Chapter 767(1/3)
"Save your humor, Criel," Presto said, turning back and closing the heavy iron door behind him. In the small room his master, King Terenas, gave him, Presto specially designated some guards to prevent the visits of some unknown persons. He issued a death order, no matter what happened in the basement, as long as he was disturbed, they would kill them.
Presto did not want to be disturbed. He believed that the servants should not dare to slack off in front of the wēixié of life. A magic that was imposed on the king and the officials made everyone have no other thoughts about him, an active exiled nobleman. He kept the effect of this magic at all times.
"Show my most terrifying apology, Mr. Prince!" The thin and small guy in front of him shouted loudly. His voice was sharp and noisy, not like a human, but this is not surprising. Presto's companion was originally a goblin.
His head was almost the same as the buckles of the nobles, and some might think that these little green things were innocent and weak creatures. However, when they opened their mouths and laughed, they showed their sharp teeth and blood-red tongues. Their excitement often came from separating the wings of insects and birds or other limbs from their bodies. A raised ridge-like dark brown fur stretched from the neck of the ugly creature to their foreheads.
"However, it's still worth celebrating." This low-high house used to be a storage room. It turned out to be very cold and suitable for storing red wine. However, thanks to a small engineer under Criel, the temperature here is now like the center of an erupting volcano.
But for Presto, it's like going home.
"What to celebrate, a successful scam?" Criel smiled. Criel often laughed like this, especially when planning an evil conspiracy. The green creature is most keen on in addition to experimenting and murdering others. For him, these two things are always carried out at the same time whenever possible. In fact, the second half of the room is filled with benches, flasks, powder, strange-shaped machinery and various creepy collections.
"It's to celebrate, Criel." Preisto stared at the goblin with sharp black eyes, who immediately put away all smiles and mocking expressions. "You probably want to celebrate together, right?"
“Yes, Master.”
The noble in military uniform breathed deeply the stuffy air. After a while, a hint of ease appeared on his angular face. "Yeah, it's really nostalgic..." His expression became firm again. "But I have to wait, wait for the best opportunity. What do you think, Criel?"
"You are right. Master."
The smile returned to Presto's face. "You should know that the person in front of you is the next king of Ultratown."
The goblin bowed to the ground, and his thin but not weak body bent into a big bow shape. "I pay my highest respect to you, Guo..."
Suddenly, a strange sound came from the right side, and the two turned to look. A goblin who was thinner than Criel emerged from a metal fireplace connected to the external vent. He jumped to the ground very quickly and ran to Criel. The little thing had an extremely funny face, which seemed a little unnatural under the eyes of Presto.
He whispered a few words beside Criel's sharp and big ears. Crielne whispered twice. Then he waved his hand to ask him to retreat first. The little goblin crawled back and disappeared into the fireplace.
"What happened?" Although the noble's tone sounded calm and calm, he obviously hoped to get the answer from the goblin immediately.
"Ah, respected master," the smile returned to the ugly face of the goblin. "It seems lucky to be with you. I think or you can consider going to a place to bet a few times? It feels really like being a star."
"What happened?"
"Some people...some people try to liberate Alextasa..."
Presto looked at Criel again. He stared at him for a long time, and the goblin immediately became weak under Presto's gaze. Even this time he felt that the god of death was so close. It was so regretful. There were still many experiments that had not been done, and many explosives had not been tested...
Suddenly, the tall nobleman in black burst into laughter. What was different from normal people was that his laughter was low and depressing.
"Great..." Lord Presto expressed his excitement. He stretched out his hands as if to grab the air in front of him. His fingers were extremely long and looked more like claws. "Great!"
He continued to smile, and Criel finally breathed a sigh of relief. He looked at the lord with surprise, his eyes slightly turning.
"They all said I was a lunatic," the goblin muttered in a voice that he could only hear.
The whole world became full of flames.
Wen Leisa cursed, and she and the mage were dispersed, in the hell that the crimson behemoth suddenly exhaled. If Ronin had not delayed and started their journey on time, none of this would have happened. They would have arrived in Hask now, and she would have left his team. And the situation now seems very likely to make both of them lose their lives...
She had known for a long time that the orcs of Kazmodan were still temporarily sending dragon knights to other peaceful lands occupied by their enemies to spread horror, but why would she and her companions be discovered alone and encounter such disasters? The number of dragon knights is smaller these days, and Lordaeron's land is so vast.
She glanced at Luo Ning, and he had fallen deep into the woods. Of course, she had to endure the fact that her companion was a mage. The dragon clan felt far higher than other races (even elves); some people believed that dragons could break through limits and even smell magic. In any case, the original plan changed now led to heavy losses, which was of course the mage's fault. The orc and his dragon must have come for Luo Ning.
