Chapter 171 Buddhism

As soon as the Great Heavenly Master Zhang Jingxiu finished speaking, Li Xuandu was the first to respond, "What the Great Heavenly Master said is very true."

Bai Xiushang smiled faintly, nodded slightly, and showed his approval.

After Li Xuandu spoke, Qin Su and Shen Yuanzhou expressed their consent on behalf of the Wangqing Sect and Taiping Sect respectively. On Zhang Jingxiu's side, Wu Zhen recited the Buddha's name and said, "If you can really succeed in the peace, you will have immeasurable merit." Master Fa Nan also put his palms together and lowered his eyebrows and eyes.

However, Xiao Shiyu did not agree immediately, but asked, "I wonder how the great master should discuss?"

Zhang Jingxiu said: "I have long said that the twelve sects of the righteous path, including the Butian Sect, the Wangqing Sect, and the Tianle Sect, have set up alliances in total. From then on, there is no distinction between good and evil. There is only the Taoist sect, no major sect, but only three sects. The Taoist sect is jointly led by the three sects. If there is a big event, the three sects will discuss and decide."

Xiao Shiyu said: "There are two paths of good and evil, and there are 22 sects in total. There are only fifteen sects, and there are still seven sects left, namely: Wudao Sect, Yinyang Sect, Zaoge Sect, Dao Zong Sect, Pin Nu Sect, Huntian Sect, and Zhenchuan Sect. What should we do with these seven sects?"

Zhang Jingxiu's face was calm, "These seven sects have extremely serious crimes and have always been stubborn and unscrupulous. They should use thunderbolt methods to wipe out them. If they are lost, they will only punish the main evil."

Xiao Shiyu nodded, "If so, I have no objection."

After Xiao Shiyu finished speaking, Li Xuandu waved his hands and said, "Using the thunderous means to practice the heart of the Bodhisattva, this is the right path. I think the Master Zuo has never spoken, but what objection do you have?"

Zuo Yuhan, who had been silent, glanced at Li Xuandu, immediately looked away, and said only two words, "No."

At this moment, Yuanjue said softly: "I have something unknown to you, and I want to ask the great master for advice."

Zhang Jingxiu looked at Yuanjue and did not speak immediately.

Li Xuandu explained: "This is the Zen Master Yuanjue of Jing Zen. Although he is the longest senior in Jing Zen Buddhism, the affairs of this Zen Master Yuanjue are the main ones."

Li Xuandu's words did not mean sarcastic, but it was a bit ridiculous when he said it. After all, everyone knows how miserable and sad the Jing Zen Sect is today. If a sect is a house, although Zaoge Sect suffered heavy damage and the sect leader Zang was suppressed, the hall master and the altar master were still there, at least there was a frame and a few beams and pillars left. However, Jing Zen Sect was different. Even the beams and pillars were not left, and there was only a foundation left. Being able to attend today's discussions was just because of the status of Jing Zen Sect. In other words, Fang Yuan and Yuanjue were just a few things to make up for. No matter what others said, it was just that, after the Great Heavenly Master finished speaking, he would respond with a voice and make a decoration. Could it be that you still want to oppose the Great Heavenly Master?

But Yuanjue spoke at this time. Several sect leaders and elders did not show their faces, but no one really took Yuanjue seriously. Even Fang Yuan showed an uncomfortable expression. He wanted to help Yuanjue, but hesitated and did not take action.

Zhang Jingxiu could not see what he was thinking on his face, so he just nodded, "Zen Master Yuanjue, but it's okay to ask."

"Thank you, Master Da", Yuanjue first recited the Buddha's name in one another, and then said: "Although they are the twelve sects of the righteous path, the Jing Zen sect, Cihang sect, Vajra sect, and Zhenyan sect, among the twelve sects, are they from Buddhism. Just now, Master Daju said that the twelve sects of the righteous path, Butian sect, Wangqing sect, and Tianle sect join the Taoist sect together. Is it necessary to let our four major Buddhist sects abandon Buddhas and choose Taoist sects?"

As soon as these words came out, the entire hall suddenly became quiet.

Li Xuandu raised his head with his hands behind his back and looked at the gilded Buddha, and suddenly felt that things became interesting.

Obviously, the people behind the scenes were very clever. First, they incited the people, forcing them to change the venue for discussion from Qianjia Villa to Dabaoen Temple. Now, a Buddhist disciple has to re-report the difference between Buddhism and Taoism in front of the Buddha. It is amazing. Such a deliberate intention is considered a good thing.

Li Xuan didn't speak, Zhang Jingxiu didn't speak, and the two protagonists today didn't speak, and the others couldn't speak rashly, so they could only keep silent as everything went on. But their eyes fell on Yuanjue, not to say that it was a thousand pounds. The eyes of so many people added up, and there were still thousands of pounds, which was enough to crush the courageous person. However, Yuanjue was not aware of it, and still put his palms together, his upper body leaned forward slightly, and his expression was extremely respectful on his face. It seemed that he was a respectful junior who asked his senior for advice.

After a moment, the great master Zhang Jingxiu broke the silence, "Everyone knows that Taoist ancestors become Buddhas, Buddha is originally Tao, and two families are one family."

