Chapter 31 What is the key to a good actor

(There will be a chapter after twelve o'clock in the evening to prepare for the list! Continue to ask for recommendation votes!)

It was quiet around. Matthew stood in the middle of the classroom. Rachel McAdams stood two meters away opposite. Due to the lack of props, she gestured the gun with her hands and pointed at Matthew's head.

David Astor's teaching is mainly practical, and it can even be said to be targeting the Hollywood film and television industry.

Whether it is the previous dialogue scenes and the death of the family, or the kidnapping scenes that Matthew and Rachel McAdams are preparing to perform, they are the most common scenes in Hollywood movies or TV series.

The scripts that Matthew and Rachel McAdams got are not complicated. Ma Xiu plays a tough guy whose daughter is kidnapped, while Rachel McAdams is the kidnapper who threatens him.

"Take the things!" The dimples on Rachel McAdams' face disappeared completely. The harder facial lines and the fine adjustment of the muscles made the whole face look vulva, especially the lips were deliberately opened, revealing two lines of tightly clenched teeth, which brought out a sense of ruthlessness, "Otherwise your daughter will die!"

Matthew had thought about his role just now, especially after David Astor's story about the dialogue scene. This scene tells the story of a tough guy and a kidnapper entanglement in language. It is fundamentally a dialogue scene.

Therefore, he cannot stand here stupidly like the dialogue among Japanese cartoon characters.

Generally speaking, if you are kidnapped, especially when you are pointed at by a gun, most people will be frightened, lose control of their emotions, and cry and make a fuss. This is very normal.

But some scenes and some characters cannot do this.

For example, his current role is a tough guy!

What is a tough guy? In the movies that Matthew has seen, Bruce Willis in "Die Hard", Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Terminator 2", Sylvester Stallone in "The First Blood" series, and Tom Cruise in "Mission: Impossible" series, all interpreted them in their own ways.

Matthew believes that such a tough guy must be very calm.

"Where did you hide her?" Matthew looked cold, "I won't give you anything before you can't see your daughter."

As soon as the two lines were finished, David Astor frowned slightly but said nothing.

"This young man named Matthew Horner has a good appearance." He kept watching the performances of the two people, "but he was not very good at acting."

Even without having to tell it carefully, he could see that Matthew Horner was imitating Tom Cruise, but unfortunately he only imitated Tom Cruise's cool side, but there was no other side behind the tough guy.

The performances of the two continued, but their performances were completely different.

Matthew always widened his eyes, raising his momentum, and posing as a tough guy, but to outsiders, he always had an expression; Rachel McAdams was completely different. Her acting skills may not be very good, but she seemed to be free and easy against the backdrop of Matthew, especially using subtle changes in eyebrows, corners of mouth, eyes, and muscles on her face to make her expression more suitable for the atmosphere of dialogue rendering.

Everyone present could see that the performances of these two people were not on the same level at all.

Even Matthew himself realized it.

Rachel McAdams looked very petite, but as soon as he came on the stage, his entire aura changed. Matthew felt a word: reasonable.

This girl not only has a reasonable breath and reasonable movements, but even raises an eyebrow and silence. He can't keep up with her rhythm at all. This problem is very fatal. According to the script requirements, both characters are very tough, but his role is the strong one. Rachel McAdams is the slightly weak one, while Rachel McAdams plays the weak role of the super tough kidnapper just right.

If she had to find a suitable description, Matthew thought she was a tile knife worker at a construction site, while he was just a small worker who wielded a sledgehammer to do damage, or the temporary one.

Matthew's last half-minute drama was completely following the rhythm of Rachel McAdams.

"stop!"

After all the lines ended, David Astor shouted, and then came to Matthew and Rachel McAdams.

Matthew nodded slightly to Rachel McAdams.

Rachel McAdams no longer had the same slightest elf as before, and his beautiful brows frowned. She just stole the show.

Indeed, it can't be entirely blamed for her. The male actor on the opposite side performed too much, but she couldn't control her strength in such a scene...

Rachel McAdams shook his head, knowing that his acting skills are too easy to control and relax.

As for the male actor named Matthew Horner on the opposite side, he is pretty cool and does not have much acting skills.

