032 lingering fear

After watching the gangsters leave, Donald looked back at the chaos in the house and waved his hand to greet him, "Quick, we must leave quickly. Judging from the situation just now, it should be the two gangs fighting, and things must not end so soon." Donald said, then walked over quickly, allowing Percy and the other three to leave the house quickly. At the same time, he squatted down in front of the mistress of the house and said in Portuguese, "Sorry for the chaos we brought, thank you for lending us the house to avoid."

After saying that, Donald pulled out three of the remaining dollars in his hand and stuffed them into the middle-aged woman's hand. The middle-aged woman seemed to want to refuse, but Donald shook his head firmly, then stood up and turned away without giving the other party a space to refuse.

Donald found that Lance was still standing at the door waiting for him, and patted Lance on the shoulder, saying that he had already arranged it and could leave smoothly. However, Lance did not move his steps. When he looked back, Donald found that Lance's gaze was looking towards the room on his left. He knew that the children were hiding in that room.

At this time, all the children hiding in the room came out one after another, with a total of six, plus the young girl holding a rag doll, only seven. However, Lance did not see the male owner in this family, and I don’t know if he was going out to work or there were other situations.

Lance's eyes were on the boy. He just now covered the little one's mouth and blocked the crying sound. The boy was wearing a striped T-shirt with a clear look, but with a hint of restraint. He looked at Lance secretly with no further action, but just blocked his younger brothers and sisters behind him.

"Next Monday, there will be a short-term job application at the Atlantic Hotel. If you are interested, you can go and have a look."

Lance's voice broke the silence inside, and the eyes looked at Lance blankly, including the boy. However, Lance did not continue to explain. After saying that, he turned around, patted Donald's arm, and took a step straight.

Walking out of the house, the streets and playgrounds outside returned to calm. A group of children appeared again on the playground, chasing a football, several women were wearing dirty clothes to clean together, and the elderly man with eyes closed on the roadside enjoyed the leisure of sunbathing peacefully... Everything was so peaceful and so normal, as if the chaotic gun battle just now had never happened. Everyone took it for granted.

Such a scene makes people feel like they are a different world, but also a chilling shock.

Donald stopped at the door for a while, looked at everyone in the room in confusion, and then quickly caught up with Lance, "What's going on?"

"I just think there is a role that suits the boy very well." Lance took his eyes from the people around him who returned to daily life, and simply replied that he did not express his true thoughts in his heart. Perhaps giving the boy a job and a chance to observe the outside world would be more useful than giving the boy a sum of money. Lance saw the clearness in his eyes that was not polluted by this slum. "However, we still have to see if he has the courage to appear on the audition site."

Donald is not qualified to intervene in the casting of the actors, so he didn't plan to ask more questions. He nodded and understood, "So, do you still insist on planning to start shooting in the City of God?"

Lance shook his head, "Every day, there is a danger of shooting being interrupted. The loss is too great, and we don't have such a big budget." Donald was stunned. He vaguely realized something was wrong with this sentence, but he couldn't say the reason, "Donald?"

Donald was awakened by the voice and turned to look at Lance, saying that his attention had returned to his senses. Lance had to repeat his words, "As far as I know, there are several slums near the City of God, right?"

Donald nodded, "There are three slums around here, much smaller than here, so overall there is not that messy or dangerous."

"Then let's go over and check it out and see which location is more suitable." In order to ensure the authenticity of the movie, the atmosphere and environment of the shooting site are very important. Since the City of God is really too chaotic and it is impossible to shoot, so we can only settle for the second best.

The group successfully left the City of God, and then led by Donald, headed towards another slum just across the street.

After experiencing the struggles on the line of life and death, the imminent danger deeply shocked everyone, and it was difficult to come back to their senses for a long time, and even Donald was no exception. Although Donald is a Brazilian, he has been active in the film field over the years, far from the life of the slums at the bottom. After years of comfort, the feeling of hanging his head on the belt has become unfamiliar.

Except Lance.

