Chapter 17 Traces of the Apostles
"It was the team led by Edward." Margaret quickly identified the identity of the team through the heavy armor on the leader.
The other party should have been attracted by the sounds made by Margaret and the others when they fought with the Crazy Man. Not to mention anything else, the "thunder" gunshots of the super heavy sniper rifle powered by Mo Jing can be heard by everyone in the ashes in half of the quarantine area.
This team of men in black had obviously just passed a fierce battle. Many of them were injured. The heavy armor of the man in the leader was covered with dirty blood and flesh. It was difficult to tell that there was even half a broken intestine hanging on the original colored shoulder armor. I don’t know whether it was a human or a beast.
Instead of entering the central market rashly, they stopped at the periphery of the market. A man in black carrying a steam light walked forward, and the light in his hand flashed a few times at a special rhythm.
"Miss, do we want to respond?" Lyon asked.
"Well, there is no need to refuse them..." Margaret nodded, but Ash noticed that she inserted a beautifully crafted short gun into the holster on the outside of her thigh, then picked up a blanket and draped it over her body, covering the short gun.
This action made Ash feel alert and replaced the steam gun in his hand with a brand new gas tank.
At Lyon's signal, the people on their side also lit up the car lights and responded to the other party.
The team hesitated for a moment, then quickly trotted over and joined Margaret and the others.
"Edward, why do you and your people appear here? When I was dividing the area, I remember you snatched away the palace area with the largest number of people." Margaret looked at the leader in heavy armor, leaning against the inner wall of the carriage, and asked in a seemingly careless tone.
"Now is not the time to worry about this, Margaret." Edward took off his heavy helmet and revealed a very handsome face, but there was a terrifying scar on his face, which made him feel a little hideous.
“We are in big trouble.”
"Big trouble? Please make it clear, is it that 'we' has big trouble... or 'you' have big trouble?" Margaret's words were full of hostility. It was obvious that she was not right with this guy named Edward.
"It's time now. Let me tell you the truth. There are only a few of us left in my team." Edward gasped and sat down with a little depressed look.
"Did you encounter a large-scale beast tide? Or... the madman?!" Margaret narrowed her eyes, and at this time, a solemn look appeared on her face.
She originally thought that Edward had just been separated from his subordinates at most, but if it was as he said that he had only left his subordinates with these dozen people at the moment, it would be a... big trouble.
As the strongest among the squads entering the isolation area, Edward's men in black had as many as 500 people, plus three "Sabretooth Tiger Type II" steam tanks. In terms of strength alone, Edward's team's combat power is definitely more than twice that of Margaret and the others... But now, these dozen of them escaped into Margaret's territory like a stray dog... What did they encounter?!
"No...none of them..." Edward shook his head, his face was extremely pale, obviously greatly frightened, "Apostles...we have encountered the apostles..."
"This is impossible!" Margaret shouted immediately, and she quickly walked to Edward. "If the apostolic-level energy fluctuations were detected, the army of Rinfeng Castle would have arrived here long ago!"
"Maybe they are already on the road... With the simple detection equipment we carry, it is no different from scrap iron in the force field in the isolation area... But I can guarantee that it is really an apostle... This is what I saw with my own eyes!"
"Which apostle did you see with your own eyes?" Margaret asked.
"The Sixth Apostle'Mysterious Black Mist'... It was a huge black mist. Before I even reacted, it had swallowed up the entire palace ruins. My subordinates and the captured seeds disappeared into the black mist without any sound. And I happened to patrol the outside of the camp with people... I escaped." Edward's tone was trembling. Although his expression was calm, the veins that were pounding wildly on his forehead exposed his nervousness and fear.
"Are you sure... that's the 'Sixth Apostle'? But none of us have seen the true body of the apostle with our own eyes. How can you be sure that it is not a huge mass of miasma?...or, something else?" Margaret still held a trace of suspicion in her heart. Although the existence of the apostle is active in most legends, the true body of the apostle has never appeared in the human vision so far. Even on the day of the coming, no one can see the apostle's coming with his own eyes... Of course, maybe they saw it, but the apostle forcibly erased their memories.
"Believe me! Intuition tells me that it is the Sixth Apostle! All the characteristics of it are in line with everything I see... That black mist is definitely nothing else!" Edward said hysterically, his hands clenched into fists and pressed against the ground.
"Are you sure it's not your hallucination? You shouldn't have been hitting the medicine, right?"
"Absolutely impossible! Margaret! We still have time to escape now, otherwise everyone would die here!" Edward said loudly.
"You should be given a sedative injection, which will make you slightly more normal." Margaret said, pulling out an injection from her pocket, pressing Edward's shoulder without saying a word, and stabbing the needle into his neck.
The potion slowly pushed in, and Edward began to breathe heavily, and a fine bead of sweat oozed out of his forehead.
"How do you feel now?"
"Huh...huh...I admit that I was indeed a bit overshot just now...huh...but, Margaret, I promise you that what I said is absolutely true!"
"That's what you've experienced. From the appearance of the black fog to the arrival of you, the more detailed the process, the better." Margaret sat down on the seat on the side of the car, crossed her arms in front of her chest, her long legs naturally raised, and her tight leather armored trousers outlined a heart-pounding arc.
Her emerald-like eyes stared at Edward's eyes from beginning to end, as if she wanted to read something from the other person's eyes.
