Chapter 8 Takahashi

Ami Nakano glanced out the window and said that the snow that fell last night had stopped before noon.

She looked at her watch and it was already 1:20 pm. She picked up a telegram and a file bag, walked out of the translator room, and walked towards Ryuichi Takahashi at the end of the corridor.

Ryuichi Takahashi, a senior telecommunication expert at the Telecommunications Office of the Japanese Army Command in Harbin, is good at deciphering codes and is also responsible for compiling passwords. He is the most authoritative here. A year ago, in order to deal with the increasingly active underground resistance organization, Major General Tachiyama Yusuke, the head of the K-in-chief of the Kwantung Army, finally dug Takahashi from the Kwantung Army headquarters.

The underground party organization headed by "Guyu", the Military Control Commission Binjiang Workstation headed by "Lao K" and the Soviet Far East Intelligence Station headed by "Father" are the three major concerns of the Japanese army in Harbin. Therefore, Guyu, Lao K and Father are also known as the three giants of the Harbin resistance. Their existence made the Japanese army unable to sleep or eat.

After Matsumoto took office as the head of Harbin Special High School, he successively cracked down on the underground organizations of the underground party and the Military Control Commission in less than a year, and dealt a heavy blow to the underground resistance forces in Harbin. In addition to Matsumoto's craftsmanship, Ryuichi Takahashi's code deciphering also made great contributions. The codes of the underground party and the Binjiang Workstation were deciphered by him one after another, and he obtained a large amount of valuable information.

The underground party was severely damaged, and the leader Guyu died. Only after the new leader took office did the recovery gradually; the Military Control Commission's Binjiang Workstation has not yet recovered; the Soviet Far East Intelligence Station has escaped due to the advance response measures. Although it has also lost many people, it has not yet been damaged.

Ryuichi Takahashi used his strengths to make Harbin Telecommunications Office one of the strongest translator centers in the three northeastern provinces, and could even be compared with the translator center of the Kwantung Army headquarters.

Nowadays, the Telecommunications Office of the Japanese Army Command in Harbin has four telegrams: the Telephone 1 is responsible for detecting underground party telegrams, the Telephone 2 is responsible for detecting underground party telegrams, the Telephone 3 is responsible for deciphering telegrams from the Kuomintang underground organizations, the Telephone 3 is responsible for deciphering telegrams from Soviet spy agencies, and the Telephone 4 is responsible for monitoring radio stations that appear in private or commercial terms, including radio stations of foreigners in Harbin. Therefore, the Telephone 4 is also called the International Commercial Room.

All these departments were established under the guidance of Ryuichi Takahashi and were all under his responsibility.

Ryuichi Takahashi is not only responsible for the telecommunications translation work of the entire telecommunications office, but also responsible for the code compilation of the entire headquarters. There are more than a dozen sets of passwords often used in the Japanese Army Command in Harbin, and each department has its own set of passwords. These passwords are replaced by new passwords in a short period of three months at most. Therefore, the workload of password compilation is very large.

Not to mention those passwords specially used by senior generals and secret agents and undercover agents. Because they are not used so frequently, these passwords have a longer service life, but they are more complicated to compile and have a higher degree of confidentiality. Moreover, almost every undercover has a set of separate passwords, so the workload of compiling advanced passwords is not small at all.

The Cryptography Department of the Telecommunications Department has two coding rooms, one of which is specifically responsible for preparing advanced passwords, and all of them are also responsible for Ryuichi Takahashi. The person responsible for preparing advanced passwords can only be responsible for preparing some of them. No one can get a glimpse of the whole picture of the entire set of passwords, and the synthesis and encryption are performed by Ryuichi Takahashi himself. It can be said that in addition to the users of these passwords, Ryuichi Takahashi is the only insider.

Takahashi Ryuki was also the director of the two departments of translator and cryptography, and was also the deputy director of the Telecommunications Department. It is not an exaggeration to say that he is the brain of the entire Telecommunications Department of the Japanese Harbin Command. Because of this, the Telecommunications Department provided him with the largest and best light office for use.

Takahashi's office is located at the end of the Telecommunications Office corridor, facing the corridor. Other offices are arranged on both sides of the corridor, that is, on both sides of Takahashi's office, which symbolizes his central position here. Even the Office of Fujiwara, the Director of the Telecommunications Office, can only beside Takahashi's office.

