751 Crew Meeting
Lance saw the actors' every move, but he did not express his opinion. What he knew when he was in Los Angeles was one thing, and the feeling of going to Namibia was another. Even if he had made enough mental preparations, he still felt the impact now, let alone other people? I believe that as the shooting progresses, everyone will change.
Looking out through the window of the tent, the sandstorm seemed to have stopped, and the sand floating in the sky seemed to disappear in a blink of an eye. The sunlight reflected on the vast red sand is becoming stronger and stronger. The body can even clearly feel the temperature rising slowly. When it is noon, it will probably be hotter.
Lance took off the leather jacket. It was originally intended to prevent the sun from burning, but now it is like plastic wrap, covering all the sweat inside. It seems that the temperature difference between morning and evening is a problem, and the scorching sun is also a problem. Lance quickly took out paper and pen and recorded all these problems.
Everyone was chattering and discussing, obviously not everyone had the opportunity to go to the desert to shoot movies on the spot. The freshness of this experience made everyone excited, but at the same time they were a little anxious, and the strange unknown and potential dangers were clearly spreading in the air. So, everyone was talking, trying to share their inner emotions with their companions.
Lance raised his right hand high and tried to speak twice, but failed. He turned to look at the others standing outside the tent. At this time, the window was already full, and he could only see blue fragments of the sky. No one knew when the next wind would come. So Lance took a deep breath, sinking into his dantian, and could only roar, "Shut up!" It was straightforward and violent, like thunder on the ground, which made the entire tent quiet in an instant. Everyone looked at Lance in panic and astonished.
"Shut up all! This is not a pajama party for junior high school girls. If you have any questions, wait until you go back to the dormitory in the evening. Now he/she/mother/shutters his mouth!" Lance said without hesitation, and the last bit of restlessness in the tent calmed down, and suddenly became silent. You could even clearly hear the trivial sound of sand hitting outside the tent.
"We will start rehearsing later. The first scene will be filmed this afternoon..." Lance said the first sentence, and Hayden Hunter interrupted, "But..." But everyone is not familiar with the situation in the desert, so it is too embarrassing to start filming in the afternoon. However, Hayden didn't have the chance to finish his words. Lance turned his head and glared at Hayden fiercely. Hayden always likes to argue with Lance and express his opinions, but he has always clearly known when he can speak and when he should shut up. For example, now, Hayden closes his mouth tightly.
"Next, I will explain in detail how this work will be filmed. Regarding the shooting technical issues, you are welcome to interrupt me at any time, but in addition, talk less and listen more. After the crew enters the shooting, I don't want to see anyone still confused and don't understand what we are doing." Although Lance did not say "otherwise", the simple sentence still made the staff present shudder - even in the high temperature of the desert.
There is no need for Hayden to remind him, and Lance also clearly knows how difficult it is to shoot. But what they need now is not doubt or worry, but to turn all the pressure into motivation and truly put it into work to try to overcome the difficulties brought by nature with a spirit of facing difficulties. Therefore, Lance needs everyone to be confident, rather than be full of doubts before the shooting begins.
Lance turned to look at the whiteboard behind him, which had eight storyboards on it. "The whole movie will be filmed in the order of the story development, ensuring that our entire crew can keep the state on the storyline and do not make mistakes. The first scene is Max's appearance, and we will shoot a chase scene in less than fifteen seconds, and then Max is successfully hunted by the scavengers. It's over."
After completing the introduction in a simple sentence, Lance pointed to the first storyboard, "We will use a wave of streams to complete the entire scene. Except for a small number of close-ups and special shots that will be shot later, all the pictures will be shot in one breath." A sound of gasping inside and outside the tent came from the tent. Even Adriana who has no experience in filming knows how difficult it is. Even those core members who have known Lance's planning for a long time still couldn't help but their heartbeats, especially after visiting the desert scene in person, this tension became more and more obvious. "First of all, a shot will be set here to capture Max's back, push from the middle scene to the close-up scene, and then pull back to the middle scene. After Max drives away, it gradually rises and becomes a panoramic view, capturing the whole picture of the next chase."
