tubo." Zhang Nan said lightly, but there were already bursts of surprise in the court.

Even Li Er, who always believed in Zhang Nan, showed an incredible look on his face.

"Qingquan, you are saying a crazy word." Li Er sat on the dragon throne and looked at Zhang Nan with some disbelief.

"I don't think this is a crazy saying. Your Majesty, you don't believe me, you just haven't seen a country destroyed by religion." Zhang Nan said.

"Cingquan, are you so sure?" Li Er still didn't believe that a mere religion could destroy a country, which was very unrealistic in Comrade Li Er's opinion.

At least this seemingly unrealistic method is not directly used to fight with force. After all, it is obvious to attack with force. If you can fight, you can't beat it. If you can't beat it, you can't beat it. If you can't beat it, you can't beat it.

"Your Majesty, just try it, it won't cost anyway." Zhang Nan said.

"Tell me what you want to do specifically?" Li Erdao.

"It's very simple. First of all, go to them to recruit believers in large quantities. With a certain foundation of believers, you can gain the attention of their Tubo official, and then you will get their support, and then turn the religion we preached to them into their Tubo's national religion. Wouldn't it be easy to destroy Tubo at that time?"

Zhang Nan said it was very certain.

"Cingquan, can you guarantee that those people in Tubo are willing to believe what you said?" Fang Xuanling asked in disbelief.

"Haha, of course, I dare to ask Lord Fang. Lord Fang thinks, who is the most people in this Tubo?" Zhang Nan asked.

"This..." After Zhang Nan asked suddenly, Fang Xuanling, the famous adviser, had no idea for a moment. Who is the most?

"Of course, they have the most people. Without the people, how can the country be a country?" Zhang Nan was speechless when he saw Fang Xuanling and asked and answered questions directly. After all, his relationship with Fang Xuanling was good.

Fang Xuanling nodded, agreeing with Zhang Nan's statement.

"Then I ask Lord Fang again, who among the people has the most people?" Zhang Nan continued to ask.

"Of course they are poor. Tubo is not a wealthy country. Even their nobles live a miserable life, let alone the people." Before Fang Xuanling could answer, Changsun Wuji answered Zhang Nan's question.

"Oh? It seems that Lord Changsun knows a lot about Tubo, and even knows so clearly what kind of life their nobles live." Zhang Nan also joked.

"In the early years, I also dealt with those Tubo people. Not to mention the nobles, the place was bitter and cold, and the food was not easy to grow, so I naturally lived a less nourishing life." Changsun Wuji explained.

"Yes, since you said that the Tubo people's lives are not going well, then my sect can make them live a happy life. Do you think they believe in my sect?" Zhang Nan said with a smile.