"You did a good job," David Astor said to Rachel McAdams first. "What you lack most now is long-term practice and enough performance experience."

He turned to everyone and said, "Performance is a skill, and there is only one way to improve skills, that is, continuous practice. This is even more so when performing such skills related to physical control, just like athletes are not born, but practiced with perseverance!"

Matthew doesn't know what others think of David Astor, but in the eyes of people like him who have sufficient social experience, what this guy teaches is typical pragmatism.

Perhaps there are really performance geniuses in this world who don’t need much practice, but Matthew knows that he is not that kind of person.

Persevere practice! Matthew remembered this sentence firmly.

David Astor then said to Matthew, "Your problem is obvious, lack of experience in performance, and the performance form is single and superficial."

After hearing what he said, Matthew nodded extremely seriously. He came here to find someone to guide him.

"This kind of scene either shows a cold face or looks like a child. The acting seems to be in place, but the details are ignored." David Astor continued to say to Matthew, "You were very cold just now. The problem is that the one who was kidnapped is your daughter. The script wants you to portray not only a tough guy, but also a gentle and good father! Only coldness..."

He shook his head, "Do you think it's appropriate?"

Matthew also shook his head and asked at the same time, "Will it be better to add some worries and fears?"

"Yes." David Astor nodded first, then reminded, "There is no specific quantitative standard for performance, and it depends on the specific situation."

Among the fourteen people, most of them stared at David Astor attentively and listened carefully. For many people who have low education and have not received systematic performance learning, David Astor is like a good teacher.

Afterwards, Matthew and Rachel McAdams withdrew from the performance venue, and another pair of actors came in to perform.

In this performance class, Matthew was focused from beginning to end, afraid of missing out on any useful knowledge. Compared with his talent and acting skills, he might be ranked relatively behind among everyone, but when it comes to concentration, no one can compare to him.

Even Rachel McAdams looked very serious and was far behind.

The morning's course was fleeting, and Matthew even felt that time had passed too quickly. Unlike the others who hurriedly left, he chased out of the classroom and found David Astor, who had not yet walked away, and asked a question he thought was very critical.

"Mr. Astor," he asked politely, "What is the key to being a good actor?"

Although he wanted to be a Hollywood movie star and not an actor, he knew that the competition was fierce. If his acting skills were not even basic, even if he was lucky, he would soon fall to the bottom. That was not what he wanted.

"Matthew, right?" David Astor had an impression of him and thought for a while, saying, "I think actors should be modest, and not superficial."

After hearing what he said, Matthew was confused and couldn't figure out what this meant.

David Astor said again, "Perfect performance does not exist. Therefore, we must always be in awe of beauty." He nodded to Matthew, "It is a good thing to be studious, and it is a valuable quality in Hollywood."

Perhaps because he noticed that Matthew was different from others' seriousness and concentration in class, David Astor said in a special sentence, "Keep on, so that when opportunities arise, you have the capital to seize."

He nodded to Matthew, turned and walked away.

Matthew scratched his head, of course he could understand the words behind him, but he was a little confused about humility.

Standing here for a while, I really couldn't figure it out, so I simply walked towards the school's restaurant, had lunch, and sat down for a while. He came to another classroom and prepared to take the language class that he had signed up for.

In this classroom, Matthew saw several familiar faces. Some people who attended class together in the morning also came to take language classes, including Rachel McAdams, who had played opposite roles.

Seeing the seat next to Rachel McAdams was empty, Matthew immediately walked over.

"Hi, Rachel." He showed a very good character and asked politely, "Is there anyone here?"

Seeing Matthew's sunny smile, Rachel McAdams also responded politely, "Hello, Matthew. No one, just sit there."

Matthew pulled away the chair, sat down, and asked, "What a coincidence, you signed up for language class, too."

"There's no way," Rachel McAdams said helplessly, "The agent said my accent was too heavy and it must be corrected."

Matthew laughed, "My agent said the same thing, she thought my Texas accent was too rustic."

Rachel McAdams felt deeply, "Isn't it? My agent also thinks my Canadian accent is not good."

With a common topic, the two gradually became familiar with each other.