Luo Ning was obviously thinking about the same thing, he quickly left her sight and was cast towards the woods in the opposite direction of her. The ranger snorted. The mage never performed well on the front line of war; mages could easily attack at some distance or face their enemies with their backs, but when they had to face an enemy head-on...
And, when the enemy they face is a dragon.
The dragon turned to the disappearing human. No matter what prejudice she had against Ronin, Wenleza didn't want to see the mage die. However, looking around, the silver-haired Ranger saw nothing that could help her. Her mount was eaten with his, along with the bow she loved. All she left was her sword. It could not be called a weapon when used against such a violent behemoth. Wenleza looked around and looked for something else she could use, but there was no suitable one.
There is only a short time left to make her choice. As a ranger, she can't even let a mage get hurt if she can help him. The only thing Wenleza has to do is to save Ronin's life as much as she can.
The elf jumped out of her hiding place and waved her hand into the air. He shouted, "Here! Here, you bastard! Here!"
However, the dragon did not hear her cry, and he finally judged that it was a dragon that focused on the burning woods beneath him. In that hellish place, Ronin was struggling to survive. The dragon was searching for him to confirm that the mage did not do that.
While shouting, the Elf Warrior looked around and found a heavy stone. For a human, what she was going to do was impossible, but for her, there was still a little possibility. Wenleza only hoped that her arms would still have the strength as they were a few years ago. She threw the stone directly at the head of the crimson behemoth.
She was a distance from the dragon, but the dragon suddenly moved. A moment later the stone did not hit the target that Wenleza expected. However, although it did not hit the head, it bounced back and hit the webbed wings on the left. Wenleza didn't even expect it to hurt the giant beast. The stone was just a ridiculous weapon for the dragon's scales. She just hoped to attract the attention of the giant.
She did it.
The strong head immediately turned to the direction she was, and the dragon roared in anger at this interruption. The orc shouted some difficult words on his mount.
The powerful winged guy suddenly turned and swooped straight towards her. She managed to pull the dragon's attention away from the unlucky mage.
What should I do now? The Ranger cursed himself.
The elf turned and ran away, although she knew she had no chance to exceed the speed of the terrifying chaser behind her.
The treetops above her quickly burst out flames, as if they were painted with a color by a dragon. The burning branches fell down in front of her, cutting off the path of Wenleza's advance to escape. Without hesitation, Wenleza turned to the left and drilled into the bushes that had not yet become part of hell.
You are about to die! She warned herself that it was all for that useless mage!
A deafening roar made her look back. The Red Dragon had already caught up with her. And now there was even a claw stretching down to catch the runaway Ranger. Wenleza imagined that the claw was crushing her, or worse, dragging him into the creepy stomach of the behemoth, she would be chewed or swallowed all over.
However, just as death was only a few inches away from her, the dragon suddenly withdrew his claws and wriggled in the air. The claws were leaning towards him. In fact, each claw was trying to grab somewhere, as if the giant beast was enduring an incredible itch. On his top, the orc tried his best to adjust. But he could only disturb the dragon like a strange flea, even though the giant beast obeyed him.
Wenleza stopped and stared at the dragon, nothing could explain all the surprising things in front of her. The dragon twisted and whirled, as if he wanted to try to relieve his pain, and his movements became more and more crazy. His orc commander was almost falling off. The elves wanted to know what could make this monster like this
The answer was as light as a whisper. "Roning?"
As if his name could summon him like a ghost, the mage stood in front of her. His flame-like hair was scattered, and his dark robe became muddy and ragged, but he seemed not scared at all by what he had experienced so far.
"I think we'd better get out of here as soon as possible, eh, elf?"
She didn't need him to remind him again. This time, Ronin led the way. He used some skills and magical abilities to guide them to the burning forest. As a ranger, Wenleza could not do more. Ronin led her along a trail, and the elves could not even see the trail until they passed.
From beginning to end, the dragon glided on his head and teared his skin. Wenleza glanced upwards and saw that he even wanted to suck his blood. His claws were tearing his armored skin as one of the few things that could be used. As for the orc, she found no trace; all signs showed that the warrior with sharp fangs had lost control and fell down. Wenleza had no mercy on him.
"What did you do to that dragon?" she asked panting.
Luo Ning made up her mind to find the end of this sea of fire, and did not even look back at her. "The road I planned in advance was not cleared! The dragon must endure stronger anger!"
Luo Ning seemed to be quarreling with him, but the Ranger discovered for the first time that he had left a deep impression on him. He seemed to have made a sure death situation safe if they could find a way out.
Behind them, the dragon roared, venting its frustration.
"How long can this spell last?"
Now he finally stopped to look at her, and the gaze she saw made her feel deeply disappointed. "It's about to end..."
They tasted the result immediately. No matter which side they turned, the fire surrounded them, but in the end they only hit the edge of the flames. After crossing the sea of fire, they found a place where only choking smoke could hurt them. The two breathed hard, stumbled, looking for a way that could allow the wind to blow from the front, thereby slowing down the chasing of flames and smoke behind them.
