Chapter 16 Let him be deflated

That night, Matthew received a call from Dennis Kurt. The fat agent asked him to go to Starlight Company the next day for an interview and receive the compensation from the crew of "Soul Girl". He got off work in the morning and handed over the work, and immediately rushed to Starlight Company. After meeting Dennis Kurt, he went to the finance department to receive the compensation first.

Because he was present in person, the cashier of Starlight Company paid directly, and after deducting 10% of the broker's commission, Matthew received 180 US dollars.

He didn't have much money, but he racked his brains and worked hard to earn it.

"Go to my office and have a chat." Dennis Kurt warmly invited.

Matthew thought for a while, nodded and said, "Okay."

The salary has been received, and it is time to draw a clear line with this very unqualified agent. He knows that he is also a very unqualified person, but he is not as good as Dennis Kurt.

Following Dennis Kurt, Matthew entered an office and looked at it for a while. About five or six agents were working together. Fortunately, the office area was relatively large and it didn't look particularly crowded.

Arriving at an empty desk, Dennis Kurtella brought a chair and greeted Matthew, "Sit as you like."

When Matthew sat down, he asked again, "Coffee? Or?"

"Just water is good." Matthew said casually.

Dennis Kurt went to the water dispenser to help Matthew pick up water. Matthew thought it would be better to terminate the cooperation in a tactful manner. Just as he was considering the wording, a young man sitting opposite the desk suddenly stretched out his head, "Are you Matthew Horner?"

Matthew Horner was stunned and thought to himself, "I'm very famous?"

The young man turned his head and looked at Dennis Kurt who was still picking up water, and said in a low voice, "Change agent. Dennis Kurt has a bad reputation in the company and has poor character. When you lose your value, you will kick you away!"

"Is that true?" Matthew sighed, and sighed inwardly that the agency was not at peace, and smiled, "Thank you."

"You're welcome." The young man quickly gave Matthew a business card. "If you can't find a suitable agent for the time being, you can call me. I know many producers and casting directors."

Matthew put away his business card and said nothing more. The young man turned his head and looked back and continued to work, as if nothing had happened.

Dennis Kurt walked back with two glasses of water, placed one in front of Matthew, and pulled it over the chair and sat down.

"I have a question." Dennis Kurt asked curiously, "Matthew, how did you get this role?"

Matthew picked up the cup and said before drinking, "Someone convinced me Winona Ryder."

Hearing that he said this, Dennis Kurt felt more and more that his previous guess was reasonable, and he smiled happily and said, "It's better to do this, Matthew, let's sign a long-term contract."

After meeting Dennis Kurt, Matthew went to check the information specifically to prevent being cheated by this fat man. He also had a preliminary understanding of some Hollywood contracts, such as the contract between an actor and an agent. If he was in the last performance, he only needed to register with the intermediary company. Even if he had a job, he would be a temporary contract. During this period, he would sign a formal brokerage contract and become a member of the agency's huge backup talent pool.

In order to ensure the interests of actors, California has formulated very strict laws. The California Talent Act stipulates that if an actor formally signs a contract with an agent or economic company, the maximum time limit for the first contract is one year, and the maximum time limit for each contract shall not exceed three years in the future.

In other words, it is not difficult to replace an actor if he is not satisfied with an economic company.

This also limits the power of brokerage companies in some ways, allowing them to essentially exist as service providers.

Matthew was thinking about these things and did not answer Dennis Kurt's words for a while.

"I will notify the company to sign the contract next week to draft a professional contract." Dennis Kurt thought he had agreed and laughed with a big mouth, "No need to hurry..."

He smiled so hard that his facial features were almost squeezed out, "Matthew, can you ask Mr. Georgia Kekendis to have a meal together?"

"Huh?" Matthew immediately understood that the so-called long appointment was just a bait.

"How about you call," Dennis Kurt said tentatively, "Ask Mr. Kakendis when he has time?"

Matthew remembered that when he was on the crew of "The Soul-Escaped Girl", Dennis Kurt once asked him if he had any relationship with Georgia Kekendes. At that time, he neither admitted nor denied it.

This guy who is dedicated to his career and only has interests in his eyes is obviously a misunderstanding.

"Let's talk about it later." Matthew was about to talk about the topic today, "I can't invite him."

He glanced at the opposite side and found that the young man seemed to be eavesdropping.

