702 Fanning the flames

The grand release of "Good Night, Good Luck" is really beyond people's imagination. You should know that this movie was only held for preview. In other words, only 300 guests watched this movie - the audience at the Venice Film Festival were not included, but the current discussion of this movie has a sense of unstoppable momentum, and the praise of film critics is becoming more and more intense under the pursuit of the news media.

Especially when New York Times reporter Javier Ulier wrote an article on his personal blog, condemning the "Eavesdropping Gate" with righteous condemnation and mentioned the movie "Good Night, Good Luck" at the end of the article.

"George Clooney uses serious and elegant lens to take us back to the thrilling history, allowing Edward R-Mollo's spirit to shine again. Now, we are facing a similar situation again. Just like McCarthyism, the White House chose extreme eavesdropping and surveillance methods to "maintain national security." But when basic human rights have been lost, what should we talk about national security? Perhaps, McCarthyism has never completely disappeared, and the basic human rights of citizens have never been guaranteed. So, what should we do? Wait for the next Edward R-Mollo? Or stand up and fight for our own power?"

As the number one blogger in North America, Javier's blog click rate is far ahead of the list of bloggers in the public media. The average click rate in a week can reach 12 million, which really makes people feel the power of the Internet era. It is no exaggeration to say that Javier's online influence has reached a sufficient height to compete with traditional media such as the "New York Times" and the "Los Angeles Times".

After Javier uploaded this blog post, the click rate exceeded 500,000 in just one hour, which easily reminds people of the significance represented by the 80th media comprehensive review, which also made the exposure rate of "Good Night, Good Luck" reach a new high.

Since the movie was released in eleven theaters in Los Angeles in the first week, the next week only added three cities, New York, Chicago and Houston, and the release of other regions will have to wait until the third week at the fastest. This also means that the work with the highest discussion this fall will not be widely circulated at least half a month. Audiences in other cities in North America can no longer hold back and began to protest, hoping that the movie can enter major cities as soon as possible. Applications have begun to appear one after another.

What is even more unbelievable is that a brand new proposal appeared in the Yahoo community, "Watch 'Good Night, Good Luck' and say no to the 'Eavesdropping Sect'!"

Within the post, the proposal reprinted the link to Javier's blog post and quoted Javier's conclusion to express his position, hoping that every audience can protest against the "eavesdropping gate" with their own actions. Maybe they cannot participate in the demonstration, maybe they cannot change the president's resolution, but they can use this method to get more attention from the movie and then awaken more citizens' awareness of rights protection.

The reason why art is so special is that it contains rich human thoughts, which in turn enlightens more people's thoughts. Movies are no exception.

Not long after this proposal was proposed, it had triggered more than a thousand clicks, and the attention was slowly rising. Javier opened the post and looked at the approval rating. He had collected more than 300 support, which made people clearly feel that the work "Good Night, Good Luck" is attracting more and more attention. This is really rare for an awards season movie with a strong artistic style.

Even though the "Soul King" happened to meet the death of Ray Charles last year, it did not achieve such an effect. The last awards season work that resonated with the audience was traced back to the "Silence of the Lambs" released in February 1991.

Javier was really a little surprised. Although saying "Good night, good luck" came out in the right way at the right time, it was still unbelievable to achieve such an effect.

Javier recalled Lance's call last night. The two talked a lot and talked a lot in a blank space. Among them, the content about "Good Night, Good Luck" accounted for a part. After the phone was hung up, Javier wrote this blog post. He understood that Lance and George Clooney were good friends, and he naturally spared no effort to endorse his friends. Now seeing the almost perverted call of "Good Night, Good Luck", except for George's excellent connections, Javier could not find any reason. Even Lance, who had never participated, took the initiative to promote his friends, which was enough to say everything.

But... looking at the Yahoo community's proposal, in just five minutes, after refreshing again, the number of supporters had exceeded 500, Javier felt that this was really abnormal.

If you think about it seriously, the biggest abnormality is that "good night, good luck" is just a preview. The Internet craze comes too quickly, too fierce, and too hurrying. It is like netizens who do not plan to watch this movie at all, and they are blindly following the trend and applauding. Moreover, this trend is losing control step by step, which reminds people of castles in the air.

