022 Set sail

Ryan Cavalug's face was so gloomy that water could almost drip out. He looked at George Clooney sitting in front of him with a deep look. His hands were clenched under the desk and then slowly let go. The gray layer covering his cheeks slowly dissipated. "You must give me an explanation. Didn't you say that all situations are under control? If the current situation is what you call 'control', that would be a funny joke." Even though Ryan tried his best to control his emotions, the anger and sarcasm in his words still irresistible.

Not only did Lance not sign a contract, he refused to give up the copyright of the adaptation of six novels; he also established a brand new company, Chaos Pictures. Although Lance has always kept a low profile and did not promote it with great fanfare, Ryan, who closely paid attention to Lance's every move, got the news as soon as possible. This means that Lance has officially declared war, and Diorama Pictures will inevitably face the impact of Chaos Pictures in the future!

Even though Chaos Pictures is just a newly established company now, Ryan definitely doesn't want to see such a situation!

George looked at Ryan who pretended to be calm in front of him, without any nervousness, but smiled, "Ryan, haven't you noticed it? As long as you mention Lance's matter, you will pay special attention..." George obviously did not finish his words, but he clicked until the meaningful look seemed to be saying, "Are you afraid?"

Ryan only felt a sudden affliction surge, but he couldn't vent it. This feeling was really bad.

When he mentioned it to Tucker Toure this morning, Tucker was the same, and he laughed at his worries without any hesitation, "Ryan, you are really scared by Lance. If he is really that powerful, then he is the one who stands here, not us."

George crossed his hands, calmly placed it on the table, leaning forward slightly, "Every time in Hollywood, new companies will appear, and everyone wants to cut a piece of this big cake, but not everyone can succeed." A trace of disdain flashed in George's eyes, "If Lance joins Warner Bros. or Disney, this is what we need to worry about. But he chose to recreate the company, and we all know what this means."

Failure means failure to seek death. Running a company is different from making a movie. Simply put, when the film is completed, it requires multiple links such as distribution, sales, and publicity to complete the profit, while the company also needs management, planning and operation. These are two completely different things. Lance has no talent in running a company, which is a fact, whether in the past or now.

Ryan's pupils slightly closed, and his surging emotions gradually calmed down, regaining his usual calmness.

George leaned back to the back of the chair and relaxed his shoulders. "You know the importance of the work better than me. Now the resources in Lance's hands are not comparable to those in your hands. Focusing on the development of Diorama Film, this is the most important thing." George paused for a moment, and all the momentum in his body restrained, and he put on a humble and low posture. "Next, I still have many places to rely on you. I can't wait to see the scene of Diorama Film taking a step forward."

After saying that, George stood up calmly, buttoned up his suit, bent down to greet Ryan again, and then turned around and left the office. Every detail of the action deliberately showed that he was just a guest, and Ryan was the owner of the place.

Ryan leaned heavily toward the back of the chair, and his whole body was trapped in the soft cushion.

Lance currently has only six novels in his hands - six non-English novels that are not worthy of attention. Even if they are adapted into movies, the difficulties of the process and the bleak prospects are predictable. Originally, Ryan wanted to eliminate the roots and refused to give Lance any opportunity to take advantage of, so he attached so much importance to it.

But on the other hand, if Lance had made up his mind, even if it wasn't for those six novels, Lance would have been able to use his connections to find other projects. In this way, compared to the uncertainty of the unknown project, the six novels that could be thrown into the garbage dump are completely known, at least Ryan could be sure that Lance could not make any waves.

What's more, George has a saying that he must now focus on the script of "Lost Tokyo".

Warner Bros. officially rejected the cooperation proposal for "Lost Tokyo". What's worse is that Sophia has no room for negotiation for on-site shooting in Tokyo. Due to Ryan's hesitant attitude, she directly started to contact other independent production companies. All of this was the sequelae of the funeral, but Ryan could not get angry with Sophia, nor could he blame Barry Meyer for remorse at the last moment. He could only break his teeth and swallow it in his stomach.

Now, he must firmly grasp the "Lost Tokyo" plan and do whatever it takes!

