Chapter VII Bones in the Coffin(1/2)

The dark tomb chamber.

The two witch hunters clasped the silver swords back to back, and kept their vigilance focused.

The fire was shaking, shining out several lingering green shadows.

They kept flashing from mid-air, making short and empty howls, and quickly disappeared into the shadows, as unpredictable as ghosts.

The witch hunters tried their best to capture the blue color, and the demon spirits appeared and disappeared, but they appeared with the surging air and the whistling wind, with traces to follow.

After feeling it carefully for a while, the bald man's eyes sank, he stretched out four hands to indicate the instructions, and gently touched the companion behind him - both hands clasped the alchemy bomb on his waist.

"Bang, bang,"

A dull sound erupted, white phosphorus flashed, and a dazzling dust rose in the tomb. Then, four blue demon spirits appeared from the air. Their translucent bodies flashed unstable, but were firmly bound by the moon dust and could not hide their shape.

Roy hit the horizontally and held Arondate and jumped forward and approached the two demons.

Then, with the left toe as the center of gravity, deflected his body and slashed a heavy sword.

However, without the suppression of the Yaden Seal, the demon spirit showed extraordinary speed. The translucent body floated back lightly and avoided the sword blade of the demon hunter. Then, taking advantage of the opponent's exhaustion, he counterattacked with double-teaming one left and one right!

The demon spirit fell to the ground like a meteor, and rushed to Roy in an instant from top to bottom. At the same time, its body rotated like a top. The lanterns and daggers in both hands turned into sharp serrated teeth, constantly scraping the sword blades in the hands of the demon hunter, causing chaos of sparks and a series of friction sounds that made the gums sore.

Roy felt a numbness in the tiger's mouth, and the sword blade almost broke out. He retreated quickly with his body, and took two steps flexibly towards the side, intersecting his companions behind him.

The bald man took over his opponent.

Roy took a deep breath, grabbed Gabriel with his left hand, and shot an arrow at the demon spirit wandering alone in the distance.

Ripples appeared in the space, his body turned into nothingness, and the next second, he appeared strangely behind the third demon spirit who was alone.

"Swish, swish, swish" Arondet, covered in sword oil, slashed several times like lightning, slashing the demon spirit's unprepared neck, chest, abdomen and lower limbs.

The latter screamed unwillingly and turned into blue smoke.

The demon hunter had no time to breathe, and another strong wind blew in the dark corridor. He quickly deflected the sword blade and blocked it. He immediately felt a pain in his left shoulder - the sneak attacking demon spirit directly broke through the Kunen magic seal, leaving a bloody mouth on his shoulder.

"Damn it!" Roy tried his best to sweep the demon spirit in front of him, glanced at the wound, which was like a baby's mouth, and it hurts just by looking at it.

But the long-term tempering between life and death made him calm down quickly. Instead of rushing forward recklessly, he skillfully used swordsmanship and magic seals to deal with it, grinding the last demon to death.

"Kill the demon spirit, experience value +60, witch hunter LV5 (1060/3500)"

Reso's battle also came to an end. He was slowly scabbarking his swords. The two demon spirits failed to cause damage to him, but his breathing was rapid and his physical strength and magic were consumed.

"Little devil, how are you hurt?"

Roy touched the wound by himself and then felt a sharp stinging pain and frowned, but after the pain, a sense of extreme coolness spread quickly, and he moved his shoulders again. "Skin trauma, nothing serious."

"That's good..." Resso squatted down and began to clean the battlefield.

"This is the fifth wave of demonic spirit attacks I have encountered, and there is still no whereabouts of Koglim."

"It's almost done," the big man paused, looking at the dark corridor ahead, a hint of sadness appeared on his face. "We can only go deep into this tomb safely, but Kogrim alone, and his magic and physical strength are almost exhausted when he walks here. In addition, according to the composition of the tombs we have seen before, there are a total of fifteen tombs in total, and this is the eleventh room... I'm about to go to the end."

"Let's take a break and keep our energy healthy. Hopefully there are no big guys in the end."

...

The road ahead was unexpectedly calm, and the two of them did not encounter any demon spirits blocking the way.

The fifteenth tomb chamber is twice the size of the previous tomb chamber. Four sarcophagus lie in the center, burying direct blood relatives of the contemporary lord Ignatho Vilires within two generations.

But it was strange that after a rough look at the witcher, he did not see any exposed skeletons, and Kogrim's body was still missing.

The two of them swept the coffins in the tomb.

"Is Kogrim lying inside?" Roy's voice was slightly faint, and he could not imagine other possibilities.

"You and I understand that demon spirits do not have the hobby of collecting the bodies of the dead. They cannot deliberately bring the killed people into the coffin."

"What's going on?"

"Shh-" Resso made a gesture, "Listen carefully..."

“Hu—Hu—”

"Is this... wind?"

At some point, a whistling cold wind blew into the corridor outside the tomb room, and it sounded like someone was whistling a strange whistle in the shadows in the distance.

