Chapter 217 Bombing towards Berlin

Then all the British and American pilots rushed to have breakfast. As for those higher-level officers, they hurriedly ate some breakfast and hurried to the command center on Pantelleria Island for a new combat meeting.

Because at this time, General Carl Sparz, General Eke, General Anderson, and General Jimmy Doolid, and Commander of the 3rd Bomber, General Curtis Lewand, also came to Pantelleria Island to command the air strikes under the orders of General Arnold, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force, and Eisenhower.

In this new meeting, the Royal Air Force bomber command planned to dispatch at least 40,000 night bombers; and the US military also planned to dispatch more than 30,000 day bombers to carry out bombing operations.

In this regard, they were not worried at all that the number of aircraft of their troops was sufficient, because President Roosevelt had told them that the US industry had produced more than 80,000 military aircraft in 1943.

Therefore, all the air forces on the front line don’t have to worry too much about the number of support provided by the rear aircraft, so they can fight with all their might.

Even if the US air force is to fight in China, the Aleutian Islands, Australia, the Philippines, the South Pacific, and the Central Pacific to hungry Africa, the Mediterranean, Italy and the European continent at the same time, it can provide sufficient aircraft for supplementation.

To this end, after experiencing the fierce battle on Pantelleria Island, the US military was able to quickly mobilize thousands of aircraft, and even more follow-up aircraft, to carry out the Sicily Battle.

However, in this meeting, they followed the wrong ideas of British Air General Charles Porter and Arthur Harris of the Bomber Command; their attack center will be shifted from Operation Point Bronck.

They no longer intend to destroy Germany's aircraft manufacturing industry or any industrial targets, but instead burn the German cities to lose and attack the morale of the Germans, thus making Germany a country with dispersed military morale and let them lose the war.

That's why they had this large-scale air raid that bombed Berlin. They planned to create the terrifying consequences of the catastrophe by destroying houses, various building facilities, civilians and citizens in Berlin's urban area, and let the Germans live in fear.

Their approach is almost consistent with the strategic mistakes of Hitler's dispatch of aviation troops and bombing London, England.

Of course, although the US air commanders also agreed to the air strike proposals of these high-level commanders in the UK, General Sparz and Eisenhower continued to retain the attack on aircraft manufacturing and all industrial targets, including German bearing factories, all submarine factories, and shipbuilding factories.

After the meeting was briefly completed, the US ace pilots Lt. Col. F. S. Goblaiski, Major R. I. Bong, as well as Francis Gablaiski, Zimki, Shilin, Mexilin and Bob Johnson, etc., also successively drilled into their planes, the latest P-51b fighter jets, preparing for pre-war commissioning and inspection.

Francis Gabrisky is a Polish American, and his name is also translated as Gebresky; Gabrisky or Gobresky is also the squadron leader of the 61st Fighter Squadron.

At the same time, it is an excellent ace pilot who "does not use tracer bullets" to correct ballistics and hits the target through short and short shootings.

His favorite fighter is: the P-47 "Thunder" fighter with strong engine horsepower, fierce firepower, thick armor, and extremely survivable abilities.

Because as long as the aircraft is not hit in a vital part, it will be almost harmless if it is dozens of bullets.

He destroyed 28 German aircraft in half a year and became famous in Europe and Europe's number one ace pilot.

The German aircraft they destroyed included 12 FW190, 9 Me109, 4 Me110, and 3 Me410 high-speed night fighters.

However, at this moment, he had only shot down 13 enemy planes, and 6 were shot down with his comrades.

Despite this, he became the No. 3 ace pilot under the 8th Fighter Command.

Since his debut, he has been constantly learning the fighting skills in the air with a desperate spirit, while engaged in fierce air battles with German planes.

"We will go to bomb Berlin, the capital of the Germans, later. Are you nervous? I'm still nervous than bombing the German submarine industry, aviation industry, transportation system, and oil industry."

"Because the air defense firepower in Berlin is very strong, and if we fly over a small island, we may have to consume a lot of fuel, so I am even worried about whether the fuel on our return journey is enough!"

While Francis Gabriski was focusing on checking his aircraft's performance, another ace pilot, Zimki, came to his P-51b fighter, looked up at the other party and said.

"I'm nervous, too. I have my favorite wife, Katherine," Cockland, and my two children are waiting for me to go back to see them!"

Gabrisky scratched his head and confessed a little sadly.

"Hey! Then our highest target today, the German Air Force, Foreign Affairs, Propaganda, and the Marshal's courtyard, as well as railways and the Secret Nazi Police (Gestapo) headquarters and other places, we have to increase the amount of bombs! Otherwise, we risked such a huge life to bomb the German capital this time, it would be a loss!"

When he heard the other person's tone of sadness, Zimki immediately changed the subject wisely.

"Haha! We are fighter pilots, not bomber pilots. We just need to escort our b-17 flight fortress bombers and conduct fixed-point bombing with the b-24 "Liberator" bombers! They are still in charge of bombing, and our main job is to fight against the German fighter fleet!"

In response to this, Gabrisky immediately restrained his slightly sad mood and smiled.

"But I feel that our strategic bombing operations in the past week and our Operation Point Bronck are also very effective, especially for Hamburg, Germany. I heard our commander say that 60% of the houses in Hamburg were now blown up by us, and more than 100,000 people were killed and injured, and our factories were blown up and destroyed by us."

"As for other German heavy industries, they also suffered a lot of losses!"

"If we continue to deal with Germany at the current bombing and destruction speed, they will soon be seriously injured and lose this damn war! And we can go home safely and live a peaceful life!"

Zimki continued.

"We are able to achieve such results because the German aviation troops rarely appear during this period, and have not even appeared!"

"I always feel that the German army seems to be doing something big, otherwise their air force will not shrink like this!"

Gabrisky worried.

"Or! Then we will fight like the Chinese people said, "They will fight with soldiers and water and soil! And we still have such advanced P-51b fighter jets now, so I'm not worried!"

Zimki responded with a smile.

"Well! I'm also very confident in our P-51b fighter!"

Gabrisky also said confidently.

Then they chatted for a few more words and then separated.

Not long after, amid the roaring sounds, one after another, one after another, b-17 bombers took off one after another according to the command tower.

Next is the b-24 bomber group, and then there are various fighter group.
