Chapter 2 Strange Sounds

In the simple temple restaurant, a corner of a rectangular table made of wooden boards, and between two cloaks covered with snowflakes, the hungry witch hunter is eating quietly and efficiently.

Carl snuffed half of the pie into his mouth, allowing the soft wheat bran soaked in the potato soup to ferment in his mouth, and the aroma would not dissipate for a long time.

The priestess sitting opposite her sighed in pain.

"The two masters are professionals, the nemesis of monsters and supernatural creatures. They should be clear about this kind of rural land, with countless demons and ghosts, such as Qiqimo, ghouls, dwarfs, and some terrible existences that I can't say..."

"On the contrary," Carl put down the plate that was licked as smooth as new, and said in an old-fashioned manner, "In recent years, the number of monsters is not as good as before. In comparison, robbers, mercenaries, plunderers, and wandering soldiers are the greatest threats to mankind! Then again, do you mean that there is something unusual in the temple?"

Daisy's hands were folded on the square table, with the back of her hands supporting her pointed chin. She looked at the bald man beside her. The firelight shone out the anxiety between her smooth and delicate face and her eyebrows.

"Since half a year ago, I could hear crawling sounds every night, which made me feel uncomfortable. Do you understand that feeling? It seems that a pine caterpillar is drilling into my ears, and a tongue seems to be licking the back of my neck."

Bald Bruce clutched her fist as the big sandbag described vividly, and twisted uneasily against the bench's butt.

"It sometimes sounds like a baby's babbling, and after a while it turns into a rat's chirping, or even a Rut piano!"

"We searched the entire temple, and the strange sound came from the cellar where debris were piled under the floor and storing pickled vegetables and meat. Dino and I went down to explore it."

Arkham pricked up his ears, fed a bit of slightly sweet goat milk, and quickly glanced out the window. A girl with blond hair as dry as straw was looking into the restaurant from the windowsill, swallowing her saliva at the sumptuous dinner. The night wind blew her to rub her hands, and her slender body shivered.

The dusk outside the window was deep, and the witch hunter's mutational vision still clearly glimpsed the other person's familiar face and the girl who was naughty, beautiful, noble in her memory, and was loved by Geralt and Yennefa.

How is this possible? Wasn't she in Skellijah? Well, it should be a coincidence.

"There is a dirty thing behind that row of pickled pork!"

The bodyguard's rough and red face was wavy and undulating, and his voice was trembling uncontrollably.

"Don't be nervous, just say slowly, what does it look like? Don't miss a hair!"

Arkham's powerful words seemed to contain magic, so as to relieve the tension of the man.

"Like an old woman wearing a gauze dress with rotten flesh on her face, thin and hunched! Of course, it runs ten times faster than an old woman."

Arkham touched his chin stubble and frowned, "Are you sure you read it right?"

"I dare not stay underground for too long, but I just saw its outline hazy." The man blushed and said stammeringly.

"One end?"

"To be honest, if there were two ends, we might not be able to get out!" the bearded man continued,

"That thing screamed and chased behind the butt. Dino's torch blocked it, otherwise I would have been almost knocked down! Lei Bi was on it. For the first time I was so scared, I had goose bumps all over my body, and I was almost scared to pee. Fortunately, we were straight and we climbed up, covered the board, and sat on it to block it!"

"Your Excellency..." Arkham looked up and down at the bald giant man, "It's not as brave as he looks."

"Heroic does not mean stupidity! I won't bite stones with my teeth! Even soldiers who have experienced many battles can only escape when they encounter that thing!"

This is the normal reaction of 90% of ordinary people in the face of unknown horror things.

"That thing didn't break out?" Arkham asked,

"Blessed by Lei Bida, it only roars in the cellar!" Dino, with a bearded face, said in surprise and a little gladly,

"Isn't this a ready-made living target? Then what method did you use to deal with it?"

Carl's eyes slowly swept over the three of them and asked,

"At the entrance of the cellar, chant the prayers of Lei Bihuda, and according to the traditional folk remedies to exorcise evil spirits, throw pig bladders filled with boys' urine, virgin menstruation, and black dog blood... But nothing is useful! It's strange that we can't see ghosts in the cellar during the day, but at night, the screams must be heard, which is more punctual than a rooster crowing!"

"Have you tried ignition?" Carl asked.

"The burning of the temple is a great disrespect to Lei Bizhada!" said the priestess.

"Since there is nothing you can do with it, why don't you just move it away?"

"Where can I get a place to settle so many children? Besides, the believers of Rabidha must not be scared away by a mere ghost!"

The priests are righteous and stern.

"When will it appear at night?"

"Well... After the moon rises, you can hear the cry at night when the moonlight shines!"

Carl's vertical pupils showed a thoughtful look. The thing was not afraid of smoke. He was trapped in the narrow basement and disappeared during the day. When the moon came out?

"Apart from howling, is it a worse behavior?"

The three of them shook their heads at the same time, and the priestess said with gratitude,

"This evil thing only dares to act as a mighty person in the shadows in the cellar, and cannot get out of the cage and hurt the child, so we continue to stay in the temple to endure its annoying and strange screams! But I am worried that sooner or later it will come out to attack everyone!"

Carl rubbed his temples.

