Chapter 8 The New Training Base

The team's transfer work has been completed, and the club's reorganization work has been under the responsibility of three general managers, Poirot, Kenion and Antonioni. Zhuang Mingge, who has been idle, is preparing to implement a plan that is conducive to the future development of Florence - to build a private training base belonging to the club.

Most teams in Italy do not have their own training bases, and most of them rent existing local training facilities.

Think about it, if a team does not have its own training base, they can only find some places to rent for training every year. Doing so will first consume a lot of money and energy from the club. At the same time, the environment of these loaned training bases is also very bad. Players often experience various accidents when training in this environment for a long time.

Even if the team wants to spend money to transform the training base on its own, it is impossible, because this training base is not a private property of Florence and the club does not have the right to transform it.

If Florence has its own training base, the situation will be completely different. If the club's venue does not meet its own requirements, the club can also invest additional investment to further improve the training base. At the same time, the club will also save a lot of rental costs. Even if the saved money is completely invested in the daily maintenance of the new base, it is much more cost-effective than renting old and broken venues.

Therefore, when Zhuang Mingge first took office as the club chairman, he sent Hercred Poirot to the outskirts of Florence to find a piece of land suitable for building a training base. Poirot quickly responded: a piece of abandoned land that was once an industrial area was sold at a low price, and government officials had agreed to Poirot's proposal to transform the abandoned site into a training base. It would cost about 8 million US dollars to buy the land and initial construction. So Zhuang Mingge happily transferred the funds from the 20 million funds allocated by the family.

Zhuang Mingge did not immediately transfer all the 20 million US dollars provided by the family into the club's account, but instead ordered Poirot to report to him to use the funds only when there is a shortage of funds within the club or if there is an urgent need.

After all, for a time traveler, the biggest advantage is to know the direction of the future world. If $20 million is sent to the club so easily, it will lose a lot of opportunities to make money...

So far, the fund has only spent $8 million on building a training base.

Antonioni, who was in charge of the team's daily affairs, drove to this abandoned industrial area on the outskirts of Florence. The land has been purchased by the club and is now being renovated by a special construction company according to the club's requirements, striving to complete it within one year.

After getting off the car, looking around, there were construction sites in front of me. Workers from construction companies were demolishing the factories of various factories that were originally standing in this industrial area. Some necessary construction machinery had already been opened into these construction sites.

"According to the original plan, the new training base will include two major areas, including 4 first-team special venues and 4 backup venues. These venues will be classified as a separate area and are the main body of the entire training base. Next to these venues is the Florence Experimental Center we plan to build. The experimental center is located in the center of the entire training base and is mainly composed of three departments, namely the health care center responsible for regulating the physiological and psychological state of the players; the information center is responsible for establishing a database with detailed information and timely updates of player data; the last one is a computer center responsible for analyzing the player data and making effective predictions based on the analysis of the data." Antonioni gave a detailed introduction to his boss based on the drawings he received.

"The coach's office area is next to the first team's venue, mainly including tactical conference rooms, data rooms and other coach-specific rooms. The head coach's office will not be far from the training ground. We must ensure that the team's head coach can directly see the players' training situation on the training ground from that room; the area also includes canteens and entertainment venues, such as indoor football fields, billiards rooms, and video game rooms; at the same time, some functions of the health center are also placed in the office area, such as the massage room, locker room, and bathroom used by players. The design of these places must be approved by the health center experts, and the health of the players can also be guaranteed to the greatest extent."

Antonioni clearly remembers how bad the training base he used when he played football was: the locker room was air-ventilated, the training ground was like a rotten vegetable field, the team hired only a few team doctors, and the level of professionalism was very limited, and some players could not receive timely massage and recovery. The most typical example is himself. The most serious injury in his career occurred in the 1981-82 season. In a game against the top, the opponent's goalkeeper Martina hit his head, causing internal bleeding, skull rupture, and his heart stopped beating for half a minute!

Fortunately, Antonioni survived and continued his glorious football career, but this serious injury caused his competitive state to decline; then in the 1982 World Cup Italy vs. Poland, his injured leg hit the goal post, which directly led to his absence from the World Cup final. At the same time, his national team appearance record came to an abrupt end. He was only 28 years old at the time.

Antonioni felt this training base that was completely different from the one I remembered, and sighed, "If Florence had these facilities when I was playing football, my career would definitely not be just 15 years."

"Gancarlo, don't be so sad." Zhuang Mingge saw that Antonioni's mood was a little depressed and hurriedly led the topic to a happy place. "Think about it, the club has now built a top training base. These Fiorentine players train under the best conditions to effectively improve their competitive level, and at the same time enhance the players' sense of belonging to the club. Fiorentine has always been a place where loyal ministers are made, so we cannot let players loyal to the club suffer; Gancarlo, another area is the venue used by the club's youth training echelons, right?"

Zhuang Mingge successfully diverted Antonioni's attention: "Yes, according to the existing tier division standards in Florence, we built it with the standards of two fields per team. However, the most important youth team under 20 years old has 3 fields, and youth teams under 16 years old and youth teams at all levels are standard equipment."

“Similarly, a separate building will be built next to the youth team’s grounds with the same health care facilities as the first team.”

When designing the training base, Zhuang Mingge insisted that a large number of trees separate the youth training ground from the first team, leaving only a small path in the middle to communicate. In this way, when the head coach raises the young players to go to the first team for training, the players will cherish the opportunity to train with the first team.

The construction of the training base also includes players' dormitories for youth team players and players' villas for some first-team players who have no money to buy houses in Fiorentina. Accommodation fees are free, but other fees are required to be paid out for the players themselves.