Ryuichi Takahashi is a technical maniac. Whether it is translating or coding, for him, it is more of an interest than a job. He always treats his work with a fanatical spirit. He often locks himself in the office alone, staying alone for most of the day and working all night is also common.

Originally, Fujiwara wanted to equip him with two secretaries, one for the subject, but was rejected by Takahashi. In the end, he chose Ami Nakano as his secretary. What he was interested in was not Ami Nakano's administrative talent, but her telecommunications translation talent, and only technical talents could enter his eyes.

Therefore, Ami Nakano became his only secretary and assistant, and all the telegrams were handed over to Takahashi through her. Ami Nakano also participated in the translation work of telecommunications. There were five experts in the translation room, and Ami Nakano was one of them.

Like most of these technical geniuses, except for being outstanding in their profession, Takahashi is very simple in other aspects: he knows little about human nature; he hates flattery; he knows nothing about intrigue.

Since he is the absolute technical authority of the Telecommunications Office, everyone here is afraid of him, so he has no friends here. Ami Nakano is one of the few people who can get close to him, but he is not a friend, he is just a superior and subordinate relationship.

Even outside the telecommunications office, he didn't have many friends, and most of these few friends were his fellow villagers or classmates. However, what surprised everyone was that the person who walked with him most frequently was the gendarmerie captain Hiro Inaki.

Hiro Inukai is tall and big, with a straight eyebrows and a fierce look on his face. This person is known for his cruelty and murderous people. He is a person who makes people get numb when they call him a name in Harbin. Such a guy, both on the outside and inside, is completely from two different worlds with Ryuichi Takahashi, but I don’t know why the two are often together.

It is said that Hiro Inaki is a fellow villager of Ryuichi Takahashi and is from the same village.

As soon as he started work this afternoon, Hiroshi Inukai brought two military police to the telecommunications office. He asked the two military police to stand at the door and guard him. He and Takahashi entered the office. The two closed the door and didn't know what to talk about inside.

Every time Hiro Inukai comes to see Takahashi, he is alone, and this is the first time he brings the military police. However, this is the headquarters, and people from the Telecommunications Office have seen any scenes, so they don’t find it very strange.

Nakano Yami walked out of the Translation Room and saw that the door of Takahashi's office was still closed. Two live-fire gendarmes stood at the door. She couldn't help but feel nervous.

When she first started working in the afternoon, she came here once and wanted to send information to Takahashi. At that time, Takahashi Ryuichi asked her to come back later.

Later, a telegram was sent. Because it was not an urgent telegram, Ami Nakano decided to send it later. However, after waiting for seven or eight minutes, Hiroshi Inukai had not come out. Ryuichi Takahashi was a very strict person. The telegram he had to be delivered in time. The delay would make him angry. Ami Nakano decided not to wait anymore and send the telegram now.

She came to the door and told the two gendarmeries that Takahashi wanted her to come. The two gendarmeries did not speak, but just nodded.

Ami Nakano knocked on the door, but there was no reaction inside. She turned the handle and found that the door was locked from the inside. She knocked on the door again and waited for a while. There was still no movement inside.

She knocked on the door again and said loudly: "Secretary Takahashi, I am Ami Nakano, can I go in?"

There is still no movement inside.

Nakano Yami no longer hesitated and took out the key.

As Takahashi's assistant, she is the only person except Takahashi Ryuichi, who has the keys to this office.

Surprisingly, the key was just inserted into the keyhole and the door opened before it could be turned.

The military captain Inukai Hiro stood at the door. However, his expression was a little weird, and he seemed to be confused by something, and his eyes were a little dull.

Hiro Inaki looked at Ami Nakano and seemed to not know her anymore.

"Inukaikun, what happened?" Ami Nakano, who was standing at the door, asked in surprise.

Hiro Inukai still had that dull expression, pointed at it and said, "It seems... something happened."

Nakano Ami quickly walked around him and ran inside, and the scene in front of her surprised her.

She saw Takahashi Ryuichi lying on the sofa in a strange position, tilting his head, wide open his eyes, his face turned blue, and his whole body looked hard, as if he was frozen.

"Takahashi, what happened?" Nakano Ami shouted.

She jogged forward slowly and found that Takahashi Ryuki was motionless, as if he hadn't heard her at all. His eyes were staring at the ceiling and his mouth was half open.

Suddenly, Ami Nakano realized that Ryuichi Takahashi was dead.

She screamed subconsciously.
