Chapter 543 Driverless Sensors

On the morning of September 2, the 10th International Sensors and Application Technology Exhibition was held at the New International Expo Center in the East District of Zhonghai Pujiang.

The exhibition attracted more than 700 sensor companies around the world including Optoi, Enoean, Bo Shi, Montford, HBM, Mike, Velodyne, CRRC Times, Kepinda, Jiangwei, Rom, Aerospace Electronics, Dahua, Turke and other globally to participate in the exhibition.

Tianyi was invited to participate in the exhibition as a famous light sensor in the country.

The team led by Yao Xin, the head of the optical sensor, arrived at Zhonghai on the afternoon of the 31st.

This time, Tianyi will be exhibiting a "light detection sensor" for unmanned driving.

Unmanned driving has frequently appeared in newspapers in the past two years, but the focus of people's discussion is basically on its safety.

Whether it is safe or not is reflected in the sensor.

Currently, there are five major sensors in mainstream autonomous driving, each with its own advantages.

The first is a 2D camera.

The advantages are high resolution, fast speed, rich information conveyed, and low cost. It can clearly identify objects, accurately understand the meanings expressed by traffic lights, signs and lanes, and also detect vehicles and pedestrians.

The disadvantage is that the images of strong light and sunlight are very large. Those who turn on the high beam at night should be blessed!

The second type is sonar. The working principle of sonar is: the transmitter emits ultrasonic waves of 50 kHz, and the receiver calculates the distance with the object by receiving the rebounded sound waves by time difference.

The sonar has a very poor resolution and is more sensitive to dirty things in the air, so it cannot distinguish the real information of the environment at all;

For example, if there are five words floating in the sky, it doesn’t recognize them, and it doesn’t know how many words float in detail. Anyway, it will stop "creaking" to you.

However, the sonar is cheaper than the 2D camera, and it is used for parking and reversing. It doesn’t hurt if you add a few more sensors.

As for driverless driving, let it go.

The third type is radar.

The radar knows how many words float in the sky, and it is not affected by weather conditions. Even rain, snow and smog can operate normally and is not sensitive to dust.

However, the radar transmits electromagnetic wave signals, so it cannot detect painted wood or plastic; it is very sensitive to metal surfaces. If it is a curved metal surface, it will be mistaken for a large surface by the radar.

For example, a small can on the road may even be judged as a huge roadblock by the radar.

The fourth type is gps, ranging and imu (inertial measurement unit).

This kind of thing is completely different from the military, so it's better not to mention it.

The focus is on the fifth type of sensor, lidar, the full name is "laser detection and ranging sensor".

Similar to sonar, lidar also measures distance by time difference between emission and reflection.

But the carrier is not a sound, but a laser.

Lidar has a lot of advantages, so I won’t go into details. Anyway, it is the mainstream and most secure unmanned driving sensor in the market.

There is only one disadvantage, it is expensive!

Prices range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Remember, it's one.

Last year, a Volvo XC90 driverless car crashed and killed a woman crossing the street in Arizona. The car was equipped with a lidar sensor produced by velodyne for "Uber".

However, it was later confirmed that Uber installed 7 lidar sensors for Ford fusion, but at XC90 it turned into 1.

Not to mention this matter, how much less it costs to install 6 lidar sensors, Uber is better than anyone else.

Of course, they became stupid afterwards.

…………

At this time, the exhibition hall was crowded with people, and buyers and tourists from all over the world were visiting the venues of up to 100,000 square meters.

Tianyi Technology, which has always attracted worldwide attention, has naturally become the focus of this exhibition.

At this time, outside the exhibition hall of hundreds of square meters, there were many people surrounded by light sensors, six sweet-looking tour guides, were introducing the "Light Detection Version 3.0 Sensor" to the guests.

"Our Tianyi laser sensor has a scanning frequency of 174.5hz, and can scan 2.2 million 3D data points per second..."

One of the girls with straight black hair was introduced with a black round box similar to the size of a talcum powder.

Hearing that the 3D information collected by the Tianyi Light Detection Sensor was as high as 2.2 million, the onlookers showed shock and asked.

"Little girl, you didn't lie to us?"

"Dyne's HDL-32e sensor produced by Dyne is only 700,000 data points per second. Doesn't this mean that your sensor is three times more sensitive than HDL-32e?"

"Yes! Global model sensors have just reached 1.8 million data points at present."

“…”

Faced with the inquiries of many domestic and foreign manufacturers, the girl wearing a white shirt and a professional skirt said without any haste: "Please look at the detector on my hand. It is Finland..."

Three minutes later, when the detector clearly showed 2.2 million scanned data points, many car manufacturers still didn't believe it.