Lance pointed to the first storyboard and began to explain it. In the picture, there is a small hill, and below is an endless red desert. A rusty retro car was parked on the hill, and a majestic man stood next to it. Then he pointed to the second storyboard, and the picture became a side, with the car at the far end, the man at the near end, the hill on the left and the desert on the right.
"Secondly, there will be a shot here, all of which are close-up, aiming at the position of the tires," Lance pointed to the side view of the hills and the bite line on the horizon. "We first capture the shot of Max driving down the mountain. When the scavengers appear, they will drive by, there are cars and motorcycles. I need the stunt actors to take off the car. This shot will capture the sky between the tires of the car and the ground, and the curve of the mountain..."
This is the advantage of the storyboard. On the third sketch, the upper part is a huge tire, and in the middle is a washed blue sky. Rolling mountains are outlined under the blue sky, and the lower part is a rugged hill with gravel. The vast and distant impact force is placed on the picture in a tough posture, making people feel a sense of oppression clearly through the paper. There is no need to imagine that the effect created on the large screen will be even more shocking.
"After driving down, this shot will also capture the full picture of the chase battle from this angle." Lance quickly explained, and then came to the fourth and fifth storyboards. "The two locations use panoramic views, but the difference is that this panoramic view is a frontal rush, mainly capturing the magnificent view of dust rolling sand and dust. I need the camera to be higher to make the car look smaller, and the hills and mountains behind me are more majestic; and this panoramic view is on the side, aiming at the hugeness and vastness of the chase convoy, seven cars and four motorcycles, and after they get closer, then it becomes a close-up view..."
Lance quickly pointed to the sixth storyboard, "The chase will end here." Lance pointed to a point on the storyboard, "The vehicle chasing behind knocked Max's car over. It is best that the car can be flipped in the air, but this is not a rigid requirement, it mainly depends on the performance of the stunt personnel. The most important thing is that all teams must lock the tires and raise the dust as much as possible. Don't worry that the dust blocks the camera's vision, and try your best to lift the dust."
Then return to the fifth storyboard, "Here, the lens will become close-up, and it will be linked to..." The seventh storyboard, "Here, the lens is mainly based on the medium scene, and records the continuous rolling scene of the car in detail. Then the whole car is buried in the sand, and the lens begins to move forward, from the medium scene to the close-up scene, Max will crawl out of the sand, and at this time the camera will follow Max's movements and stay in the close-up position. The scavengers flocked from all directions and quickly subdued Max. The scene is over!"
As soon as the words were finished, someone raised his hand. When Lance saw that it was indeed Hayden. Lance lit his chin, Hayden immediately spoke, "Two questions, where is the pursuit ending, how to control this? After all, it is a car. Who knows how they will roll? The photographer stood in this position, if the calculation was wrong and crushed, what should we do? Also, the camera captured the medium and close-up scene here, and Max had to climb out of the accident scene directly. The problem was that this scene must be filmed by a stunt actor. How do you climb out? There is no end to switch space here."
"First, this is the main content of the morning rehearsal. The stuntman conducts the drill, and then gives us a safe range, and the photographer puts it into work; second, after the car drives down the hill, I will do a camera switch, and the stuntman and I can complete the driver's switch under the hill. I sit in the passenger seat, and after the overturn, I climb out of the passenger seat directly." Lance's explanation was very fast, and everyone inside and outside the tent had a bigger and bigger expression, and could hardly hide it.
Lance said so lightly, but everyone knew the dangers. Lance not only had to sit in the passenger seat and experience a car accident - the car would roll in the air; but also had to perfectly control the state of the fall, ensuring that the passenger seat would face the camera side. This was a serious challenge for everyone, especially Lance, who is the protagonist, who needs to experience a car accident and also needs to be involved in the performance. This is simply... an impossible task. But Lance was so calm.
Lance did not say further, as if he had just said something simple, "Is there anything else?"
As soon as he finished speaking, his arms were raised inside and outside the tent. Lance secretly breathed a sigh of relief in his heart, and he calmly said on the surface and called him, "Newton!"
Newton-Segel said directly, "How to deal with lights? In the desert, lighting is too difficult because the sun's position is constantly changing..."
