Chapter 17 Vivien

"What do you want to do today? Beef brisket sprinkled with basil?" At the barbecue stall, a young man with a big red-haired nose in his 20s quickly brushed the spices on the skewers on the grill with his hands. The aroma of meat drifted far away with the wind, and the young man next to him couldn't help but move his nose.

"Then the one you recommend. Emil, remember to add more peppers, the weather is getting colder and colder." Roy, whose cheeks were red from the cold wind, brushed off his feathers on his body and looked at the gloomy sky.

Three days passed in a blink of an eye, and the New Year recorded in the Elf Calendar was not far away.

In the past three days, Roy completely adapted to the work of the market. The poultry stalls could provide about 30 experience points every day, and the work of the herbal shop was also smooth. He also became familiar with Tros, Emil, who sells barbecue, and Old Ruer, who is a poultry stall. His life was extremely regular. In addition to the routine training every night, he was just an ordinary young man who went to big cities. The traces of the witch hunter seemed to disappear from life at once.

"Give it, your meat is ready," Emil handed over a skewer of long arms and a sizzling grill. "You are an old customer, so I'll add more."

Roy took the meat skewers and walked to a remote and uninhabited corner to earn the space. The meat skewers were not prepared for themselves, but for others. In the evening, he was about to leave the market and return to the mill, but was stopped by Tros of the herbal shop.

"Well... Roy, a laundry lady named Cuilin ordered a bag of honeysuckle. How about you bring her for me?" Tros said casually, "She lives in **, Lower City, and I still have to guard the shop, so I can't go."

During this period, the other party asked him to help run errands a lot. But it was the first time he asked to send it to the lower city area. Roy thought of the reminder from the Sparrow Gang and Genk. However, several days have passed, so he wouldn't be so unlucky, right?

"OK."

Roy walked through the market in the Midtown area and headed towards the slums to the east. The sky was drowsy, and large areas of dark clouds gathered in the distant sky, and the orange sunset of the past was hidden.

Across a narrow and turbid stinking ditch, there is an endless low shed, which forms a slum that breeds filth.

After walking a few steps into the slums, Roy frowned and covered his nose. Most of the houses were dilapidated and connected together. Sewage poured out of the sewers and polluted the ground. Domestic garbage piled up in the dark and narrow alleys.

The people who passed by him were wearing cheap clothes, with a dish-like face, and a urgency. When the cold wind blew, a hint of confusion flashed across their red faces. Some men were not old, but their backs were pressed by heavy physical labor and began to deform.

The smell of fish in the air, the smell of excrement between humans and animals, interweaves into an indescribable stench.

Compared with the clean and tidy rich area, this place is simply the difference between hell and heaven. It is not enough to describe it as dirty and messy, and even Kaye Village is not as good as Kaye Village.

But this scene is the norm of the times.

Roy resisted the urge to turn and leave, and came to the destination of the trip, handing over the herbs to the thin woman who was scrubbing the sheets in the yard outside the house.

But on the way back, a warning suddenly rose in his heart, and a feeling of a thorn on his back suddenly arose. Reuy walked to a corner and glanced in a secret way with the light of his vision.

As expected, there were two men dressed in fancy clothes and looked slutty and hung from behind him.

"What do these two guys want to do? Why do you follow me?" Roy remembered the warning of the miller Henke.

"It's so unlucky to come to the lower city for the first time?" Roy took a deep breath and continued walking as if nothing had happened.

The two stalkers had no idea what was hidden in the seemingly harmless targets.

This scene appeared on the dirty street. A young man bowed his head and walked in front of him, and two men with gloomy faces hung behind him and chased him reluctantly.

On the second floor of the dilapidated house on the roadside, some residents who were collecting clothes on the balcony noticed something strange, but they just supported their chin and looked like they were watching the show. Some residents passing by quickly glanced at this side, but instead accelerated their pace, thinking that they were not hurrying to leave.

No one is meddling in other people's business.

Roy quietly focused his attention on the hidden crossbow, estimated the size of the remaining space, suddenly accelerated the speed, and rushed forward.

"Hey, little brother, come here!" A sudden voice interrupted his plan. When Roy looked up, he saw a beautiful young woman waving to him not far away.

Are you calling me?

He looked back at the two guys following him and hesitated for a moment, "Forget it, there are so many people and eyes. If you make a big noise, it will not end well."

He approached the woman, and a faint fragrance came. He felt his eyes turn black, and his left arm was instantly hugged by Wen Xiangnuanyu, "Little brother, don't be afraid if I have me, those two bastards dare not do anything to you!"

The woman blinked at him, and as she spoke, the two people following him stopped as they said. The man with a large piece of tattoo on his neck spat out thick phlegm at them.