How many data points are scanned can only prove the sensitivity of the sensors produced by your home and the similar products around the world;

But whether the safety of autonomous driving is really determined is whether the processor can complete such a large amount of information analysis in an instant and make correct predictions?

If these cannot be done, it is equivalent to speculating on concepts.

One of the middle-aged Asians asked in a difficult Chinese language: "Miss, have you conducted a comprehensive driving test?"

"Sorry, this optical c-1 detector has just been released not long ago and is currently only undergoing in-field testing."

Hearing this, everyone calmed down instantly because of the shock caused by scanning 2.2 million data points per second.

"Infield Testing" is just a pretty word, but to put it simply, it is experimental data.

Experimental data and road driving are completely different things, and the road surface is full of too many uncertain factors.

If there is no comprehensive driving test sensor, it is a fancy stand, which is not useful.

After listening for a while, Tianyi brought six different light detection sensors of the same type and different HZ light detection sensors brought by him this time have not undergone comprehensive site testing, and he suddenly lacks interest.

"After all, I'm not a professional car sensor, so I'm still taking it for granted!"

"Well! With such a large amount of information collection, even if it is really done, the price will probably be very expensive and mass production will not be achieved in the short term."

"Let's go, go to Dahua to take a look. I heard that they developed a sensor that was directly equipped with adas last month..."

Soon the big manufacturers who were watching left and walked towards the exhibition halls of other more competitive sensor manufacturers.

However, several manufacturer representatives stayed.

"Hello, little girl, I am the factory representative of Geely. I want to consult your engineer for some questions. Please inform me about it?"

The girl with black hair called a man who looked like a supervisor on the scene. After explaining the situation, the supervisor in his 30s came over and said with a smile: "Sir, please wait a moment, and Master Yao will come soon."

…………

Han Yi also knew something was wrong with bringing products to the exhibition without undergoing comprehensive site testing.

But time waits for no one. North America's restrictions and EU trade protection have had a great impact on the sales of light sensors.

In the third quarter, the total sales of optical sensors have dropped to RMB 1.3 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 35%.

Now light sensors are in urgent need of opening up new battlefields, automotive sensors.

Conference Hall of the East District of the Expo Center.

Han Yi is negotiating with Gilina Anderson, chief marketing officer of the German Einson Alliance.

The six major sensor production sites jointly built by the two sides in Germany came to an abrupt end in mid-May due to the sudden outbreak of a unilateral trade protection war.

Han Yi hopes that the Yi Nengsen Alliance can actively promote the restart of cooperation between the two sides.

"Although I also hope that our cooperation will succeed, you also know that there are some things that our company can decide." Gilina Anderson, who was in his 30s, spread his hands and said he was helpless.

Han Yi pondered for a moment and asked again: "I heard that Bo Shi is acquiring Yi Nengsen, and your government is also interested in promoting the conclusion of this transaction. I wonder if this is the case?"

"Yes. There is indeed this." Gillina Anderson did not avoid this question, "But Mr. Han, please rest assured that the memorandum of understanding we signed is still valid."

The memorandum of understanding is a bond that maintains the relationship between the two parties during the honeymoon period; if the relationship breaks down, it is worse than wiping the butt paper.

Han Yi put his hand on the back of the chair and tapped it gently. After thinking for a while, he finally stood up and reached out and said, "Okay then! Say hello to Mr. Anderson for me."

Gillina Anderson stood up and said hello to him, his blue eyes full of smiles, "Okay. Mr. Han walked slowly."

…………

Yao Xin and others were outside the conference room and saw Han Yi coming out, they came forward and asked, "How is it?"

Han Yi shook his head.

Yao Xin looked a little disappointed, but then he followed: "I just met with Geely Chief Engineer Tao Yang. I hope we can do a comprehensive venue test there. What do you think?"

Han Yi thought about it while walking.

Why doesn’t he want to do a comprehensive venue test?

However, actual testing involves backend big data computing and AI intelligent systems. Tianyi is currently under intense development and has not yet arrived for closed testing.

These two things are currently better-made in the market, mainly Google and Baidu.

As early as 2016, Google's self-driving car road test mileage had exceeded 2 million miles; Li Yanhong took a Baidu driverless car to the Fifth Ring Road, which even attracted the attention of all sectors of society, including the traffic police department.

But Han Yi doesn't want to use the technologies of these two companies.

He wanted to wait for these two technologies to come out and then package them as a whole. At that time, a set of light detection sensor plus system sold for $3,000 or 5,000 US dollars, just like playing.

But time doesn't wait for anyone.

International Sensor Exhibition, what a great opportunity to debut?

Once you miss it, if you want to create a topic and attract the attention of domestic and foreign auto manufacturers, you will get half the result with twice the effort.