The fire in the tomb trembled, and the shadows of two witch hunters on the wall seemed to be pulled by an invisible big hand, sometimes growing and sometimes short.

A breathtaking silence.

Roy couldn't help but shrink his neck and subconsciously put a Quinn Seal on himself.

"It's already evening outside?"

"I always feel something is wrong, be careful..." Resour reminded, "Check the tomb and do not move any coffin."

...

Resso was responsible for the coffin holes on the outer wall, while Roy inspected the four coffins in the central area.

He started working on the first coffin and found out an abnormality.

It was a thin line that streaked across the off-white surface of the coffin, very thin and shallow, and if you don't pay attention, you will definitely miss it. Roy quickly confirmed that this was a sword mark, but the initiator had very little strength, or the strength had declined to the point of vagueness.

"John Vilires, 1206-1255, at the age of 49, died of tuberculosis. Son: Ignathus Vilires...Wife: Mary Vilires."

"It seems that this coffin is the father of the contemporary lord." Roy continued to browse.

"Mary Vilirez, 1210-1259, at the age of 49, died of labor..." This is the lord's mother.

"Florian Vilirez, 1243-1257, at the age of fourteen, died of suffocation..." This is the son of the lord.

"All parents and sons died, is this a bad retribution for Ignathus?"

Roy muttered.

The last coffin had no name, nor did it record the date of birth and death, and only a sentence was engraved, "My poor child, I didn't have time to take a look at the world, and I fell asleep forever."

Whose child is the nameless coffin? Why is there no record at all?

Roy rubbed his temples and gradually forgot his fear. "I didn't have time to take a look at the world, that is, I died as soon as I was born? Could it be that he was the child of Mary Verres, who died of dying from labor?"

The more Roy thought about it, the more he felt it made sense. He focused on checking the dates of several coffins, and then accidentally deduced another amazing fact.

"The Lord's mother, Mary, died of dysfunction in 1259, but the Lord's father, John Old, was gone in 1255. There is no doubt that Mary cheated on her and became pregnant with someone else's child, and put a cuckold on John Old."

"It's a pity that she didn't survive because she was too old and had too old to die of labor."

Roy was still thinking, but Resso had completed the inspection of the surrounding area and found nothing.

"Have you found a clue?"

"Come here quietly, I found an interesting situation."

...

After listening to Roy's story, Resor disagreed.

"The wife of the lord's family's private life is a corruption, and it's normal for a bit of a romantic event. Don't pay attention to these boring things!"

"I also found a clue!" Roy pointed out a few sword marks from the coffin, "It's near here, who did Kogrim fight with."

The two of them followed the sword marks and found a path left by human beings squirming against the ground between the coffins. However, it was almost gone for a long time. Only the extraordinary perception of the demon hunter could detect it.

This path always points to Mary Verres' coffin.

"I have a premonition that Kogrim's body is inside..." Roy murmured to himself, and Resor gestured to him, and the two surrounded Mary's coffin, one left and one right.

Then, Leisuo kicked the coffin board with a sudden kick. With a "thunder" sound, the coffin was lifted, and the two of them arched their bodies as if they were facing a great enemy. The magic seal in their hands was ready to go, but after waiting for a moment, there was no movement at all.

They glanced at it and there was a corpse lying alone in the coffin. He was wearing a matte black leather armor, and the exposed part had been completely broken into pieces and could not tell the appearance.

The clothes on the corpse were almost torn into strips of cloth, and the chest, abdomen and sleeves were covered with holes, which were obviously under intense attack. There was also a long sword next to the corpse.

It has a single-shaped sword grid, with a slender body, and the central sword ridge slightly raised outward, forming a triangular straight line with the blades on both sides.

It was covered in dust for two years, and it was a little gray and not so eye-catching.

Leisuo picked up the sword, held the hilt with one hand, held the tip of the sword diagonally with the other hand, tilted his head and observed the sword spine for a moment, then put it down and sighed.

"The old guy's usual steel sword."

"Is he Cogrim?" Roy remained alert.

Resso did not answer, silently picked up the pendant on the corpse's chest and shook it in front of his eyes, an exquisite snake shape.

Then he lifted a piece of the shin of the calf and weighed it in his hand, "The bone density of the witch hunter is half higher than that of ordinary people, and it is much heavier. Even after two years, the difference can still be recognized."

"How did Kogrim die?"

"There are no obvious scars on the bones, and I can't see it now..."

Resso said as he carried the entire corpse out of the coffin, checked it carefully, and found a drawing of the animal skin and a yellowed letter from the cloth bag on his waist.

"Sincere: Ivar Eye, the Grand Master of the Viper School of Witch Hunter.

I have now found the blueprint that once belonged to our school, but now I have encountered some trouble. On my way back to the castle, I stayed in a small village in the countryside of Termolia for one night. The villagers who killed me regarded me as a scapegoat and said that I had kidnapped a beekeeper's devil."

"They put me in the castle of the local lord for interrogation. There was a blueprint they found and confiscated. But don't worry, I will get it back, and they didn't find any other blueprints.
