116 Preliminary exploration of brokers

Terence Cox looked about forty years old. He looked like a silver suit with a light blue shirt and a shiny bald head made him look energetic and confident. He was holding a pair of black super sunglasses in his hand and stood wide with his feet. The appearance of a successful Wall Street person was overwhelmed.

"As early as March, a friend of mine recommended me to watch the 'City of God', but due to busy work, I haven't entered the cinema for nearly half a year, so I haven't been able to do it. Now that the movie has been offline, it's a pity. I hope the videotape of the movie can be launched as soon as possible so that I can have the opportunity to enjoy it."

The words are like bullets, full of confidence, ups and downs, and do not deliberately flatter, but use some small details to make the words real and credible. Just a meeting makes people feel good.

"This really makes me feel a little flattered. People who don't know think that the 'Lord' is my work." Lance's answer was humorous and wise, which made Terence laugh, and his generous appearance added a touch of domineering spirit.

"You two should be more restrained, this is a public place." George, who was standing beside him, looked a little restrained, with a helpless smile on his face.

Terence raised his hands, surrendered, and showed an innocent expression, "I just think that Lance is indeed a conversation expert, and he had been busy with Jay Renault. The 'Tonight Show' has not been so exciting for a long time. After meeting today, it was indeed the case." Unintentionally, Terence gave Lance another high hat.

George turned to Lance, "Look, you have another admirer." The teasing voice was still a little helpless, and then he suddenly flashed a trace of enlightenment, as if he remembered something, "By the way, Lance, aren't you not yet an agent? Terence is a top agent, maybe he can give you some advice."

broker?

Lance showed a look of surprise and his eyes were in contact with Terence. Terence also opened his eyes unexpectedly, "Are you kidding me? You don't have an agent? I thought that after the 'City of God' won attention at the Sundance Film Festival, you no longer supply it." The agency contract is no longer supplying.

Lance shrugged and chuckled, "Maybe everyone is overestimating the influence of independent films. I'm not Joel Cohen."

"So, are you Quentin Tarantino?" Terence said casually and made everyone chuckled again. Then he took out the business card box from his pants pocket. "That's it. If you have any questions about the agent, please contact me. We can discuss it further. I am still very confident about this part."

Lance politely took Terence's business card and said with a smile, "Please don't miss any phone number."

This made Terence laugh again, and he patted George on the back, "Although I really hope to sit down and continue talking to you, I still have work in my hand now, and I have to leave after going in and get a cup of coffee. So, I hope we can sit down and have a good talk next time." Terence looked at Reims again, "Especially to experience the feeling of Jay Renault, that should be wonderful."

The three of them exchanged greetings again, and then Terence turned around and entered the coffee house with great strides.

After watching Terence leave, George and Lance sat down again. George took the initiative to say, "He is a top agent," Lance looked down at the business card. The innovative artist agency, the top spot among the five major Hollywood agencies, has not been able to shake its dominance for ten years. "He has strong abilities, outstanding communication skills, and impressive operational abilities."

"Your agent?" Lance raised his eyebrows and asked directly.

George found Lance looking straight at him. His sharp eyes, like a knife, made him feel a little slap, but the feeling was fleeting. In just a blink of an eye, he found that Lance was still looking straight at him, but the blue eyes were soft and clear.

"No, no." George shook his head and paused involuntarily. "He is Steven Soderbergh's agent, and Terry Gilliam. I heard that he went to New York this time, with the goal of winning Woody Allen. I forgot to ask him just now, but judging from his performance, he should have succeeded."

Obviously, the three names mentioned by George are very representative, with a strong personality, distinctive style and talent. They may not be a big shot at the box office in North America, but they are definitely important characters worth mentioning in all types of subject matter. Terence's style and ability can be seen.

In fact, this is not the first agent Lance has met in recent times. Thanks to the outstanding performance of "City of God" in the past few months, Lance's ability as a director and screenwriter has been recognized, and has truly entered Hollywood and become a member of the industrial chain.

