Fanwai Thirteen
The night became darker and an autumn rain became more and more dense, covering Jinling Prefecture City and Dabaoen Temple in the south city.
Since the old master Zhang Jingxiu killed Zen Master Hu here, the momentum of Dabaoen Temple has plummeted, and half of the temple has been destroyed. Now only the former temple remains well preserved.
In a remote courtyard of Dabaoen Temple, there is a pond that ripples in countless ripples under the autumn rain. The old trees beside the small pond are shaking, and countless yellow leaves are blown by the wind, falling on the water surface of the small pond, floating back and forth with the ripples.
In the side hall not far from the pond, the lights swayed, and two monks sat opposite each other in front of the dim and blurred statue of the Buddha.
One of the monks, who was probably not confused at the age of age, turned his head and looked at the rain curtain outside the house, gently twisted his long beard, and said, "What an autumn rain."
Another old monk looked at the three copper coins with the words "Tianbao" in his hand, and was stunned.
The old monk threw it casually, and three Tianbao copper coins were scattered on the ground, spinning continuously.
After a long time, the dust settled, and the old monk looked at the three copper coins, his face looked uncertain under the lights of the jumping lights.
The middle-aged monk asked softly: "Sir, what about this hexagram?"
The old monk stared at the copper coins in front of him and suddenly smiled, "I was a little surprised."
The middle-aged monk asked, "What unexpected joy?"
The old monk did not answer, but said, "A guest is coming."
Before he finished speaking, someone walked into the side courtyard with a storm.
The middle-aged monk frowned and turned his head to look at the person coming, and he felt like he was facing a great enemy in an instant.
The old monk who was good at taking advantage of the test of the hope was not too nervous. He still stared at the three Tianbao copper coins and said calmly: "It's okay, it's your own people."
An old man wearing a hood strode out of the wind and rain and entered the side hall.
Judging from the old man's outfit, he is not a Buddhist, but rather a Confucian man.
This is not surprising. Since the first year of Taiping, there have been many people who have escaped from Zen in the Confucian school.
The so-called "escaping from Zen" originally refers to escaping from Zen Buddha.
The Sage said: "If you escape from Mo, you will return to Yang, and if you escape from Yang, you will return to Confucianism."
Mo is the Mo family, Yang is Yang Zhu. The Neo-Confucian sage explained that the reason why the Yasheng said that the relationship between escape from Mo and the Yang and the Return of Confucianism was that "Yang and Mo are both evil sayings, and there is no major or seriousness. However, the Mo's theory is particularly out of falsehood, and it is difficult to act in a false way. Therefore, the saying of the Yasheng is like this, and it is not considered as Yang." Therefore, the saying of escape from Mo and escape from Yang refers to avoiding Mo and returning to Confucianism, which contains the meaning of "get rid of evil and returning to the right".
Therefore, later, those who later abandoned the Buddhist teachings and returned to Confucianism were called escape from Zen. Escape from Zen to return to Confucianism, and became fake to seek truth, that is, escape from Zen and returned to Confucianism.
When the Neo-Confucian sage was young, he also paid attention to Zen and read Confucian books, thinking that he was in harmony with Buddhism, but what he finally made was the choice of escape from Zen and return to Confucianism. As his poem says: "Don't escape from Zen, and you will finish the relationship." Therefore, in this way of learning about Buddhism and Taoism, those who avoid Buddha and escape from Zen are called "escaping from Zen".
However, later Buddhism emerged. In order to eliminate the influence of escape from Zen and confuse the Confucianism's opinions, escape from Zen was also called "escape" as learning Buddhism or entering a monk. The word "escape" in it no longer means "escape", but becomes "escape", which is quite a bit like hiding into an monk's sect to escape reality.
After the defeat of the Confucian Sect, the Taoist Sect began to "castrate" the Confucian Sect, deposed the academy and restricted the Confucian disciples. Many Confucian Sects could not accept it and were unable to resist. They were deeply disappointed with the powerful high priests and simply left the Confucian Sect.
After they left the Confucian Sect, the Taoist Sect was incredible and could only go to Buddhism, which was to "escape from Zen".
The joining of these people has enhanced the strength of Buddhism in disguise and laid the groundwork for the future dispute between Buddhism and Taoism.
The white-haired old man took off his outer robe, pulled out an envelope from his sleeve, and said, "I met someone on the way here, and he asked me to pass this letter to you."
The old monk waved his hand and said, "It's all my own people, just read it."
The old man with white hair nodded, took out the letter from the envelope, and read it word by word: "Brother Yang is a great critic. The matters he has made in conspiracy are of great importance. Now he has lived up to Brother Yang's expectations. He agreed with the officials to enter Jinling and work together to carry out major events."
The white-haired old man paused for a moment, looked up at the old monk, "No signature."
The old monk carried his hands on his back, looked at the curtain of autumn rain, and murmured: "What an autumn rain."
The middle-aged monk looked solemn and said slowly: "As far as I know, the Neo-Confucian priest who was stationed in Jinling Prefecture has set off for Xuandu to participate in the discussions of the Jinque of Taoist Sect. In addition, Li Xuan cannot escape, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
The old monk turned his back to the white-haired old man and asked, "I wonder what Brother Shi thinks?"
The old man white-haired said, "This is a dangerous move. If it can be done, I am afraid that it will really make the Taoist sect fall. But if it cannot, all our hard work over the years will be wasted. That's fine. If the Taoist sect is prepared, it will be difficult for us to make moves in the future."
The middle-aged monk stood up and said, "The arrow must be fired on the string. Even if we want to retreat, the Taoist sect will not allow us to retreat. The so-called greed case has already made Taoist students alert, otherwise Li Taiyi would not have caught the matter and made a big fuss about it."
The old monk nodded and said, "What he said is reasonable."
The white-haired old man sat down slowly and sighed: "Over the years, Li Xuan has asked Li Taiyi to take charge of human affairs. Li Taiyi has killed many of us. Li Taiyi is a sword in Li Xuandu's hand. If there is any change in Jinling, Li Taiyi will definitely come forward to suppress it personally. Some old men mean to simply turn Jinling into a trap, lure Li Taiyi to come, and then kill him in one fell swoop."
The old monk did not turn around and said lightly: "Avenge revenge."
The white-haired old man stared at the old monk's back and slowly spit out a word: "Yes."
"If I remember correctly, Qin Su is still in the world." The old monk suddenly said.
The face of the white-haired old man changed slightly.
The old monk continued: "The Taoist sect is not the Confucian sect that was not accepted by the young and yellow at the time. Even if we kill Li Taiyi, so what? At worst, Qin Su will continue to be the great master of Taiping Dao, and this move will completely anger Li Xuandu. Do you think Li Xuandu is better than Li Taiyi? Don't forget who integrated the Taoist sect and who defeated the Confucian sect? When Li Xuandu killed people, Li Taiyi was still a child."
The middle-aged monk also said: "Li Xuandu has been practicing for a long time, but I don't know what level he has reached."
The old monk whispered: "As long as you don't anger Li Xuandu, according to the decree given by the Buddha, Li Xuandu will not appear and take action for a while. The key is what attitude will our Emperor Majesty have in the court?"
The old man with white hair said: "There are only a few years left before the emperor passes away. Will he still make a big fight at this time?"
The old monk said: "If you seek stability, it is best to wait until the emperor ascends and take action, otherwise we will add variables."
The autumn rain outside the door is getting more and more urgent.
The three people in the hall fell into silence.