Ryan decided to temporarily let Lance make trouble in Africa and Latin America, and he could not imagine that he could do anything; while he himself had to devote all his energy to "Lost Tokyo", which was not just a work, but also maintained the connections of the entire Coppola family.

At the same time, Lance was in trouble.

Chaos Film was established very smoothly. Theo and Ian took over all the things. Lance just sat at home and was responsible for signing, and a brand new film production company was created.

The company's capital injection was jointly completed by the four brothers of Strello, with the first batch of capital injections reaching 3.5 million US dollars! Gao Wen, who was rich, took out 1.5 million US dollars in one breath, and Lance cleared all the activity funds in his bank account and injected 800,000 US dollars. Although the four brothers can be said to have achieved some success in their careers, the flexible funds that can be taken out in one breath are limited after all. Lance has even been prepared to borrow from the bank or seek venture capital investment. Unexpectedly, Chaos Pictures was established so smoothly, and the injected funds far exceeded Lance's expectations.

After Chaos Pictures was established, Lance devoted all his energy to the preparations for "City of God", but as soon as the work began, it hit a wall - the director was poached.

"City of God" and "Lost Tokyo" are both works with a very distinct directorial style. The difference is that the latter incorporates the director's personal thoughts, more like an autobiography; the former incorporates the director's skills and perspectives, sharp editing, full shots and neat rhythms, all of which belong to the director's credit. More importantly, the director perfectly combines the actor's performance with the story, which creates a classic.

Therefore, Lance did not hesitate to target Fernando Meirelles, director on the historical trajectory of "City of God".

The talented Fernando is now a well-known independent director in Brazil, but all his works are concentrated in advertisements and short films. His feature film debut "Home" was just released last year, and it has not received much response in Brazil. Not to mention in mainland North America, he can be said to be unknown.

Originally, Lance thought it was very simple to find Fernando to direct "City of God", but after investigation, it was found that Fernando had left Brazil and came to the United States. He is currently preparing two works, a mini TV series and a Brazilian movie. The target of Fernando's collaboration is the famous Focus Pictures!

This really caught Lance off guard. Not to mention that Fernando has no schedule to shoot another work at the moment. Even if his schedule is free, Focus Pictures will never let Lance poach.

Knowing this, Lance never gave up easily. He visited Fernando three times, but none of them could impress the Brazilian director. In desperation, Lance could only make preparations, while looking for other suitable directors, while continuing to launch a tough battle, hoping to impress Fernando with sincerity.

"City of God" just launched a project and encountered a sniper attack. Things were indeed a bit tricky, but Lance was not discouraged at all. Instead, he became more motivated to be in the preparation and establishment of the crew.

"Lance, there are only twenty minutes left before the agreed time, we must set off." Percy waited at the door for a while, but found that Lance still did not appear, so he had to turn around and shout.

Lance stood in the living room, flipping through the information in his hand, and a hint of surprise mixed with joy appeared between his eyebrows. He turned to Percy and pointed to the file box in front of him, "Where did you get these things?"

"Uh... it seems like a pile of files in a dust-stacked folder. I'm not sure whether it's important, so I put it together and wait until you read it carefully before deciding whether to throw it away." Percy looked at the box and posted a "uncertain" label on it.

Lance raised his eyebrows and said softly, "It's important, it's even more important."

The information in Lance's hand is a first draft of the script "Good Night, Good Luck", which is completely written by Lance himself. Although it is not complete, this draft is enough to prove that the copyright of the script "Good Night, Good Luck" should have a seat belonging to Lance. This also means that Lance can not only file a lawsuit, sue George for plagiarism or possession of copyright, but also has a very high chance of winning.

Lance originally thought that this matter could not be reversed because George had registered the copyright and he could not provide evidence, but now things are changing, and the initiative of the advantage quietly returned to Lance. More importantly, George didn't know this, and Ryan didn't know it either.

Now, the only thing Lance needs to consider is whether he filed a lawsuit now, causing George and Ryan to be in a hurry? Or will it ruin George after the movie is released? This is a very interesting question.

The joking smile on the corner of Lance's mouth flashed, and he put the materials back into the box again and took a step towards the door, "Let's go, today is a good day, and there are many big things waiting for us to do!"
