1. Booty

(This is the story of the brave and the daughter of the devil in another world line, and it has nothing to do with the main plot except the identities of the two)

It was noon, and the sun shone the entire capital into scorched earth. The cicadas kept shouting on the tired branches of leaves. The harsh sound made people dizzy under the scorching sun, and they wanted to kill all these annoying insects in one breath, but in the end they could only curse themselves in their hearts.

There were three or two soldiers standing there listlessly, holding their shoulders and holding their weapons casually, trying to curl themselves into the shadow as big as a palm. However, even standing in the shadow, it could not stop the erosion of heat waves. Occasionally, they would try to hide in the shadows and not come out. Whenever they saw pedestrians who needed to come out to check, the soldiers would immediately become inexplicably irritable.

However, it is a war period, and only a few people do not need to be inspected. Fortunately, it is the capital of a country and the rear area with little danger. Even if the devil's army drove straight in without any obstacles, it would take a whole day to get here. Therefore, even though the soldiers neglected their duties, there was no major problem.

It was at this time that the brave man drove a carriage to the gate of the imperial capital. He was wearing a ripped ordinary adventurer suit, sweat mixed with dust, and his whole body looked like he had just rolled out in the mud. His beard, which had not been shaved for half a month, made him look forty-two years old, and although he was covered in dust, his hands were extremely clean and he held the reins firmly and strongly.

Although it was covered in dust, the brave man had a cheerful smile on his face and his eyes were bright and full of strength and vitality, making people feel his extraordinaryness at a glance.

When he arrived at the city gate, the brave man was stopped by the soldiers: "Even the soldiers guarding the city in the imperial capital have been replaced. It seems that the situation behind him is also very serious."

"Open the car." The soldiers impatiently instructed the brave, the scorching sun burned their patience, prompting them to constantly urge every person entering the city with a bad attitude.

The brave man nodded with a smile and lifted the curtain hanging on the car door.

"Human traffickers!" The soldiers suddenly pulled out their weapons and surrounded the brave men.

Inside the car was an iron cage made of fine steel, and in the cage was a little girl who looked about ten years old. The girl curled up in the innermost corner of the cage, lowering her head and motionless. Even if she felt the sunlight shining in, she just moved her body slightly, allowing herself to try her best to get the farthest away from the sun.

Because her long black hair was lowered, no one could tell how she looked, but her white skin was like lotus root and her family was in a good place. In this war-torn era, she could naturally be either rich or noble. The girl's slender arms hugged her legs tightly, as cute and pitiful as if she was in a dangerous cat.

"Don't!" The brave man raised his hand and signaled that he had no idea of resisting. He knew very well what would happen if he opened the curtain of the car. In fact, he was looking forward to what would happen next.

"I'm not a human trafficker, I'm a brave man. You newcomers may not recognize me, but if you call people who were on duty here three years ago, you will know that I'm not lying."

Of course, the words of the brave man could not be believed by the soldiers who did not recognize him. The soldiers discussed it and one person left to ask someone for advice. The remaining soldiers held their weapons and pointed them at him: "You said you are a brave man? Who believes it! Tell me what do you do if you, a brave man, don't attack the devil king?"

"The Demon King is dead. I have killed the Demon King. Now I am back to report to the king." The brave man had a confident smile on his face. He was surprised and admired when the soldiers learned the truth. "I have set off for the trip day and night by myself. Your military newspaper should be able to be sent back in the evening. Then you will know that what I am telling is not a lie."

"Even if you are not telling a lie, we cannot let people like you enter the city without reliable information, let alone you look like a personal trafficker!" The smile on the brave man's face was too confident that the soldiers were afraid to take him down. If he was really a brave man, then he would definitely be a promotion to be promoted and rewarded. What if he remembered the difficult things at this time, he turned around and turned to revenge?

"She is not a child who was abducted by me, she is my trophy." The brave man slowly put down his hand and pointed at the girl, "Did you see what she is holding?"

The soldiers looked closely and found that the girl was not just curled up in the corner. She was holding a dark and thick thing in her arms, just because it was too dark just now, everyone just took a casual look so they didn't notice it.

"What is that?"

"That is the horn of the devil's king, the horn formed by the magic power of the devil's king, and this horn can only be taken down by the person who killed him." The brave man said proudly. He does have the capital to be proud. If he can kill the demon king who has caused the entire continent to fall into war, then there will probably be no one in the world who dares to be proud.

"Then is your trophy that horn or that girl?" the soldiers said suspiciously.

"Of course it's all..."

"Hey, kid, are you okay?" Hearing the brave man's answer, the soldiers immediately shouted to the girl, "Don't be afraid, we are here, don't dare to do anything to you, are you being held hostage by him?"

"I said it was not from my abduct." The brave man rolled his eyes helplessly, "Don't work hard, she won't answer you, she won't speak human words at all."

As the brave said, the girl curled up in the corner and turned a deaf ear to the soldiers' words. It would be better to say that she was talking a little weird now. After all, they had been talking here for a long time, but she had never spoken. If she wanted to speak for help, it would be enough, and there was no need to wait until the soldiers took the initiative to ask.

"Did you use any magic on her to limit her speech?"

"No, she didn't speak humanly."

The soldiers were about to ask again, but they saw that the soldier who had left before came back with his boss. The usually serious boss changed his face when he saw the brave man. He ran over quickly and shouted, "Sir, are you back?"

"Oh, isn't this Kelt? Have you become the captain?" The brave man greeted Captain Kelt with a smile.

"This is not a tense war. Many people in the city guards have been transferred to the front line. I was just unlucky and were not selected to stay, so I replaced the original captain." Kelt explained while signaling the soldiers to retreat, "Why are you back at this time, Lord Brave? Could it be..."

"Yes, I have killed the Demon King." The brave man replied with a smile, and then, as expected, saw the expression he wanted to see from Captain Kelt.

"That's great. Your Majesty the King will be very happy to know this news!" Captain Kelt couldn't help shouting excitedly.

"Captain, in his carriage..." The soldier on the side reminded in a low voice. Although he was confirmed to be a brave man, no one said that a brave man must be a gentleman, and cannot be a hooligan who can cheat. After all, a brave man is just a title for those who are brave enough to attack the devil alone, rather than referring to those upright and brave people.

"Sir, is this..." Captain Kelt, who was reminded by his subordinates, then discovered the girl in the carriage.

"This is my spoil, and I will hand it over to His Majesty the King later." The brave man explained briefly.

"Is it to be dedicated to His Majesty the King?" Captain Kelt hesitated a little. He didn't know whether he should stop the brave. After all, His Majesty the King does not have such a hobby.

"That's right, don't talk too much. Since you're here, don't let them block the way. I'll go to the city to see His Majesty the King and tell everyone the good news that the Demon King is dead." The brave man was tired of continuing to explain under the scorching sun. He drove the carriage into the city, and until he disappeared on the corner of the street, Captain Kelt did not decide whether to stop him from offering his young daughter to His Majesty the King.
