994 Chess changes

For large companies like Warner Bros. and Disney, joining forces is definitely not a trivial matter. They must go through layers of review and multiple considerations to determine whether to cooperate. Even if the cooperation plan is determined, the distribution of interests and power will be a tug-of-war. It is not uncommon to have a single work like "Titanic" and "Benjamin Button's Strange Things", the two parties will have to argue and pull for a long time, let alone the remake of DC Comics. Therefore, revealing the intention to cooperate is only the first step, and there is still a long way to go next.

But undoubtedly, Disney's olive branch has proposed another possibility for Barry.

If possible, Warner Bros. certainly hopes to keep DC Comics firmly in his palms and refuse to share their interests with others. Just like the first time, Chaos Pictures, there will be no difference between top companies like Disney; but Disney's theme park cooperation plan is a temptation/temptation that Warner Bros. cannot refuse, not to mention that Warner Bros. does need someone to share the risks now.

However, apart from the relevant assessments of cooperation interests and cooperation risks, even if Barry nodded and agreed to cooperate with Disney, the choice of cooperation projects is also crucial. Should they choose highly-known characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Flash, and attack with all their strength from the beginning; or choose Catwoman, Constantine, who is not well-known but has a topic gimmick, try the waters and see the cooperation effect between the two parties, and watch it while walking; or to fully open up the characters under DC Comics, both parties are in their own formation, Warner Bros. develops several characters, Disney develops several characters, and then work together to layout the DC Universe...

Different projects can lead to different results, and there are countless details and problems.

In fact, this is one of the important reasons why Warner Bros. refuses to share DC comics with other companies. In addition to fundamental interests, the two parties will face many problems in the cooperation process, creative setting, style choice, idea positioning, etc. If possible, Warner Bros. is willing to hold the right to make the movie firmly in their hands and then work with Disney to build a theme park. But firstly, Disney is not a fool; secondly, the risks of comic adaptations are issues that Warner Bros. must consider.

Now is the best time, because Chaos Pictures has just started to make arrangements; it is also the worst time, because the box office of "Superman Return", "X-Men 3", and "Spider-Man 2" has not been able to meet expectations one after another.

Barry leaned in the boss' chair and fell into deep thought. Although he had responded positively to Robert's show of kindness just now, he himself did not decide whether to promote this cooperation. As for the opinions of the board of directors, it will be the next thing. The most urgent task is to investigate the changes within Disney and the recent news in the circle. What exactly drove Robert to take the initiative? Barry is not a person led by the nose.

Thinking of this, Barry suddenly felt a little ridiculous. A mere Chaos Film and a mere Lancelot Strello actually made the whole of Hollywood turn upside down. This was really incredible, right? If someone told him a year ago that he would change the future development strategy of Warner Bros. because of the start of filming of two movies, he would definitely think that person was crazy. But, the reality happened like this.

"This is Hollywood." Barry said sarcastically, then picked up the phone receiver again and pressed the inside button, "Help me transfer the production department..."

In this chess game, Chaos Film took the lead, and then the big guys in Hollywood responded one after another. The changes in the world have risen to completely different levels, which is a world of difference from the world before the "Raging Road". However, Lance has obviously been mentally prepared for a long time. He has no plan to be beaten passively, and taking the initiative is his style.

James Corden looked at Lance in front of him with a look of surprise and could not react. However, Lance seemed to have not noticed it, and sat in place with a calm face. In the face of James's surprised and panicked look, James was as steady as Mount Tai. In the end, James was defeated and looked at Theo sitting next to him with help.

Recently, Theo has been sitting on Green Ridge Street, and James and Theo are also familiar with each other. However, Theo did not speak, and Ian's teasing voice came over, "Lance, you scared James." Lance raised his eyebrows and glanced speechlessly. Ian chuckled, "James, I think Lance means that you must adjust your vision. Our goal is not the second DreamWorks, but the seventh largest film company in Hollywood. All plans now cannot focus on the present, but on the results of five years or even ten years later." Ian leaned on the back of the chair, looked up at Lance sitting behind, "Am I right?"

"But...but..." James felt that he needed some time to digest it. Before entering Chaos Pictures, he was also the CEO of a film company, in charge of the life and death power of nearly 100 employees. However, in just one year, Chaos Pictures' development pace was really too fast, and James's vision seemed to be unable to keep up with the speed.