The "Hu Sutra" is widely circulated in the world. Neither Taoist nor Buddhism has publicly denied the "Hu Sutra". If it is according to the "Hu Sutra", the Taishang Taoist ancestor went west to Hua Hu after leaving three thousand words of morality, thus establishing the Western religion. There are three-time Buddhas in Buddhism. The Buddha is only the present Buddha, as well as the future Buddha and the past Buddha. If it is said that the Taishang Taoist ancestor was the Buddha's past teacher, it is reasonable. The Great Heavenly Master may not be completely correct in response to the Taoist ancestor Hua Hu's statement at this time, and it cannot be said that it is wrong.

Yuanjue did not deny the great master's statement, but asked again: "Since Buddha is the Tao, why do you have to force the three religions? Isn't it better to directly call Confucianism and Taoism?"

Hearing this, Li Xuandu finally withdrew his gaze from the Buddha, looked at the young monk, and said, "It's a pity that old deposed Lanling is so sad. I want to understand the time when I wrote a book. A word of evil nature becomes a mistake, but the readers are just a small flaw."

As soon as this said, everyone's eyes turned to Li Xuandu again. Yuanjue also looked at Li Xuandu and said together: "I wonder what this poem by Master Li means?"

Li Xuandu asked, "Who is this poem talking about? Do you know?"

Before Yuanjue's answer, Qian Qingbai had already replied: "This is a poem from the previous dynasty, talking about the ancient Confucian sage Xunqing."

"That's right." Li Xuandu said: "The sage said: 'Natures are similar.' The sage admitted that human nature is, but did not say what human nature is. The sage said: 'Human nature is good. Water believes that there is no distinction between the east and the west, and no division between the upper and lower parts? The goodness of human nature is just like water being down. No one is bad, and water being down.' But just after the sage, Xun Qing proposed that human nature is inherently evil. Xun Qing said: 'The evil nature of human beings is false.' It can be seen that there are various differences among the Confucian sects. Later, Xun Qing's disciples founded the Legalists, and Zulong used the Legalists to unify the world. Let me ask, what is the relationship between the Legalists and the Confucian sects? Should Confucianism be separated from the Legalists?"

Yuanjue was stunned, and after thinking about it, he had to answer: "It should be separated."

When Zhang Jingxiu saw Li Xuandu answering this, he couldn't help but feel relieved. Seeing that Li Xuandu quoted scriptures, Qin Su stopped Yuanjue in a few words, and was excited unconsciously looking at Li Xuandu with admiration.

Li Xuandu still looked at Yuanjue and continued, "Since Confucianism and Legalism should be separated, should Taoism and Buddhism be separated?"

Yuanjue was silent, and after a long time he said, "I should separate."

Li Xuandu said: "Since Zulong, all dynasties have been Confucianism outside and internal law. That is, they are advocated on the surface, but in fact, they rely on the Legalists' thoughts, which often combine Confucianism and Law, and complement each other. Confucianism and ethics are the two major means of emperors throughout the ages, and are also important causes of the external Confucianism inside. Generally speaking, Confucianism emphasizes benevolent politics and ethical persuasion, while Legalists emphasize the legal system, focusing on the merits and the mixed ones, and it is already difficult to distinguish one another. Therefore, today's Confucianism still respects Xun Qing as a sage. From this point of view, the Taoist sect and Buddhism have the same principles, just like the Buddhist Guanyin Bodhisattva is the Taoist Cihang True Man, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is the Samantabhadra True Manjushri Tianzun, the Three Pure Ones, Four Victories and Five Elders, Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva are among the five elders, and it is already difficult to distinguish one another. Therefore, Buddha is the Tao."

Cold sweat oozed from Yuanjue's forehead. Although he knew that Li Xuan was suspected of being sophist, in a short period of time, he had no idea how to refute Li Xuandu.

Li Xuandu said: "The saint of the mind-study that time once proposed the unity of the three religions. After tracing the root, Buddhism was first attached to the Taoist sect after it was introduced, and then it was attached to the Confucian sect. It was not until hundreds of years later that Buddhism gradually became a family. Buddhist disciples used the two schools of Confucianism and Taoism to explain Buddhism. The debate on the "six schools and seven sects" that appeared within Buddhism came from this. But Confucian sects wanted to escape from Zen, which clearly marked the clear boundary with Buddhism. So what's wrong with saying that Buddhism belongs to Taoism?"

Yuanjue is speechless.

"The so-called distinction between Buddhism and Taoism is just a gateway view. It is also necessary to call the Xuanmen in one combination. Among the fifteen sects mentioned by the Great Heavenly Master today, eleven are Taoist sects, and even the seven sects with great sins and evil are also Taoist sects. Taoist sects occupy the vast majority. What's wrong with calling Taoist sect? Do you have to change to Buddhism to satisfy the Zen master?" Li Xuandu's tone gradually became sharp.

Yuanjue was shocked and said repeatedly: "Disciple must not dare to have such an idea. The disciple just was puzzled, so he asked the Great Master and Master Li for advice."

Li Xuan looked at him and asked, "Do you understand now?"

The back of Yuanjue monk's robe was already covered with cold sweat, and his forehead was covered with sweat beads. He didn't dare to debate with Li Xuandu anymore, nodded and said, "I understand, I understand, it's the little monk who asked inappropriately. Thank you Master Li for answering the questions and answering questions."

Qin Su couldn't help but smile when he saw this. No wonder Master Di said that Li Xuan has the potential of a master. Not only is he good at being a teacher, but his sophistry skills should not be underestimated.

Li Xuandu looked at Wuzhen and Bai Xiushang again, "I wonder what the two seniors think?"

Bai Xiushang smiled slightly and nodded, "What Zifu said is very true."

Wuzhen also recited the Buddha's name, "Zengzhu Li entered the country."
