Chapter 415 Churchill's determination to develop a new type of aircraft carrier group

The Royal Navy is the oldest branch of the British navy, army and air force.

According to later generations, historical data can be seen that in World War I, the main combat method of the Royal Navy was to block the enemy from the sea. After World War II, the Royal Navy was pulled down by the US Navy in terms of scale and became only the second. However, it was still a maritime power in maritime operations and anti-submarine operations. However, at this time, its maritime missions were mostly to protect maritime routes.

But no matter what, between 1692 and World War II, the Royal Navy was still the most powerful navy in the world at that time.

It also opened up many colonies for Britain overseas, bringing huge sources of wealth and natural resources to Britain's military and economic development.

The Royal Navy Garage Headquarters is the Royal Navy Parksmoof Naval Base in the southern part of the United Kingdom.

When the US aircraft carrier fleet left British ports under the command of Lieutenant General Kincaid and prepared to go to Sicily to support the war, but shortly after departure, he was attacked by the German I400 series super submarines, Prime Minister Churchill and Lieutenant General Kincaid and their aircraft carrier fleet were separated and brought several high-level naval officers to the Parksimofu Naval Base.

Because there is the new British escort aircraft carrier, the best escort aircraft carrier made by the UK and the only escort aircraft carrier that was not immediately decommissioned after the Royal Navy.

After service, it can be converted into a transport ship, so that the ship can carry two dual-mounted, two single-mounted 40mm anti-aircraft guns, and 90 aircraft.

The British Navy originally planned to use it as an escort aircraft carrier and large anti-submarine ships on Arctic and Atlantic routes, but because in the past two days Churchill and a group of high-level British Navy officers, including Her Majesty the Queen and other royal members, after seeing the huge US aircraft carrier fleet, they decided to speed up the development and production of more advanced aircraft carriers to enrich their navy.

Because they all knew that Britain could safely become a powerful empire and have many overseas colonies by relying on the strength of their navy; that is, if their maritime hegemony is taken away by other countries, their national strength will gradually decline.

Because in addition to its own aircraft carriers, the British Navy has actually leased Long Island-class escort aircraft carriers and Revenge-class escort aircraft carriers from the United States; as well as attacker-class, hunters, hunters, followers, and strikers from the United States.

However, the main purpose of Prime Minister Churchill's visit to the Parksmaof Naval Base today is not to simply ask the Navy Department and engineers to study and prevent the loaned US aircraft carrier groups, or to innovate and develop them; but there is a more important thing, that is, to take a look at the latest Emir-class escort aircraft carriers that the United States has leased to them in the United Kingdom. After the ship is completed, it mainly serves as an aircraft ferry, a small attack aircraft carrier, as well as to carry out land fire support, anti-submarine and other tasks.

In addition to the Emir-class escort aircraft carrier, there is also the Egyptian Governor-class escort aircraft carrier. After completion, this ship is used to serve as a small attack aircraft carrier, as well as to conduct land fire support, anti-submarine missions.

Finally, there are two escort aircraft carriers, the Queen and the Trumpeter. They are both mainly responsible for escort aircraft carriers after completion, as well as for land fire support, anti-submarine missions.

However, the United States rented five of each type of escort aircraft carrier at one time for use by the British Admiralty.

"Is this the new escort aircraft carrier that Lieutenant Kincaid brought us along the way?"

When Churchill came to the Emil-class escort aircraft carrier, he stared at the ship at Alexandria Avenue, deputy commander-in-chief of the British and American Allies in the Mediterranean.

Because Cunningham, the commander of the Mediterranean Fleet and the First Minister of Maritime Affairs, was not on the scene, but was still engaged in a naval battle with Chen Yanlong and his aircraft carrier fleet in Sicily, Churchill asked Alexander, who rushed back to receive the huge US aircraft carrier fleet.

"Yes! It has been verified with President Roosevelt!"

Alexander nodded and responded.

"What do you think of these escort aircraft carriers? Can our Admiralty develop escort aircraft carriers that are better and more advanced than them?"

Churchill stared at the Emil-class escort aircraft carriers with main guns: 2 5-inch/38 caliber artillery heavy anti-aircraft guns: 16 40mm anti-aircraft guns, light anti-aircraft guns: 20 20mm anti-aircraft guns; and can carry aircraft: 18-24 (Avengers, Swordfish or Barracuda + Wildcat, and F4u or Hellcat) and continued to ask with a burning look.

"Yes! But we need time!"

Alexander's words are written in the words.

"What do you think of Baron John Coloning Tovey and Sir James Ferns Somerville? Are there any good suggestions?"

Hearing this, Churchill restrained his burning gaze and calmly looked at the two admirals beside him and asked.

Baron John Coloning Tovey, who was commander of the Naval Station in the Headlands, and Sir James Ferns Somerville, the commander of the British Navy Delegation in Washington, looked at each other and then remained silent.

"I agree with Commander Alexander!"

After a moment, Baron Tovey looked up at Churchill and responded.

"So too! But we may think of ways to make our development faster, because I believe that everyone has seen the strength of the US Navy in the past two days. If we don't rush to catch up now, I'm afraid that our British Empire's world's number one maritime hegemony will be taken away by the United States!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Sir Somerville responded quickly.

"I appreciate Sir Somerville's idea! We must not lag behind the American navy, and now the German aircraft carrier fleet emerges! So we must do everything we can to revive our maritime authority!"

Churchill looked at Sir Somerville with satisfaction and replied loudly in a passionate tone.

"But now we are fighting with the German and Japanese troops, and many of our shipping routes have been blocked by them. Moreover, the Japanese army has occupied many of our overseas colonies, which has reduced our overseas resource income much!"

"And now our domestic economic situation and the fear of the people being in war will affect the development and production process of our aircraft carriers; if we do not solve these troubles, we may not be able to carry out large-scale aircraft carrier development and production!"

Alexander raised his doubts.

"I just said that no matter what the price we pay, we must quickly have more aircraft carriers and carrier-based aircraft to revitalize our British Empire's navy!"

Churchill looked at Alexander coldly and said firmly.

"A thousand difficulties will lead to one thousand and one solution. Don't we all have the support and wealth of the US military's military supplies?"

"And we can now get so many new aircraft carriers from the US military to conduct research. If we don't grasp it well in such a situation and use it to develop and produce our new aircraft carrier, then when can we wait for the end of the war?"

"I'm afraid that once the war is over, our British Empire's maritime hegemony will be over!"

Churchill continued to be excited as if he was indignant.