In addition to the production department, Chaos Pictures' distribution department has been earth-shaking. After experiencing the baptism of the "razy road", they signed distribution agreements with major theaters again. Chaos Pictures now has the ability to publish an average of about 3,700 theaters in North America. Perhaps its foundation still cannot compete with major brands like Disney and Warner Bros., and there are still differences in the details of the contract, but such distribution capabilities are already qualified to challenge big companies.

In addition, Chaos Film's screenwriter department has become the largest transmission place for Hollywood independent films. In September alone, they received more than 25,000 scripts. This data has surpassed those old brands and became Hollywood's leading figures. Of course, there is a lot of water among them, and amateur scripts account for the majority, and more than 90% of the scripts will be eliminated. Only a very small part can be put on the blacklist and sent to major film and film companies. Less than one thousand of the scripts have the opportunity to stay at Chaos Film and invest in filming.

Despite this, Chaos Film has formed a virtuous industrial chain, and the development of screenwriters is ahead of the entire Hollywood. Last month, Chaos Film signed an agreement with the American East Coast Screenwriters Association and the American West Coast Screenwriters Association, which received their support. It has cooperated with New York University, UCLA and others to establish the "Chaos Film Scholarship", which is specially used to commend excellent scripts and is selected once a quarter, encouraging screenwriters talents to break through innovation and transform those imaginative ideas into scripts. The first scholarship selection will begin in October and the results will be announced in the first week of January next year.

There is also Chaos Film's trailer soundtrack department, which has now become one of the most important gathering places in Hollywood. In 2006 alone, the market share of the department reached 70%. It is the well-deserved giant of the trailer soundtrack. It can almost be said to be the dominant player. Thanks to the circular profit of copyright, as of September, the soundtrack department's profit in 2006 had exceeded 80 million, and the profit was astonishing, and it was even more profitable than a "City of Sin". Lance's seemingly gambling choice at the time has now become the strongest driving force for Chaos Film's rapid development. If it weren't for the "Rampage Road" being too crazy, perhaps the soundtrack department's revenue this year would have exceeded that of the production department.

Chaos Film is no longer a small independent company. The office at No. 21 Green Ridge Street has expanded to three floors, with nearly 300 employees, and has truly become the leader of Hollywood medium-sized film companies. The so-called "Seventh Player" is not a simple fictional name. The behind-the-scenes departments that the media cannot see play an important role, but the success of the "Raging Road" has pushed Chaos Film's real strength to everyone in one fell swoop.

But even so, James was still frightened when he heard about Lance's plan - because Lance decided to set up an intellectual property department, in layman's terms, it was the surrounding department.

The cause of the incident comes from the peripheral distribution of "Raging Road" - that is, the distribution of videotapes and DVDs. However, Chaos Pictures has no channel for distribution at all. Considering that Chaos Pictures' distribution department has just entered the track, the next promotional distribution of "Queen" and "Iron Man" and "Invincible Hulk" will be promoted, so James feels that cooperating with large film companies is the best choice - Paramount or Universal. Now both companies have complete peripheral distribution channels, and they are also willing to cooperate with Chaos Pictures. After all, the explosive power of "Raging Road" in the videotape market is worth looking forward to, not to mention a series of films that will be put into production soon.

This is not only the easiest choice, but also the wisest choice, especially considering that Chaos Pictures is collaborating with Universal Pictures to shoot "Invincible Hulk", and the cooperation in peripheral distribution is completely in line with the flow.

But Lance put forward a shocking idea. He hoped that Chaos Film would complete the peripheral distribution work of the "Raging Road". Not only that, Chaos Film will also set up an intellectual property department to truly include the development of surrounding industries within its territory. This... this is simply crazy. Not to mention how huge the funds and energy the surrounding industries need to invest, just the copyright in Chaos Film now is far from the scale of the development surrounding areas.

"Lance, do you know how many copyrights we have now? Nine works, only nine works, and not even double digits, and only rely on nine movies to set up an intellectual property department. Are you sure this is not too advanced? The risk cannot be proportional to investment. I can't see the need for such a choice, and I can't see the possibility of success of such a plan."

James finally came to his senses and spoke endlessly, blushing.