Then they heard a roar that made them tremble, and there was no pain in the roar. Instead, it was filled with rage and hatred. The mage and the ranger turned around and glanced at the crimson guy in the distance.
"The power of the spell has disappeared," Ronin murmured unnecessarily. The spell has indeed disappeared, and Wenleza has noticed that the dragon has correctly known who should be responsible for his pain. The dragon is rushing towards them accurately on its strong and tough wings, undoubtedly trying to make them pay a heavy price.
"Do you have other spells to deal with him?" Wenleza shouted as they ran away.
"Maybe! But I would rather not use it here! The dragon will capture us along with that spell!"
It seemed like the dragon wouldn't do that anyway. The elves hoped that Ronin would find a way to cast his deadly spell before they turned into the delicacy of the giant beast.
"How far is it?" The mage almost couldn't relieve himself. "How far is it from Hask?"
“Too far.”
“Are there other camps in the league from here to there?”
She tried to think about it. There was a place that was remembered, but she couldn't remember its name and direction. She only remembered that place was a day away from it. "It seemed like there was a place, but"
The dragon's roar made them tremble again. A shadow passed through their heads.
"If you have any spells to use, I suggest you use them now." Wenleza remembered her bow again. With it, she had at least a little success to aim at the dragon's eyes. The blow and pain of shooting the eyes might be enough to send the monster away.
They almost collided, and when Ronin suddenly stopped and was about to face the terrible wēixié. He held her arms with a pair of surprisingly strong hands for a mage and moved the ranger aside. His eyes were flashing, and Wenleza heard that this would only happen when a powerful mage casts spells, which she had never seen before.
His arms were straight upward, pointing his fingers in the direction of the Red Dragon.
He began to murmur, in a language that Wenleza didn't recognize, but for some reason it made her spine tremble up and down.
Luo Ning gathered his hands together and prepared to read them again
There are three winged things coming through the clouds.
Wenleza took a breath, and the tall mage held his tongue and stopped the spell. He began to curse God, but the elves immediately discovered that the things were just coming to their terrible enemies.
Griffon...strong, eagle head, lion's body, griffon with wings...and the knights riding on it...
She pulled Ronin's arm hard. "Don't do anything!"
He glared at her, but nodded. They both stared at the dragon that filled their vision together.
The three griffins suddenly attacked the dragon, and the dragon looked back in surprise. Now Wenleza could see the knights clearly. In the distant Eagle Nest Mountain, a legendary, even more mountainous than the elves of Quelthalas, only dwarves from there could ride these barbaric griffins... and only these well-trained warriors and their mounts could face the dragon head-on in the air.
Although much smaller than that red giant beast, griffons can use huge, sharp claws that can tear open the claws of dragon scales and beaks that can peck into the muscles to make up for the gap in body shape. In the sky, they can move more quickly and flexibly, turning at an angle that dragons cannot compare to.
The dwarves did not simply control their mounts. Compared to their plain relatives, the alpine dwarves were slightly taller and thinner and less muscle. Although their powerful weapon when patrolling the sky was the legendary Storm Hammer, the three carried a weapon they could skillfully manipulate: a huge double-edged battle axe with long handles. A sharp blade cast with a hard metal similar to alloy, and even cut the thick scales of the giant beast. The great griffin knight, Kudland, once killed a dragon much larger than this with just one precise aim. He used such a battle axe at that time.
The winged animal surrounded their enemies, forcing it to turn from this direction to that direction to determine which griffin is the most for him. The orcs had known to be careful of griffin, but the special monster was a little overwhelmed by the lack of their own riders. The dwarves quickly expanded their advantages and controlled their mounts to fly around, increasing the frustration of the dragon. The wild dwarves' long beards and ponytails swung in the wind, and when they smiled and faced the huge enemy in front of them. The roaring laughter only made the dragon even more angry. He grabbed and bitched wildly, spraying flames that were ineffective.
"They are completely disoriented." Wenleza commented, and was impressed by this tactic. "They know that the dragon is young and that the dragon's irritable temper will cause him to lose his original tactics!"
"This is a good opportunity for us to leave," Ronin replied.
"They may need our help!"
"I have a task to carry out," he said, "and they have fully grasped the situation."
He was right. The situation of the battle seemed to belong to the griffin knights, although they had not launched a fierce attack. The three of them had been flying around the red dragon, making the dragon almost dizzy. The dragon tried hard to focus on one of them, but the other griffin kept diverting the dragon's sight. Only once, the flames passed by one of the winged opponents.
A dwarf suddenly raised his giant axe, its top sparkling in the twilight. He and his mount flew closer to the dragon again, and suddenly dived as they approached the back of the giant beast's head.
To be continued...