"Boy, you're lucky!"

The rapid footsteps sounded, and the two men left cursed.

"Well, thank you for your help." Roy's face was stiff, and the soft touch on his arms made him uncomfortable.

"Sorry, did you hurt you?" The woman let go of her arm and touched Roy's hair affectionately. She was about 5 inches (1.7 meters) tall. She was about 24 or 25 years old. Her emerald green top and a pleated skirt above her thigh fully highlighted her beautiful body curves.

The long burgundy hair was tied behind the head, and a silver pendant hung around her slender neck. Her legs were straight and white under the pleated skirt. The belt was tied out her waist with a full grasp. The most attractive thing was her moist eyes and slightly thick red lips, which added a touch of charming temperament on her face.

This bright face smiled brightly, and in an instant, the dark clouds seemed to be dispelled.

"My name is Vivien. You are you, little brother? Why did you run down the city alone? No one told you that it is dangerous here? The guys from the Sparrow Gang can do whatever they want for money."

The woman's voice is very gentle and her attitude is surprisingly good.

Roy was stunned by her bright eyes, but her body had not yet matured and quickly recovered. She smiled gratefully at the other party, "Sister Vivien, just call me Roy. I'll give someone a bag of herbs. I didn't expect to be so unlucky. I encountered such a thing the first time."

"Oh, I thought those two bastards were waiting for you..." Vivien murmured in a low voice, "Where are you going now?"

“The herbal shop back to the market.”

"I happened to go over and buy something, let's go together..."

Roy agreed to not feel the threat from the two villains.

The two walked side by side, and soon Roy noticed that the woman's hands were far less delicate than the skin on her face, covered with frostbite, dead skin, and calluses.

"Sister Vivien, what happened like this often happened in the downtown area? No one cared about it?"

"The revolutionary army has been in a big trouble recently. There are so many things in the middle and rich areas that cannot be managed. The lower city is basically in a state of unattended care. You must be careful in the future and never come alone to wander around."

Roy asked with concern, "You helped me just now, will those two bastards take revenge?"

The woman suddenly stopped when she heard this, and a hint of relief flashed in her beautiful eyes. The look seemed to be looking at a junior in her family, "Don't worry, they dare not do anything to me."

Roy was surprised to see this, and the other party seemed to have some good feelings for him for no reason.

The two of them chatted while walking, but after a moment they arrived at the herb shop, Vivien waved at Roy, urging him to go over quickly, and turned around and left freely.

Tross noticed Roy and the woman who was walking with him, and his eyes flashed with surprise and his expression quickly returned to normal.

"The thing was delivered?"

"Well," Roy paused, "Uncle Tross. Do you know Vivien? It's the woman just now."

Tros raised his face, his eyes narrowed into a slit, his face was intoxicated, as if he was fantasizing about something, "Vivien is a good girl." His palms drew a gourd curve in the air, licking his dry lips, "The figure is more than 99% of women in this city, right?"

"She is also enthusiastic and kind. I was followed by two sneaky guys in the lower city, thanks to her help to help clear the situation."

Tros suddenly saw her eyes and said with remorse, "It's all my fault. I should have reminded you earlier that the lower city has been uneasy, especially recently."

"Forget it, there is no big problem anyway." Roy continued, "Vivien seems to be not afraid of those two gangsters at all. What's going on?"

Tross' wrinkled old face showed a hint of admiration, "There is a three-story house located in the northeast corner of the Midtown area, called Kardell House. He only received extremely low rewards to teach the children of Edsberg civilians to read and read, and provided free lunch for the children. Vivien is the school teacher and is loved by locals."

"No matter how many bastards there are in the Sparrow Gang, there are not as many locals. Of course, they dare not provoke her."

Tros sighed again, "A lot of kind people are unfortunate. Poor her mother is often unconscious, and there is also a drunkard father who needs to be supported. In order to take care of her family and subsidize those poor students, she lives a very hard life..."

"How come there is such a kind-hearted beauty living in that dirty Lower City?" Tros looked like he wanted to share her worries. Roy couldn't help but feel funny. During her usual chat, the owner of the herbal shop revealed that he had a happy family with both his wife and children.

"Uncle Tross, can I go to Kardell House to study?" Roy asked with a slight heartbeat. This matter was already under his plan. Since his work was stable, he could take out the afternoon every day.

"You are not old, so it should be fine." Tross thought, touching his chin, "The tuition will be more expensive than the locals, but it will definitely be more cost-effective than finding a scribe and other people."

Roy was slightly happy. The planned work and accommodation were solved perfectly. Now a way to learn general words is in front of him, and the process is basically no twists and turns. He just needs to continue to execute step by step and wait for the witch hunter to come back to give him a surprise.
