049 A win-win situation

Martin put the camera aside, leaned over and looked at Javier's laptop screen, and couldn't help but sigh, "One million readings? It's so crazy!" Even if he saw it, Martin, who was born in traditional media, could not believe that new media such as the so-called "blog" actually had such a great influence.

Javier knocked the last stop, saved it on his computer, and was about to wait until he got home, and then connected to the Internet before sending his diary today. A smile naturally appeared on his face, "If you told me a month ago that my blog diary could be read by 100,000 people, I would tell you that you were crazy. But... the world of the Internet is so magical, isn't it? Maybe there is a reason why the Millennium Worm did not destroy the world."

A month ago, Javier and Martin decided to change the direction of reporting and follow up on "City of God", presenting a real slum.

As expected, the Brazilian Globe nodded readily and agreed to the proposal, but Javier's proposal was directly rejected by the New York Times.

First, there was no physical conflict, second, there was no real kidnapping, and third, there was no gimmick highlight. This was almost a small incident where "an American crew broke into friction with local residents on the set". Not to mention the "New York Times", even some ordinary newspapers were unwilling to publish it.

Javier's direct editor said simply, "Don't think about it before the bloodshed happens."

In the desperate situation, Javier proposed a proposal to report through a blog, but unfortunately he was shot. The direct editor gave the answer, "You can write it yourself, and it is also allowed to hang the name of an extradition reporter from the 'New York Times'. It is impossible to want the newspaper to promote or publish it for you."

Javier once decided to give up - this is a special topic that is destined to be unable to be published, an independent act without any income, and a dead end where there is no result. Javier is not a naughty young man who has just left the society, he doesn't like daydreaming.

However, Lance's striking eyes once again appeared in Javier's mind. He had a strange intuition, similar to the journalist's intuition and the mysterious sixth sense. He felt that he should write this topic. Because even if he didn't write this topic, he had no other job at hand.

In the end, Javier made the most important decision to change his career: to open a blog and write a shooting diary of "City of God" for free.

However, as time progressed, the direction of reporting between Javier and Martin changed.

Martin still followed the original plan and gradually went deep into the crew and slums. Through the crew's shooting, the true face of the City of God was revealed bit by bit, so that people could have the opportunity to understand the real life here. The "Brazil Globe" opened a column for Martin, not only limited to the City of God, but also Martin's footsteps began to gradually visit several large slums near Rio de Janeiro. This column became very popular and triggered heated discussions in Brazil, which made the sales of the "Brazil Globe" steadily rise. In the past two weeks, it has occupied the throne of the domestic newspaper sales champion in Brazil for a long time.

Javier found that life in slums in Brazil was not attractive to North America because these were two worlds. His reports began to gradually develop towards the shooting process of the "City of God" crew, focusing on the situation and process of the crew shooting here. At the beginning, Javier reported and explained from the perspective of a reporter; but soon, Javier changed his angle, and he observed, experienced and recorded from the perspective of an ordinary bystander.

This was the first time in many years that Javier had left his identity as a "reporter" to truly enjoy the joy of reporting the truth and recording the facts. This made him return to college in a daze.

Javier's move unexpectedly attracted attention to the blog, not only because Javier gradually unveiled the mystery of the film crew, but also because Javier completely integrated into the "City of God" crew, and went deep into the slums with this independent crew, going deep into the lives of local residents, facing difficulties, facing challenges, and dealing with crises, showing all the styles inside and outside the "City of God" crew, as well as the exotic style of Brazil. Surprisingly, life in Brazil's slums has gradually won more attention.

In the first three days, Javier's blog had no visitors; in the first ten days, there were only a few hundred people, and it was deserted and almost like a real diary - only Javier himself was talking to himself. But as time progressed, the number of viewers on the blog began to increase, and it ushered in a big explosion in the past five days. The number of views has exceeded one million. This is the miracle of the Internet era.

Especially three days ago, in order to commemorate the September 11 incident, Javier wrote a special article to commemorate the journal. The diary was written more than 10,000 words. This was also the first time that Javier truly went deep into the soul of the work "City of God" to discuss the problems in this slum and the crimes caused by the world's poverty and backwardness. He expressed all his experiences over the past month, his views on the original novels and adapted movies, and his feelings during the contact with Lance.

This blog post alone won 200,000 views in three days. It was really amazing!

What's even more exaggerated is that with the strong rise of Javier's blog, the work "City of God" which is still under shooting has become a hot topic. The sales of the original novel "City of God" increased by 130,000 in just two weeks, successfully entering the top ten sales list of major bookstores; and the discussion of "City of God" has far exceeded expectations, and the report of the "San Francisco Chronicle" has been considered outdated, and some radio programs have long discussed this work during the live broadcast.

This was definitely an unimaginable result before the Internet appeared!

"Before leaving this morning, my editor called." Javier put his laptop down and turned to look at Martin. Martin was stunned, as if he had expected Javier's next words, and the joy between his eyebrows could not wait to emerge. "He said that my report three days ago will be published in today's 'New York Times', the entire page! The manuscript fee has been transferred to my account."

"Yeah! It's great, it's great!" Martin clenched his fists happily, almost losing his voice, but under Javier's reminder, he still controlled his emotions. Martin would not forget that this is the crew. If they ruined the crew's shooting, Lance would mercilessly drive them out of the crew - they had experienced this treatment personally.

Compared to Martin, Javier seemed very calm. The opportunity he had always dreamed of came, but he was not as excited and excited as he imagined. "He also said that if my manuscripts can maintain such quality next time, the newspaper would consider continuing to publish them from time to time, which is an informal column." Even with such great news, Javier was still very calm.

Martin also realized Javier's calmness, and he patted Javier on the shoulder, "What's wrong? This is good news, why do you look unhappy at all? Are there any additional conditions?"

"No, no." Javier shook his head and let out a long sigh. "I was just thinking that when I decided to open this blog, I seemed to have known that the day had arrived. I always seemed to have such confidence."

Martin noticed Javier's gaze, turned his head and looked over, and then saw the man who was busy. Martin smiled, "Maybe you are right, we have never been the real winner, he is."

"He has such charm and courage, right?" Javier chuckled, but there was a different idea in his eyes: Maybe he should switch from social news to entertainment news, follow the man and move forward together, so will the scenery he sees be different?

Javier's eyes refocused and condensed on Lance again. He noticed that Lance stood there, shook his head, waved at the actors around him, and several actors gathered around Lance. Javier immediately stood up, "Lance is going to communicate with the actors."

Javier and Martin immediately walked over quickly. He could vaguely guess that there should be something wrong with the shooting process, and now Lance needs to start solving the problem.

As he approached, Javier felt the tension of the atmosphere around him. The children and actors gathered around Lance, but they didn't dare to breathe. They just lowered their chins slightly, raised their eyes, and looked at Lance in embarrassment and fear. The silence with a little noisy made the air hotter.

Javier realized that the problem seemed a bit serious.

The problem is indeed very serious! Lance is thinking about how to communicate with these non-professional actors. On the one hand, Lance hopes that they can show their true side, and even the acting is a bit deliberate or artificial, it is acceptable, but it can outline the realism of the documentary - after all, many people who participate in the documentary shooting are ordinary people, and they will be more or less nervous in front of the camera; but on the other hand, Lance needs them to be able to accurately express some situations, and the movie script and real life are still different, and the main storyline also has its own rhythm.

This is a contradictory situation, and Lance's task is to rely on his own abilities and understanding to help these unprofessional children actors enter the state and achieve their goals. However, this is too difficult.
