Chapter 657(1/5)

Both Thales and Zhan fell silent, and there were only two different breathing sounds in the confessional compartment.

"she left."

Zhan's voice came from the darkness.

"I know." Thales replied gloomily.

After several seconds, Zhan En's voice sounded again:

"Now, can we put aside our prejudices and have a good talk?"

Thales took a deep breath, adjusted his mood, and nodded:

"So, you didn't kill Moss, you just knew about his death in advance and then concealed it?"

"If I really want to kill that wine merchant, then I will let him go first and then give him a discounted cross-sea ticket," Zhan snorted coldly. "Even Judge Brennan can't comment."

Thales was silent for a while and sighed with mixed emotions:

"Before entering the city on the first day, I told Moss: If he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to do it. I'll find a reason to drive him away. Then there won't be so many things later. At least he won't die in prison for no reason."

Zhan snorted disdainfully.

"Can you stop being so kind-hearted and sentimental? Instead of pretending to be sad for a scumbag who doesn't deserve sympathy, it's better to consider what's behind his death."

But Thales interrupted him coldly:

"The phrase 'scum unworthy of sympathy' is not enough to defend us."

"No matter who Moss was or what he did during his lifetime, in the past few days, he was involved in our struggle and eventually died because of us. This is something we cannot ignore or escape."

Thales turned to Zhan in the dark:

"This has nothing to do with who he is, but with who we are."

But Zhan En also sneered.

"In such a struggle, there will always be collateral damage and the sacrifice of others. This is inevitable and normal. If you can't accept it," Duke Iris sarcastically said, "then it's best to quit the royal family immediately, give up the inheritance rights, and live in seclusion.

Shan Lin, no, just to be on the safe side, just commit suicide, so that no one will die because of you, Great Sage Thales."

Thales took a deep breath.

"I do not blame you."

"What?"

Thales shook his head and chuckled indifferently:

"There are three kinds of scum in this world, ordinary people and saints. And scum will always laugh at ordinary people: 'Since you can't stand scum, why don't you become a saint?'"

After the words fell, it was Zhan's turn to be silent this time.

But he quickly recovered and countered:

"That wine merchant, Moss, did you really tell him, 'If you don't want to, you can choose not to do it'?"

"yes."

"Yes, you gave him a choice," the Duke of Nan'an sneered, "but do you think he can still choose?"

Thales frowned.

"I know."

"Most people can't become saints," Zhan En exhaled, seeming to sigh, "especially when they find out that they can't even become ordinary people."

Thales was silent for a few seconds and hummed softly:

"Whatever you say."

The confessional fell silent again.

"How is my sister?"

Thales was startled:

"Who is it? You mean Xi Lai."

Thinking of what happened yesterday, Tails suddenly had a headache.

"It's 'Ms. Kevin Deere', don't call her by her name." Zhan warned him coldly.

"Oh, yes, Ms. Kevin Dill," Thales nodded perfunctorily in the dark, "She is very good, not bad, a good girl, very good..."

Zhan En turned his head suddenly, his eyes reflecting the cold light in the darkness.

A quote from Thales.

"I mean, well, actually she's not good, not good at all..."

Zhan En's eyes slowly narrowed in the darkness, but the coldness was stronger than before.

Thales hesitated again and surrendered helplessly:

"Well, I'd better not mention her."

Zhan was silent for a while.

"When did you meet her?"

"last night."

"You think I would believe it?"

"Well, it was actually a few days ago," Thales said helplessly, "I was 'chatting' with Sister Karabiyan, and your sister fell from the sky... Well, I asked her a hello."

"That time you asked me if there were any ghosts in Kongming Palace?"

Damn it, how could this guy remember so accurately?

Thales muttered softly: "Probably."

"Mrs. Smallpox Corpse?"

"Oh, so you know wait, why are you so skilled?"

"That's the lifting mechanism. I helped her install it before. What did you talk about?"

Facing Zhan's aggressive and probing questioning, Thales had to sigh deeply.

"No, I didn't say anything... Then there was the competition banquet last night. I swear, just like that, I had no other interactions with her. And I didn't mean to hide it from you, but, you know, for the sake of the overall situation

, for stability.”

At this point, Thales shrugged sarcastically:

"After all, who can guarantee that after I meet your sister, I will lose my temper and do something impulsive that may ruin your banquet and celebration that has never gone wrong for generations?"

"

Zhan was silent for a while.

"Repeating someone else's words in retaliation will only make you appear narrow-minded and petty."

"Little belly chicken intestines?"

Thales shook his head in disdain: "When you sent the vampires to hunt me down seven years ago, why didn't you think of this?"

"What about the battle banquet? What did she say to you?"

"Nothing, say hello again."

"You mean, you were hiding in the corner and whispering, and she asked you to help tie the back buckle, just to say hello?"

Thales had a headache again.

"Um, well, last night, she said, said..."

She said she was actually a spy sent by my father?

She said, "Send hello to me on behalf of the Kingdom's Secret Department?"

She also said, she wants me to be a real man?

Feeling that Zhan's gaze was getting sharper, Thales had no choice but to speak:

"Okay, she told a lot of ghost stories, such as Faceless Kirk, Lady Smallpox Corpse, Ghost Hand Princess, Soul Bone Yaco..."

"Jacques."

"What?

"It's the 'Soul Bone Jacques'," Zhan En said quietly, "It's a nursery rhyme about demonic cannibals, spread around the East China Sea Territory."

Thales sighed helplessly:

"Okay, Jacques. She also talked about the tricks of magic performances, close shots and distant shots, attention shifts, misdirection, etc. I don't understand them very well either."

"Wait!" Zhan's tone changed and his voice suddenly increased.

"What?"

"Misguided."