At least, Donald did not see any flaws in Lance's expression. Lance seemed to have quickly left the thrill of the past behind and devoted himself to the next few slums. The sparseness and calmness between his eyebrows made people feel an illusion, as if he was terrified in that moment, just a dream.

The next trip seemed a little silent. Even Albert, a familiar chatterer, closed his mouth, and for a moment, it seemed as if everyone was practicing banning words and practiced, and he was moving forward silently. However, when needed, Lance would take the initiative to walk forward and ask the locals about some situations. After getting the information he needed, he fell into silence again and continued to move forward.

It was not until sunset that they dragged their tired bodies back to the Atlantic Hotel where they were staying. Lance looked at his listless companions and shook his head, "You go back and have a good rest first. Today is just the beginning."

"Lance, you also know that today is just the first day, and it gave us a shocking education." Albert said weakly, obviously still in fear.

"It seems that some people are not capable of doing this job." The person who spoke was not Lance, but Percy, who was standing next to him, said with a calm look on his face.

This made Albert so angry that his teeth were itchy, "Your performance was not much better just now!"

"At least I'm not as weak as I can't walk." Percy was not showing any weakness.

Hayden stood beside him and looked at Lance in shock, but Lance didn't care at all, so he turned around and left... Looking at Lance who was walking back to the room, then looked at Albert and Percy who were still quarreling. Hayden decided to protect himself and quietly left this place of right and wrong.

Back at the room, Donald sat down with Lance to discuss, "So, have you decided? Which slum will you shoot next?"

There are three slums around the City of God, one with a name, and the other two without a name, but they are only attached to the City of God. Lance felt that the first slum was very suitable. The whole environment, atmosphere and feeling were very close to the City of God, but it seemed a little more deserted there. Many houses were still empty and no one moved in, which was relatively safer, and even fewer thieves.

This is a good thing for the crew.

However, Lance did not answer directly, but walked to the bedside table and searched, found a piece of chocolate left in the hotel room. Then he walked back to the sofa with satisfaction and sat down, "No matter where I decided, the initiative is not with me, right?"

Donald chuckled and asked, "This is what you should know before you prepare for this movie, right?"

Lance did not comment.

Filming in and around the City of God, you must obtain the consent of the **, otherwise it is impossible to start the filming. Donald came to Rio de Janeiro in advance and was busy with this matter. He managed the channels between the government and the ** to ensure that the shooting of the "City of God" can be completed smoothly.

Donald found a worn-out note from his pocket and handed it to Lance, "I wrote an English translation on the back. Many people said they couldn't understand my Portuguese writing." Lance put the chocolate in his mouth and then uncovered the note and read it. Donald explained at the same time, "They need us to formulate a detailed charter, including the time when the vehicle enters their management area and the time when it leaves. In order to avoid the gangster robbery, it is best that the vehicle needs to move and the route, and we can also report these things in advance. We must update these two days in advance. You need to find someone who is responsible for this work."

Lance lit his chin slightly to indicate that he understood. This is why the crew needed Albert.

"Then, we plan to screen actors in the slums, and there will inevitably be real gang members. Therefore, they will send people to audition. After the audition is passed, they will review it and then select the final extras. Including the actors' pay, working hours, etc., all of them need to formulate a contract in black and white..."

When Lance heard this, he raised his head in surprise. He didn't know that Brazil's ** valued the law so much and even asked to draft a contract.

Donald smiled awkwardly, "Because they have group activities every once in a while, they need to ensure the number of people and no one is absent. You know, for them, the human-sea tactics are very important." Lance couldn't help but be surprised. He really didn't expect that the real purpose behind the contract constraints was like this - worrying that the crew would not let people go during group activities?

This... is really innovative.

Lance nodded, "This is my wish. Although I know that the contract does not have any restraint on them,..." Lance shrugged, as if saying, "at least there is a psychological comfort." He put the note on the table, "For the detailed situation, wait until I meet these big guys and have a face-to-face conversation."