Dennis Kurt was a little impatient, thinking Matthew was deliberately shirking, and asked, "Don't you know Mr. Georgia Kekendis?"

"Yes, I know it."

This fat man has a better purpose than him, and Matthew is too lazy to pull it off any more. "Mr. Georgia Kekendise is the producer of the crew of "The Soul-Escaped Girl".

"You just need to introduce..."

Before Dennis Kurt could finish his words, he was interrupted by Matthew, "The problem is, he doesn't know me!"

"What?" Dennis Kurt seemed to have not heard Matthew clearly.

“I know Georgia Kekendes.”

This so-called understanding is just about knowing the other party’s identity. Matthew shrugged and said again, “Georgia Kekendes doesn’t know me!”

Dennis Kurtho stood up, stretched out a finger and pointed at Matthew, "You! You...you dare to lie to me!"

"Lie?" Matthew also stood up, "When did I say that Georgia Kekendes knew me?"

"Uh..." Dennis Kurt recalled and stood there.

"Hahaha……"

There was laughter across from the desk, and the young man looked up and looked at Dennis Kurt and laughed, "Is this your chance to brag? Haha..."

Dennis Kurt looked as if he was ashen, glared at the young man, then turned to look at Matthew, "Don't want me to get you any more job opportunities! Don't think about it!"

"It doesn't matter." Matthew shrugged, "Actually, I came here to tell you that we won't cooperate anymore."

He sighed, turned around and was about to leave, and before leaving, he said, "I still want to say thank you to you. You made me realize the difficulties of this profession and made me understand the sinisterness of human hearts."

After saying that, Matthew left the office without looking back.

Dennis Kurt stood there blankly, as if he was stupid.

"This is the simple-minded fool you call." The young man finally caught the opportunity to get angry, "Denis, you are that fool, right?"

Everyone else in the office looked over with a hint of sympathy in their eyes, but more of contempt.

An agent was actually tricked by a Xiaolin, and his colleagues laughed out loud when they said it.

With $180 in hand, Matthew walked out of the office building where Starlight Company was located. For some reason, he suddenly felt much more refreshed. He saw all the actions of Dennis Kurt. It was definitely fake to say that he didn't hate it.

"Maybe the moment I promised him to enter the office..." Matthew knew that he was not a noble person, "subconsciously wanted to make him lose face."

After ending the cooperation with Dennis Kurt and Starlight, the most important thing next is to find a suitable intermediary company. Matthew had contacted three companies before, but now there is nothing to do, so he can go and take a look.

Then, Matthew went to North Hollywood first, two of which were located near Laurel Valley Avenue. These two companies were similar to Starlight, with less than ten agents, mainly acting in the business of acting and small actors.

Although someone received him, everything was normal. Like Starlight Company, Matthew left his identity information, photos, resume and contact information. Even if he completed the filing, the only difference is that in the resume column, he specifically stated that he had played a role with lines on the crew of "The Soul-Evering Girl".

When he returned the form he filled in, Matthew saw the receptionist draw a circle with a red stroke on the line he specifically noted.

He had filed a case with these two agencies and took a bus to Burbank. The third company he contacted was located in the media capital of the world.

As soon as he arrived in Burbank, Matthew's cell phone rang, an unfamiliar number.

"Did you get a job so soon?"

The red circles specially drawn on the table gave Matthew a little more fantasy and answered the phone immediately.

"Hello, Mr. Matthew Horner! I'm Lawyer Chris Walker."

A familiar voice came from the phone, "I urge you to pay the liquidated damages for the crew of "Tao Tarot" as soon as possible, otherwise we will take legal measures!"

Hearing this, Matthew's fantasy immediately turned into a bubble and muttered in his heart, "It's so lingering!"

But then again, it was indeed his breach of contract.

Matthew had no money now and could only adopt the strategy of dragging. He pinched his throat and said hoarsely, "Who are you? You've found the wrong person!"

Then, he hung up the phone and turned off the phone.

As for the legal means mentioned by the other party, they will talk about it later. At worst, they can just go to a lawsuit. I remember that in the movies I have watched, the lawsuits of the Americans are both stinky and long.

Maybe you will have money by then.

With this idea in mind, Matthew walked all the way and found the place where the angel agency that had called the phone was located, a separate three-story office building with two trucks parked at the entrance of the building, and workers unloaded their desks and chairs from the car and transported them into the building.
