Chapter 7 Disappearance

In the early morning, Roy was sleeping soundly in the warm bed, dreaming that after he had fought with a griffin, a high-level vampire, and a shadow elder, a mirror merchant with a hooked nose and a scaly head appeared in front of him.

Suddenly, a rush of door slap woke him up.

"Susie, Old Moore, if you have something urgent, open the door!" Roy struggled in cold sweat and got up, and saw his parents standing at the door with candles. The burly butcher opposite was frightened and his voice was trembling.

As the night wind gushed out of the door blew, he woke up completely from his confused state.

What exactly made the butcher who was swearing and slandering so incompetent? An answer flashed through Roy's heart.

"Uncle Fletcher, is there something wrong with Branton?" He put on his thin linen top and walked to the old couple.

Under the flames, the butcher's eyes were covered with blood, his lips were chapped, and he looked like an ant on a hot pan, anxious and haggard.

"That brat..." Fletcher lowered his head, holding the torch and his beard trembled slightly, "He is missing and has not returned home tonight."

"Have you found Mindy's family? Will Brandon sleep at the boy who plays with her?"

Roy took a deep breath and tried to keep his tone calm, "There is also the old captain's tavern, and he goes there occasionally."

"No one!" Fletcher shook his head, "I searched all of them and asked everyone! Since noon, no one in the village has seen him again. Although the brat is naughty, he has never been outside so late."

"Don't worry, Uncle Fletcher, think carefully about where he might go? Let's find someone with you!"

"Give me a rest at home honestly," Old Moore pressed Roy's shoulder, "Susie and I go out to help!"

"Dad, don't forget what job I've done this month? I've seen more blood than most people have seen in their lifetime. Isn't it just night? I'm not afraid." Roy's calm eyes turned on the old couple's face and pinched their hands, "Believe me, I will protect myself."

Old Moore and Susie exchanged glances, sighed, and nodded.

This month they felt their son's changes more and more clearly. Roy was no longer weak and introverted. He had his own ideas. As long as he made up his mind, he could not convince Roy with their temper and personality.

Several people rushed out of the yard together.

Fletcher shook his hand, "Thank you, kid."

Roy felt the intensity and nodded. He saw the other party's care for the past month, so he naturally would not sit idly by.

The little slug is the whole world to Fletcher. How sad would he have to lose this child?

Roy felt the pain of losing a loved one, and he really couldn't bear it.

...

Every household in the village was brightly lit. Not far behind Fletcher were one-eyed Jack, blacksmith Pusig, night watchman Thompson, and three honest male villagers, each with a torch, some with steel swords on their waists, some with hoes and pitchforks, and they were well prepared.

"Such a few people? The village chief doesn't arrange for everyone to act together?" Roy was slightly disappointed.

"Oh..." One-eyed Jack grabbed his beard and sighed, "The older he is, the more afraid he is. He said that it is not safe in the wild at night. He only agreed to send someone to search tomorrow morning. It is not easy to get so many people. Let's hurry up and wait until tomorrow, Skellij's salted fish will smell..."

"Boss, stop pouring cold water!" Pusig calmly glanced at the butcher and reluctantly comforted him, "Little Brandon probably got lost outside the village. He is a very clever child. Goddess Merritelly will bless him."

However, everyone present knew in their hearts that in a small village surrounded by sparsely populated and wilderness, what does it mean to disappear? But no one is willing to tell the truth.

Roy felt a chill in his heart, and he suddenly remembered his bad attitude towards Brandon in the morning.

If there is an accident in Brandon? He cannot get rid of the responsibility!

"No, you must find him."

"Let's divide into two teams, take care of each other... search in the east and west directions outside the village, don't go too far, if you really don't find it, come back quickly." The night watchman said, and assigned Roy, blacksmith Pusig, one-eyed Jack, butcher Fletcher to his own team, while the old couple Susie and the three villagers searched the west side.

"Dad, Susie, don't worry about me. I'm safe with the care of the blacksmith. You must also protect yourself!" Seeing that the two of them had better equipment on their son, they nodded.

According to the order of the blacksmith, butcher, Roy, tavern owner, and night patrolmen, the five of them walked into the darkness outside the village with a torch.

No one knows what dangers are lurking in the darkness. In the wilderness of Posada, there is no shortage of fierce wild dogs, wolves, and other ghosts.

...

The autumn nights of Yadian are particularly cold, and the temperature is close to zero, and Roy can't help but shivering.

The full moon hangs high in the night sky, sprinkling bright light, and some strange screams vaguely came from all around, such as insects or something.

The golden wheat ears swung lightly with the night wind under the moonlight, and the green and tender hops swayed with a faint bitter smell, but there was no response.

Everyone first searched along the farmland near Kaye, shouting Brandon's name.

Although there are torches and moonlight, the vision is still greatly suppressed, and most people can only see objects about ten minutes nearby.

But this is only for ordinary people. Roy was surprised to find that his vision was not much worse than during the day, and even objects beyond 30 hours could be seen clearly.

He realized that this was due to the enhanced vision caused by the perception of 6 points, and he did not make any mistakes in this.

An hour passed, and the five people searched all the farmlands in Kaye Village, but found no clues. The tighter the faces became, and the longer they dragged, the lower the probability of finding the child.

Old Jack kept paying attention to the expressions of others, and suddenly stopped and asked again, "If you look for it without heads and flies like this, it will not work. Fletcher, think about it carefully, where might that kid go?"

The butcher squatted down in pain and hugged his head. "The stinky brat often yells to go to big cities to be a bard, but he has never left the small countryside of Kaye. At most, he goes fishing in the river next to the village, but he doesn't go too far."

"I haven't fulfilled my promise yet, and I'll send him to Van Gerbert and Ossenfort to take a look."

Roy, who was standing beside him, sighed in his heart when he heard this, and after a while, a thought flicked in his mind.

"Where is Uncle Fletcher, your wife, Brandon's mother... buried?"

The butcher looked sad when he heard this, "Anna has passed away for three years because of whooping cough and has been buried..."

"Ceveyard!" The butcher suddenly stood up excitedly, "Anna was buried in the cemetery on the east side of the village. Do you think the brat would run there? I used to take him to worship every once in a while, but I haven't been there for a few months recently."

"What are you waiting for?! Go to the cemetery!"

The remains of the villager's burial are about 3 miles away from the east end of the village. There is a small path covered by grass and trees in the middle of the two places. Everyone held torches and ran along the road in the night.

Roy ran behind several older men and was out of breath. Soon, sweat beads appeared on his forehead. His physical fitness was slightly inferior to that of an adult, but he could not let a father who was worried about his child stand down and could only grit his teeth.

Old Jack is not feeling well. He is a lot older and has a lot of alcohol on weekdays. His physical fitness is also weaker than that of ordinary people.

After rushing out about a mile, Roy's left eyelid suddenly twitched, and a warning eagle rose in his heart for no reason, and he couldn't help but shout, "Be careful!"

As soon as the words were finished, a few strange green light suddenly flashed across the lush and dark bushes.

No, it is a pair of ghostly fire-like pupils.