After hearing their description, the monster had a human-like appearance, he immediately thought of the tomb witch, the little demon, the evil ghost, the zombie ghoul and the like.

But first of all, the habitat is not in line with it. Secondly, these monsters cannot be locked with just a piece of wooden board or a few locks in the cellar. When they go out for food, the people in the temple should be reduced to Chinese food.

exclude!

Carl nodded and asked again,

"Have you had many nightmares in the past six months?"

The three of them looked at each other, and the priestess thought about it,

"Only in the first few days I couldn't sleep, and there was no problem at other times. Well, it must be the blessing of Lei Bida!"

A glimmer of light shot out in Carl's eyes. If it were the little earth spirit who loves pranks, this group of temple residents would inevitably have frequent nightmares and enjoy a prank feast.

"The last question, have anyone died in the cellar?" Arkham took the conversation and slowly glanced across the faces of the three of them.

Daisy was stunned for a moment, and blushed in anger, "This is a sacred temple, master, don't joke with us!"

"Are you sure?!"

"I swear!"

The restaurant fell into a brief silence.

"Master, are you clueful?" asked the bald man,

"There is a preliminary guess, but there are some contradictions in it, and we need to go in and find out."

The two teenagers tacitly remembered a kind of earth-bound spirit in "Biotheory".

Human form, when the moon rises, the cry is invisible.

But logically speaking, that kind of thing is only born on corpses, and the country roads shining with moonlight should not appear in the temple cellar.

"Prince Daisy, ask, from beginning to end, the Holy Spirit of Rabidha has not helped you drive away this monster?"

In the cognition of witch hunters, it is possible to say that "haunted" is in no matter the city and countryside, only the temple is basically insulated from ghosts and monsters.

In Elland, Ms. Merritelly has not shown miracles to the world for a long time. Her temples still have sacred protection, and evil things will be deterred by nature and dare not cause trouble here.

Including Cliff, the father of the sky, other temples that can be regarded as "justice" can shock evil spirits and sluts.

Daisy thought for a while, took a deep breath and said, "Maybe I am too young and have only worked in Songlin District. I have a shallow six months of experience. I think the monster under the cellar may be the test of the prophet for me!"

"Then the children in the temple have only been here for half a year?"

"Your Excellency doesn't know," Daisy looked out the window, with pity and kindness on her pretty face. "Most of the children were orphans who escaped from Sintra and Soden a few years ago, and there were also poor children who could not be raised at home and sent to us for our teachings. Priest Xinni had always been taking care of them, but later she went out for a trip and I began to take charge of the temple affairs."

"It's not easy to keep so many mouths in the cold wilderness of Povis." Arkham exclaimed.

"Thanks to the relief and donations of the villagers in the country, everyone survived barely." The priestess said gratefully.

Arkham shook his head silently. During the years he had wandered, he deeply realized that the poorer the countryside, the more fierce, ignorant, and stingy it means.

It is not easy for farmers to raise their own families, so how can they kindly help children who are not relatives or bad?

But he did not refute.

"The two demon hunters look extraordinary and must have a good heart!" The beard suddenly flattered,

"Can you help the temple for those kids?"

Daisy's slender hands were folded on her chest, her bright big eyes flashing with pleading.

"The rules of the witch hunter are to use money to eliminate disasters for others. According to your description, the monsters in the cellar are quite difficult to deal with." Carl.

The priestess suddenly looked embarrassed,

"How much does it cost to you?"

"Take compassionate, witch hunter, there is no money in the temple!" Bruce looked like a giant bear standing up, pinching her fists and asking in a muffled voice, "There is only a little reserve of surplus food left in the temple to spend the winter! In order to entertain the two, she had used up the most valuable and delicious part of it!"

Carl and Arkham rubbed their noses awkwardly.

reject?

No, this boring journey killed the ghost and slipped into the city in shame.

You can do your best for free, and they can imagine the scene of Seret cursing you two, are you really charitable people?!

How about trying the accident law to try to take a child away? But when you entered the temple gate and saw those children, you were surprised.

After a long time, Arkham rubbed the griffin badge between his neck with his left thumb, and said in his heart that this is my journey, and I will decide!

It's time to show off and add some honors.

"Cough, cough!" He cleared his throat and stood up suddenly, paced around the dining table, and said with a righteous look on his face, "Crashing into me, Arkham Tom, you are lucky. The griffin school pays attention to chivalrous spirit, so I will make an exception to sell it once. We will take the task as a reward!"

"You...you are serious and won't lie to me, aren't you?" Daisy breathed a sigh of relief and opened her mouth wide in surprise.

"The witch hunter will do what he says."

Seeing his companion making a promise, Carl sighed helplessly while covering his forehead.

"I am really grateful! May Lei Bida bless you!" The priestess bowed to the two of them happily, as if afraid that they would regret it, and hurriedly said, "What do we need to do? How to help? Just give me instructions!"

"Take good care of your children and yourself, and don't distract us."

Carl looked out the window, and before he knew it, the sky was completely dark, and the dim light shone out on the white snow in the center of the courtyard and the statues in the shadows.

The sacred Lei Bizhuda stone sculpture was covered with a thick layer of darkness.

"Give us some time to prepare, and do it when the moon rises!"
