Chapter 2 The Funeral Fifteen Years Ago

"This is an autopsy report, I'm sorry, Mr. Joseph Cox, your wife has a serious heart disease, so... it's just a result sooner or later." A policeman handed Joseph the autopsy report and handed over a pen and pointed to a place under the document. "If you think there is no problem, sign it here."

Joseph got the autopsy report, but as he looked, his face kept changing. There was no trauma, no abnormality, and there was no abnormality in the teeth. He looked at the policeman with a little silence: "This... how is this possible? My God, this is impossible..."

"If you have questions, you can apply for a coroner's autopsy again and ask your questions. That's it! Do you want to sign?" The policeman seemed a little impatient and pointed to the place where he signed.

Joseph did not dare to question anymore and signed quickly. He didn't know how he got home. When he walked into the house, the young man stood up, and next to him was Lisa, a little girl lying on the sofa, dancing. He nodded to the young man, and had a lot of words in his heart. He endured it but still couldn't say it.

"Why is there no wound on the body, why is it a heart disease...I know you will have many questions," said the young man to Joseph. "I know it's all too surprising, I'll make it clear to you."

Joseph didn't say anything. He held his daughter and returned to the room, quietly accompanying her daughter on the bed. Until his daughter woke him up with joy, he got up and thought for a while, then he remembered that he should have a funeral for Melissa. But what he needed to figure out the most is who the young man outside was.

The young man was still sitting in the living room, and he seemed to be waiting for Joseph, and he did not care at all about Joseph's failure to greet him, and was not grateful for his life-saving grace.

"This world... is not actually the world you imagined, nor is it the world I used to be..." The young man looked at Joseph, "It took me many years to figure out that this world is just a joke to me, and for you... it may be a disaster, but... it's nothing, I've survived it."

Joseph just listened quietly. The young man said something incomprehensible to him. Vampires, werewolfs, ghosts, and even superheroes... This was simply absurd to him.

"Okay, listen... I don't know where you came from and who you are, but I am very grateful to you. You saved Lisa and me. If you want, I can entertain you here and express my gratitude..." Joseph still waited for the young man to finish his words and said patiently.

"I like French black pepper steak with pasta, by the way... I'll have a little more Bordeaux Merle red wine, and the sound I think...the taste will definitely be very good. Of course, there is also a glass of apple juice!" The young man said his request without any politeness.

"Uh, sorry, sir..." Joseph said a little.

"My name is Huan? Jia. Chinese!" the young man said.

"Mr. Ja..." Joseph looked at him awkwardly, "I only have gin and red wines from Temecula..."

"Then let's get red wine." The young man nodded casually, "I'll go and see Lisa... is it called Lisa? It's a nice name, but the little girl... you have to be careful..." As he said that, he went to the bedroom skillfully and hugged Lisa who was in the cradle of the bedroom. He was very skillful in his movements, not like a novices at all, as if he was very good at taking care of children.

Joseph looked at it and felt relieved, so he went to the kitchen. The steak tasted very ordinary for dinner. Joseph was not a chef, but he thought it had been a good one. Another time he made it well. It was the time when Melissa was pregnant and he thought she had made it well.

Jia Huan ate very seriously, basically not saying that, and Joseph did not have the habit of talking during the meal, so the two of them finished the dinner dullly, only Lisa next to her made a "yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayaya

"I think... I should give Melissa a funeral. Tomorrow... I want to claim the body from the police station first. Father Kadisi of the church in the town will help me handle all this... Are you going to attend?" Joseph didn't know how to chat with Jas, but he always felt that he wanted to say something.

Seeing Jia Huan seemingly indifferent, he became embarrassed again and spread his hands: "If you don't want to...yes, we just happened to meet you. You forgot what I just said..."

"No problem, I have time." Unexpectedly, Jia Huan agreed immediately, "Where am I sleeping?" He seemed to think this was his home.

"We still have a room... It's been empty all the time, and few people have lived there. I can help you sort it out!" Joseph pursed his lips, and didn't say anything. He couldn't say anything, so he nodded.

As soon as Jia Huan left, Lisa suddenly started to cry. Joseph hurried over and teased the child gently, but Lisa cried more and more fiercely, and she felt a little unrestrained. This made Joseph a little helpless. Usually these things were done by Melissa, and he was a little unfamiliar.

"You should feed her." Jia Huan stopped and looked back, "Use the milk in your refrigerator, remember to cook it, and then cool it to room temperature. You can put the first drop on the back of your hand. If it is not hot, you can feed her." After that, he walked straight into the room.

Melissa's funeral was held in the church in the town. It was the only church in the town that could accommodate one hundred and sixty people to join in prayer and gather.

Melissa seems to have a bad reputation, and not many people come to participate in the funeral, only about twenty or thirty people. This makes the whole church look a little empty.

The coffin was placed at the front desk of the church, and Melissa lay in the coffin as if she was sleeping quietly. Her lips were closed, and the two sharp teeth could not be seen. Everything seemed normal, but she was just like the death of a normal person. This made Joseph feel a little illusion that he thought that seeing that scene before was like a ridiculous dream.

But Jia Huan's existence, sitting behind the church, made him feel that all this seemed to be true. The Chinese man always reminded him that this ridiculous dream that he had experienced was a fact.

"You will find the house that suits you!" Joseph nodded and walked forward.

He didn't know how the future would go. He only knew that he should raise Lisa well. This was his only idea now. He firmly insisted on this idea. Then whether it was the hallucinations before or Melissa's death, he would try to forget them and start a new life.

Jia Huan watched Joseph walking towards his home and couldn't help but shrugging his shoulders. Yes, he should have stopped for a while. He has walked too long. This road has been around for more than a hundred years and has not been completed. It is still continuing until now. He feels that he needs to stop every time he walks, and then slowly adjust himself.

This world is no different from the one I had before. The only difference is that there are many unknown secrets and various strange things that are unknown.

Fifteen years, just a flash.

In fifteen years, the small wooden house built in the woods became even more green, because many vines climbed up the roofs, windows, and walls of the wooden house.
