517 Virus propaganda

"Lily, Lily.☆→" Andy's call was a little annoying now. Emerson patted Andy's head unhappy. Andy whined and shouted, "Don't hit, don't hit, I've found out, I mean the truth." After finally letting Emerson stop, Andy gasped and said quickly, "Right, I mean the right, the right side of the page."

Lily looked over and realized that on the right side of the head of the page, "Welcome to the City of Sin", there was indeed a three-dimensional black building, just like a toy model embedded on the page, but it was black, completely integrated with the background color, and only a layer of light golden halo was faintly seen outlining the outline.

It is low-key and exquisite. You can see the hard work of design artists at just a glance, and only truly careful people can see it. Such publicity methods seem unique - as if you are worried that too many people will know about it.

Lily clicked in and saw a brand new page. The sentence at the beginning of the page changed a little, adding a word "your" between "Welcome to" and "City of Sin". There are still twelve skulls in the center of the page, and the first two are also painted with forks, but they are mustard yellow.

When I clicked on the first one, I found that there was nothing in it, only an empty black page; Lily was stunned for a moment, then went backwards, and when I clicked on the second one, it was still blank.

"What's going on? Is the page not finished yet?" someone next to him asked curiously.

"No!" Lily, Andy and Emerson said in unison, which scared the person behind him. Although the website looks very simple and has little content, he must be prepared when adding new content. They all believe that Lance is definitely not a targetless person.

"Above, above." Emerson saw something, patted Lily on the shoulder, and pointed to the bottom of the line "Welcome to your Sin City" on the screen. A row of weapon options was added, with three weapons, guns, swords and a pair of iron hands, with very exquisite designs. This is not seen on the homepage.

Lily quickly moved the mouse and looked at it. The mouse was placed on the weapon and a dialog box was displayed, "Create your sin city, write your character stories, smear your artistic talents, and upload your real life." Guns represent videos, swords represent photos, and iron hands represent comics.

"I get it!" Emerson's eyes lit up. "Lance is to let us create the story background of the characters, present our understanding of the characters, or find the commonalities between us and the characters, create our lives into videos or photos, and upload them to the website. Simply put, it is to build a sin city in our minds, and combine comic stories with real life!"

Everyone around was still confused and felt that Emerson seemed to be in a tongue twister.

Emerson couldn't help but be anxious and pushed Andy aside. Andy caught him off guard and rolled down like a gourd, shouting depressedly, "Hey!" But Emerson didn't care at all and stood in front of everyone, "For example, Nancy's story, have you ever read the original comics? Nancy was almost kidnapped when she was a child. Although she was able to escape, she later became a undresser and became a undresser. Now, Lance lets us create Nancy's story based on our own ideas, our own experiences, or our own resonance, so that the character can be full. You can use videos, photos, and comics; you can be a story, a clip, or just a scene like Nancy's trailer."

"I understand! It's just pretending that we are part of the Sin City and then telling our stories. When uploading to the website, it can be classified, such as the story similar to Nancy, or like..." Lily spoke, and she looked down at the second skull, "Muffer's story. Others think that Muffer is a vicious person, but in fact it's just his appearance. He is extremely kind inside, but he was forced into a dead end step by step by step by step by others and killed many people."

"I think in the trailer of Muffer just now, why can't the blood be his family? The whole world betrayed Muffer, but he can't care. But in the end, even his family treated him as a monster and wanted to force him to death. In despair, he killed all his family with his own hands." Andy sat up, forgot the pain in his butt, and said excitedly, "It's like Quasimodo."

The words of Andy and Lily immediately made more than a dozen people around him furious. These college students were already in their youthful and passionate time and were full of various views on life. Especially since they had just left school and started to contact society, they had infinite ambitions for the future, but they began to gradually understand the dark side of society, and wanted to change the world with enthusiasm, while at the same time they were filled with righteous indignation because of the darkness of society.

Whether it is the story of Nancy or Muffer, they can immediately think of their own life, or even their own personal experiences, and the thoughts in their minds can't wait to start to collide violently.

Emerson had other ideas, "Lily, do you remember? The topic I created in the eleventh grade, about campus violence?"

"Of course I remember!" Lily's eyes immediately lit up, "Are you saying, let's move that topic out again and make it our sin city?"

Campus violence in the United States is world-famous. Whether it is direct violence of physical conflict or cold violence of verbal mockery, it is everywhere on campus. The plots shown in movies and TV series all come from life, such as excluding unsociable and withdrawn classmates to the trash can for lunch, such as rugby players stuffing math nerds into the closet, and for example, ridicule the masculine minority in the classroom corridor.

Especially cold violence. Depression, suicide, and excessive violence caused by cold violence on campus remain high every year. Serious circumstances even trigger victims to shoot guns on campus—and far more than one.

For many students, the campus is their sin city, some are Nancy, some are Muffer, and some are... Lily suddenly began to wonder who will be the next announced character.

Emerson nodded repeatedly, "We can shoot it into a video. It doesn't need to be too complicated. Just need everyone to appear on the camera and show their own wounds, which is enough."

"Then use black and white pictures!" Andy also ran over, looking eager to try.

"Jesus! You guys say, what kind of tricks are Lance playing this time?" Lily could hardly control her excitement, and said with a trembling voice, "What style did he shoot the movie this time? Have you seen those trailers? The style is so special that you have never seen it before."

"I don't know, but what I know is that this time, we will work with Lance to create the same world!" Emerson's eyes flashed with excitement.

As a result, a group of college students who were enjoying spring break became the first people to respond to the "City of Sin". Later, when online platforms and viral videos had become common means of film propaganda, people carefully recalled the process of history, and then realized that although online propaganda began earlier and "City of God" had achieved remarkable results using this method, the real power of the "City of Sin".

Not only major film companies in Hollywood, but also not only news media practitioners, but more importantly, those professional researchers in cultural communication and media use realized for the first time that the Internet has become an irreplaceable part of the new century, and thus promoted the rapid development of the new media major. Ten years later, the new media major has become an indispensable part of the journalism major, but who would have thought that it was originally derived from the application of the film industry.

When Chloe Moore, a junior majoring in film at Columbia University, noticed the lively Internet, it was already ten days later. Chloe looked at the mass communication professor standing on the podium in a surprised manner, feeling that he could not keep up with the speed of changes of the times.

"In just ten days, the website received more than 1,200 videos, and it is said that most of them are from young people aged 16 to 30. Of course, there is no official authoritative data at present, so it is still to be discussed. However, it is worth noting that this is just a means of promotion for a movie, but now it has led a trend, just like a virus spreading rapidly. The website's views have exceeded 10 million, and the average click rate of ten trailers has exceeded 2 million. This trend has spread from the Internet to people's real lives, not just traditional media such as TV stations, radio stations, newspapers, etc., including People's Daily

The topics of frequent chats are focused on this matter. From the perspective of mass communication, this is a case that can be called a myth, and all the links are perfect; but further in-depth research can be found that the enthusiasm of netizens to interact far exceeds imagination, and 1,200 videos have created a new record of netizens participating in major portals. So, why? What is the special nature of the participating groups? What is the inspiration for the news media? This is our topic this week. I hope you can freely form a group and write a research report. The group needs at least three people, and no more than eight people are allowed to be published in three weeks."

Chloe sat in her position, her head was already in a state of crash. Wait, what happened? Why did a movie called "City of Sin" become the subject of her research on the subject? Why did she hear the news now on this movie directed by Lance? Why did she only know about it today as a film student?