But can this abnormality be counted? Perhaps it is just one of the publicity strategies of the issuer Warner Brothers, perhaps it is just that George's strong connections are exerting force in advance, or perhaps it is just that people's anger towards the "eavesdropping gate" cannot be found... So this kind of discussion craze cannot be said to be "abnormal".

Moreover, even if this abnormality is real, then this is the so-called "supporting and killing". Concentrate all the firepower to promote "good night, good luck" to the extreme peak, and then let it fall down hard, breaking it into pieces. But the problem is that the media comprehensive review of 80 has proved the excellent quality of the movie; at the same time, as an awards season movie, box office is not the goal, not to mention that an investment of 7.5 million yuan is far from being a loss, which means that "good night, good luck" cannot fail, and falling from the peak is impossible. Even if you want to fail, there is no room for the "supporting and killing" strategy is useless.

So, maybe he was just too surprised, so he was thinking about it. This is Hollywood, and any bizarre thing is possible, isn’t it?

As Javier expected - or it was completely beyond Javier's expectations, after "Good Night, Good Luck" was officially previewed at 11 theaters in Los Angeles, the movie achieved an extremely outstanding single-camera box office. Although the single-camera data of $38,000 is not amazing - the single-camera box office of "City of God" was 42,000, but this data is the second highest-camera movie result this year after "Zombie Bride" and ranks second in the year.

For such a serious and dull movie, such results can be considered incredible!

More importantly, after the preview of the 11 theaters, the reputation of "Good Night, Good Luck" was officially out of the box. In addition to the excellent performance of the media's comprehensive review, the 216 mass media of Rotten Tomatoes gave a 93% freshness, with a rating of 8.1. Many mass media exclaimed, "This is the best Oscar film this year"; even in the popcorn index, it reached 83%, which is almost a recognition that commercial films can achieve, but now it is created by "Good Night, Good Luck", which clearly shows that this work has won the recognition of tricky film critics and also won the recognition of picky audiences.

All signs are showing that the upward momentum of "Good night, good luck" is still unstoppable!

Perhaps "good night, good luck" is trapped by the limitations of the subject matter and cannot kill people in the box office market like "borrowing a knife to kill people", but there is no doubt that this work has attracted a lot of attention. It is not impossible to obtain excellent box office data when thinking of the Internet's discussion craze. Now, all signs seem to indicate that the number one seed in the awards season has been released.

The Washington Post even wrote an article to tease, "It seems that no one can stop George Clooney from attacking his first little golden man. But maybe we can look forward to his close friend, Lancelot Strello."

Invisibly, "fruit hard candies" once again became the focus.

Originally, because of the existence of "Mad Max 4", people were curious about the quality of "Fruit Hard Candy" and tried to peek into the root of Lance's crazy choice through this work; now because of the unstoppable momentum of "Good Night, Good Luck", "Fruit Hard Candy", which was released only two weeks later, began to enter people's vision.

But "hard fruit candy" is undoubtedly the light of "good night, good luck". All the signs and all the evidence are showing that the latter is constantly refreshing its attention, and even members of Congress have begun to discuss the meaning of this movie.

As time passed, the momentum of "Good Night, Good Luck" not only did not ease, but further heated up due to the preview of sixty-eight theaters on the second week. In this week, "Good Night, Good Luck" officially landed on the Art Cinema in New York. As George's friend, Lance kept his promise and appeared at the Landmark Cinema at the first time to watch this highly praised movie.

The reporters were waiting at the entrance of the theater early, hoping that Lance could express his views as soon as possible, and perhaps also talk about "Fruit Hard Candy" or "Crazy Max 4". More than fifty reporters were guarding the entrance of the theater just to wait for a "audience" to evaluate the movie. Such a grand occasion was really ridiculous, but it happened.

However, the reporters were destined to be disappointed, or used as surprise and surprise to describe it more accurately. Lance, who was chatting and laughing before entering the cinema, had a solemn and weird expression after watching the movie. He just politely dealt with the media, expressed his love for the movie, and then hurriedly left the cinema.

What happened? Doesn’t Lance like “Good night, good luck”?