Unlike producers who can handle their jobs themselves, directors, screenwriters, and actors all need to deal with film companies, negotiate contracts, box office dividends, interest competition, power games, etc., as well as work contacts, miscellaneous matters, media public relations, etc., all of these things need to be handled by agents.

This is not a necessary choice, but it is the right choice.

Because a person's energy is limited after all, and a person's abilities are limited. Agents can not only share these jobs, but also they are more professional and know how to deal with large companies. The rich resources in their hands can also receive more work for artists.

Lance has always only Percy as an assistant, but the assistant handles chores in life, and the agent still needs to be responsible for the trivial matters at work. Not to mention that the agent needs a professional license, there are also significant gaps in related business abilities. Therefore, in the past period, three agents have contacted Lance and recommended themselves, hoping to become Lance's agent. Terence is the fourth.

Is Terence's appearance really a coincidence today? Or is it George deliberately arranged? If so, what does this mean? They have realized that the success of "City of God" is irreversible, so are they looking for an agent to control their actions? No, this is not a high possibility because the agent is also interests first and cannot sacrifice his own interests to serve others. So, what is the role of the agent? Is it monitoring his own work trends?

Countless possibilities were rolling in my mind, but Lance quickly controlled his thoughts and smiled at George without any scheming, "I didn't expect that it was time for me to use the agent, which was unexpected."

George couldn't help but laugh, "As you work more and more, you will need an agent."

Lance raised the business card in his hand and said with a smile, "Maybe I should call him." While speaking, George's gaze paused, which made Lance raise his eyebrows and show a look of surprise. This made George smile embarrassedly, "I was distracted for a moment." Obviously, George was also well aware of the way to stop. After Lance accepted the business card, he did not rush to persuade him, which led to "distracted".

Lance turned his head and looked over George's gaze. He saw nothing unusual on the street, "So, did you see your date tonight?" His gaze swept around the crowd, trying to find a woman who fits George's aesthetic.

"I don't want to break the law." George couldn't help laughing and said directly. He pointed to Lance, "I'm looking at that little loli, she seems to be in some trouble."

Only then did Lance notice that next to the street light, a little loli was waiting for something with her backpack on her backpack. Next to her was a middle-aged man in a shirt standing two steps away, saying something excitedly, with a splash of mouth and passionate. But the little loli was indifferent and even seemed a little repulsive, and kept looking around, trying to find her guardian.

Lance raised his eyebrows slightly, "Maybe he met a child who was not interested in Hollywood, and not everyone envied Jodie Foster." Just a look, Lance felt that the man should be the agent, trying to convince the loli to sign the contract, and then enter Hollywood. His eyes fell on the loli, and he couldn't help but squint slightly, and looked at him for a few more times, as if he looked familiar.

The little loli was wearing a pink fluffy skirt, her hair was combed into two braids, and a sea-blue backpack on her back. She looked like a third-grade little princess, but in fact she was at least thirteen or four years old. Her slightly incongruous outfit did not make people laugh. Instead, she noticed her fair skin and watery big eyes. Although she still looks like a yellow-haired girl, she can't be said to be beautiful or cute, but she can vaguely see her potential for becoming a beauty after growing up.

However, child stars have always been too difficult to cultivate in Hollywood, mainly because they are prone to suddenly lose their direction after becoming famous at a young age, and there are countless cases of growing up and becoming disabled after growing up. Therefore, child stars are more short-term commodities, and brokers who know how to invest in long-term are unwilling to take over.

"What? Do you want to introduce her to Terence?" Lance didn't see a clue.

George smiled and bit his head, "No, I just think she seems to need some help." Just like George's image, he always doesn't mind giving help and supporting charity, especially in public.

Lance raised his eyebrows, "Maybe you can interrupt it." The teasing tone was obviously not very agreeable. First, it was now in broad daylight, and the little girl didn't seem to be annoyed; second, Lance didn't like to meddle in other people's business, especially in front of George.
